Rosemary wished she could help the others, but her aching wings reminded her of her small age and limited ability to fly. Sighing, Rose once again turned her attention to the egg.

"I guess I should name you." Rosemary said out loud, not particularly caring if anyone heard her or not. She was starting to feel lonely -and hungry- without Rowan around. She hates to admit it, but she had grown very attached to her rider in the small amount of time she had been alive.

Thinking about all the words that she had learned from her rider, Rose looked at the small dragonfly on the egg, fluttering it's translucent wings slightly. Rowan named Rose after a Herb right? Hmm...

"Hey Dragonfly, your name's Saffron from now on alright?" It's wings started vibrating faster as if replying a yes...or a no. Or it was just fluttering it's wings. Who cared?

"Et une Butterkyn...I'll name her Skittles..." She didn't know where the name came from, but she liked the sound of it. Although she wondered if the name would fit if the Butterkyn ended up to be a male. Ah well, not her problem. She can talk to Rowan about it afterwards. Laying her head against the bare ground, Rosemary tried to keep her mind off food. Man was she hungry.

((Nicky still needs to post something. XP Is it just Tare, Kori, and Paige remaining to get eggs?))

Tare's choice to move further into the dunes and the grass certainly got rid of most of the distracting shells and stones that washed up on the beach. But the grass wasn't exactly simple to search through either as it could easily bury the small rock-like eggs. And there were a few insects flickering around. Perhaps if the Japanese Kyn looked further into these, he'd be rewarded.

Rosemary continued to lay on the ground, waiting for the others to find the eggs. Soon, she couldn't bear it any longer.

"Did anyone bring milk?" She tried not to sound like she was whining. She was hungry, and most Riders should know how much a Hatchling eats. She looked at Aedan and Poke expectantly, hoping that someone brought food. She was sure no one's gonna be hunting on these islands, so if no one brought anything edible, Rose was just going to deal with it. The problem is, she's been hungry ever since they started this trip. All the excitement's been distracting her, but now that she's sitting in one spot it was impossible to ignore.

She curled her tail protectively around the Butterkyn egg and the Dragonfly shifted with annoyance.

Tare swept down lower, using his claws to part the grass in places where it was tangled and covering, and then a swarm of insects caught his eye. The dragonflies on butterkyn eggs didn't move... but were they seen as prey to smaller insects who took advantage of their immobility? He swept toward the small swarm and waved it away, peering into the grass where they had been swirling and diving, looking for the shine of a stone, the glimmer of a gossamer wing.

Kori forced herself to tear her gaze away from the shiny. She had plenty back at home, in her hoard. Plus, stuff was always washing up here and there near the den and along the hunting trails of the larger game, near the beach, and she could easily gather more, especially shiny shells.

There was always the other end of the dune grass to check. She coiled as fast as she could to the dunes and nearly took a face-first tumble into the long grass! She recovered just in time to keep from hurting herself and Harley, managing to just graze the seagrass with the tip of her long tail.

the sudden question had caught her off guard. Milk? Why would she have any milk on her hands. At the moment there wasn't any hatchings in her flight so she didn't have to worry about it. And besides her hat and sword (strapped to her back) she hadn't thought to bring food.

She looked at the expectant hatchling. It really wasn't good to let a hatching not hae food for any amount of time. She then had an idea. Where there was an island there would be palm trees, and where there were palm trees where...coconuts!

"I don't have any milk on me, but I know where to get some! just stay there and I'll be back in a minute" She made a dash through the pathway they came from, hoping to get back to the beach and find a pam tree with coocnuts on it

Rosemary's soft question turned Aedan's gaze towards the young hatchling. He didn't have any milk, but if poke mattix didn't have any luck in her search for fruit on the island (most of which he wouldn't have picked to begin with), he had something that just might suffice for the poor little European.

Tare's idea if prey and predator were very much the obvious as he flicked aside pieces of the grass to reveal a dull stone and a dragonfly perched upon it. The winged insect, who fluttered irritably as it caught sight of him, was finishing off one of the smaller dune bugs. It seemed, at least, that the dragonly in the strange symbiotic relationship with the ButterKyn did indeed eat.

As Kori sped up the beach and into the dunes, her movement caused sand to swirl and move in odd patterns. If she happened to look back behind her, she would notice that she uncovered more of what had been a partially buried egg. The dragonfly perched on it seemed even less happy about the small sand storm than the one that Tare had found.

It was all Kori could do to keep a grip on the struggling Harley. With the slight panic that came from nearly crashing head-first into the dune, the little butterkyn managed to wriggle out of her foster mother's grasp, trying to zip behind her.

Snarling audibly, Kori whipped around and bore down immediately on the hatchling, snatching her back up immediately. Or trying to. The butterkyn was flitting quickly over to the half-buried egg, but found herself snatched out of mid-air by a taloned forepaw.

"Harley! What do yo--... You found one."

Trilling softly, Harley obediently returned to Kori's talons. She seemed to know what was going on. Sorta. Carefully, Kori reached down with her free forepaw and gently finished unearthing the egg.

Maggie twirled in a circle, confused by a bright light. But it was nothing other than the sun glinting off the ocean. OMGLOLZ He keeps flying "aimlessly".

Tare grinned and slowly reached down with his claws, scooping the egg and dragonfly carefully out of the sand and cradling them carefully in his claws. He very, very carefully held the small egg in his right front claw and held it up to examine it, then swept into the sky, higher up, looking down for Paige. Upon spotting her (and Kori, who was not far off by the look of it), he spiraled down and then swung low along the beach, floating up slowly beside Paige. "Found one. Any luck yet?"

Myrrh turned and watched her mate for a moment, flying aimlessly and confused. Her own butterkyn egg clutched securely in a foretalon, she unfolded her wings, gave a testing flap to be sure of their integrity, and lifted off. She was glad now to soar instead of gliding low over the beautiful, eerie, dangerous kynflowers. The thermals here were amazing: They shifted quite a bit, but there were so many that you could likely maintain a constant altitude without much effort. Soon she found herself beside and a little above the Canadian kyn and holding her position steady.
"Any luck, Magnus?"

Kori coiled slowly over to them, looking down at her forepaws in disbelief. "Yeah... Harley helped me find it." The little hatchling curled in one paw chirruped, hearing her name, and scratched lightly at her fostering mother's scales. The talons spread, making a small gap, through which she peeked her head and gave Tare a chirp of greeting.

"Nope," he replied. He'd been keeping to a rigid pattern all along, like a printer going back and forth across the page, not missing a single pixel... but somehow it seems that a method so logical could easily be mistaken for complete randomness. HINT. D:<

Paige noted that both Kori and Tare had much better luck higher up the beach in the dune grass, where they weren't distracted by the multitude of shells and other things scattered by the surf. She opted to head farther up the beach as well, though by this time had walked a fair ways away from the two Kyn. It was difficult to search, especially considering her size and relative closeness to the beach, but she knew that with everyone else finding eggs it would only be a matter of time before she herself stumbled upon one.

The track back to the beach wasn't to far as poke was running pretty fast, and before long she had reached the sandy beaches of the island. She also took note of paige who was somewhere in the distance as well kori with her butterkyn. With another quick gaze she was able to find a few palm trees on the western side, so she made her way over.

Now the problem was to get them down.... Flexing her hands for a minute, she placed them on the tree and began climbing. Once at the top she looked for the ripest coconuts (the brownest ones) with her tail curled around one of the large leaves case she fell. It wasn't to difficult to pull the nuts from the tree, but she hoped that no one was underneith the tree while she did this.
