Chao yawned quietly and rubbed at her eyes with one hand. Normally when she felt this tired she would simply nap but, sadly, it was nearing lunch and being woken mid-nap by a hunger Loki, Sanar and Rein wasn't all that appealing an option.

Sadly they were currently lacking in several things, bread being one of them, so a trip to the Lodge was in order.

Sanar followed along at Chao's side, rushing forward as they neared the Lodge so she could be the one to turn the doorknob. While having hands and walking on her two remaining hooves sometimes proved to be a bit annoying she was greatful for the new range of feeling her hands allowed her to explore along with the many things she could do now.

Like turn door knobs! Though she wasn't quite tall enough to reach the silly thing. Jumping she latched onto it but wasn't quite able to turn it properly until Chao supported her weight. She turned and pulled; in turn Chao backed up and the door opened.

Gael glanced up from the bundle of paper that Sin had shoved into her hands. She had said that it was an 'alphabet' book, but Gael saw it only as a individualized way of looking at each of the strange glyphs that she had seen in many of Sin's 'books'. In all honesty, she was not all that thrilled by the whole thing, these glyphs, although intesting, leant little to the glyphs that Sin had found in the cave, for those had been written by something completely different. She sighed, and stared at the now opening door. Who was coming in?

She set the book down and inched to be behind Sin, who had paused in her rummaging long enough to glance up, grunt a hello, and go back to her search. Gael was not amused. What if this person was a threat?

But, upon further inspection, Gael found herself staring at Sanar! This was intresting, no more looking at Sin's bundles of paper, she could now inspect this other newly-grown Aerandir!

Sin smiled as Chao walked in, somehow sensing that it would be Chao, not one of the other residents of the island. She nodded to Chao, and said, "Hey you."

She turne back to the bookshelves, intent on finding if there was some other beginning to read books, or island history books. She was intent on knowning more about the island, and Gael, so help her, was going to help her out.

"Hey guys," Chao greeted warmly, pulling Sanar off the doorknob, which she'd become briefly fastenated with upon discovering a slightly loose screw. "What'cha up to?"

Attention dragged away from the interesting, shiny, very cool textured thing which was apparently not going into her collection Sanar pouted up at her mother, only to be nudged.

The Aerandir child turned to those who had greeted them and smiled brightly upon sighting Gael.

"Lo!" she called in greeting, punctuated it was a welcoming click.

Sin's grin turned downwards slightly, as she came to the last book on the shelve. She had found a grand total of three books that could help her and Gael's plight. She was... annoyed. "We're looking for books that have some history of the islands here. I mean, we all know that they're volcanic, but still, there's gotta be something written down about them."

She slumped down next to the bookshelve, paying little head to the fact that Gael was doing the 'shy child' thing. If Gael was uncomfortable, it was not Sin's problem, as she saw it. Gael was more than capiable of being very chatty on her own.

Gael hesitated, conserned about the nature of Sanar's greeting. What was a 'lo'? She wondered, but at the same time, she felt far too afraid to just ask the other child. Instead, she raised her hand, and nodded, "Hi!" It had been one of her first words, after the inital squeeks that had come out durring the eruption, after she'd figured out that it was safe to move again.

"Aha... sounds interesting," Chao replied, pattering off towards the kitchen nearby, "I take it it's not going well?" she called back as she began to search for bread.

Sanar tilted her head at the reservation in Gael's tone, before her eyes caught sight of the thick bundle of papers. With a ruffle of her feathers to convay her curoisity she trotted over and ran a hand over one, touch growing lightly as she noted how light and fragile it felt, like some of Chao's papers.

She looked to Gael curiously but didn't really know how to go about saying 'what is this?' in her mother's speech, she settled for a questioning click.

Sin shook her head. "It is a fruitless search. Maybe we should ask Anthony to get some books for us. Or break into his house. Or something." She would admit that she wanted to know about the island, but what really facinated her was the island in the middle of the lagoon, which had just recently become accessable via the sandbar.

She was planning to send a letter to Nyxa and the rest of the nice people on the other island, inviting them for a picnic on the sandbar, but she hadn't quite gotten there yet. She supposed that it would come in time, and resigned herself to simply contemplating what she would bring to the picnic. She wanted to cook something other than eggs.

Gael blinked and sat down abruptly on the floor, Sanar had touched the bundles too! This truely was facinating. She assumed that she was the only one interested in the bundles, but at the same time - what would Sanar want with them?

When Sanar questioned what the purpose of the bundle that Gael had shown her was, Gael wasn't sure how to respond. It was an 'alphabet book' as Sin had put it. She was struck with inspiration. Reaching behind her, she grabbed another bundle and opened it up, carefully leafing through the pages, she found two glyphs that were similar and gestured for Sanar to look.

"Same," she intoned, using the word that Sin often used when folding those odd tubes of fabric that she insisted on putting on her feet.

"I don't think he has a house," Chao replied, squeezing a loaf of bread to test it for staleness, "I think he's staying here at the Lodge. Though either way just asking is probably the way to go."

"Sa-amme?" Sanar repeated slowly, ears flicking curiously as she looked from one glyph and noted that they were, in fact, the same! With a excited swish of her tail she leafed through the bundles and found another two that were similar before looking to Gael curiously, as she seemed to know more about the glyphs than she did. "Same?"

Sin blinked at Chao. "What do you mean that Anthony lives in a shack in the woods or here at the lodge for that matter? No, he has a house. It's not very well kept up, lots of cats and paper work running around...." She shuttered at the thought. "I just don't think that he's staying here. It wouldn't smell so ... musty."

Gael nodded, impressed at Sanar's finding skills. She would have to use her new found friend's skill in the future, when she discovered just how bodies worked and what came from what hand motions. She waved a hand to yet another glyph. "Same, same." She sang out, her voice high pitched over Sin and Chao's coversation.

"Really? I know he has an apartment or two here..." Chao scratched at her cheek curiously, then chuckled, "think he has a million folded pairs of socks in his house?"

Sanar grinned, proud of herself for catching onto the game and quickly found a trio of similar glyphs, "saaaammme, same same," she sang with Gael before breaking into happy a bout of laughs at the way their voices meshed and echoed in the room.

Sin chuckled lightly, and turned to see the two children singing as they looked at the books. "Most definately, lots and lots of socks." She turned to Chao, "I've been meaning to ask you; have you had any luck with the mini-gryphs? I've got two living with me right now... they're like house cats - badly trained ones."

Gael stood up and ran over to Sin, deep in conversation with Chao's mother. She pulled on Sin's pantleg, wanting to get her attention, to ask her what was the purpose of these glyphs, but being unable to find the words.

She wanted to know so much, and yet her grasp on language did not let her overly-questioning mind come up with a decent way of asking. It was really frustrating.

Chao frowned, "ew, that was a bad mental image. I think of housecats and I can see is cat litter." She shuddered, "but yeah, they've infected our home too. There's like... three of them, maybe? I think that's right. Sanar's taken them under her wing, I think she thinks of them as an army of something. Or maybe minions."

Sanar watched as Gael ran to her big being before looking back to the glyph printed pages. There's a lot of them and the texture is so nice... no one would mind if one or two were gone, right?

With a grin she prompty ripped out two pages and stuffed them into her bag.

Gael gasped as Sanar pulled the sheets out of the book, lunging forward and stuggling to get them away from her. They belonged in the books! Not in... that bag from a foregin country!

"Sanar... with minions?" Sin questioned, smiling as she looked at the children in front of her. "There's a scary throught." She shuttered and turned her eyes back to Chao, "Why do you think they choose to come and live here of all places?"

Sanar yelped when Gael grabbed at the sheets, "no!" she cried with a furious click, latching onto them and pulling back, furiously trying to stuff them back into her bag. There were lots! Why wouldn't Gael let her have a few?!

"It is, thankfully, this is an island and... there isn't exactly a lot she can conquer," Chao replied with a shrug, quirking an eyebrow at Sanar and Gael, "the mini gryphons? I don't know, maybe they're somehow connected to the other gryphons?"

Sin nodded in agreement, knowing that Chao was usually right about the small sizes of place, fewer places to hide, far fewer places to be seen. She had always, since Sin had met her, been good at knowing to not take things out of proportion, the way that Sin's mind tended to do... most of the time. As she mused on this new development to teh conversation, she realized that Gael and Sanar were in the process of nearly killing each other. She stepped forward, "Gael, leave poor Sanar alone!" She called, knowing that it was more likely than not Gael who had instigated the fight.

Gael's face fell as Sanar managed to pull the pages with glyphs back into her bag. She would find a way to get them back, she was sure of it. It was all a matter of timing.

She glanced to see her mother deep in thought, talking to Sanar's mom, before she lunged, nearly missing the bag. "Not-" She stopped talking as she realized that she had yet to grasp the meaning of the next word, "Yours!"

Heedless to Sin's sudden exclamation, she struggled to get the pages back.

At Sin's exclamation Chao realized that they're kids really were about to maim one another but... why?

Sanar clicked avidly, rumbling back in her throat in aggravation and attempted to grab her bag back and run. "Mine!" she yelled back, gripping the bag fiercely.

"Oh dear," Chao stepped over and loomed over her daughter, "Sanar, what did you take?"

Sanar, still fighting for her bag, looked up and glared, "mine," she stated sullenly.

Chao leaned over and picked up the offending bag out of the fighting childrens grasp, much to Sanar's chargin. The Aerandir child jumped and attempted to grab back her bag but Chao ignored her and pulled out the pages. "Aha, so this is what you took, eh?"

Sanar crossed her arms and ruffled her wings. "Lots." She pointed at the book.

"Sanar, these aren't yours, they belong here, taking things that aren't yours is bad."

Sanar glowed but look slightly cheered when Chao handed her back her bag and then the pages.

"Now, give the pages back to Gael and say you're sorry."

What?! She had to give them back? She'd fought for them!

"Sanar."

Sighing Sanar reluctantly offered the pages back to Gael, she hated it when her mother used that tone, it promised of long amounts of time with out escaping.

"Sowry," Sanar murmured.
