((Carvanha don't appear in Kanto, so you're going to have to stick to FireRed/LeafGreen Pokemon that appear there. According to my guide, possible catches include Horsea, Krabby, Magikarp, Gyarados, Psyduck, Slowpoke, Staryu and Shellder. Use your judgement though.))

After what seemed like hours, the bobber twitched a little. Surprised, Mike readied himself.

Suddently, a Pokemon erupted from the water!

Alarmed but composed, Mike yanked the Pokemon onto land, he had never had a Pokemon fight before, but he trusted Charmander to do his best.

Shellder looked surprised, and withdrew into his shell.

"Charmander, scratch it!"

"CHAR!" cried the Pokemon as it raked the Shellder with it''s claws, leaving a little gash, but seemingly unaffective.

Charmander looked at Mike, as if to say "Let my handle this" and walked behind Shellder. Not hearing any noise, Shellder slowly opened his shell and looked around, not seeing the little red Pokemon. At that moment, Charmander jumped right over Shellder and flipped his tail around, releasing many hot embers into Shellder's eyes. "SHELL!" screamed the Pokemon in pain.

"Ok, now's my chance!" Mike picked up a Pokeball from his vest pocket and threw it, completly missing his target. Red in the face with embarrasment and frustration, Mike threw a second ball, this one hitting the Shellder square on. The Pokemon turned to a tranlucent red color and was sucked into the ball. It fell on the ground and started to wobble...

Kasiya gasped at Charmander's suprise attack, and watched in anticipation. As the Shellder was sucked inside the Pokeball, Kasiya could only hope that Charmander had weakened it enough. She crossed her fingers in anticipation, which was tough to do seeing as she held to eager Pokemon in each arm.

After walking in route 123 with abra by his side with out much luck edgardo seems to get tire since he hasnt got any information about how to awake groundon.

"well abra it looks like we are not having much luck today"

But from the suddenly they see an old man being atacked by a wild zigzagon.

"come on abra lets go help him"

abra noods and they run to the old man.

As Charmander dashed at the wild Pokemon, Shellder seemed to know what was about to happen, for he lurched himself at the fire Pokemon, sending it flying a bit back.

"Charmander! Don't take that from him! Scratch him!"

Charmander scratched the Shellder, again, little effect. Shellder responded with another full body tackle, hurling the poor Pokemon closer and closer to the water.

Charmander looked over and gasped, not wanting to go for a dip, he picked himself up and swung his arm at full strength, connecting with critical precision on the Shellder.

It cried in pain, and Mike let another ball fly...
