Um, master. said the Breloom as he turned to face his trainer following Karri's little fit. Miss Karri says tha-

"Yeah, yeah, I got it." Mike said, holding up his hand. "It doesn't take a mind reader to know what she was thinking." But it does for me. he said with an almost ironic, proud laugh. He snapped back into reality to see a green apple soaring towards him, which he caught without really thinking about it. He took a bite, pausing for a moment to enjoy the overflow of juices as they delighted his tongue. The chunks of fruit that thought they would find peaceful respite in his stomach were soon proven otherwise as they were forcibly jettisoned from the boy's mouth due to the shock of his PokeNav going off. "MAIL!" Mike screamed, ripping the device from his pocket, handing the apple off to his Pokemon.

Mike read the message in a matter of seconds, looking from the device to Keegan as he saw his friend take his sweet time with it. "Way ahead of you!" Mike cheered, spinning around and recalling Portabello before racing off ahead of the two kids in a fit of excited laughter, his cloak flapping wildly as he ran. "Race you two!" he cried out.

Sasha gave a thumbs up to her friend as she sent the mass text. "Bonne idée!" she said with a smile, letting out a surprised 'oh!' when she felt her own phone beep. The girl pulled out her phone and sure enough, there was a text from Kasiya. Sasha only smiled and pulled her friend along as she joined arms with her.

The two had barely taken a step before they heard a tremendous noise coming from the kitchen behind them. To no one's surprise, who would be the source of the noise but Mike, who ran past (nearly through) them, giggling like a child.

"Race ya!" he shouted as he barreled past the girls, more tauntingly than anything else.

Sasha grabbed her beret as a small gust of wind rushed past them. "How can he move so fast?" she asked. "Weren't like, all of his bones broken or somezh'i-?" This time, she was surprised, as Kasiya was no where to be found. "Mon coup de foudre peu?" Sasha called out, only to see a flash of yellow and green disappear around the corner. "Ah! Attendez-moi! Wait for me!"

Omelette shrieked in terror as she tried to hold on to the now very mobile girl, eventually turning into little more than a wind sock flailing around from Sasha's arm.

Laichi enjoys a race or two. She loves the feel of the wind growing in her chest and rushing through her mouth and the sweat which pours from her face trickles down and gives her clothing a darker appearance. But, even the strong and fast need to rest. Zii rests in his pokeball as Laichi stares dumbfounded at the night sky. It's not cold, and at the same time the night is not hot. To Laichi this is the perfect night weather. She understands to some people what she does seems barbaric, or almost medieval. But, she enjoys it.

"No tent, no sleeping bag, no problem. If a living creature can not live out in the elements then why do we exist?" She says while staring into the vast nothingness which is called space. Her back resting against the cold grass of a small inclined hill. A small river trickles in front of her, and the road is to her back. Her mind wonders.

"The big city of Petalburg... it makes me wonder why I've never been. Everybody says, 'You should not travel alone! You will get attacked by a ravenous pokemon who will eat your legs off and poop them out as magikarp.' Ahh Tauros crap. I could knock out a pokemon as easily as any pokemon. But, Zii wouldn't like that much..." She holds up Zii's pokeball and smiles. Her eyes sparkle more than the stars above the fading clouds. She absolutely adores their connection and relationship. "Zii would want to kick the pokemon's tail himself.

"I wonder why my family went to water and grass pokemon? They are limited to one element. They are not very tough, nor strong. They are definitely not fast, unless you kick them into a river or lake. It goes back for generations. I'm confused." She says this in a solid manner. Laichi rubs some dirt from her face and begins to drift off...

"I wonder how this Gym Leader is like in Petalburg City. Is he big, or is he a she? Maybe one day I'll do some research... but.. not right... now..." She falls asleep quietly as the bug types buzz around all night.

Jasper easily navigated his way through Goldenrod City's busy streets, glancing down at his messenger bag now and then as Ditto was peeking out of it. At one point the duo passed by a robust, and fancily dressed woman walking with a little pink Pokemon, a Snubbull, so Ditto thought it would be fun to imitate it. The blue blob giggled as it shifted into a copy of the Fairy Pokemon, though it didn't last long as Ditto quickly grew bored of this form and changed back to normal. It didn't take long for them to get through the city and soon they were making their way north.

Jasper had been to the National Park many times now and he could probably get there with his eyes closed. He passed through the first gate, his thoughts soon drifting back to the newly caught Paras residing safely inside its Pokeball. It hadn't seemed like the bravest of creatures, but that might have been because he and Ditto startled the poor thing. However, even he had to admit that making his first Pokemon capture felt great, and he couldn't help but wonder what he'd be adding to his party in the somewhat-but-not-too-distant future.

He passed through the gate which brought him into the National Park, and though by now quite a few people were milling about, Jasper paid little attention to any of them. Off towards the fountain he could see two boys battling an Ekans and a Sandshrew, and he made doubly sure not to make eye contact with anyone as he still wasn't up for battling just yet. 'I guess if I'm gonna be a trainer, I'd better start actually training my Pokemon,' he thought, slowing his bike a little so that he could ride safely and avoid people at the same time. Luck seemed to be with him for now as nobody paid him so much as a second glance, and before long he'd cut through the park and was passing through the eastern gate and onto Route 36.

As Scarlet continued off toward the cafeteria, he heard Cindy squee for the first time since her archrival Vector decided to lick an electric outlet. She followed it up with a series of excited barks.

Thanks! she said with a grin, flames on her back flickering as she looked back at River. No one ever calls my fire pretty. Whenever I use it, they’re always ‘OWW’ or ‘NOT AT THE COUCH, CINDY’. … The last one seems fair though.

Of course, after the group sat down and started eating, Scarlet having his cheeseburger and fries and Cindy munching on a green pokeblock, conversation would start up. And Jett asked the golden question.

“Am I gonna fight Falkner?” He gulped down the bite of cheeseburger he’d just had. After all, the dramatic grin that followed would look utterly stupid if his cheeks were puffed out. His hair fell over his eyes, casting a shadow on everything but that glowing white grin. He shot up out of his chair, sending it rolling back to the ground. “Yeah, I’m gonna fight Falkner! And I’m gonna win! And not just Falkner! Me and my team are gonna take the Pokemon League down and make our way to the top, universally recognized as the strongest in Kanto and Johto, and even Hoenn and Sinnoh, eventually! And after that, we’ll crush Isshu under our feet! To become Pokemon League Champion in all four leagues! That’s my goal!”

The noisy proclamation earned Scarlet the attention of half the cafeteria. With an awkward cough, he reset his chair and sat back down. “… Yeah. How about you?”

Sam gripped Aska's feathers tightly as they arose. Miharu seemed to be enjoying herself, but Sam was still terrified. When Aska sped up, Sam lowered her head and buried it into Aska's soft feathers. Granted, this flight was a little easier then the last, and it was much shorter as well. Sam lifted her head slightly to see Sprout Tower already in the distance. Sam forced herself to take deep breaths and relax, before turning slightly to look at Miharu.

"Piece of cake!" she yelled over the wind, grinning. She trembled slightly from the anxiety, but she could handle it.

"I think she's wakin' up! We don't need the hearse after all." A young girl says while leaning over Laichi. A young boy raises an eyebrow and flips a cell phone closed. He walks down and accidentally kicks some mud into Laichi's face.

It rained as Laichi slept the night previous. She wakes up and feels a thick layer of mud slide from her right side. It 'thumps' as she pushes much more off her legs.

"I guess I figured out why you should not sleep without a bed or tent. Ew, someone pooped my pants!" Laichi screams while the girl jumps back in a surprise. The boy begins to laugh, and with a movement of his finger some tears are wiped from his eyes. Laichi understands that the boy and girl are related, or she assumes so.

"Hey lady, we are trainers, and we noticed while you slept under your blanket of... dirt."

"...it helps protect against fire types." Laichi expresses while interrupting.

"..uhh..heh...yeah...nooo. Anyway, when you compose yourself how about a challenge!" The girl has a big smile, and the boy stands proud on top of his hill.

"What!? You want to challenge me? In what? You want me to fight you, or our pokemon fight each other, or me versus your pokemon, or you versus my pokemon. uh, what's your name again?" Laichi expresses while washing herself off in the river.

The two children press against each other with a laugh and spin. They jump around and they end in a pose which is very unstable to Laichi's opinion. The kids hold out their pokeballs in parallel style, "We are the Bugcatchers!"

Laichi's eye brow raises and her head tilts as one thing shoots from her mouth before she even thinks it, "Is that your real name!? Hahahaha! It's like I'm playing one of those simulation video games. How do you guys sign your name?" She ends with a smile.

"No, but seriously. How about I kick your stank cascoons into next week. Not only are you lame but you are creepers, who stare at young girls while they sleep. Yeah if I win, I'll laugh at you. If I lose I'll personally kick your stank cascoons." Laichi expresses in a vile way, due to her just waking up. She's never very friendly when she just wakes up.

The girl and boy have a feel of anger being restrained in their now fake smiles. They twitch in frustration as both of them release their pokemon!

River smiled brightly at her newfound fire-y friend, a small giggle falling from her lips. No problem, she said brightly before she began to eat away.

Meanwhile, Jett was watching his new companion loudly proclaim his goal, which did seem like quite the plan. He began to eat his salad as the crowd stared and resumed eating, taking a moment to think about Scarlet's question. "Well," he said, swallowing, "I'm going to take on Falkner. And other gym leaders, I guess."

It was now that Jett realized that he didn't really have a long-term plan. Everyone else in Petalburg was going off on Pokemon journeys and he just wanted to go with them. He knew they were supposed to fight gym leaders or do contests or something... but did he want to do that? "Uh, I dunno what I want to do after that. I guess seeing all the regions would be cool."

Peine woke up at an early time as usual. Though instead of waking up to continue his studies or training, Peine woke up so catch a boat. He was about to embark on his journey that would lead him around the world. Peine grabbed his books, an extra pair of clothes, some cash, a sleeping bag, a good rod, food, and sleeping bag. He gently woke up his Sneasel, Sel, who scratched the air in rage seeming to want to turn the person who woke her up into confetti.

“Stop complaining, we gotta go now if we’re ever going to sneak onto this boat, you know we both don’t have enough money to buy a Rainbow pass out of here, so if we want to get off this island, we have to go now!!” Peine said to Sel. It was true what Peine had just said. The boat rarely comes to Floe Island anymore, so this was the only chance they had at leaving to get to the mainland. Once he got to the mainland, he would travel to Kanto in order to get a Pokedex and to get stronger.

The boy went downstairs to get leave the building, Sel right behind him. ‘This is so perfect, Lorelei doesn’t even expect me doing this!!’ As that thought went through Peine’s head, an icicle spear went right by his head, lodging into the wall.

“You don’t expect that this’ll be that easy, do you?”[ a woman’s voice asked Peine. The boy turned around to see Lorelei there with Cloyster and Jynx.

‘I’m screwed right now…’

“Here, take these,” Lorelei said with a smile on her face, handing Peine a rainbow pass and five pokeballs. “If you’re that passionate about leaving, then I should let you. Though one bad mistake and you’re dead, got it?”

“Yes Lorelei, love you, gotta go, bye!!Peine said as he kissed her on the cheek and ran out the door with Sel, pokeballs and pass in hand. He ran right towards the dock and flashed the pass to the captain who let the energetic boy onboard. Peine and Sel ran up to the top deck of the boat as it started to set sail.

“Sel, welcome to the first day of the rest of our lives!”

Mike's giddy laughter echoed all the way down the stony passageway as he ran down the stairs to Blaine's gym. "I'm gonna win! I'm gonna win!" he cheered, kicking open the steel door with surprising strength. "I win!" The boy let out loud whoop and did a small victory dance before noticing his friend. "Oh hi, Kilik!" Mike jumped down to the arena, ignoring the loud popping noise that came from his knees when he landed. "I'm surprised you're not training right now. Unless that is, you already did, forgoing breakfast for one last session before the big event. Hm? HM!?" He ran up, leaning in close, almost touching foreheads. He wore a judging expression that soon melted into a smile. "I'm just kidding!" he laughed. "Of course you were training, that's what you do!"

Mike took in a deep breath of the volcanic air and grinned widely. "This is heaven." he said. Everything about his current situation delighted him. The smell, the heat, the look of the rocks distorted by waves of heat from the intense bubbling magma below. "Almost makes you want to just jump in, you know? Just jump right in. BUT, that's neither here nor there." he said, smacking Kilik on the back. "I gotta go get some stuff packed for the big trip!" Without waiting for a response Mike ran off to the laboratory to grab the rest of his things.

In the back room of the lab lay Mike's things: consisting of a tattered backback with a snapped shoulder strap and its contents. Inside lay his old Magma uniform and his folder filled with Flannery photos. Mike's fall down Mt. Ember had all but completely destroyed the folder, and his Magma uniform had holes and cuts all over it. Mike silently picked up the folder and opened it. Ripped and crumpled photographs fluttered down like snowflakes.

Mike hung his head. Like the memories they were tied to, the pictures lied strewn about on the floor, scattered and broken. Only he knew how to put them back together, or what they were in the first place, but anyone else would look at it and just see garbage. "Garbage." Mike said. "Garbage. Garbage. Garbage!" he repeated. His fist connected with the metal wall with a tremendous crash that resonated in the whole room. Mike fell silent, staring at the pictures on the floor. One of the pieces was an old photo when Mike and Flannery were very young and playing together. His mom had taken the picture. A duplicate hung on the refrigerator. Three inches from the left and two down.

Mike picked up the photo scrap. He had only a moment to look at it before it incinerated in his grasp. The last thing that went up was his old smile, innocent and wholesome. "Up in flames." he said softly, trying to smile like the picture had just shown him how to. "It's how this all started, and it's how it's all going to end." He punched the floor and began to sob. "Oh...wh-who am-m I kidding?" he said, fighting back a smile. He lost, and soon found himself laughing wildly, thrashing about the room.

The photographs that once littered the ground were tossed into the air, where they were quickly burned and snuffed out of existence.

The more Jett spoke, the more Scarlet frowned. “Hey, hey, that’s no good. Someone who fights as well as you and River and Athena should shoot straight for the top! … Or something…!”

Sure, the league challenge wasn’t for everyone, but… “I mean, if you’re gonna explore the world anyway, you’d might as well have fun and be the best you can be, right? Crush lots of rivals, get lots of TMs and HMs so your pokemon can do lots of awesome stuff, get a huge team so you can beat up more gym leaders to get more stuff… That’s half the fun!” Scarlet kept going with his rant. “… Man, that logic’s sorta circular, huh?”

“We have now reached the city of Vermillion. May the passengers please exit the ship. We hope you enjoyed your trip and travel on the Sea Gallop Ferry and will choose to ride with us again” The voice on the intercom stated as the boat made its final stop in Vermillion. It has been about 4 hours since Peine’s leaving, making stops at Kin, Boon, and Knot Island. Each stop was for 30 minutes, and gave Peine time to visit the areas. He took a quick look through Kin’s Berry Forest, listened to some old hag brag about her “Sacred Moves” in Boon Island, and checked out the high-tech Pokemon-Net Center in Knot Island, meeting a person who said he was working on a system that would be strong enough to transfer Pokemon from Kanto and the Sevii Islands to Hoenn. Now he was finally at his main destination, the mainland of Kanto, where he would meet Prof. Oak and get his Pokedex.

“C’mon Sel, let’s go, we have to get going, we still have a ton of time to get to Pallet!” Peine said with excitement and a bit of rushing in his voice. He grabbed Sel’s arm and pulled her off the boat. The Sharp Claw Pokemon didn’t seem to like being dragged out of the boat. Sel had been known to love sitting around, and the thought of travelling made the Pokemon sad. “I know you don’t like this, but let’s just go around the city, the sightseeing usually makes you happy.

Peine and Sel walked around the city. There was a gym, though it wasn’t accessible due to a fence and a small tree in the way. There was also a man that had his Machop pounding the ground for something. ‘Weird...’ Peine thought as he hurried away from the man, Sel following in haste.

Kilik's eyes widened when the door opened, but it was only Mike. His heart kind of sank when he started to feel like they were never really going to get this show on the road. Mike got in to his face and he couldn't help but smile as his antics. He's got a point, "I actually just finished trai--ooof!" he laughed but it was immediately cut off as Mike slapped him on the back. Mike ran off and left Kilik throwing his long arms to his back, groaning and feeling a slight burn on his skin. He pulled his arms through his sleeves and spun his shirt around, checking to make sure there wasn't a mark on his clothing. And luckily, there wasn't. Mike's hand must not have been there long enough to deal any real damage. It just stung. A lot.

He fixed his shirt and sat down on the arena, legs extended and crossed at the ankles - left over right. He tapped his left foot against the air and rested on his palms, arms outstretched behind him. He could hear noises coming from down the hall, and chose rather not to investigate-that's where Mike had headed and chances were, he was going berserk in one of the rooms. It was something he'd rather not see. With a heavy sigh, he still sat, awaiting the rest of the group.

Mazarin burst into the bedroom and threw his bag into the corner, examining himself in one of the mirrors. He had, quite possibly, the coolest shirt in the history of the world. That sleek black...those lovely red marks...that large, warm, dark green collar. Stacked on with his marine pants with those sweet red spoilers, he was easily the most stylish person in the entire Pokemon Center. "All those silly Contest kids WISH they were as good lookin' as me." One of those contestants walked by the door when he said that and scoffed.

"WHAT!" Mazarin shoved his face out of the door and pointed an accusing finger at the other boy, "PFTTTT. You just mad cause I'm stylin' on you. Now shoo, shoo." He waved his hands at the boy and then slammed the door in his face. "Alright so, time to get comf---" his eyes examined the rather small room.

"There's only one bed. Only..." he opened the door and very animatedly, ran down to the cafeteria and slid up to Train, leaning close in to her ear.

"Teehee, there's only one bed just for us teeheehehee"he whispered to her and then hopped a few feet back and dashed back in to the bedroom, jumping on to the singular bed. It creaked but bounced him up. "YAHAHA--AGH!" on his trip back down, he hit the edge of the bed and landed face down on the floor. "Well," he stood up and brushed himself off, "It's comfortable enough for our..." He deepened his voice, "passionate night of passion." And with that, he sat on the edge of the bed, waiting.

Alone.

No news had come from Leon in the Hoenn region regarding the whereabouts of the third and final relic. Team Rocket's translators have delved deeper into their mystery and found a connection. Where the original relic, from Kanto, had read a message regarding something known as 'The Original One' and 'The Egg Within Chaos', the Johto Relic provided quite a different tune. "Space," Giovanni muttered to himself. "And Time. And Anti-Matter." Bit by bit, these were connecting in one stream. He kept his arms crossed over his chest as a team of scientists continued to examine the two large tablets. He turned away and headed to another branch of his underground lab.

He had so many projects going on at once, it was hard to imagine that one man could keep control over all of it. But that was the kind of man Giovanni was; a man that had complete and total control. He could hardly fathom another mind as brilliant as he. But there was one other...a man from the Hoenn region. One who might know, or have a clue, to the whereabouts of the third and final relic. "Krem!" he ordered to a grunt, "Establish a connection with Maxie, leader of Team Magma! I have a few matters to discuss with him." The grunt nodded and ran ahead of Giovanni.

A few moments later, Giovanni entered his office and sat down in his large chair behind his sleek mahogany desk. His Persian sat beside him and bumped into his leg. He picked up a small glass of scotch, over ice, from his desk and he turned his chair to face the wall behind him, which opened up to reveal a screen. His right, ringed hand began to stroke the feline's soft and priceless fur. "Maxie," he said, "You're looking quite well."

“Welcome to the Pokemon Fan Club!!” An older man said with joy as Peine and Sel walked into the building. The man was sitting in the center of the room on a nice couch next to a cute looking blond wearing a green top. There was a table in front of the couch, and flanking it were two other couched. The one to the left of the table had another girl with her Seel, while the couch on the right was the spot of a heavier man with a Pikachu. “I’m Mr. Goodshow, the Chairman of the Pokemon Fan Club’s across the world.” The man said to Peine. “And what is your name my young friend??”

“I’m Peine Mononoke, and this is my Sneasel, Sel.” Peine said as he pointed to Sel.

“Snease!!” Sel said as she lifted back her head and waved.

“That is a marvelous Pokemon you have there,” Mr. Goodshow stated as he walked right up to Sel, petting her and picking her up. “Your Pokemon’s coat is all shiny, the claws are just the right length and sharpness…”

“Mr. Goodshow, I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”

“Why is that??” As Mr. Goodshow asked Peine that question, Sel, scratched the man’s face a couple times, it starting to bleed.

“Sel hates it when people hold her, you know I should’ve told you that before, shouldn’t have I??”

Mr. Goodshow looked up at Peine with a look of rage of his face. “Leave, before I let my two underlings here and there Pokemon make a game out of you.”

“Nice meeting you sir!!” Peine said as he grabbed a still angry Sel and sprinted out the door. ‘That was a close one.’

Jett promptly finished his salad during Scarlet's rant, his mouth set in a thoughtful frown as he took the last bite. He took a careful pause after the other male's question before the boy crunched into his apple.

River looked to her silent trainer, having finished her own food long before him. He didn't want to take such an easy seeming path, and the Psychic-type only smiled, shaking her head some. She knew very well that nothing about the world of Pokemon would be easy.

"Tell you what," Jett finally said, setting his apple down. "Let's shoot for the top together. What fun is it being alone, anyways?" Maybe I do want to shoot for the top... or be the best double-battle team in existance... or just travel... The boy grinned to the redhead, hoping he wouldn't be as blatantly rejected as he was with Leon. But I'll never find out unless I actually go out there.

"I feel the blueberry will suffice for today." Maxie said softly after sampling the morning's tea. "That will be all, Courtney."

"Yes sir," replied the Admin, bowing her head and exiting her boss's chambers. As most mornings in the Magma base, they began with a warm shower and a cup of tea. Maxie always believed that if one didn't make an effort to start each morning right, you would be hard pressed to get anything done right. He took another sip. "Just perfect."

The sun peaked through his office window, adding a bit of natural light to the office. From the looks of it, you wouldn't be able to tell that it was inside a volcano. The walls, the floor, everything was modeled after a corporate office. Even the temperature was perfectly controlled, steady 75 degrees.

For an hour or so, Maxie searched the recent headlines for any news on Team Aqua. To his pleasure, the big oaf seemed to be lying low. "After being thrashed by a few brats, he must need some time to lick his wounds." he chuckled. "That'll teach him to keep his minions on a leash."

At that moment, his screen began to flash. It was a call. "Giovanni?" Maxie read following another sip. "What would the Boss Rocket want with me?" he asked himself, bringing the cup to his lips again. He pressed the button to receive the call. "Good morning, Giovanni." he said, his voice calm. "To what do I owe this unexpected pleasure?"
