Shun took the radio back, then nodded to both Autumn and Lucas. He goes over to the door and peeks out to make sure it's clear. Once he was sure it was okay, he looked back, waiting for Lucas to come on out with Lara.

A cat that could locate portals, people who were half animals and wargs which Chel had still not entirely pieced together.
But- there was a lady they could help.
"No offense but it'd probably be better fer me t'take her down. Shun's got the gun he needs t'stay with y'all." That, and Chel wanted to feel like she'd at least done something.

"Alright. Let's... swap Shun for Chel, then?" Autumn hedged, looking at the group. They did at least need ONE good fighter... since it would be her, Zac (also sad and smol), Rosie (tough but not a were or cop or werecop), and Lina and the reporter. It was probably a good call.
"Thanks for the suggestion, Chel. You're being a lot smarter than me right now," Autumn admitted, rubbing the back of her neck.
This just... sucked.

"Take deep breaths, we will get through this," came Mercer's voice, "and do what you've lined up. That's the best thing for now."
Shun looked between Chel and Autumn.
"I think Mercer wants the extra security on Lupin."

Staring at the carnage, at Lara Lupin the crazy professor who lost something that only perhaps three other people in the world could understand, Lina was sick to her stomach. Her stomach had heaved and she'd choked on bile in the corner, spitting without a care as to what she got on the carpet. It was far past the point of being salvageable -- and all this from a woman who wanted to be a doctor. Yet it wasn't the gore that bothered her; it was the look on Lara's face and the hopelessness therein. Hearing others bicker about who was going to take Lara downstairs to (relative) safety, the brunette's mind was made up. "I don't care who is taking her down but I'm going too. If Cerby's really..." she hesitated. "If he's gone then she's bad off in a way that has nothin' to do with all this." She gestured around the room. "I'll stay down there with her." Following up behind Lucas, the bird still pressed against her shoulder trilled once, a sad note that echoed its partner's sentiments entirely. shibrogane Lina's going downstairs and staying, using my one route swap for this meta. =)

"Fine," he said in a tone that indicated he wasn't waiting for them to hash out who had more investment than whom. "Chel, is it? Lina, you ladies with me. We've cleared the area so it should be smooth sailing." Lucas nodded to them and to Shun before exiting the room, taking Lara downstairs to safety.

Chel nodded. They seemed like they knew what they were doing and Chel trusted Shun's judgment. For all she teased him, he really did have a good head on his shoulders and was definitely more certified (literally and figuratively) to handle situations like this.
She turned to Jack while the others deliberated who had moved towards the window and the ... yikes. Chel paced towards the window a put a hand on the small of his back. "You okay? You should probably get some pictures in of ... that." She gave him one more pat on the back before the group decided she would go with the lady.
"Alright. Let's go. Wait fer us t'come back though?" She didn't want them to explore elsewhere on their own. Even with Shun, numbers were better.

"I think... Lucas is right," Autumn said after he'd left, turning to look at Chel and the others.
"After this, we should head upstairs."

"Sergeant Kuroda, I would advise that you stay with the group." Jeremiah amended over the radio. "Both combat trained individuals do not need to leave the group. Let Lucas take her downstairs." "Roger that. Two of the others have already gone down with Lucas. One will be staying with Lupin downstairs. We have finished checking our side; we will be moving upstairs shortly." he replied. With that, he nodded to the others. "Let us move over by the stairs to wait for them there."

"I'm good with going upstairs," Jack said with a nod. "Just...hurry back." Even with Shun staying, he preferred safety in numbers.
For now, as he examined the were Lara had killed, having taken them off the window and laid them out on the ground, he took several photos and again looked for ID. These people weren't cold blooded murderers—and the APD would probably appreciate speeding up the crime scene processing. Then he would follow the group towards the stairs to wait.

Jack pulls the were off the window and… it's not the original were, hair's the wrong color, but it's a young dead male, yellow eyes wide in death. Glass is caught in his face and neck and chest where he likely seized upon behind thrown face-first into the window. His mouth is bloody. His name was David Arrowak. He has three stamped, but unsent, letters inside his jacket. One of them is full of old polaroids. Lara didn't seem aware of her change in position. Her entire world is the bundle in her arms. Once Chel and Lucas have returned, the group ascends the spiral stairs. This is the room of art catalogues, the largest collection on the east coast. It is well-lit, and you can hear the sounds of several weres: screaming, crying. THE NUMBERS ARE 16, 6, 4 THE TIME IS 1830 YOU ARE IN THE THIRD FLOOR WHITE ZONE LARA AND LINA HAVE GONE DOWNSTAIRS YOU ARE NOW PROCEEDING UPSTAIRS
YOUR NEXT GM POST WILL COME AT 1900 PST Rules Amendment As there are ranged weapons present in the game, rules have been created to account for them. As all guns in the game are property of the police department, firing them comes with a consequence of having to explain in a later thread why you fired to your boss. You cannot be damaged by the were, but the gun is a risky proposition. To fire, please roll a 1d10. The damage scale looks like this: 1-4: You fire your gun into the chaos and do a flat 5dmg to your peer with the lowest health, including you. 5-7: You fire your gun into the chaos and do a flat 5dmg to the were. 8-10: You fire your gun into the chaos and kill the were. You now have to explain why you wasted all of your deescalation training and killed somebody who was not in their right mind.

Only after he'd given the helpers downstairs strict instructions to not remove the bundle in Lara's arms did he let her go, leaving her in the care of those that could do what he could not. Lucas rejoined his group on the stairs and gave them all a nod before they ascended to the final terrace. It was a horrible sound, the shrieking, the cries. Lucas clenched his teeth but otherwise kept his expression steeled, the soldier on the move. He had no encouragement or instruction for the group, as this was the end of the line - and it was for them or the screams around them. The lighting at least allowed for the minimizing of ambush. "If you see anything move," he offered tightly, "speak up. We'll have our hands full up here."

When Lucas returned, Autumn stuck to his side as they headed up the stairs. She offered no more suggestions or comments, feeling both ashamed from her outbursts and exhausted from the situation. All in all, she was ready to go home.

Chel shrank back to Lucas talking. This woman clearly meant more to them than it did to her; she was glad to see them safe but also wasn't really sure that letting the woman cradle a dead dog was a good idea. But maybe it had something to do with his with his were senses or something.
She was genuinely surprised nobody shot Lucas on sight downstairs too. She was giving people The Look if they tried to make a comment though. Now wasn't the time for Rudeness.
Once returned she saw Jack holding a few bloody tokens and while it was sure she would question him about them later, now was again not the time for it.
She could HEAR them to be certain, but seeing- lots of bookshelves in the way. "Uh, Shun you wanna take point maybe with the pistol end out? We can stay behind you an' out of yer way an' s**t."
