Jasper let out a loud curse word when he saw Ditto fall to the ground, too weak to maintain its Transform any longer. The boy strode forward and scooped the Pokemon up in his arms. Ditto wasn't unconscious yet, but Jasper knew the little blob was in need of treatment. He'd never had to take Ditto into the Pokemon Center before, but he figured there was a first time for everything. He finally decided that Ditto would be better off resting, so for now he put the blue creature into his bag. He figured a Pokeball would probably be a better choice, but for some reason it still felt wrong. Jasper mounted his bike and had started to head back to Goldenrod when he remembered something important, and he quickly backtracked so that he could grab the Pokeball that contained his newly-caught Paras. He turned the sphere over in his hands a few times before putting it in his pocket, and once again he hopped on his bicycle, pedaling nonstop until he was back within the city limits.

It was a strange feeling for Jasper, as he was actually heading to the Pokemon Center with a purpose. That, and he now had two Pokemon with him. Granted, the Paras didn't seem like the bravest of creatures, but those spore attacks it had used seemed like they could come in handy if used at the right time. 'I guess I really am a Pokemon Trainer now,' Jasper thought somewhat ruefully as he parked his bike outside of the red-roofed building. The nurse glance up from her computer at the boy with wide, expectant blue eyes. Her cheerful expression made Jasper feel nervous. "Uh, my Pokemon need... treatment," he managed in a low, nearly inaudible tone. "I think one of them is paralyzed, and the other one poisoned."

"Certainly," she replied in her sugary-sweet voice. "Just give them to me and I'll make sure they're taken care of." She held out her hand palm-up, and Jasper nodded stupidly as he placed the Pokeball containing the timid Paras in her hand. He then opened his bag and carefully took Ditto out, setting the still-poisoned Pokemon on the counter. The nurse seemed a bit surprised that Ditto wasn't inside a Pokeball, but she said nothing and gently took the Transform Pokemon in her arms. "Don't worry about a thing, I'll take good care of them," she informed Jasper before turning and taking Ditto and Paras into the adjoining room.

"Yeah, don't worry, sure thing," he muttered, leaning against the counter to wait. It was easy for her to say, as he hadn't been separated from Ditto in all the years they'd known each other. Yet, Jasper did feel a little relieved by the fact that the nurse didn't seem to be judging him, though he had no idea why he cared about being judged at a time like this. He drummed his fingers on the counter top impatiently while he awaited the return of his Pokemon.

The irritation was clear on the Cyndaquil's face, and the satisfaction that Athena felt was too much for words. If she could, she would smirk. But then Cindy spat another fireball at her, and Athena was in the middle of her hop when it hit directly.

"I DUNNO," Jett called back, his voice gradually drifting to a normal tone. "I JUST... got her..." His eyes drifted to the source of the silence, and they immediately widened in slight surprise. There was some smoke from the Ember attack that left Athena as a silhouette, trembling on the ground.

Slowly, the silhouette clambered up and a large pair of crimson eyes snapped open. They focused solely on the mouse as the smoke cleared. "Hoot," Athena growled, smoke drifting idly from her beak. She was as terrifying as any Hoothoot could possibly be. She gave Jett a sharp glare.

"Right," Jett said, grinning some. "Go for a Peck!" He was certainly glad he had another fearless Pokemon, but one who seemed to think things out rather than attack right away. Like a mix between River and Aerosmith...

Athena crouched down impossibly low and then kicked off, rocketing those few feet that kept her and that fire rat apart. She remained low to the ground, her beak seemingly growing sharper as she continued. That was really just her imagination. But it was still pretty intimidating, seeing that Athena was trying her best to be a beak-missile-owl-thing. If this attack hit, Cindy would certainly feel that, unlike her irritating Uproar.

"Good luck, Sasha, you're gonna need it," Kasiya giggled, winking at Mike to show she was only playing around. She figured they needed all the smiles and positive energy they could get their hands on for later. Kasiya glanced at the clock, amazed to see how fast the morning seemed to be passing them by. She mentally cursed time for never slowing, or never speeding up when you really wanted it to. She also didn't really want to eavesdrop on what Mike and Sasha were saying, but she also didn't want to leave the room so she settled for wandering over to the bed and sitting down. She twisted her hands in her lap for a few seconds, her mind wandering everywhere as she waited for Mike's makeover to be finished.

Within a few seconds her thoughts drifted to her Pokemon, and she realized that with every moment that passed, she was losing hope of ever seeing Shocker again, let alone getting her back. On top of that, Ariel was refusing to rejoin her party due to the fact that her best friend was still missing, leaving Kasiya down by her two strongest and most reliable Pokemon. She still had Hiro, Seto, Ada and the others, and she had lucked out when she'd snagged Sirrus the Flygon from Mai, but would they be enough? Would she even need Pokemon for this mission, or would it be more like the Slateport incident, with chaotic fighting and brawling? She shivered and hugged her knees to her chest, suddenly hoping this day would pass by fast.

Like Robin, Jake was impressed by the performances of both Pokemon on the field, and as much as he hoped that Bidoof would somehow eke out a win, he figured it probably wasn't going to happen. Ace had better moves at his disposal, though he knew that would change as Bidoof grew stronger. He was also impressed with how much speed Bidoof had picked up as her Rollout attack continued, though it was easy to tell that with the more speed she gained, the harder it was for her to stay in control. Jake looked back to the Monferno, frowning a bit when he saw the monkey scamper forward, seemingly ready to meet the rolling Bidoof head on with his Mach Punch.

"Bidoof, watch it!" Jake hollered, but it was too late for the Plump Mouse Pokemon to alter her course. She braced herself for impact, letting out a cry of pain when the Pokemon's fist made contact with her body. She wasn't sure if her Rollout had pushed through and caused Ace any pain, as she was too busy reeling from the hit she'd just taken. Bidoof went tumbling back head over tail until she came to land on her stomach, eyes squeezed shut. Jake sighed and held up her Pokeball, ready to recall her, but before the red laser could make contact with her furry brown body she sprang up, landing on all fours in front of Jake.

"Bidoof?" Jake asked, taking a step forward as Bidoof rose up into a sitting position. She gnashed her teeth together, ears twitching as she loosed a growl that actually sounded somewhat vicious. Then, her body erupted in white light, and suddenly the little Bidoof wasn't so little anymore. Her whole body enlarged and grew more muscular, and her puffy little tail extended and grew larger as well. When the light faded, a large, brown Pokemon sat in Bidoof's place, sunlight glinting off her sharp teeth. She sighed deeply, slapping her powerful tail solidly against the ground before she jumped forward, her cheeks billowing out only seconds before she unleashed a fairly powerful stream of water at the Fire and Fighting-type. "Bidoof?" Jake asked again, still at a loss for what had just happened.

Robbie's Zangoose led off with a fighting dance, its claws flashing with a dangerous crimson aura as it strengthened its attack power. Flannery, knowing her Slugma couldn't withstand too many physical attacks, decided that her best strategy would be to hit hard and fast (or as fast as little Megu could manage, anyway) to try and bring down the catlike foe. "Flamethrower!" she shouted, thrusting her hand forward. In the past, she most likely would have led off with the gym's trademark Overheat, but after several harsh losses she finally realized that it was an awful tactic, as the user would have to suffer a severe drop in special attack as payment for using the powerful move.

Megu's molten body bubbled and frothed as he summoned the energy required for his attack, and he opened his mouth and loosed a bright, scorching jet of flames at the Cat Ferret Pokemon. Flannery wasn't expecting the Zangoose to just sit there and get roasted, and this would prove to be the case as it quickly darted to the left. Megu angled his attack to follow the Zangoose's movements, but the Pokemon was too fast for the little Slugma, and the flames died out before they could land a hit. Robbie then called for a Crush Claw attack, and the Zangoose was suddenly rushing forward, its sharp, deadly claws ready to strike. "Megu, wait for the right moment and use Yawn!" Flannery shouted, trying to keep the fear out of her voice.

Megu braced himself; he knew this was going to hurt, but he focused on the incoming blur of white, opening his mouth wide as Zangoose tore into him with its terrible claws. A round, translucent bubble floated out of the Slugma's gaping mouth and burst right in the Zangoose's face, causing the Cat Ferret to yawn loudly in return. Flannery smiled, knowing that this would be her chance to turn this match around in her favor.

Ouch that had hurt! Ace shook his fist off ignoring the scratches and the blood welling up under the fur! Hitting something coming at him like that was not fun at all! As he was shaking off the pain in his hand he looked up just in time to see that the Bidoof he was fighting before had evolved. Oh that just wasn't fair. Was the last thing Ace got to think before he got his face drenched in a blast of water.

"Wo-ow! So cool!" Robin cheered as she watched them exchange attacks. It was pretty cool to. It was even cooler though when Bidoof decided to evolve, at least Robin was pretty sure she had just evolved. Scanning in the now much bigger Bidoof she found out that she was right! "Oh wow she evolved, I was right!" Robin grinned as she looked up in time to seen an annoyed Ace get a full on blast of a Water Gun. "Oh Ace look out!" Robin cried out much to late.

Off to the side Black*Star was laughing at Ace who was sputtering a bit and doing his best to dry off. Though the drying off didn't seem to be necessary after a sudden wave of heat emanated from the Playful pokemon. It seemed like Tony wasn't lying before, the dumb looking monkey couldn't take a hit to save his life if he was all ready going into Blaze. Black*Star watched as the Monferno took a deep breath and let out a much stronger then normal looking Ember attack.

“Cindy, brace yourself!” Scarlet winced at the speed that the Hoothoot barreled toward Cindy. He knew it was going to be a pretty hard hit.

But Cindy didn’t seem to mind as much. In fact, she was busy grinning. She’d never had a fight this good, and she just found it adorable that the Hoothoot hadn’t fallen down scorched yet. … Except the smoke all around it and all. She’d be able to take the hit, no problem.

Athena crashed beak first into Cindy, sending her skidding back. It only hurt about as much as a tackle, with nowhere near the bite that the Uproar had. But it still hurt, and Scarlet knew she couldn’t take many more than that.

However, judging by the look on Cindy’s face, she either didn’t know that or didn’t care. The flame on her back grew much, much brighter, and again, she spat an ember at Athena, aiming for it to smash her in the face for that latest stunt. The only difference was the fact that, if it hit, it’d hurt a lot more than the last two.

"What just happened..." Was Cindy getting stronger? Was she about to evolve? Jett grew more anxious with each second, and he commanded for Athena to dodge out of the way. That Ember could very well be her last!

Athena, however, had used up a lot of energy shrieking and making herself a missile. Those other Embers had also weakened her, and she was ready to take a break now. She truly disliked this fire mouse as much as the psychic ballerina, and gave Cindy a sharp look before she took the Ember. "H-hoot...!" You may have won this round, but we will meet again...! She was going to wish Cindy a sarcastic wish of luck against whoever was next, but things faded into a comfortable black.

"...Oh," Jett said, blinking. Athena looked so much more relaxed when she was knocked out. Maybe her ability stressed her out...? "You did great, Athena!" The trainer recalled the Owl Pokemon and offered Scarlet a friendly grin. "Nice work. Time for my ace... River, let's give them hell!" He tossed the sphere into the air, releasing River onto the slightly singed battlefield.

River was absolutely ready to show what she could really do now. That owl had her moment, and she only wished Aerosmith was out so she could show how much stronger she was. No more superiority from him, that's for sure! So, as Jett called out a command, River darted gracefully into the air and multiplied into three Kirlias. Each of them fell back to circle Cindy, dancing happily around the little mouse.

Cindy looked down at her fallen foe, huffing from the sheer amount of work it took to take her down. She felt weird enough now that Blaze was active, and now she was all warm and tingly inside.

“Your Hoothoot was pretty fierce, dude,” Scarlet said with a grin. After all, one really hadn’t ever given them that much trouble, let alone hurt Cindy enough to activate her special ability. Then he looked over at Cindy, his eyes widening a bit. “… Hey, why’re you all… Glowy and-”

Cindy looked at her paw, blinking. It was true. She almost blinded herself before the glow stopped and she noticed she was sitting on four legs and the top of her head was on fire. “…. Quil.” What.

Scarlet blinked a couple of times. “… Your eyes are open. I’m scared.” Well, his precious Cyndaquil was now a Quilava. “… I feel bad. Your name doesn’t even make sense anymore.”

He didn’t get a real response, however, because Cindy was busy staring at some… Bipedal green… thing…

“O…kay… Never seen that before… But double team’s gonna be super problematic. We’ll counter it with smokescreen and celebrate later!”

“Quil!” An acrid black smoke began to billow from the twin flames now burning brightly on her head and tail, and soon, it coated her and the area of about nine square feet.

Katie sat outside for a little while longer before she stood up and went back inside the pokecenter. She still hadn't figured out how she would go about getting to Veilstone City, but she figured she might as well do some research on the next gym and start training for that match, regardless of how far away it might be. There were several computers along the one side of the wall of the center and Katie sat down in front of the one nearest to her. Since she had no need to access the Pokemon storage system she didn't log in, an instead simply opened up a browser and began her search.

Some time later, Katie had finished writing down some important information in her notebook, particularly that the Veilstone City gym leader's name was Maylene and that she specialized in fighting-type Pokemon though it didn't say which ones she preferred to use. 'Noa will definitely be participating in that battle,' she thought as she stood up and stretched. 'But Nell, not so much, at least for now.' She checked the time on the wall, a bit amazed to find that a lot more time had passed than she had thought. Her stomach rumbled a bit and she realized she had missed lunch, so she headed for the cafeteria to get some food for her and her Pokemon.

Once they had all been fed, Katie headed back outside, having decided to try and make her way through Mt. Coronet. It would take her to Celestic Town, which would still bring her, eventually, to the route that led to Veilstone, but that was only if she was able to navigate her way through the mountain.

"Thanks!" Jett chirped back, quite proud of his newest addition. Watch out, Falkner... 'cause I'm coming and oh dear lord, what is that? He should've recognized the evolution, but for it to happen to someone else's Pokemon was kind of intimidating. Then Jett realized he could no longer refer to Cindy as a mouse and grew swiftly disappointed. But he got over it within seconds and called back to the other trainer, "Nice evolution!"

River agreed with Jett, offering the new Cindy a brief smile before she and her clones prepared for the Smokescreen. She tried to take account of what exactly was happening. For one, she could not see. But she wasn't getting hurt, like with that Sandstorm, and she didn't have to worry about hitting one of her friends.

"Uh, River!" Jett called awkwardly into the massive cloud of darkness. "Just try to get out of there!" He hoped that Cindy could see just as well as River could in that smoke, and once she was out, he would feel a bit safer. He did not like giving blind commands.

River felt the same way, and hesitated when Jett called. Hearing isn't affected by your sight, she thought irritably and immediately began to hurry backwards. Her clones did the same, scurrying about the smoke in desperate attempts to escape its clutches. One River slid out hurriedly, glancing at Jett before looking back into that Smokescreen that seemed to get more doom-filled by the moment.

Another River elegantly flipped out, utterly glad that she did not smack into a telephone pole or something to that extent. She skidded upon the dirt and looked to Jett along with her companion. Both shook their heads.

"...You aren't..." Jett wanted to face-palm so much right then and there. Didn't they have some sort of tracking device? Where was the real River--

Wham!

There was the real River, who had unintelligently ran directly into Cindy. Completely panicked and blind, she began to flail her limbs wherever possible, hoping to hit this enemy until she could see again. Once that happened, River would hit her some more.

"Well, z'hat is about all I can do." Sasha said, throwing the now warped brush in the trash. "Wees'out water I s'hink I did rather well."

Mike looked at himself in the mirror and tried to smile. She had done a good job of making his hair look much less mangled, and had cleaned the dirt and grime from his face, but the lack of sleep and facial ticks were more present than ever. "Thanks Sasha." he said with a forced smile. "Every little bit helps." He got up and pushed in the chair. "I'll meet you downstairs for breakfast." It was only until he finished what he said before he realized just how hungry he was. He felt like he hadn't eaten for years.

Sasha looked at him and smiled herself. It was a sad, pitied smile. She felt so bad for him. "You s'hink he is going to be alright?" Sasha asked Kasiya, watching Mike as he walked down the stairs.

"What misery." Milo said with his frozen grin as he materialized behind Mike as he walked.

"It's just to look nice for her." he said weakly. "I, I have to at least try.

"What? She's seen us at your best! Remember us at the party? We were spectacular! Imagine all the stills they showed of us on the news! I bet our smiling face is world famous by now!"

Mike froze. "Oh my god, what if you're right?"

"I always am." Milo replied, crossing over to the boy's other side.

Now more paranoid than ever, Mike crept down the stairs, wincing at every creak his steps produced. "Shut up!" he pleaded. Milo laughed at the boy's amusing antics. He boy peeked around the corner, quickly drawing his head back when the receptionist turned to face forward. "On the wall is the coat rack. There's a black cloak on there that I can use for now. Food will have to wait." Taking a step back, Mike lowered himself to the ground. He perched himself on the stairs like an Ariados, Milo remaining upright on the step beneath him. Moving one limb at a time, he slowly made his way to the bottom of the stairs, held out his hand, and shot a small fireball across the floor. It rolled along the carpet and hit the wall with a tiny poof.

"Oh no, not again!" the receptionist cried out, reaching for the extinguisher behind the counter and racing into action. In the ensuing chaos Mike leaned around the wall and grabbed the simple black cloak and put it on, walking quickly to avoid being seen.

"Wonderful steal skills Mr. Hayabusa" Milo said mockingly. "It's like your years of training were for absolutely nothing."

"Shut up." Mike replied bluntly as he tied the top of the cloak and pulled the hood over his head. Mike made his way down the hallway and through the food court, making sure to avoid eye contact with Mitsu. "Oh s**t!" he whispered to Milo when he noticed who Mitsu was dining with. "Karri!" Mike's pace increased, lest the Psychic Pokemon intrude. The boy quickly passed through the kitchen and went outside, Milo waving at the girl and her Gardevoir as he followed.

Mike was about to breathe a sigh of relief when he turned forward to see Keegan standing outside with a bunch of food. Skidding loudly, Mike turned and adjusted his cloak, trying to pretend like he hadn't been the one who made the noise and make his way off unnoticed.

Keegan hadn't really gone anywhere after his daring cafeteria robbery, and had simply parked himself a very short distance from the doors he'd just escaped from. He figured that if anyone really cared about what he'd done they would have followed him, but no one did. After all, it wasn't like there was a sign posted anywhere that said 'don't take them all!' The coffee had proven to be as weak as it looked and he'd tossed it, and was between his third blueberry muffin and fourth honey crueller when he realized that eating all these sugary, baked goods would be a stupid, stupid thing to do, so to save himself a stomachache he'd fed some of them to his Pokemon. They were gathered around him, all munching quietly save for Loki, who'd wolfed down everything Keegan had given him and was still eying the basket hungrily. The redhead raised an eyebrow and shook his head. "No, you're not getting anymore," he told the Pokemon, ignoring the overly-fake pout the Cobra wore. Keegan decided to recall him, not wanting to deal with the Arbok and his antics just now.

He recalled all his other Pokemon as they finished their nutritionally unbalanced breakfast, save for Helios, and grabbed another donut from the basket. He broke it in half and tossed part of it to the Ninetales, and the two ate in silence until a hooded figure raced past them, and then promptly skidded to a stop. The redhead only saw the figure's face for a split second, but Keegan easily recognized his childhood friend. He exchanged a puzzled glance with Helios as Mike adjusted his cloak and started to walk away like nothing had happened. Keegan smirked as he plucked a carrot and bran muffin from the basket (it was funny to him because he remembered just how much Mike hated them) and swiftly lobbed it at the back of his friend's head. "Wasn't me," he announced loudly, stuffing the remainder of his donut in his mouth while Helios shot him an irritated glare.
=====
Miharu nodded, still smiling. "Yes, of course, that sounds just fine," she replied. She wasn't exactly in a hurry to head back to Olivine, as she was sure she still needed plenty of training before she would stand a chance against the gym leader there. "An Electric-type?" she repeated. "Any particular ones you have in mind? I can show you the area where I met Sparkle, if you're interested." She remembered well her hunt for the elusive Mareep, though she had forgotten to restock her PokeBall supply and had to backtrack all the way to Violet City. It had been the first time she'd actually sought out a specific Pokemon, as the others had all either been spontaneous captures, or given to her. She idly wondered if she'd ever add any other Pokemon to her roster in the future, though she doubted it would happen any time soon. She was happy with her current Pokemon, though she wouldn't mind adding a few additional types in the future.

“Yo, Juliet!” Moti announced as the crew entered the quant little café. “So here are those two rapscallions that I mentioned needed a place to crash as well.” Moti leaned on the counter nonchalantly, while Juliet was busy making a dish for a customer and several Luciocolo were speedthing this way and that way.

“Uh, huh.” She replied, not looking up from her frying pan. “Well, you don’t have to be so obnoxious. I’ve got other customers that like peace and quiet, y’know.” She responded, finally looking up as whatever she was making was apparently done and a Ludicolo rushed up to take the item to the person that ordered it. “Here are the room keys.” Juliet added as she reached behind the counter and procured two keys, as Moti already had one. “Rooms are down the hall and up the stairs.”

“Thanks.” Rajasi replied, accepting the key and begging to walk to the rooms.

”Thanks very much for the place to stay.” Claire added, accepting her key as well. She nodded to Moti and followed closely behind Rajasi. The stairs lead to a somewhat sizeable area above the store. There were six rooms, one was unlabeled and was therefore probably reserved for Juliet and her Pokemon, the others were all variously numbered.

Claire glanced down to her key, XIII apparently. Glancing at the doors she saw that they were all in different symbols with the only normal one being labeled as ‘7’. Rajasi had already made it to his room, which had a stylized cross, presumably the Japanese character for 10. Claire walked down to her room and opened the door. It was a nice place with a bed, dresser, desk, and even computer. Claire walked over to the window to view the street outside, bustling with people. She smiled, again thinking that things were finally looking up for a change. She absentmindedly reached for her necklace, but soon realized she wasn’t wearing one.

The instant the offending confections struck Mike's head he knew that Keegan had recognized him. "No fooling you it seems, Mr. Summers." Mike said quietly, looking around to see if anyone else had noticed him. Nope. "The coast seems to be clear."

"Save for Red." Milo sneered.

"Re-Keegan doesn't count against the coast!" Mike snarled. "He's anti-coast! He clears the coast!"

"Fine, fine." Milo said, holding his hands up. "Don't say I didn't try to warn you." With that, the phantom vanished, the seed of doubt planted.

Mike turned, shooting Keegan a fearful glance for just a moment before turning around fully. "I don't suppose you saved any for me?" he asked, grabbing his stomach. "I haven't eaten in days."

"I don't really have anything in mind, though I wouldn't mind an adorable Mareep. Problem is, there aren't too many Electric-Type Pokemon around, huh?" Sam thought of some in her head. 'Pichu, Mareep, Magnemite...Er...Jolteon?' Sam wasn't too keen on any of these, except for perhaps Magnemite. Sam knew that there was one Pokemon she was forgetting, but she didn't worry about it. If she couldn't remember, it probably wasn't important. "Sure, if you wouldn't mind, could you show me where you found Sparkle? Was it close by here?" Sam was a little unsure of herself still, and for some reason she felt niggling doubts about catching a Mareep. Why though? Sam shook the thought away. "You wanna get going?" she asked, waving her hands to encompass her surroundings. She wasn't sure exactly which direction they were going to go.

Seeing that her two friends were finished, Kasiya picked herself up off the bed and stood beside Sasha, both watching the poor boy head down towards the lobby. She didn't look at the pink-haired girl as she spoke, and simply shook her head. "No, he's not," she answered honestly, the sadness clear in her own vice. "He will get better, but he'll never be like he was." She twirled a bit of her hair in her fingertips and adjusted the bag she wore on her hip. "I suppose we should get down there," she said with a light sigh. "Mike's probably gonna want us all in the same place so we can go over the game plan, or something like that," she said, which was ironic seeing as, while they didn't know it, Mike was currently playing hide an seek with everyone who knew him downstairs. She looked up at the taller girl and smiled before taking her hand and giving it a squeeze. "Don't worry, we'll pull through this. We always do."

Kasiya wasn't sure if Sasha was reassured by her words or not, but she herself felt a little better. After all, they had managed to overcome everything that had been thrown at them so far, so she held tight to the thought that so long as they worked together as a team, nothing could stop them. It was about the only thing keeping her from turning around and running as far away as she possibly could. She carefully made her way down the stairs, looking around curiously as the smell of smoke assailed her nose. The receptionist didn't seem to notice the two girls as she was busily opening windows and trying to air out the smoke from the room, but the sulfuric aroma of Cinnabar Island seemed to make her efforts useless.

Kasiya wasn't sure what had caught fire but she placed her key card on the desk nevertheless and made her way to the cafeteria, suddenly finding herself to be ravenous and craving waffles. She didn't hesitate to grab a plate and carefully stacked it with a generous pile of golden waffles. She added some butter and a good amount of maple syrup before taking a small carton of white milk. She spotted Mitsu and Karri nearby, but there was no sign of Mike, Keegan, or Kilik. "I wonder where the boys are?" she wondered absentmindedly as she took a seat near Mitsu, not wanting to interrupt as she and Karri seemed to be discussing something.

Taking a cue from Robin, Jake once again took out his PokeDex and scanned the much larger Pokemon in front of him. He'd been surprised to see her spit out all that water at Ace, but it made sense when he saw that Bidoof had evolved into Bibarel, and that she was now a dual Normal and Water-type. A Water-type, Jake thought, grinning from ear to ear. He'd thought Bidoof would have had to sit on the sidelines during his match with Roark as her attacks would have been useless against the Rock-types, but now she'd be quite an asset in that upcoming battle. He had to admit that he felt a little cheap going in with two Pokemon that would be strong against Rock-types, but he figured that this Roark fellow was probably used to that sort of thing by now.

He looked towards the Monferno as he launched a rather strong-looking Ember at Bibarel, quickly putting the device back in his pocket. "Quick, Bidoof, uh, I mean, Bibarel! Counter the flames with a Water Gun," he called. He wasn't sure why, but he recognized the fiery aura now surrounding the Monferno as Blaze. He knew he'd seen it before, but couldn't quite place it. Bibarel, while feeling quite good about herself now that she was bigger and stronger, also felt that familiar wave of fatigue rush over her, and even though she now knew that Fire-type moves weren't very damaging against her, she knew she was too weak to withstand it. Her cheeks billowed out as she gathered a mouthful of water and she sprayed it out in a wide arc over the oncoming fire, dousing it significantly but not enough to stop it completely though some water may have gotten through to the Monferno. She cried out as she was scorched by the remaining flames, and all she could manage was a weak grin in Ace's direction before she fell to the ground.

The Zangoose's movements were somewhat staggered now that it was feeling drowsy, but Flannery figured it wouldn't really affect the Pokemon's ability to hit hard. Regardless, Flannery had a plan; it was just a matter of being able to execute it. She looked up as she heard Robbie call out for a Slash attack, and she grit her teeth. If that one hit, Megu was done for, but recently she'd taught the little Slugma a new move, mostly due to the fact that his best friend, Magu, had evolved some time ago and he was feeling a little inferior in comparison to the Magcargo. "Megu, quick! Use that new move we've been working on!" Flannery called.

Megu nodded and turned towards the Zangoose, his eyes flashing green for a split second. The Cat Ferret's claws drew ever nearer, though they wouldn't touch the Slugma this time as a glittering, green barrier had suddenly appeared between the two Pokemon, shielding Megu from the Zangoose's vicious attack. The Cat Ferret Pokemon snarled as it tried to slash through Megu's Protect, but the barrier held firm and before the catlike Pokemon could attempt to strike again, the drowsiness overcame him and he slumped to the ground, snoring quietly.
