Her dark eyes glanced over the girl for a few moments. She gently tugged out a handkerchief from her obi, she brushed it against her cheeks to tone down the rose and then she smiled to her. "Beautiful. You don't need to worry about make up, Popo-chan. You and Luna-chan have a very natural beauty! Don't be afraid to show that off." Iy-chan smiled to them as she slipped on her geta and headed out to the sakura garden.

In front of the Okiya, a carriage pulled up. She was the newest addition to the Okiya. She was from a small town in Japan that was suffering from very low income. The young girl had been sold to the Okiya to gain an amount of money. She was lead to the door where she kept her head down, her black hair was slightly matted and her dark eyes were dull. The man who had brought her there knocked on the door as she stood in her light blue yukata with bare feet.1

After introducing herself to the okaa-san kiku left the room feeling a little lighter. Heading down to the kitchen kiku prepared tea and a bowl of the mixed vegtables for okaa-san. After making her short delivery kiku headed back into the kitchen and decided to tidy up a bit. Noticing that a few choice items were running low kiku made a list of key ingredants that would soon need refilling. Hearing a clatter coming from the entrance way kiku left the list on a counter and headed toward the noise. Glancing outside kiku notice Iyasu with her two younger sisters.
They seem to be in higher spirits. that's good. Such sad expressions don't fit such pretty faces. Smiling to herself kiku again headed toward the door.
Reaching the entrance kiku was met with a young girl acompanied by an older gentleman. Trying to be as polite as possible kiku welcomed them to the okiya.
"hello, welcome to the Mizunoyuri Okiya. My name is Kikuhito Futago can i help you?"

Just then, another carriage pulled up to the okiya. Out hopped a spritely young girl with bright eyes the colour of wheat. Even while wearing a dingy brown yukata, she looked happier than most young girls sold to the okiya. She walked quickly up to the entrance of the okiya. She waited, however, to introduce herself. It seemed as if the people already there were preoccupied with a discussion-the last thing the girl wanted to be was rude.

After greeting the new visitors kiku wished the man goodbye and lead the girl into the inner okiya. Taking in the girls appearance kiku smiled at the girl and sat her down.
"First things first. we need to get some socks on those dainty feet and i bet you would love to clean up a bit. Wate right here i'll be right back."
Running down the hall aimlessly kiku still didn't know where the laundry room was but after a few minutes of searching she found it. Inside the room kiku spied a bin full of new extra tabi. Across from the bin was a closet filled with extra yukatta. Grabbing a wash bassin, a rag, the tabi, and the yukatta kiku walked back to the front of the okiya. Stopping by the nearby bathroom kiku placed the items on the counter and went back to retrieve the girl. Upon entering the entrance kiku saw another girl wating to be addressed.
"Oh hello. I'll be with you in one second."
Approaching the previous girl kiku took her hands and lead her to the bathroom to get washed up. Entering the bathroom kiku turned to the girl,
"I can understand why you are so quite and believe me it's not necicarily (OOC: ugg spelling) a bad thing, but i do have one requirement." Looking into the girls dull eyes and smiling " I demand to know your name and i want it with a smile." Laughing a bit kiku turned to leave. "oh and if you need anything just give a hollar, the name's kiku if you forgot." Smiling again kiku headed toward the entrance to welcome the other girl.

Opening the gate and letting the new girl inside kiku introduced herself.
"hello and welcome to the Mizunoyuri okiya. My name is Kikuhito Futago but you can call me kiku."
Taking in the girls appearance she was glad that this girl seemed "happier" than the previous newcomer. Smiling at the girl kiku realized she probably would want to wash up to. Leading the girl to the upstairs bathroom kiku grabbed tabi, a wash basin, a rag, and a fresh yukatta from the laundry on the way. Entering into the upstairs bathroom Kiku placed the supplies on the counter and turned to the girl.
"Save the plesantries for later I can wate" Kiku smiled "when your done meet me down stairs in the kitchen it's the second room on the left. Oh and i'm glad your here, I think you'll be lots of fun. "smiling at the girl again kiku left the bathroom and headed into the kitchen.
Once in the kitchen kiku started preparing a meal of fish, miso soup, tea, and rice with mixed vegetables.

I don't know why everyone was so nervous about me going to the okiya. She seemed so kind.
She saw the other young girl and tried to introduce herself. But, no luck. The other girl didn't even look her in the eye.
Such a shame that she's so sad! She musn't be too happy to be here. I guess we'll have to change that at some point.
After the girl finished cleaning herself up, she headed downstairs to the kitchen, following the scent of miso wafting from her destination. As soon as the scent of the fish caught her nose, she knew she was in for a treat.
"Ummm, Kiku,", she quipped up in a sing-song voice "Hi, my name is ChunChe, ChunChe Miz-" She noticed that Kiku was still busy cooking. "Hey, would you like me to help with that?"

Finishing the last part of the meal kiku jumped slightly when she heard a sing song voice.
"Oh hello, chunche was it? What a cute name! Oh yes i could use a little help could you please just set the table in the dining are, it's there right across the hall. Oh and when your done could you bring the food out there? I'm going to run up and grab the laundry but i'll probably be back before your done."
Placing the food in the proper serving dishes kiku showed chunche where the dishes were located. Confident in Chunche's abilities kiku left to collect the laundry. Returning from the upstairs bathroom kiku smiled as she watched Chunche work.
It's like she has springs for feet. Her time here will most likely be....interesting
smiling to herself kiku headed toward the downstairs washroom. Aproaching the door kiku knocked lightly and opened the door a few inches. Seeing the discarded clothing by the side kiku snatched it up and closed the door.
Entering the laundry room kiku filled a large tub with water and placed the clothing into the tub. Leaving the garments to soak kiku walked out of the room, but as she turned toward the kitchen she noticed a girl wating by the Okiya entrance.
My gosh so many new recruits today. Kiku laughed. I have a feeling things are going to get a little.......wild around here.
Laughing to herself kiku walked towards the entrance to welcome the new girl. Opening the gate Kiku looked at the girl and smiled.
"Welcome to the Mizunoyuri Okiya. My name is Kikuhito Futago but you can call me Kiku. Are you hungry? We were just about to sit down to eat. please, join us." Smiling at the girl again kiku offered her hand.

Happy that she was of some use around the okiya, ChunChe waited no time in setting the table.
I know it's a relatively small task, but I have to keep in mind that everything I do here will count towards my being a maiko. So, why not do it with a smile on my face?
She looked up and saw that Kiku was gone. She figured that she must have had other business to tend to, so Chunche took ths time to do a little exploring. She decided to take a quick look outside. Walking along the wooden pathway, she admired the smells and sights of nature around her. She froze, however, when she saw a smaller house. Figuring that it's best to not step outside of her bounds, she went back inside of the okiya. Once she stepped inside, she heard water running from the upstairs bathroom from whence she came.
Another girl has shown up already? I hope she's friendlier than the other newcomer.
Noticing that there were a few utensils left to be washed, she took it upon herself to clean them until the new arrival entered.

After taking the newest girl to the upper bathroom kiku left her alone with her bathing supplies and told her how to reach the kitchen. Returning down stairs kiku noticed chunche finishing up the few dishes that were in the sink.
going into the dinning room kiku filled a few bowls, plates, and a pot of tea and set them on a tray. Carefull not to spill anything kiku took the tray up to Okaa-san and knocked on the the door lightly. After making her delivery kiku returned to the kitchen.
Noticing that Chunche had finished her task kiku motioned for the other girl to follow her into the dinning room.
"We should realy wate for the geisha and maiko to eat first but it seems they have gone on a little trip, but we'll put something away for them later,"
winking at chunche kiku sat down at the table and began serving the food.
"It's nice having someone to eat with again, so tell me about yourself?" asked kiku

"Well", began ChunChe, "I come from a relatively small community within Kyoto. My family used to be well off, until my dad left us-my mom, my four younger siblings, and myself."
She paused for a moment to let her slight feeling of anger subside-then, she continued.
"We were getting by for awhile until my mom found out that my father left her with a little present-a baby. Her and I both knew that she wouldn't be able to support the rest of us and a baby too. So, I convinced her to sell me to the okiya so she could have extra money to help out the new arrrival. So, after my little sister was born, the plans were made to send me here-and, here I am.
"I can tell that I'm going to miss my family greatly-I'm especially going to miss seeing my sister grow up. But, in all, it was for the greater good, so I support how things turned out. I figure that since I'm already here, I can make the best of the situation and succeed at my task of becoming a geisha."

kiku munched on her meal listening intently to chunche's story. She to had an unspoken vendeta against her own father and felt the trajedy that befell her own family was all his fault.
"such a brave girl you are, to voluntarily leave your family, the ones you hold dear, and do it with such a bright attitude and outlook. You are definitly a strong person."
Hearing about chunche's family kiku thought about her own. Surely chunche would be able to visit her family again someday....but kiku only had her memories to keep her company.
"It won't be so bad. Just think about it as you've left one family only to come into another. And i know that you won't be able to see your family all the time, but i have heard of cases where some geisha still go to see their families. And i know you won't be able to see your younger sister grow up but being a little sister myself i cherish all of my siblings and i loved them dearly."
Once again thinking of her own sisters kiku became a bit teary eyed and turned her attention towards her plate. Not feeling as hungry as she once did kiku piled her plates and waited for Chunche to finish.

Although Kiku's response was favorable, ChunChe couldn't help but notice a slight-sadness. She wasn't sure if it was her story or a personal matter within Kiku. She figured that she shouldn't ask, at least not now. Something told her that she'd find out when the time came.
Finishing her meal, she joined Kiku in washing the dishes, and attempted making conversation to learn more of her new home.
"So, what exactly does me coming here entail? I mean, I understand that my ultimate goal is to become a geisha, but is there anything that I need to be aware of-like, how to impress the okaa-san, or which geisha to be wary of?"
