Anti-coast? Clears the coast? Keegan repeated mentally, raising an eyebrow. It had seemed like Mike had been talking to someone, but given his state of mind, Keegan didn't doubt the possibility of it for even a moment. "Had you not stopped, I might not have noticed you," he admitted, nudging the basket with his foot. "Help yourself, there's some left. Couldn't eat them all myself," he chuckled, absently running his hand along Helios' back, enjoying the warmth radiating from the Pokemon's body. He had definitely noticed an increase in the fox's temperature since his evolution. As a Vulpix, he was warm, yes, but now it was like sitting next to furnace with fur. Piles of fur of which was now his responsibility to brush and keep clean. "I think I took all the good ones though," he added after a moment or two, as the silence felt awkward. ===== "Electric-types? No, not in this area," Miharu answered, looking around. "But I suppose it would depend on what you'd be comfortable raising. I wanted a Mareep because I battled a girl who was raising a Flaaffy, and I thought it was the cutest thing." She hadn't given much thought into what Sparkle would be like if she evolved past her Flaaffy stage, but she was happy to see the Ampharos had seemingly retained her jolly nature. What other Electric-types are there? she thought as the two of them had started walking, and she listed off the ones she knew from memory quietly to herself. "Pikachu, Raichu, Pichu, Magnemite, Magneton, Voltorb, Electrode, Jolteon, Mareep, Flaaffy, Ampharos, Chinchou, Elekid, Electabuzz..." There were others from the Hoenn and Sinnoh regions too, but she wasn't familiar with any of them at all. "Depends on your preference," she said, shrugging. "And also, if there was something specific you wanted, we could always go looking for it. That would give us a destination, at least."

Sam overheard Miharu muttering the names to herself. She immediately crossed Electrode off her list, but other then that, they were all viable candidates...
"Chinchou? Oh that was the one I was forgetting. Chinchou...I know those. They lit up the sea around Cianwood at night. They were pretty. I remember thinking I'd like one because they were just weird, a Water and Electric type. Hmm....Where could I find a Chinchou, Miharu? They live in the water...How would I get it?"

Miharu tapped her finger to her chin, deep in thought. She'd encountered a Chinchou before, she just couldn't seem to place where. "I'm guessing your best bet would be through fishing," she said, shrugging. "Unless you feel like diving in and trying to drag an electrified fish out of the water. I'm sure that wouldn't go over well." She giggled a bit, but stopped abruptly when she suddenly recalled the one time she'd met a Chinchou...
She had made it to New Bark Town with little difficulty, and acquired a PokeDex and her trainer's license from Professor Elm. There was a large body of water on the eastern end of town and Miharu had decided to test out her Good Rod, though at first she caught nothing but Magikarp (but it had given a young Lily some good battling experience by Tackling the fishes back into the lake). She'd been about to give up when she had felt a much stronger tug on her line, and after a fierce struggle she finally hauled up her catch, only to find that the Pokemon on the end of her line wreathed in electricity. Needless to say it had startled her a great deal, as she'd abandoned her fishing rod and turned tail and fled, returning later to find no trace of the Electric-type Pokemon, but her rod was still in one piece, at least.
Miharu's head jerked up as she snapped out of her reverie, and she grinned as she looked over at Sam. "New Bark Town," she said quickly, nodding. "Chinchou live in the lake east of New Bark Town. I fished one up there once, but it scared me so much I'd ran away."

"It doesn't matter. I've eaten enough dirt that even bran muffins and carrots would taste good right now." Mike grabbed one such confection and shoveled it into his mouth. Just the fact that something was inside his mouth that was edible was enough to make him happy, and he continued to inhale muffin after donut after muffin. "Ooh! Missed one!" he said with a smile, grabbing the snacks that were on the ground and covered in dirt and eating them without hesitation. "Ha, crunchy!" he said, giggling as he chewed what may be his least favorite food in the entire world.
"Guess what?" Mike asked his friend. "It's my birthday!" he blurted out, shotgunning bits of food onto the ground in front of him. "I'm an adult! A legally triable adult! Aha! Ahaha! Which is good!" he leaned in, lowering his voice to a whisper. "Because after today. I very well might be! Hee-hee-hee-hee! Isn't that great Helios?" Mike said, looking at the Ninetales and rubbing his cheeks. "Issn'tthaaatgreeeaaaaat?"
------
Sasha nodded. Kasiya was right. "Most likely z'he gym." she replied. "Eet's hidden enough where we won't be noticed, not to mention Mike has a s'hing for volcanic mountains." She turned slightly red when Kasiya grabbed her hand and squeezed. "O-of course." she replied. "Pour en être sûr, we shall be alright."
The pink haired girl followed her friend down the stairs to the cafeteria, scrunching her nose at the smell of burning carpet. "Oh no, don't tell me..." she said under her breath as she looked around the corner. To her relief, it was only a small fire, and Mike was no where to be found. Maybe it wasn't h'eem? Sasha thought. After all, this was Cinnabar Island: home to the world's most powerful Fire Pokemon Gym. It's not out of the ordinary to expect a few fires, right? The girl sighed, knowing her logic was most likely wrong.
The smell of breakfast food coming from the adjacent room caused Sasha's stomach to somersault. "Je suis tellement faim!" she whined, speed-walking over to the egg section. "Une omelette aux champignons au fromage et extra s'il vous plaît!" she said with a wide grin, salivating at the thought of her soon to be mushroomy delight. In a flash of white light, Omelette appeared on her shoulder, gently nibbling on Sasha's cheek for attention. "Not you, silly!" she giggled, rubbing her nose on the aquatic mouses's tummy. Delighted, the Azurill trilled in joy, blowing bubbles in the air as she did as Sasha went back to drooling over her food, which mocked her as it sizzled. "Pile z'hem on!" she cheered as the cook began to add all sorts of mushrooms to the concoction.
After thanking the cook multiple times, Sasha walked over and sat down next to Kasiya, her omelet somehow already halfway gone. "Je ne sais pas." the girl said before continuing to decimate her eggs in the most lady-like manner possible.

"New Bark Town? Really?" Sam pictured a Johto map in her head. "Oh...I know where that is. We have to go...East? No, maybe it's west. I dunno, I'm terrible at directions." Sam thought about it for a moment.
"You're right, dragging a Pokemon out of the water is not the right thing to do. I learned that one the hard way. Maybe I should get a Fishing Rod then." Sam shrugged. "Is there somewhere I can get one of those?"

It didn't take long for them to reach the Pokémon Center. Train handed Nurse Joy her PokéBalls and, as the Nurse turned to go take care of them, stopped her with an, "Uhm," And asked if there were any rooms available for the night. Just as her face brightened, the nurse also added that there was only one room left, and Train's heart sank. She thanked the nurse politely before turning to Maz and Carlos, letting out a sigh and looking down as she gripped the key tightly. "…we're all gonna have to share a room."+=+=+=+ Leon recalled Ghos, turned, and walked away from the woman whom he had just defeated. He exited the gym and went straight to the Pokémon Center, spending little time in there, as he just wanted to get them at full strength, and then returned to the gym. This time he made it to the back without any interruptions, and he stopped before the battlefield that had been painted out on the gym floor before calling out, "I am here to challenge Roxanne for her gym badge."

“Hey, thanks a lot! Super proud of her!” By the time Scarlet managed to respond to the complement, both (or all four, depending on how you count) of the present pokemon were cloaked in the jet black smoke.
Then a couple of Rivers left the smoke screen via flipping and skidding. Scarlet frowned a bit, calling out to Cindy. “Hey, any luck in there?”
The answer he got was a sort of odd, barking squeal. Little did Scarlet know, that was the sound Cindy made when she was being viciously assaulted by the tiny arms of a pokemon she’d never seen before.
“… That doesn’t sound good. Use Ember! Quick!”
Again, an order Cindy didn’t really need. She angrily turned in the general direction of the horrible, flailing little thing, and she spat a fireball at it. It carried with it decent damage (assuming it hit), thanks to Blaze, but Cindy was on her last legs.

River was hitting something solid, so she just kept flailing and kicking at Cindy as much as possible. Little did she know, it was getting very hot...
A few seconds later, River flew from the smoke with a sharp cry and tumbled onto the concrete. That Ember definitely left a mark, and it wasn't a pretty one. She glared to Jett as her clones disappeared.
"Confusion," Jett said with a firm nod. River would have no problem with that, staring right where she came from. The smoke was beginning to clear and a silhouette was slightly showing. No need to blatantly miss here...
The Kirlia honed her fury into the telekinetic blast and let it loose right for Cindy, sincerely hoping this would be the last of her. But just in case, she crouched forward in a defensive position, ready to dodge anything that Fire-type could throw at her.

Ace had to say he was happy when the newly evolved Bibarel fell to the ground. That battle had been a lot harder then he thought it would be! Breathing hard he gave Robin a happy grin before running over to her. He wasn't going to be under estimating Bidoof's anymore if they were all like that, though he had a feeling that this one was unique. Still, Ace was glad the battle was over and now he wanted to get healed up in a pokemon center.
"You did a great job out there Ace! Then again you always do a good job." Robin cheered him on as she picked up the Monferno, who didn't seem to be to happy about that. "I am gunna get Ace healed, do you want me to take your Bido-er-Bibarel with me?" Robin asked as she headed over to where Turtwig and Jake were standing. Oh the bench Black*Star headed over to them giving Ace a smug look that clearly read he could have done better, Ace ignored him. "By the way you and Bibarel did great out there! I can totally see why your such a great trainer."
~~~~~~
As the two left Hearthome city after their very brief stint in it, the blond girl still following Dante and Apollo around. They were headed up to Solaceon town which seemed like the quickest route over to Veilstone. Route 209 seemed pretty friendly what with all the young kids running around and a few joggers here in there. Everyone stopped and waved hi at them as they passed, though maybe they were waving hi at Dante's companion who seemed like the friendly one.
As they walked through Dante wondered what the huge holes in the ground were for. He didn't really want to question it to much, he didn't care all that much anyway. Sighing he glanced over at the girl who was following him. He didn't quite get it but she wasn't really annoying him so he just chose to ignore her, after all he never asked her to come along. They walked in relative silence before anything of interest actually happened.
"Hey you guys are trainers right?" A couple of young girls asked as they walked by. The two of them eyed Dante as they walked over and looked at his companion as if they recognized her in some way.
Dante just looked at them as if the answer to that particular was fairly obvious. His companion though was a lot more friendly and answered with a gentle smile. "Yes we are."
"Great! Can we have a pokemon battle then? If you two aren't to busy?" The two of them cast a glance at each other before looking back at the two of them together.
It took a moment for Dante to get what they were implying with their look and statement. When he did though he couldn't help but think on why him? Anyway before he could refuse his so called traveling companion agreed for them both. "Of course we can! It is the rules after all. How about a double battle two pokemon are allowed for each trainer." The two girls quickly agreed and soon Dante found himself in a double battle he had no desire to be a part of.
"What the hell was that?" Karri echoed into Mitsu's mind, interrupting the girl right as she was about to take the first bite into another juicy, green apple.
"What are you talking about?" Mitsu asked, unsure what the Gardevoir could possibly be talking about. "You mean Kasiya and Sasha?" The purple haired trainer pointed to the duo as they walked in and got their food, she remaining somehow invisible to them. It was fine though, she didn't really want to eat with Sasha anyhow and the two came in a pair.
"No, not them. I swear there was someone, in black or maybe they were all black, waving to me, to us, before they went outside," Karri replied, agitated at the thought.
"Well, we can go check it out," Mitsu replies, moving up from her seat and heading to the door.
Trainer and Pokemon left the cafeteria only to come out to a fairly empty area. No mysterious black figure or otherwise. There were only two occupants, Mike and Keegan. Well, three if you counted Helios. And for once they weren't beating each other up and were acting somewhat normal. Though Mike appeared to be gobbling down dirty muffins like a ravenous wolf who hadn't feasted for days and rubbing Helios's cheeks as he if was going to rub them right off.
"Hello Mike, hello Keegan!" Karri greeted, waving to the two boys while flashing Keegan a wink. She'd always thought the boy was cute with his rough and mean attitude.
"Um, you look hungry. Want an apple?" Mitsu asked, "And er, happy birthday?"
River’s fears were quickly quelled. Cindy tried her best to brace for the psychokinetic shockwave that just smashed into her, but the blows she traded with Athena had taken their toll. Cindy skidded back, wincing in pain. “… Quil…” Her first taste of her new power, and she’d lost. With a scowl, her legs finally gave out, and for the second time in 24 hours, she’d been rendered unconscious by an opponent.
“… You gave it your best shot, Cindy. I’m proud of you.” He jogged over and picked up his new Quilava, cradling her in his arms before running back to his side of the battlefield.
“… You wanna fight, Terumi? I’ve never been up against someone this strong,” he said, offering Jett a nod. “We probably won’t win, but it might be fun…”
Terumi hovered in place for a moment, his head tilting to the right, eyes narrowed and locked into River. He shut his eyes and sighed. “Gas.” Why the hell not. Losing to a ballerina is only slightly less annoying than getting beaten by a rat and captured by a functional idiot. His eyes opened back up to near slits, grin widening to a brand new level of malevolence.
“Good, Terumi! That’s the spirit! Give it your all, okay?” Scarlet said with a grin as his new ghost type hovered back onto the field.
"Nicely done, River!" Jett couldn't be happier. Well, he could be a lot happier, but he felt pretty good right about now. He returned the nod, offering Scarlet a quick grin. "You aren't bad. I have a feeling we could be good friends, Scarlet!" Jett resisted the urge to call the boy Red.
River was less than pleased with her new opponent. This one seemed to radiate just despair and terror, and she did not like it one bit. She took a gentle step back, bowed slightly, and looked straight into those eyes. I won't be afraid!
"You start," Jett said, remembering his etiquette. He was certainly wary of that Gastly, but he wouldn't let it get to him. River could totally handle this.
'There sure have been a lot of challengers recently,' Roxanne thought as she heard the voice of yet another trainer calling out to her in hopes of obtaining her coveted Stone Badge. She stepped forward to greet the youth, wearing a broad smile. "Greetings, challenger, and welcome to the Rustboro Gym!" she called. "I am Roxanne and I accept your challenge! We will each use two Pokemon, one at a time, with the standard rule of first to knock out the other trainer's Pokemon wins. Neither trainer is allowed to use items, nor switch Pokemon. Now if you understand the rules, let us begin, uh..." the gym leader trailed off, grinning sheepishly. "You didn't tell me your name!" * * * * * Riza and Crenu wandered around the area for a little while longer to pass the time, though Riza did most of the chatting. After a while she sat him down to change his bandages, annoyed that they couldn't go back to the Pokecenter to do so since Crenu had made himself unwelcome there, which was unfortunate because it made it more difficult to clean the wounds. Riza carefully redressed the dozens of tiny cuts in his hand, keeping her comments to herself as she was too busy trying not to cause him more pain then necessary. She was a little concerned that the bite wound on his shoulder looked even worse than when it was fresh, in fact she could swear it looked almost burnt. She finished dressing all his wounds and threw the old ones into the nearby trash before checking her watch. Her appointment was soon so she stood up and kissed Shiro on the forehead, as she was sure the last thing he felt like doing was tagging along to the salon with her. "Don't get into too much trouble while I'm gone," she told him. "I'll meet you at the Contest Hall later."
She headed towards the street where the salon was, though she hadn't gotten very far before Eris released herself from her poke ball. Riza glanced down at the Quilava, not at all surprised by the fire-type's actions and she knelt down and scooped her up. Eris responded by nuzzling her cheek and she clambered up onto Riza's shoulder, content to perch there while her trainer walked along. * * * * * Katie made her way east and out of Eterna City, her eyes fixed on the mass that was Mt. Coronet rising up in front of her, amazed at how the mountain range divided Sinnoh in half. She looked back at the city as she passed into the west side of route 211. The semi-ruined statues were of little interest to her and she paid them little mind as she walked past them. Beyond the outskirts of Eterna City was a wide, rocky field, not unlike the one she'd trained in before her match with Roark north of Oreburgh City. There was a narrow path winding its way through it, though she hadn't taken more than ten steps when a girl, maybe a year or two older than she was, called out to her. "Hey if you're a trainer, do you wanna battle?" She had short, brown hair and a blue outfit on, with one arm wrapped in thick bindings.
"Uh, sure, I guess so," Katie replied with a light shrug. "Two Pokemon each?"
The girl nodded. "The name's Alexandra, and how about we make this more interesting, a double battle?"
It was Katie's turn to nod. "Alright, sound's good. And I'm Katie." The two girls put some distance between them before they each selected their two Pokemon and let the spheres fly.
Kasiya sipped her milk and looked up as Sasha sat down beside her, already devouring a mushroom omelet. Kasiya smiled at the cute little Azurill perched on her shoulder and continued to enjoy her waffles, amazed at Sasha's ability to wolf down her breakfast and still look incredibly well-mannered and ladylike. She looked over to where Mitsu and Karri had been sitting, surprised to see that the purple-haired girl and her Gardevoir were gone. That's odd, she thought, pushing a piece of waffle through the syrup on her plate. She seems upset with us or something. Kasiya sighed and tucked a bit of her hair behind her ear.
"So much for meeting us downstairs," she mumbled, wondering where everyone else was. She hadn't even seen Keegan, Kilik, or Nina and Sabrina yet this morning, and she doubted they were still asleep by this point. She finished her breakfast quickly and returned her dishes to the counter, looking back to Sasha and her Azurill. "So what now?" she asked the pink-haired girl. "Should we go on a search to find the others?"
=-=-=-=-= "Thanks, Robin," Jake said, nodding as he recalled the knocked-out Bibarel to her Pokeball. "Though I'm sure her evolution made that tougher than it should have been." He looked at the red and white sphere in his hand, only partially hearing what Robin said next. At his side, Turtwig gazed up at him with a curious expression. The Tiny Leaf Pokemon hadn't been expecting to see his new teammate evolve already, and he felt a little sad seeing as how everyone was praising her. He was tough too, wasn't he? Turtwig pawed the ground and pretended to be interested in the dirt he was kicking up.
"Oh, uh, yeah, that'd be great," he said, handing the ball to the red-haired girl. "Thanks again. I'll wait out here with Turtwig, maybe we'll do some target practice with his Razor Leaf or something." After all, there were various objects with targets painted on them.
=-=-=-=-= "Now's your chance, Megu! Use Recover!" Flannery called, unable to suppress her wide grin. The Slugma slithered back a bit, leaving a scorched, molten trail in his wake. The air distorted around him from the heat shimmer he gave off as he focused his inner energies to heal himself, his yellow eyes going comically wide with relief as the pain from the previous attacks all but vanished. The Slugma cooed loudly and bobbed his head up and down, obviously quite pleased with himself. Flannery clapped and cheered, glad that the little guy was enjoying himself. It wasn't often he saw battle and survived more than two or three rounds at best.
On the other side of the field, Robbie wasn't showing it, but he was impressed by the little Slugma as well. His efforts to wake his snoozing Zangoose were all in vain though, as the Cat Ferret Pokemon was still quite soundly asleep, curled up on the gym floor like a Persian in front of a roaring fireplace. Flannery knew that the best time to strike would be now, as this was probably the last good attack Megu would be able to get in, as the Yawn/Protect combo probably wouldn't work again. "Okay Meg, let's spice things up! Blow 'em away with your Overheat!"
Megu's eyes opened a little wider and he nodded, his back already bubbling and hissing as smoke and flames erupted from his tiny body, sending a tremendous ball of magma and heat spiraling towards the sleeping, defenseless Zangoose.
The Ninetales wasn't sure how to react to Mike's sudden closeness, though it was safe to say the fox was probably more irritated at the fact that he'd been touched by the boy's grubby fingers. He flicked his tails in annoyance and moved closer to Keegan, his crimson eyes watching Mike's every movement. The redhead leaned back against the wall, digging his hands deep into his pockets. "Is that so?" he replied, withdrawing a cigarette and his silver zippo. "The fifth already. Well then, I suppose a Happy Birthday is in order. We'll have to celebrate after we bring down Magma," he said matter-of-factly as he lit his smoke.
He didn't get to say anything else as two new figures arrived on the scene, though he didn't return the Gardevoir's greeting with the same cheerfulness. "Hey," he mumbled, his gaze flickering over to Mitsu for a moment. Subconsciously he ran his free hand over the once-burned section of his arm, and he frowned lightly as he enjoyed several deep puffs of his cigarette. "Where are the others? They awake yet?" he asked the purple-haired girl, reaching back to scratch Helios behind the ears. ===== "You can get a fishing rod at any department store," Miharu replied quickly. "Or, you know, you could just borrow mine. I have a Good Rod. And yes, we'd have to go east from here. Up through the Union Cave, then north through Route 32 - which is the route where I captured Sparkle, by the way, and then to Violet City. From there it's a matter of following the route back through Cherrygrove, then to New Bark Town. It's not complex route, just a long one, but of course, we could always cut out part of the journey and just Fly there, if you wanted to." She blinked when she realized she was rambling, and grinned sheepishly. Traveling seemed like a very simple thing to her now that Aska was fully evolved and could use Fly, but she also knew that going by foot would more than likely bring them into contact with other trainers and battles along the way. She didn't mind how they got to their next destination, as she wasn't exactly in a rush to get back to Olivine to challenge Jasmine.
