Mayu nodded, walking over to Demare to give him a hug before having to return to the guest room where Kimiko had already fallen asleep. She yawned lazily and drifted off to sleep in the boy's arms, clinging tightly -- she hugged a stuffed animal while she slept, so it was habit for her.

Demare's light fizzled out at the hug, having realized that she fell asleep, the child blushing profusly. Oh dear... she was even holding onto him still, standing up in front of him. He couldn't just... wake her up. After thinking for a moment, he shifted himself on his bed until the girl was forced to at least sit down, being very careful so as not to wake her up. He didn't dare lay back, however... He knew he'd get an earful if either guardian saw the two like that.
Taking up his blanket, he wrapped it around himself and his friend, resting his head against hers as he wrapped his arms gentlely back around her. It took a long time, but he did manage to fall asleep, his cheeks seeming to be stained with pink even in his slumber.

"Mayu! Maaaayu?"
Kimiko had woken up bright and early as she did every morning, and having noticed that her daughter was not sleeping in the room with her, had assumed that the Legend was already up and awake. Bounding down the hallway, she peered into each and every room to check if the girl was playing there -- or something of the sorts. Of course, she stopped straight in her tracks and gawked as she took a glance into Demare's room.
They were.. hugging. And sleeping, by the looks of it. She didn't want to wake them up (well, yes, she did, but that would have been rude, and they would also know that she had been spying on them again) and stood there quietly as she tried to figure out what to do.

"Does it really bother you that much?" Neko said quietly, having snuck up behind Kimiko silently. She moved past the teenager, picking up the toddler on the bed as she knew he'd be waking up soon and didn't want to disturb the other children.
"What's the worst that could happen, Kimiko...? As I said last night, they're only kids."

"Well, yes, it does." Kimiko sighed, leaning on the doorframe. "Maybe I'm overprotective, I admit that, but still."
Mayu stirred lightly, and sat up slowly after releasing her near-death grip on Demare. She noticed Neko and Kimiko standing in the room after a few seconds of letting her vision clear, and waved a hand lazily before dozing off again.

Neko smiled a little bit at Mayu, then turned back to Kimiko.
"Do you trust her?" she asked, her tail flicking a little bit as she made her way out into the hallway. "Do you have faith in the fact that she wouldn't do anything she shouldn't?"

"Yes, I do," Kimiko said, with a sigh. "But I can't help but be protective of her anyway." A good parent had to be protective of their kid, after all. Of course, there was such a thing as going a little overboard.

"I understand that," she said, thinking about the way Domonic had treated her while she was pregnant. "But walk in their shadow for too long, and you'll start stepping on their heels. Watching over everything she does could potentially cause problems in the future."
Starting down the hallway, she said one more thing before disappearing down the stairs.
"It's okay to be protective. However, lighten up a little bit... You're still growing up yourself, after all."

"I'll remember that," Kimi sighed, walking back to the room. The power had returned overnight, and the storm was over, so she just had to wait for Mayu to get up and they could go home.
The Legend stirred once again, looking toward the hallway. The storm must have ended, she reckoned, as Kimiko was waiting outside.. to take her home? She was a bit sad, but knew that she would be seeing Demare again in the future. Noticing that he was still sleeping (and hugging her), she wriggled slightly, trying to get out of the hug without waking him up.

Demare was a fairly lightly sleeper. While he only had heard mumurs a moment ago, his eyes opened slowly as he felt movement right next to him. Mayu must have been awake, he assumed, taking in a deep breath as he released the girl, stretching his arms and back for a moment.
"M-morning..." he said a bit sleepily.

"Morning," Mayu said, smiling.
"You're awake. Ready to go, sleepyhead?" Kimiko called, poking her head into the room. "The next bus leaving for Durem is in around half an hour, and the station's a pretty far walk."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm getting up," she said, yawning. Looking back over to Demare, she smiled sadly and hugged him. "See you again soon?" she asked, peering up.

Demare smiled weakly, hugging her back. He was sad to see her go, but...
"You can count on it," he told her, a silent promise that they'd keep in touch.

"Alright," Mayu smiled, then unwrapped herself from the blanket and got up to join Kimiko. She waved to Demare and made the call-me gesture while mouthing the words silently, signalling him to call her whenever.
Kimiko found Neko quickly and said her thanks again for allowing them to stay at her house overnight.
"You guys come visit whenever. We're in Durem.." she said, while scratching the address out on a sheet of scrap paper Mayu had pulled out from her pocket. Handing it to Neko, she checked the nearest clock.
"The bus leaves in 25 minutes, we've gotta dash. See you again soon, hopefully!" she called, grabbing Mayu by the arm and dashing off in the direction of the bus station.
