[kamui] Number_09 [kamui] Number_09 How many 2nd trumpets does it take to change a lightbulb? One, but none of them can reach it. crying ...It's true though ._. I'm stuck playing all firsts in my school's concert band. I miss the good ol' days when I was on 3rd and stuff... it was a freaky change for me bcause all the "really good" trumpet players quit band second semester when I was in grade 9. So all of a sudden, you have this little grade nine kid on firsts... Wow. sweatdrop We have all of the freshman playing first at the moment, but they're moving down to second soon. They're good, but cocky. They all have private lessons too. And because they are freshman , but have lessons, they'll play second. Usually they would play third. its my freshmen year now and when they decided for chairs my second chair whose in tenth grade and who i realli think should have my chair ran up to me all crazi like and wanted to kno how i got first chair. so now hes always challenging me its quite annoying sweatdrop but i do think that the chairs are predetermined cuz i thought i did horrible at my audition and was quite shocked 3nodding

This might have been asked before but here it is anyway:
Does anyone have (has anyone tried) the Yamaha Silent Brass system? If you have, is it worth the $100+?
'Cause I;m really thinking of getting one for music class* and so I can practice at un-godly hours of the morning in my room**
~~
* At my school, the music class is one big class of grades nine through 12 and we're pretty much herded into practice rooms for most of the semester. And if you know the "History of P.R. 1" you'd know that NOTHING ever gets accomplished in there. XP
** My room is in the basement and everyone else is on the 2nd floor so if I get one, I should be OK with practicing whenever the heck I want.

I'm using a 3C. I used a 7C for a couple years. One of the main differences is that the 7C is easier to hit high notes, but the sound is much better on a 3C. If you're not a beginner, I suggest using a 3C or something else. I haven't had any other types for more than a couple of days though. The 7C came in handy when I first got my braces...

I'm really interested in buying one.
If you go to your local Silent Brass stockists, they will probably let you try one out and you can judge it for yourself.

My school has "unofficial" section leaders, usually they're the best or one of the best in the section. And also usually, they're on bna dexec. (AKA the Band High Council) I am the trumpet leader at my school only because I've been playing the longest (this is my third year...) That's really sad if you think about it.
