The dragon's flame caught him off-guard...what game was he playing now? but he also knew that the black one if he'd been intended to, would have hit the ship. and the bronze was not his concern at the moment anyhow.

"Captain Deacon...you're outgunned and I got the wind! Surrender your ship and her cargo and I won't be forced to sink her!"

Hunter stood up on teh railing and brandished his pistol.

"You'll have my cargo or my ship when you can pry it out of my cold dead fingers, you bloated worm!"

before hopping down and grabbing Mister Richards.

"get us some speed, mister richards, the Claw has her wings out, she should be fine for now. turn this ship round and full sails forward. Well pick up Des once we've got some clearance."

moving around his ship.

"Caden, go below, get two of my cannons up on deck, and supplies to fire them. Shyrae, keep the sails as sharp and full as you can. The rest of you dogs take your stations!"

Fang smirked when he noted that Deacon was trying to keep the Chimera in the way of the Claw. glancing back at one of the crew.

"Give her a taste of our long nines. then fire our ballista. aim for rudder. well snare her and make her unable to steer if she gets loose. if Deacon wants to stay in the way...ram through him. we'll drive through his smaller ship like parchment."

though more to himself at this point.

"Never is an awful long time, missy. and your luck just ran out."

"Areesa... I know you're mocking him but you'll give everyone headaches in the process." His light had dimmed a bit more now but its attention was on Kaznec and having the connection that they did, Xeke took the time to relay a personal message of his own to the dragon. No one could win if their spirits were down. A ping of energy zipped through him then and thus through the wood the blue light floated, until all three Seons were topdeck, rather amusingly safe as they observed the action. "That's why I don't like it, he had no reason to after all these years. But now he seems to be following Kaz or just this group in general."

The news was not good, objective or not. It had started and there was absolutely no excuse as to why he shouldn't be up there and in the fray himself. It seemed like every time this happened, a part of him that had long since been buried crept out and demanded he prove himself all over again. Taking Jae's offered hand, he stood up and nodded, facial expression now hardened into something else altogether. "Even if we did have a choice, we have to choose to do the right thing." For Ilindal and for his father. But he gave her the briefest flash of a smile as they headed topdeck... He knew she was trying to comfort him, to ease his anxieties about certain things.

Appraising the situation calmly for a moment, he turned to her just as the command was given to clear the ship. "The Claw is going to need more wind. Outrunning them is the priority now. If we can avoid a fight, then we should. If not, then at least we can attempt to slow Fang down for now." And if the Riders reappeared, then they would act accordingly. "Be careful, Jae." Glancing up as a heatwave created by his uncle hit him, he took to the air and transformed through a puff of crimson mist. First things first, he would continue Desdemona's work. Fang may be superior but he wasn't indestructible, and his ship certainly wasn't either. Flames were unleashed into the sails, burning them into swiss cheese replicas, and he turned his attention to the cannons, swooping by to wrench a few from their mounts and then hurtling them back at the ship to create the satisfying sound of splintering wood and falling masts.

"Below deck. They won't be up until it's all over." Nodding to Hunter, Shyrae instantly began doing just as she'd been told, watching Fang advance even faster and wishing there was something she could do to turn this more in their favor. Her power was pretty limited right now though and she whistled through her teeth. "Help the dragons."

Spyrit snorted and shook her fiery mane then began galloping on air around the Serpent, the flames licking off her hooves, catching the already burnt sails with even more fire. Every once in a while she'd swoop close enough to knock one of Fang's men in the head with a hoof and then dart back up though they were getting smarter and she'd almost been shot four times now.

"Sylin does too." Pouting at that, she drifted up to the top of the deck and sat there, staring out at the battle and communicating with her own mistress. She was to be her mistress' eyes in the areas where she couldn't and she was also the link between Eilynne and Rahsaveer, communicating with both as her ball hummed and, in a rare act that revealed how much she was doing, ceased bouncing altogether.

Satisfied that Des was safe, she took to the air and began helping Kaznec, letting bolts of electricity fly down. Eilynne had one advantage over traditional dragons. In this form, she could use any element that she had in her large repertoire without changing forms. Dipping down below under the cover of shadow, she began burning the wood of the ship, searching for the store of gunpowder that would send the Serpent completely up in flames. Sure, it would explode but if Rahsaveer and the others were far enough ahead, one less enemy would result and they'd be safe. Jaebell! Freeze his weapons! Kaz, continue to disarm him anyway possible but don't stay in that form too long!

Pulling energy from the world around him was exhausting work but he was adding to the wind and trying to get the Claw and Chimera to move even faster. Things did not look good for the home team and he was also coordinating moves with Eilynne, lending her his energy as best he could.

He punched another of his crewmates out and watched the man drop like a stone. "Get him out of here. I told you before I'm not leaving. Do as your Captain commanded and leave me to my own." Stepping back up on deck and shaking his head. "Don't start, Gem. You won't go below and I won't get off."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 9:31 pm

Bang, Caden was off like a bullet out of a pistol. Below he was ordering most of the crew to help him get two cannons and all of the supplies needed for them. Moments later half of the group was carrying up said supplies while the others make a makeshift rigging and was pulling up a cannon, about fifteen minutes later the first on was on the deck with help from those above and then they set out to do the next one. This one took a little longer but with the sounds of cannon fire it made them work faster. When they finally got the second one above Caden rushed back up and watched as the crew was beginning to load the cannons. "Alright Hunter your cannons are here!" He shouted as he went over and began helping them put the cannons into position for firing.

Sylin seemed less annoyed by Areesa…then again Sylin was quite stoic in it’s way unless it got really upset or excited. But the trio of lights were left to watch what was going on around them. “Mayhaps he realized the Value of dwelling on what Remains rather than what Does Not.”

Heading up behind him, she took a look around with plans quickly forming in her head in accordance to the points that Kaznec was bringing up. But a look to him and a little nod. “I will be.” Thusly odd with her in the opposite direction…her smaller size was probably going to be an advantage to all of this on her side. After all, there were plenty of big targets to aim for and plenty of room for her to slip through things. Thusly a leap from the ship to the air, silvery mist marking her own change and she banked back around as Eilynne’s voice filtered into her head. That she could do…didn’t know how long it would hold but she could at least give a fly by. Thusly gliding low along the sand with a blast of ice in her wake left behind to gum up canons a moment…with all the fire around it wouldn’t last too long, but everything helped. A few aerobatics to weave around fire herself because that would not be a happy feeling. Keeping straight in her flight path it was a momentary air breaks behind the ships, which wings beats provided a bit more push to sails even if it left her a tad vulnerable from the back with that lack of armor scaling.

This was devastating and horribly frightening despite all her bravado…what with her ship taking damage and what not. She knew Fang was in range for even more serious damage and all she could do was hope for the best. But if her ship was going down, she was going down with it. A blink though as it seemed more dragons added to the mix before that familiar voice brought her eyes back down. “Stop playing mutiny and save your skin you stupid man!” But she was pretty sure he wasn’t going anywhere…it was just him. As aggravating as that was at the moment. She knew what she was doing, she was the bait now.

Okay…so there was another wrench in the plans. Though not his plans…Fangs plans really. Hey, he never said that he was responsible if the other dragons did happen to step in…damn those two young dragons and their little marking ritual. He’d just have to find a way to put an end to that…they hadn’t done everything involved in that ritual, it was easy to tell…which meant they just needed a wedge to work between them. But on to more important things. Des on his back was barely slowing him as he moved along the sands at a brisk pace. Looking more like he was trying to keep pace with retreated ships than the pursuing one.

He watched half entranced and half in fear. Dragons were rarely pack gangers but it seemed these ones weren't going to hold back. It was a battle on the seas of ships and dragons He turned his eyes to the one in his own midst. "It is wise to go after a pack like that? We may want to find better ways...despite the tips."

Fang was prepared for this. he remember the dragons, and didn't move from his spot on the deck. he'd made this deal a long time ago, and sent one member of his crew back into his cabin. and he came back out with something that looked like a blowgun, and he brought a box as well.

Fang opened the box, and pulled something out that looked like a squid with little barbs on it. the blowgun he waited paitently...and then shot kanzec with a dart. he wouldn't even feel it. but he'd feel it when this thing attached to him.

the squid creature caught the phermonal scent, and when Kanzec came in for another strike at his cannons, the tossed the little thing on him. there was no way Kanzec would be able to get it off in his natural form, it was too tiny for him to get. like trying to kill a flea with a pillow.

but once attached, it would do the damage. it would quickly drain his energy, until he'd be weak as a newborn babe and forced into neutral form just as weak as a child. and he had one for Bell too...after shooting a few ballista shots at her to force her gliding around close enough. only had three more of those after that.

Too bad the nomad tribe that used to use dragons as food and house supplies died out years ago. well, they brought it on themselves for not paying thier just dues.

Hunter looked over at Gem, and handed the wheel to Richards while helping his crew pull up Gem's from thier longboats.

"Is there anything I can do to get you moving better?"

looking back at Fang's ship, dealing with the two dragons. that should keep him more than busy. but anyone knew that Fang had dragon experience. He had to to live out here and only come to ports rarely for new crew and supplies the nomads couldn't get.

"Keep an eye for Riders...we know they are notorious for picking on weakened prey."

Desdemona was twitching, but no where near concious yet. she'd probably been hit with at least three shots to the head, and a few in the body. whicih was probably for the best, she undoubtably would not be happy being on the Black's back.

Eilynne's voice resounded in his mind again and he acknowledged it but decided that he hadn't done all that he could yet. Fang's ship was still plowing forward, at a slower speed than before due to the damage they had all caused, but still not slow enough. He saw what Jae was doing to their cannons though and realized the counter effects his own breath weapon would do. It was time for another method then... Avoiding retaliation from Fang's crew, he swooped in and started picking off single pirates from the side, tossing them out into the sands or back at the ship from a certain height. Enough force to injure, not enough to kill. He didn't want to be taking lives if he didn't have to, but the only way to cripple a ship was to take away what fueled it and that was its crew. Keeping eyes peeled for signs of Riders still, he caged yet another pirate in his claws and took to the air again until he felt a twinge of... something... just behind his arm. Did he get hit by a splinter or something else? But another twinge and he lost his grip on the man, dropping him from the skies only to see him grossly impaled onto one of the Serpent's masts. This wasn't right... the pain wasn't supposed to start there and certainly not this soon either...
PostPosted: Tue Jan 29, 2008 2:31 pm

Then the third...and a new dragon.

"Put out those fires. she'll be not threat soon enough, keep us going."

"captain..the sails, the damage. we can't take much more. we're putting too much stress on her trying to fend of dragons and keep pace to the Claw."

Fang turned his attention to the crew member, and glanced around at his ship. he knew this ship better than any living thing.

"She'll hold. the dragons won't a be a problem too much longer. Did you alert the others?"

"Yes. but I doubt they'll come with three dragons working together."

"Time. all we have to do is wait. and if that black one tries to doublecross us, I got something for him...same as the other two."

though..a look at the red one, and another look at the black one..they looked like they could have been in the same brood. maybe a generation or two apart, but thier horns, thier body structure was remarkably similar. either that or it was just a genetic fluke. but it would explain black's actions to 'protect' those ships.

"Get our cannons unfroze, get us battle ready. I want the Claw, and her captain. we've come too far to just turn back at the first sign of a real fight!"

Hunter helped Caden move the cannons up on the back of his ship, just past the helm.

"Alright, get them ready to fire. you know how to load a cannon, I presume?"

Or he was going to get a crash course in it.

"Aim for Eilynne. she's moving enough that we shouldn't really risk hitting her, but I want our cannon fire to hit right where she nails the hull of the Serpent. She's a big ship, the little damage her breath weapon does to wood won't slow her much. but weakened wood with a cannon fired into it might get him to start taking on sand."

He stared her down easily enough, though they both knew they didn't have time for this. He wasn't going to let her sacrifice herself under any circumstances and he certainly wasn't going to give her up to Fang. "Keep going, Gem. At least make him chase you."

Monitoring the other dragons closely, she continued using her Seon's advanced knowledge to find the area where the gunpowder was stored. The wood was thick but- Pulling up short for a moment as a cannonball crashed into the spot she was just at, her glared zeroed in on Hunter until she realized what he was doing. Moving faster, she began increasing the power behind her breath weapon by changing it to match the black's, not that it would really do anymore damage. "Areesa, status check. Find out how Kaznec and Jaebell are doing. Commune with Xeke, I need instant reports. The minute Desdemona is battle ready, we need her assistance."

The dragons seemed to have the effort outside the ship handled so she halted and began breathing fire at one particular spot, doing everything she could to weaken it. It was time for an interior job. "Caden, aim carefully. Repeated blows to one spot, I need to get inside."

The yellow ball flickered in response and zipped through Xeke three consecutive times, finally settling inside him so that the green glow was given off. Dropping the frequency of her hums, the aura of green surrounding them began to grow and sparkle as though it was electric. "Lynnie, he's hurt! Bellah's focusing too hard, I can't read anything...."

Ushering in more winds, he provided more resistance to slow the Serpent down before lightning lashed down from the clouds several times and finally striking one of the masts, causing it to break in half and topple to the decks below.

Doing as her mistress bid, she gave no concern to her own safety and continued to irritate any pirates that were foolish enough to come near her. Landing on the far side of the deck, she reared and whinnied, eyes rolling as she began trampling pirates beneath her fiery hooves.

That wasn't in the deal. He hated himself...he really did. Sabatoging his own plans...but there were some things that you just couldn't let go and this was one of them...or partially at least. Des was momentarily slid to the sand a good distance ahead and he turned tail and sprinted back across the sand, giving a hop up into the air and heading for Kaznec. It was more than easy enough to air pounce him and drop them both into the sand with of course some clawing and what not as ships proceeded to slid past them. "Hold still." Sharp talons raked down his nephew's hide, trying to catach and remove that squid like creature...Sae was old enough to know such things. Last thing he wanted was his sister's son killed from a weakened state. The white? Well he could care less about that one.

Back to the fray with her, trying to keep out of the way yet close enought to layer on more ice over cannons that the heat was trying to melt away. But now she had to play doge with shot from Fang as well...she was just happy that she was less clumsy in this form. Ow...what was that? Did she get clipped? Of course divided attention was bad for someone like her, meant a change in flight path as she had suddenly looked, a pull of wings and thus she more or less crashed into what was left of a mast on their deck, just small enough in her size to fall to the deck...which was a very bad place to be. Thus an flare of electricity and lashing her tail about to ward pirates off as she worked to free herself of caught rigging and such. At least at the same time she was distracting crew from it's job.

She narrowed her eyes but turned her attention back to what she was doing. "Very well then. Make sure my crew is to the Chimera and safe. And then tighten your bootstraps Mister Robins, we're in for a ride." She'd stay with her ship until it was no longer able to run the sand. And even then she'd probably have to be forcibly removed from the remains. She grabbed the helm and widened her steps before tossing the wheel to port, breaking off the straight path and angling away from the Chimera.

Sylin seemed to watch in a very calm and stoic matter. Either uncaring for what was happening, or purposefully forcing itself to be calm was debateable. "When the World was Merciless...they banned Together. And unto Themselves they wrought a new Foundation." Blinking a few times.

This just got better and better didn't it. moving to avoid a mast, and then a dragoness on his ship.

"Leave her be! pay attention to the others!"

letting his crew continue to try and keep a good pace and deal with Eilynne..though black had confirmed suspicions. he was trying to get that thing he was sure. but he'd be hard pressed to find it, especially if the red was going to try and rescue his friend here on his deck.

Speaking of which. she was caught in the rigging and such of the downed mast...but the crew was doing as they were told and leaving her be to struggle. Fang watched her, eyes emotionless. the more she writhed and struggled, the more that little parasite was going to work. The Nightmare...well...they were working on lassoing her. keeping the mare just as distracted as the few crew tending to it. no one was getting close to those hooves again. and several were injured. if things didn't turn in his favor soon, he may have to let the Claw go...perhaps take the Chimera instead.

"The more you struggle, the worse it gets, lass. Now...you want to call off your friends, or shall we cut you out of the equation?"

Hunter watched the Claw veer off...stubborn woman.

"All hands, get ready. we're going to give teh claw some cover. we all know Fang wants Captian Nereem."

Looking at Caden.

"Fire those cannons!"

before a look at Mister Richards.

"See if we can get to Des before someone else does."

Existing only for communication purposes, most Seons were usually blatantly observant and nonchalant in their ways. If there was nothing one could do, there was no reason to panic. But they still had personality and thus while Sylin bobbed calmly in place, blue light was flaring to reflect Xeke's own version of Areesa's urgency. "Bell needs help, before Fang decides to use her as leverage." But he couldn't help but also be curious as to why Sylin was here, now. "No one is ready for a shift in the world's hierarchical structure. Not yet anyway."

He was still trying to figure out just why his condition had flared half an hour too early when he was more or less attacked in midair. A flash of recognition crossed his features and then golden eyes flecked orange. What was he doing? He had been helping Desdemona just seconds ago. Unless... he hadn't been carrying her to safety, he'd been hauling her off. He wasn't on their side... "Get off me!" And then pain scraped across his body and he fought against his uncle even harder, a roar erupting in his throat and steaming the already heatstroked air around them. Even scales weren't completely resistant to obsidian-hard claws but as much as he lashed out with his own and his tail, he was still no match for a larger dragon.

With the help of Hunter, much to his surprise, Caden was actually able to move the cannons with a few other crew members right into the spot past the helm. "Yeah I know how to load and fire a cannon give a minute." In which he went about doing so getting the other crew members with him to load the second one. Though he was a little surprised at the plan and didn't say a word but instead began to line it up with the spot that was intended to be shot at. But when Eilynne spoke to him he paused and nodded again. "I got two loaded it should be enough, damn balls are heavy enough as they are."

So he waited, the fuses were short so the cannons can fire right at the moment they were lit. So when Hunter shouted Caden lowered his torch and off went the first cannon, the iron ball flying through the air and struck Fang's ship hard. The second cannon went off right after that, hopefully the two shots worked but still Caden and the crew were busy loading them again just so they could make some more damage.

Spyrit was at Jae's side in a flash, lashing out with hooves to keep everyone and anyone away from her. She began trampling the ropes around the entangled dragon, attempting to use fire to burn through them. Intelligent creatures, Nightmares were, and she whinnied to Jae, attempting to gain her cooperation and keep her still.

Eilynne watched the cannonball sear through the side of the hull and ordered Caden to fire again, finally breaking a large enough hold for her to slip inside. She transformed instantly, becoming a dog as she scoured the inside for his storage. Meanwhile her mind was busy calling on other allies. Rider dragons had bestial mentalities and Eilynne had a certain measure of control over the beasts just as Rahsaveer had control over elements of nature. Hearing various added roars, she continued to sniff around. Once she had the location of the volatile powder, it would be a simple matter of directing cannonfire to that spot until the hoard caught fire and the ship exploded. And she knew Fang had a huge store of it. He had too many weapons that used it to not. She jerked at the sound of Kaznec's roar and immediately asked Areesa what was going on.

He yelled out orders as a hoard of dragons yanked, burned, and clawed their tethers and took to the sky, flying towards the Serpent and working to help distract and bring the ship to a stop. "Who gave orders?! Nobody steals my mounts! Heads will roll for this." He watched one of his prize mounts slam into the side of the Serpent with no care whatsoever for its own body and cursed as another one was shot right out of the sky. "We're going to lose half our damn fleet!"

"He pulled something on them...I don't know what but it's spreading fast. And now Blackie's got Kazzy. They're sparring...Blackie's on top...no, wait, Kaz-oh, Blackie again..." Pausing again as the dragons scuffled. "Wanna tell someone to get their behind over there and help Bellah?"

He went about doing as he'd been told, ensuring that all others were off the ship and the longboats were heading for the Chimera. He grabbed onto the rigging and held as the ship was racked with cannonballs, shaking the entirety of the ship. One mast came down and made a huge hole in the deck of the ship. Holes in their sails slowed her down even more and even the Wings couldn't compensate once the sails were decimated and holes riddled the Claw's side. The ship groaned and coasted to a slow stop, a sitting duck in the sands. He glanced back and saw Fang coming on too fast, shaking his head. "We have to abandon, Gem. I know you don't want to leave her but if we leave her now, Fang won't tear her to shreds. He wants you, not your ship."

"Not the World. Merely the Place and Time. When the races Band they Prevail." Bobbing higher for a moment as if it was looking to the sky, flaring in color a moment before again calming to that steady intensity. "Power never trumps Heart."

"Hold still or you're going to make things worse!" Did not help to have his nephew struggling against his help, but it was understandable, Kaznec didn't know what he was doing. He knew he was taking out a fair amount of scales, but he was trying not to dig too deep to injure the boy. Gold eyes searched quickly where his talons disrupted, thus irritating the creature and distracting it from it's job...and there it was. Another good swipe of claws with a few scales and off came the bugger on those scales. Hopping off Kaznec he nosed under the smaller dragon's body to get him quickly back up. "Now go!" Of course he had to throw his two cents into fang, moving back over to the boat and skidding to a stop in the sand, spraying a way of it from the motion and slamming his tail into the side of the boat, tail blades digging in and ripping the side up high near hte railing, taking a good chunk of deck and the railing as he gave a roar and growl and direct look at Fang...he knew what he'd done wrong and why even a little retribution was warranted. Wasn't damage that would slow Fang down, but it got a point across.

Electricity wasn't the best thing for burning through ropes, but it did gave a nice zap to anyone who got close enough to be wiped at with claws or tail. But her attention turned to the captain that addressed her and she gave a huff of breath that came out cold, speaking of further threats. "They won't cower to you. You're not even a pirate, you're a monster." Slamming a paw down on the deck to send a streak of energy this way as well as a bolt of frost from her thoat. She's wreak damn havoc on this boat if she was stuck here. Wasn't much they could honestly do to hurt her. But a blink at the horse that was suddenly at her side...and hey that horse had fire! Fire was good right now. Thusly she did her best to stay still...but it was hard when trying to nab pirates. Hell she'd chew off Fang's arm and enjoy it if he got close enough. Though she was quickly starting to feel tired as if she'd been using too much energy and power too fast.

She was going to lose her ship...she knew it the moment she felt the change in how she moved over the sands. Fang was too loaded with weapons and there wasn't too much she could do about that. She had no crew save for her ever loyal first mate and herself. And everyone knew, once a ship was downed in the sand with tattered sails and the like, half ready to rip in half...there was nothing you could really do save salvage parts. However....Mister Robins was smart in approaching Gem on the whole thing...everyone knew that ship was her livelyhood and loosing it was a horrid thing. "Right...come on then, we'll grab the glider and catch the wind off of her, and hope Fang spares her...I can always come back for her." She couldn't believe she was doing this but he was right...Fang wanted her, not her ship. See...she knew the glider was a good idea. All a matter of grabbing the small important things and a quick run launch from the figurehead.

Yup...it was a bad month. But he was more level headed than his 'commander' and merely slapped a palm over his face, shaking his head. "No one gave order. Something's got them riled....could be the other dragons." Watching as they acted as any rider born dragon, merely following orders without care for what happened to themselves. "Count the losses you moron or get your own dragon self over there! Don't be daft and think trying to retrieve them is a good idea." Jerking the reins of his own mount to call it back to his own order.
