Vergil wasn't sure how to set about packing, or preparing for it, so he figured he would just get the things that he thought should come with.
Clothes of course was the most obvious thing, so after donning a shirt and his jacket, he opened his dresser drawers and picked up all of his clothes (an armload at a time) and threw it over the edge of his platform and down onto the large bed that he would sleep in if he ever grew. Once he had tossed all of his clothes, he went for the miniature wooden weapons that Ulrich had made for him: a child's bow that could barely shoot across the room, a wooden version of Yamato, and a little wooden shield. He liked to play with them and pretend he was one of the fighters on the ranch: someday, he wanted to be a part of all of that.
What he didn't toss down onto the bed was his schooling supplies: his books and quills and ink all stayed on the platform that he used for his lessons. His logic was, they were going on a trip, and a trip meant a break from lessons. And if he didn't pack them, maybe Cindy would forget to remind him!

Once Cindy was done packing, and it felt strange packing away her things like this. She picked up her bag and headed over to Vergil's room. Looking it, it was obvious he had given some thought to what he was going to bring. He certainly remembered the obvious ones, and made sure he had something to play with while he was there.
"Have you chosen all your things?" she asked as she set her bag down on the bed.

"Uh huh," Vergil replied as he tied on his boots. "I got my clothes and my practice weapons ... I don't think I need anything else, right?"
He blinked. "Oh, wait a second!" He ran to the corner of the platform he was on and ran up a miniature set of stairs that led up to the next platform, where his sleeping area was.
"Bonzai!" he grinned, tossing down his pillow and blanket.

Cindy looked thoughtful, it was a five day journey there, so yes she was sure Vergil would need those as well. She surveyed the room for a moment.
"Add a rope so you can get down from whatever bed you'll end up in," she added, "And bring an ink well, quill and a notebook."
No point in him getting rusty while they were on the trip, to be sure. No lessons perse, but he still needed to write.

Vergil blinked. "But ... but I won't be able to write on the bird's back," he protested, trying to sound logical. "The paper will fly away. And once we're there we'll be busy, right?"
But he searched obediently for the rope he knew he had stowed away somewhere nearby.

"When we are there, I'd like you to write in that, every night," Cindy told him, "It can be about anything you wish. Your day, your thoughts, or something completely different. This way you are not out of practice and it'll improve your writing skills."
And give him something to write about, she was highly aware after all these years here sometimes there was nothing interesting to write about at all.

Vergil's eyebrows rose in an are-you-kidding-me kind of look, but he wisely kept his mouth shut and trudged down a level to where his books were.
"Anything else I have to bring?" he asked, his tone slightly sour.

Cindy smiled, most wouldn't have liked Vergil's tone, but she was pretty use to his attitude at the moment.
"Do you have all things you need to groom yourself?" she asked him.

Vergil looked at Cindy over his shoulder. "You mean like a brush and stuff?" he asked her. "Or do I have to bring stuff to wash and everything?"
Not that he even used the brush he did have - he usually just used his fingers. Cindy hadn't mentioned anything about it so far, and he guessed she probably didn't even know.

"Just brush and stuff," Cindy repeated, "Everything else will be provided, or it just wouldn't be practical on a five day trip."
So they should be fine, Vergil at his size could still wash in a basin.

Vergil stood up straight and held his hands out in front of him, fingers splayed as if he were going to trace them.
"Set," he nodded. He turned around and slipped his hands into the pockets of his jacket. "That everything?"

Cindy thought about it, Vergil had his clothes, had things he needed so he could go about his daily morning routine, he had things so he could practice his writing and toys in case he became bored.
Though Cindy doubted he would need that, she did plan to show him a real city for once.
"I think that is about it," she murmured as she refolded the clothes and packed them away into her bag.

Vergil nodded and skittered over to the corner above the large bed, and with a whoop and a holler, he jumped down, landing on the large, fluffy pillow. He grinned up at Cindy.
"I always love doing that!" he giggled. "So does that mean once everything is in the bag it's time to go to the ranch?"

Cindy smiled, at least he was now more like a child than when he came (whether or not this was a good thing was sometimes questionable).
"Yes, after everything is packed away, we'll head to the ranch and talk to Elrohir and Haradhel."
There wasn't much to pack, since all of Vergil's things were so small to begin with.

"Goody," Vergil grinned, bouncing off the bed and standing at Cindy's side while she finished packing his things. "Does that mean I can go wake up Aurin?"
He grinned up at her mischievously, his gray eyes sparkling brightly.
