Lifting her lip in a slight snarl, Binti narrowed her eyes. "Yes, as a matter of fact, someone slopped self-renewing paint on me at birth!" she retorted, sarcasm dripping from her voice as her tail flicked back and forth in vague irritation.

Us'kali shook her head, somewhat amused but deciding that Binti could handle this herself.

His ear twitched a good bit, the only sign he was a bit nervous. He sat back, snorted and raised both brows. " 'ell then.. good fer them. They did a good job, din'nee?" He grinned a little, teasing or complimenting? He was complimenting. In some twisted way. His tail curled around him slowly, gaze breaking away from hers, heading around. He let out a breath. He wanted to go take a nap. Again. Already.

Snorting, Binti wasn't quite sure how to react...put in a situation where she couldn't get angry, and felt like leaving would make her look weak...she simply sat back on her haunches, fixing the lion with a narrow gaze.

His grin fadded to a frown, his own eyes narrowing. "Dull dim witted lil' chit.." He sneered, very much under his breath. He rose to his feet, tail lashing some what behind him. Yes, that nap seemed good. He did not like when others didn't respond to him; teasing or not.

((such a brat, yeah?))

Snarling outright, Binti swatted at his tail, claws extended. "Last I checked, one should keep one's mouth shut iff'n they're not wanting to fight..." she hissed, turquoise eyes gleaming.

He gave a little jump, turning, teeth bared in his own snarl. "Fight.. yew?" He sounded scandalized. Plus he wasn't willing anymore chances after that fight with ol' rust bucket. "Guess yer dun know a comment when it bites yew in the arse, eh?" he grinned suddenly again, backing up a few steps, body tensing. Yes. he did like to test peoples limits.

"Whatsamatter? Scared?" Binti hissed, crouching low to the ground, lips pulled back and paws kneading at the ground. "And the problem with comments like that last one is that they're not what I'd call friendly conversation..." she continued, ears pinned back to her skull.

He backed a few more steps, eyes going wide. "Frien'ly eh? Yer don't be seemin' too friendly about now." He rolled his eyes, his own body crouching low, though in a more defensive posture. "Aye.. me? scared? No. That don't be bein' ther case.."

((have to leave.))

The utter gall of this one! "Of course I'm not being particularly friendly now, probably because you INSULTED ME!" she choked out, flexing her claws in the dirt, as if itching to take strips out've his hide.

((cya! this was fun! biggrin ))

With another snarl of indignation, Binti turned on her heel, forcing herself to count to 10...slowly. With an arrogant huff, she plopped down in the dirt beside Us'kali, although her tail still lashed to and fro with pent up anger.

Careful to keep her voice low enough that it wouldn't be heard by the male who'd brought on this mood, Us'kali directed her next statement at Binti. "Sometimes the one who walks away from a confrontation isn't just the one who shows themselves to be the wiser...they're also the one who's shown more confidence, in not having to constantly prove themselves." she spoke slowly, as if the words were of little import, although she couldn't realize how much they'd impact Binti.

Binti blinked, and although she showed no reaction externally, her tail ceased it's lashing, and she flipped the words over in her mind, testing them for worth. It was a life-changing moment, of sorts.

He snorted when she stalked away, gaze flicking around. He let himself swagger off a few feet, laying down, tounge lolling from his mouth, eye lids slowly shutting half way. Maybe a nap would be nice..

Nose high in the air, the jackal scented for menace before slinking towards the pool of water, keeping a good distance from the juvenile lion who'd just plopped down near the water's edge. Unfortunately, he somehow missed spotting binti, although his sharp eyes spotted Us'kali easily enough.

Binti narrowed her eyes, spotting the jackal making his way towards the water hole. Keeping low to the ground, she stalked him for fun, since she wasn't particularly hungry, and was more than a little bit bored. Stopping a few inches behind the thirsty canine, she spoke. "A bit on the careless side, aren't we?" she said, a mocking purr emitting from her throat.

Unable to stop the uneasy twitch that her spoken words provoked, Shujaa whirled around to face the young lioness. "What's it to you?" he growled, his fur almost standing on end. Although he was nearly as large as the juvenile, he was clever enough to realize that he was no match for Binti. He was a jackal living alone, having just left his family group and wandered into this territory. Standing up straight, he met Binti's eyes with his own. "I don't want trouble." he said simply, his eyes reflecting the early afternoon sunlight.

Shrugging, Binti sat back on her haunches. "I meant you no harm." she retorted, oddly friendly. "But you're welcome to travel with me and 'kali, iff'n you'd like." she said, an offer that would have given anyone who knew her a heart attack of surprise. Even she couldn't explain why she'd done it--maybe it was loneliness...she hadn't yet really found a replacement for Essi's particular brand of companionship, after all.

Blinking, Shujaa nodded. "I think I will, at that." he said, nipping at Binti playfully before sprinting off into the brush, a playful whine emerging from his throat.

Binti gave chase, and it didn't take her long to get within pouncing distance. Landing carefully, she rolled with the jackal for a minute before chewing on his ear, oddly at ease.

A young and very dusty lion scampered across the ground, filled with a sudden hyperactive energy that had sprung on him after meeting with Maawio again.

He jumped and skittered across the ground, tapping at a beetle which was crawling madly across the floor. Clouds of dust momentarily clouded the area around him and after a moment of nose twitching the lion sneezed.

He staggered back a few steps and raised a paw to wipe at his snout before moving on once more. He was bored of chasing beetles, he wanted to find someone new to talk to, someone he could make friends with. Maybe even a new pretty girl to practise his chat up lines with ready for when he went back to visit Maawio again.

He sighed and glanced around, eyes suddenly picking out a shape lying on the ground. He sniffed and felt the tickle of another sneeze irritate his snout and with a steady gait, trotted over to see who it was.

Asi couldn't be bothered to look around at all the noise, he was staring at his paws; thinking. He shifted a bit, tail flicking lazily. He let out a sigh and glanced up, but not around.

Amari paused mid-step his whiskers twitching as he drew closer to the other lion. A groan emitted from his slightly parted maw and he let his head droop lower, peering at the coffee-coloured lion through the strands of his mane.

Was fate mocking him or something?

He glanced around to check the coast was clear and then with exaggerated slow steps he moved to cross into the lion's vision, not saying anything until he had determined what kind of mood the other was in.
