Nyx:It doesn't look like she can hear you at all now. Layla:Xiao nods, but continues to stay back to avoid the water. Everyone:The girl dives under the water. Sand-Claw can feel the waves coming up, meaning the girl is going straight down.

"Why did you attack me Nyx? I was going to play with in the water with my friend!" I call back to the shore loudly and cheerfully, still not knowing how loud it really is. But I ignore Nyx's gesture for now, because I'm worried about the girl.

I instinctively step away from the water when I notice the electric current flow through it. I groan in pain from the screaming, but try my best to shake it off. Realizing that Nyx was the cause, I return to my original goal and kneel back down to try observing the water again, this time going as far as to scoop some up in my right hand.

I slump dramatically in resignation and facepalm. If they're gonna drown, then they're gonna drown. At least I can walk away knowing I tried to warn them. I wipe my hand down my face and let out a long puff of air as I stare incredulously at Sand-Claw. Jase would be having a field day with my failure to have any impact on thse two idiots. I can just imagine him. Laughing and pointing. Like an immature 12 year old.

10:10 AM Nyx:"Maybe you should be more trusting?" Xiao suggests. She leans in close. "But only a little, like Layla," she whispers in your ear. "Sand-Claw is just a little too carefree." Sand-Claw:The girl resurfaces, but only up to her nose. She does not look happy, but she's a lot closer to you than before. Also, Nyx looks a little defeated, if not a tad depressed. But it doesn't last long. Apollo:The water doesn't seem to have an odd consistency or anything, and the bit you scoop up feels perfectly normal, suggesting that the magic is coming from something in the lake, rather than from the water itself.

I spat in a very feline manner at Xiao, though this is largely from a sharp pang in my chest at the thought of Jase. "What? Was I supposed to just stand by and let Sand-Claw and Apollo behave like morons before we were able to discern whether or not that mermaid is dangerous?"

I sigh shortly and dump the water back into the lake. I still really wanted to know what was producing so much energy, but if it resided at the bottom of this lake, it seemed impossible for me to reach. And yet, the water keeps me enthralled as I stare longing into it, hoping to perhaps see what lies underneath the surface.

While the other kept themselves busy with whoever the girl was, and having lost all interest in the situation, had chosen to scout ahead a bit in hope of finding something more interesting.
