"Yes, the family of Ali'ance knew what they were doing when they agreed to fund this Guild." 'Bob' glanced up from his observation of the artefacts on the stall and seemed to observe, or even assess the man before him. It was only a matter of time before he gave a wan smile, "My name is Vincent," He said at last and motioned towards the plaque.

"And where you stand is the Thieves' Guild - all odd bodies, low lives, scoundrels -"

"Hey!" Interjected one of the merchants to which Vincent replied with a bemused smile (luckily it was returned). "Well yes, alright...I admit to the odd bodies." The Merchant mumbled and then eyed Vincent pointedly, "But I don't agree with the low lives!" He snapped again, Vincent could only release a sigh.

"As I was saying," He began once more, "Those of the shadows are granted solace under the decree of the family Ali'ance. The mansion above you is a home donated to them by their closest family friends, the Regalia." He seemed to furrow his brow at this and then promptly shook his head, "However, do be aware that should you betray us you will not only lose any safety provided to you here - but there is a chance you will lose your life." His expression was serious as he slipped his top hat under his arm and offered a loose shrug.

"You keep our secret and we'll keep yours." He promised and tossed what appeared to be a small silver badge towards him, "That will help you get discounts within the taverns, feel free to explore everything that is down here but I would make it your duty not to explore the house above...it is riddled with traps." He then gave a bow and drifted on towards another stall.

"New Arrival..." The merchant cooed thoughtfully at Shyam before releasing a chuckle, "He's bloody bonkers," He gave a nod towards Vincent who was now surrounded by a number of women, "I hope you know your way out and in, yes?"

"Vincent seems a more fitting name." Shyam couldn't help but laugh at the interactions between Vincent and the Merchant. "I noticed that you didn't fight the part about 'scoundrals'," he winked at the merchant in amusement. "I fear that I lay claim to all three," he also shrugged as if it couldn't be helped.

"The Family Ali'ance and Regalia seem great and benevolent. That is wonderful. And I will swear secrecy and fealty to the guild with my life. I would expect it to be no other way."

Deftly, he caught the badge and quickly slipped it into one of the many pockets on his outfit. "I promise only to follow the path that you showed me. I made sure to commit it to memory." Shyam found himself rewalking the same path in his mind, just to make sure that he would never forget. "Thank you so much, kind sir, for bringing me here. I really appreciate it." He inclined his head in a bow of thanks as Vincent was leaving, almost laughing as the debonair man attracted women like honey to flies.

Shyam laughed with the merchant. "He may be bonkers, but he's good at what he does! Oh, yes, thank you, as long as the way out is exactly the same as the way in, I should be able to manage. Though, I'm curious, besides the merchants down here, are there places where I can get better training? After watching Vincent in action, I fear that my own skills are vastly lacking."

((No problem... I just copied over our quotes, and posted them over there. I'll keep the Thieve's Guild stuff there, and my personal life over here... Thanks for your help!))

After training, Shyam retraced his steps, weary from all of the hard work. The sun had already risen, and the early morning merchants in Durem were setting up their stalls, as he made his way back to his apartment with weary steps.

Once home, Shyam flopped into bed, not caring to change. He just hoped that he'd get enough sleep to wake up in time to meet with Trelweny for their picnic.

.:In Which Quinn, Odilen and Mirror Try to Track Down a Dandy and Meet Up With Akiya and Friends:.

Quinn lead them first to the clock tower. She didn't know where to begin and she knew they could restock here, if necessary. It was time to share a few secrets. "I... um... have a house here... if we need anything... Where do you think we should start? Seems to me a dandy might keep the company of prostitutes and in that case, there is a district to the north that is... suitable..."

"I suppose I have a house here too," Odilen murmured, looking up at the clock tower. She knew exactly where the portal that reached the last haven of her Kin was, flickering up there among the gargoyles and other gothic decorations. "But... well. There's not much there. I keep nearly everything in my wagon, and that's in one of the coastal villages right now, sheltering the storm." Fortunately it wasn't so bad here, in fact it was mild and a bit humid.

"The red-light district, huh? Hrm. I suppose that might work. If nothing else we could ask some of the, ah, ladies of negotiable affection."

Quinn chuckled, "Ladies of negotiable affection, eh?" She laughed again, the turn of phrase striking her fancy, "I suppose we could inquire of them... do you have any money on you? I have some, but usually such women require a payment for their information and I dont know how many we'll have to ask..."

((Full disclosure: I stole that phrase from Terry Pratchett. XD))

"Hm... let me check." Odilen dipped into her money-pouch and found a few coins. "I have some, but not much," she admitted. "Storytelling brings in more by way of room, board and food than it does gold. But what I have... I'll use for the cause, I suppose." The Ieldi shrugged. "If nothing else, I can busk on a streetcorner until I get some more - though, I won't be doing that in the red-light district, people might get the wrong idea!" She flushed red for a moment.

"You can leave your chocobo here, if you fear for his safety, but I'm bringing Therin to ensure ours." The Aziraphale yawned nonchalantly, exhibiting a mighty row of chompers.

"Perhaps we should leave a note for Akiya... Do you have any paper?"

Shyam pushed his Chocobo as fast as he could, hoping that Vincent wasn't in any sort of trouble. He'd only met the man once, but he had him to thank for introducing him to the guild. He didn't want to help these unknown people track him down if they just wanted trouble. So he hoped to find Vincent first.

It took some time because of the storm, which luckily abated, the closer to Durem that he got. Once in town, he hurried to the Northern part, where the houses grew older.

He dismounted the Chocobo and tied it to a fence a block away, in case he needed her help some more, feeding her some Ghysal greens that he pulled from his pocket to placate her while waiting. Then, making sure that no one was around, he carefully made his way to the house that had been shown to him, wary so that he wouldn't get spotted.

With a deep breath, Shyam made his way through the front door, and followed the path that he'd been shown, to safety. Getting in while following his guide had been one thing, but this was his first time back on his own, so he walked with trepidation.

He breathed normally again, once he was on the steps and down into the underground hallway. Will the hilt of his short sword, he tapped on the marble plate and waited to be invited in.

"Do I have any paper? Might as well ask if a garden has leaves!" Odilen winked and produced a fairly hefty roll of parchment and papers from her largest belt-pouch. "What do you want me to write?" She walked over to a building and used the wall as a writing surface, propping the paper up on it, removing a pen from her belt as well and looking at Quinn expectantly.

"Just that we are heading to Northern Durem to rustle us up some... 'ladies of negotiable affection.'" She chuckled again at that. "That way, if he gets here before we come back, he can find us. If you have an extra pen, I might leave one with the note... you know, in case he needs to contact us and can't be here to do so."

She looked back to make sure Mirror was still fairing ok and waited for Odilen to finish so they could be on there way.

The wet and the cold was starting to get to him. Toughness and your immune system will only carry you so far. As he stomped towards Durem's walls, he was already sniffling, and snuffling, feeling a slight fever coming to himself. As he reached downtown, he was sneezing, and his stomach was feeling sick. When he was finally near the clocktower area, he was feeling the chills, shivers, and full effects that the cold and being wet could inflict upon him.

Suffice to say he was quite miserable. His ogrish nature was even telling him to just bite the heads off of everyone there and eat their bones. it might not make him better, but he'll feel better after Quinn made him tramp around in the foul weather.

It was thus looking sick as all hell, soaked to the bone, familiars and ogre, and with a very vile expression on his face he neared the open ground of the clocktower. His fists were clenched, and in his left, he was already holding his warclub in hand. The debate between ogre and human, crushing and eating everyone there, and hearing them out, was a pitched battle right now.

"Alright. Just a second." Though the angle was a bit awkward, Odilen wrote the note quickly with a minimum of ink splotches and smears. "There we are... now, where shall we leave it so it'll be seen? Just here on the tower?" She waved the note back and forth in the air to dry the ink as fast as possible.
