Bob nods a bit, " I'll have to have some time to fully think it over and discuss it with my associate. So for now let's leave it at a maybe. If you wish to continue, it would certainly give us more information to base our decision on."

"Very well. However, like all deals, there is a catch. If hired, you will be conscripted to stay in service for one year. All of your errands wil be compromised and paid for. You will get pay, holidays, retirement for three or more years, and all travel expenses. The catch: you will be held under oath on penalty of execution if anything you see here is told to a civilian or non-Imperial personel. Other than that, you'd follow my orders and that'd be it for you, Bob."

Bob nods once more, " well. it's a bit to think about. As I said, I'll need time to talk this over in private with my associate. one year of my life isn't an insignificant promise after all."

((is the base still employing yalsalimir, or what ever those anti force bubble generating creatures are?))

Natalia watched the pair with detached curiosity for a moment. The fact that Bobs future with the empire had been laid out clearly but not her own was not lost on her. Still she didn't say anything about, not yet anyway.
She sat patiently instead, waiting for them to finish there conversation and trying to ignore the sense of unease that was coursing through her. There was something about the place that pulled at a memory, one buried deeply in her childhood. A fact which was unnerving on its own considering what most of those memories were.

"I'm fully aware of that. Take as much time as you need, since you'll be here for a while otherwise." He walked off, and returned to the bridge of his ship.

Bob waited until he was gone before turning to Natalia and saying, " rather strange that he didn't mention any job for you, isn't it? then again, he may want to put you through a test of your capabilities before making any concrete offers."

As he spoke, Bob placed a hand on Natalia's shoulder, and conveyed a seperate message. I am getting a bad feeling about this. we should go as soon as we can. however, we should still be as polite as possible in our refusal...unless you think we should take the offer?

"Probably, he seems the cautious sort which is hardly a fault in his position." Natalia said, seeming almost board as she spoke though her body was tense despite its relaxed posture.

Honestly, we probably don't have a choice about accepting at the moment. If he wants you to work for him then its highly unlikely that he will let either one of us go and if refused his persuasive tactics may become...unpleasant. It might be for the best to just accept and see what happens.

"And I did tell him I had references, someones probably checking them out." She added aloud with a sight and head shake, as if she were one who openly didn't enjoy such formalities.

Natalia thought of the threat that had been laid against them about trying to escape. The Chiss wasn't going to bandy words unnecessarily with them if he wanted something. It was probably for the best if they both just went limp and accepted the terms. Being cooperative would likely get them more then trying to decline. Still, something about the place disturbed Natalia and gave her the distinct feeling that she would not enjoy knowing any of it secrets.

I can't make up my mind...do what you think is best.

Bob Nods a bit, " well, I guess we'll have to wait for him to come back and see what he offers you before making any decisions. After all, I can't well accept a position if I'm going to wind up on a different ship than my best friend."

As he spoke, Bob conveyed to Natalia: I think we should try to steer clear of job acceptance. I would rather not attach myself to a group I know next to nothing about for a year. at least, not one that gives me this freaky vibe. We should at least try to leave peacefully. if they refuse to allow us to go, or attempt to bully us into staying...well, then we'll know what to do.

"You have a- best friend?" Natalia was caught off guard for a moment and looked at Bob questioningly but then shook it off.
"Well, I guess I'd qualify for that and I'd rather not be separated either." She said and nodded, her shoulders relaxing a bit now that something like a rough plan was laid out, even if it didn't really cover much more then a couple minutes worth of time. Long term could be delt with when it became a problem.

It was then that something occurred to Natalia that made her shoulders tense right back up.

Bob, my father is part of the republic military...oh man...this could get rough if they look at my records to much. The thought carried overtones of extreme anger like all of them associated with her father did. It was also possible that they both might be released because of the connection but Natalia wasn't an optimist.

Bob nodded a bit, " bad indeed."

Meanwhile, He thought back to Natalia, Well, that does sound bad...but it'd probably be worse for me. I'm not sure if I'm even registered as a citizen of any government...hell, they might try to claim that I don't exist and thus I don't have rights...at least you would be used as a bargaining chip. In any case...it's thier move now.

After a while, Elladan came back in the room, followed by a guard with a tray of drinks. "Care for some blue milk? You can scan it if you like, but I assure you, it's pure. Have we come to a decision?" He didn't say this in a threatening way at all.

"Thank you." Natalia said and took a glass off of the tray. Poisoning them at this stage would not be a very sound move and she sincerely doubted that the Chiss would make a mistake like that, still she didn't drink just yet. Being polite was one thing, stupid another.

"Your welcome." He took a seat at the briefing table and reclined relaxingly.

Bob politely motioned to the guard with the drink tray, " no thanks, I'm fine..."

As he took a seat, Bob looked over to Elladan, " I've thought it over...and I've come to the conclusion that I know far too little about who I would be working for. In addition to this, I feel that a year commitment is far too long for me to cement myself within at this time. I'm sorry, but I must politely decline your offer, I may reconsider this at a later date, but for now it just doesnt....feel...right."
