Any Final Fantasy fans around here? Finally playing through FFXII and loving it. Don't know why I never finished in the first place. I think I just didn't have a very big attention span when it first came out.

Dragon Age Origins has reminded me why I love, but mostly hate, fantasy RPGs. I don't think it helps I'm playing it on PC. I'm not a big PC gamer unless we count SNES emulators. IT IS NOT A BAD GAME. I just generally don't like fantasy RPG if it isn't a MMORPG. Running around trying to control my little team only makes me wonder "Why can't there be another person doing this with me?"

Having just beat Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 today, I can totally empathize with that, but as crazy as I am I still prefer party based plot driven RPGs (which MUA2 most definitely is not) to MMORPGs.

I've been a big fan of the franchise since FFIII on the SNES. I've been plugging away at twelve here and there since it first came out. I'm not a huge fan of the game mechanics or the plot so there's nothing really driving me to pick it up again over my current games but I'm sure that I'll go back to it and do some more fairly soon (depending on what other releases catch my eye of course).

I'm kinda drifting in and out of the plot. I do like the mechanics of the game thought it was interesting to take out random encounters. I'm looking foreword to FFXIII. Any word on how class/skills will work? I like the license system in 12 but with the right accessory I have every skill and I have no reason to have anyone specialize in anything.

Man, I know all kinds of people who hate on random encounters from dawn until dusk and I just don't get it. The only thing more quintessentially Final Fantasy than random encounters is that the enemy is always either a religious or political establishment, which is so hilarious coming from a country whose politicians are more overtly corrupt than the LAPD and no one cares.

For my money the mechanics of the X/X-2 were most interesting. You could swap characters/classes on the fly which opened up a lot more tactical options. I remember grinding like hell in X-2 so that I could bring all three out as gunners and just unload on enemies. You could come up with the weirdest tactics in that game. I bought my PS2 for that game. sweatdrop

I bought mine for X i have X-2 but haven't played through the whole thing maybe I will go back to it. I don't mind the random encounters it was just kinda neat to see something new.

I've played Final Fantasy games since the first one on NES(except 11...not a big MMORPG guy). I've only could not finish two due disliking them...one was X-2 and the other was XII. I really disliked the Gambits and the board in XII. I also found the characters a bit bland and the story sloooooooow.

yeah I didn't like X-2, but I don't even count that as a FF game, more like a fan fiction gone wrong.
I haven't played all of them, but so far I'm not too keen on FFV, not sure why but it feels like a chore to play it.

I have a confession to make. I am such a geek that in the back of my head while playing MUA2 I was keeping a mental tally of how many of the playable characters in the game are represented in Kapow and how many per handler.

sweatdrop

Lex took the top prize (Venom, Deadpool, Daredevil, The Hulk). Nick came in second (Fury, Goblin, Herc) although I think maybe Roy tied him for that. Powell was cruelly shafted on two fronts because neither Bullseye nor Nova were playable, which is just ********' dumb. I clocked in with two, but most of my Marvel characters are X-Men anyway.

Sadly, Herc was non-playable. I'm holding out for the next DLC package.

Nick: For some reason I thought he was. Whenever I play these games I find one team and then just ride through to the end with them, variety be damned so I tend to make lapses like that. Guess that means Roy takes second place. xd

Jean: That's the spirit! It's kind of funny that I even think of these things because I kicked Tony off my team for Deadpool even though I barely tolerate the character, he was just too powerful to bench. That and for like half the missions on the first play through you couldn't even use Tony. If you're going to make a game meant to be lead by Tony and Cap then bloody well let people use Tony and Cap. Which reminds me that in every goddamn one of these games going back to the first X-Men Legends you're stuck with ******** Wolverine for the first 1-3 missions. Just give me a bloody game where I can ignore his hairy a** the whole way through if you won't let me play as Squirrel Girl. scream

And when I say Nova I mean Darkhawk. I had New Warriors on the brain at the time cause of Stanford and all. xp

My team through MUA2 was pretty consistently Thor, Deadpool, Human Torch and The Hulk. Sometimes I switched Torch up for the Goblin or Penance. Didn't really play as Nick at all, since he was ridiculously overpowered. I was hoping for the same playable him we got in the first one.

I enjoyed FFX when a friend of mine let me use their system. Though there are only soo many reasons you can go over to someone else's house to play their games when they work about 3 different jobs... So haven't played it for a long while.

I was searching for some FF games for the Wii. (Even though my parents are like, "Oooohhh! You won't owe us any money if that's ours. Is that ours?" And to think if i had bought a laptop with the money i had saved They would have ignored it as mine.)

I did find a game for the Wii named Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon that looks like it'll be fun.

Though unfortunately I am unable to locate any of the other FF games for the Wii system.

FF III is a lot of fun for the DS. Though I sold an item in the beginning and it will not let me beat it.. I've been really lazy about going back through the whole thing to suceed.
