Natalia Romanova Seriously, what is with the fps hate around these parts? Modern Warfare is fun as all hell kids. If you're interested, rent it, give it a shot. The multilayer is addicting and fun and dynamic. FPS games, especially these days, are pretty homogeneous. I've played Wolfenstein, Halo 3, ODST, and a few others of the current gen and I'm seriously not impressed. The last FPS that really impressed me was Half Life 2.
I haven't gotten around to playing Dragon Age yet, but a friend of mine who is an RPG nut has been hounding me to play it since launch. He's running it on the PS3 right now and is just loving it.
Besides, we're Canadians. We have to promote Bioware. Which is kind of funny because Vancouver is big for software developers, I get EA employees at the store all the time.

Natalia Romanova recently finished my 4th complete run of Mass Effect you've only played through Mass effect 4 times? xd I think ive gone through it like 6 times. My favorite game ever. Three play throughs were on my brothers 360 and then when I finally got an Xbox I had to play through it not only because I love the game, but because I love achievements. I am what one might call an achievement whore. Any one else here like getting achievements?

Technologist Tony Stark FPS games, especially these days, are pretty homogeneous. I've played Wolfenstein, Halo 3, ODST, and a few others of the current gen and I'm seriously not impressed. The last FPS that really impressed me was Half Life 2. I'm going to say that FPS games are homogeneous because they are FPS games. Turn based RPGs are homogeneous too, but they (just like FPS) have varying degrees of game play. Different in game objectives, different stories, different means of approaching how to play, different game physics, so on so forth. A lot of people, most people, would argue that FPS games have actual stepped up and have worked well at differentiating properties in the past 10 years while growing in developing engaging stories, game play, graphics, and mechanics. If you don't want "head in this direction and shoot this stuff as you go" try Mass Effect or Fallout 3; both are FPS RPG. And I just flat out suggest Bioshock to any one who likes video games period.
Jean: I am the anti-achievement-whore! Unless that means I unlock characters, weapons, or costumes, or some in game play stuff. I don't go about doing EVERY ACHIEVEMENT EVER if its just to get a little badge. It depends though, sometimes I do. xd

Wich is better? That's a pretty crazy pair of devices to put head to head, but hey I sell phones for a living (also movies, but that's hardly relevant here). The first thing I always ask a customer is what they're going to be using their phone for. What features do you need? This is critically important for anyone investigating buying a smartphone because about two thirds of people who come in asking me about smartphones are not actually going to get the usage out of them and just want a status symbol (and most of those two thirds want iPhones). How much do they charge for data plans in the States? I know your guys' mobile industry isn't as a** backwards as ours but I have no idea how cost effective the different providers are when it comes to the kind of stuff you need in your plan to be able to effectively use a Blackberry?
I took the liberty of heading over to Research in Motion's website, the guys who manufacture the Blackberry, and set up a chart comparing the Curve 8350, 8520, 8530, and Tour. My next phone is most likely going to be the 8530, which is why I added that and the 8520 in. The big difference between those two and any other Blackberry is that they don't have trackballs; they have trackpads instead. I've used everything from the Pearl flip 8220 to the Curve 8900 and Bold 9000. Aside from a couple of the nifty features of the Bold, I prefer the 8530 over all of them because of the trackpad and slim design. It has everything that you need in a smartphone as well as some nifty things like a normal headphone jack and quick media buttons that allow you to use it like an MP3 player. The only difference between the 8520 and 8530 as you can see from the chart is the GPS. So far the only thing I'm seeing about the Tour that would make it a better purchase than say the Curve 8900 is the better camera, I'm not impressed by that thing at all especially in the company of the Bold 9700 and the Curve 8530.
That's my take.

Wich is better? Depends on the plan.. I have the newest curve from T-Moble and I have had constant problems with it.
It locked me out of my e-mail and MSN AND changed my PW from what was given to me so that E-mail account is now a dead one.

Fallout 3 and Mass Effect are quite a bit different from the games I listed though. They're RPGs from people who make RPGs that happen to be played in the first person. Halo ODST, Wolfenstein these are a shooter's shooter. They're orthodox FPS, and I'm just not a fan of that, I prefer a more dynamic experience. When I put in a game to blow s**t up, I'd much rather go for a third person perspective game like Army of Two, Wet, Grand Theft Auto IV, or Eat Lead. I want to duck behind cover, run up walls, and if it's not asking too much fly through the air in slow motion or drop my gun every once in a while to just beat the s**t out of people hand to hand. I'm a very idiosyncratic gamer when it comes to certain things.
I've heard that there are some interesting things in COD: MWF2 like ice climbing, undersea missions, and sniping in a blizzard. It makes me somewhat curious but I'd also be leery about playing it on the 360 because shooters are best done with a keyboard and a mouse. I'd imagine that I could put a dozen hours into it and say hey that was fun, then abandon it to play through Wet for the fourth time.
The best game of 2009 is probably Prototype. I really dislike some of the brutality of it like how vicious consuming someone for energy is and the protagonist is some kind of angsty Spawn grimdark bullshit, but the gameplay is breathtaking. The collision detection and fluidity of motion is just insane. This is how superhero games should look and feel. Leap tall buildings in a single bound. Glide silently through the night. Smash tanks with your fists.

I have most of the achievements for Crackdown and I'll probably get them all eventually, because I like the game so much. The thing I like most about achievements is that they usually get me to try something I might not have otherwise thought to try.

Mrs Jean Grey-Summers I am what one might call an achievement whore. Any one else here like getting achievements? Depends how much I like the game and how involved the achievements are. I'm not sure that I want to go through and get the MUA2 achievement for using every fusion power possible, but I've also spent hours trying to get the "win a game of darts with x points" in GTA4. I seem to rack up the headshot achievements in third person shooters before anything else oddly enough. I hate games that are all stingy with the achievements and don't throw you some smaller ones worth like ten or twenty points. Fight Night Round 4 is awful for that. Great game, but you can get like 3/4 of the way to the top of the heap but only get like four achievements along the way! Assholes!

Playing my first ever first person game on the DS, a horror rpg called Theresia. It reminds me so much of Shadowgate for the NES from my youth. I'm really enjoying it.
