All we had were empty SLOTS and ya had to buy MAGATAMAS and then you had to TRAIN for the skills on the magatama and put them into the slots! And ya only had SO MANY OF 'EM you could use! Those were the days...but these damned Millennial Demons, they want it all handed to 'em on a SILVER PLATTER! What with yer' COMP Stations and yer' SUMMONIN' APS! Meanwhile we older demons remember what it was like when a DEMON wasn't an ally bought and traded for, but one you actually had to NEGOTIATE with! And even then we might take your Macca and then PUNCH YA IN THE FACE! CAUSE THAT'S WHAT BEIN' a DEMON WAS ABOUT!"

Hatsu was not entirely comfortable with the direction that this conversation was going or continuing to listen to this geriatric demon continue to dance on the 4th Wall to brazenly.

The voice made the redhead turn, the frown on her lips accentuating at the sight. "I am doing this for Hatsu, not for you." Seika answered with a snap, even when the man smiled at her abrasiveness. Seika knew she owed him much... he had saved Hatsu and her several times before... and she knew his ideals were noble ones. Still... all this fighting... all thes talk about defeating JPs and Yamato... it sounded strange. Did Hatsu see it too?
Still... "Remember what I said yesterday. Hatsu survives this no matter what. Make sure of it." It didn't matter what happened to her...or what could happen to him... if it meant Hatsu was well.

Seika Murakami The shelter was doing well... she had eliminated a few demons trying to get in from one of the weakened walls, but besides that, it had been quiet. Perhaps too quiet. Was the war elsewhere? Were there others out there attacking and fighting?

In the time between the beginning of this Calamity and this War between Factions now there had been a million times when someone who was a bit more sane or who didn't care could have abandoned him. He had taken an unreasonable stance right from the beginning, insisting that he help people get to the shelter, and then insisting that he help fortify the shelter, and then fighting the demons that attacked the shelter and repairing the shelter and improving the shelter all the way up to and through joining together with Ronaldo to create a world in which the people who needed them, like the ones in this very shelter that he had helped build and protect and repair over and over would be safe...she could have left his side any of those times. And maybe if she had been doing things thew ay that she wanted to, she would have left and gone to a different faction. Maybe she would have protected herself, and there would have been nothing wrong with that, really. In a calamity like this, you really only had the responsibility to stay alive. Hatsu had merely made it his duty to do more...but she didn't have to.
And yet she did.
"Thank you, Seika," he spoke out of nowhere as they kept an eye on the outskirts of the shelter, looking straight at her while she was looking anywhere but at him. It had just come bursting out, but it had to be said at least once. Before this was over. Before the world was remade or one of them died or worse. No hesitation. No tics. Just clear and honest gratitude. "I'll make this new world worth it. I will fight for you, too." Seika Murakami The redhead had been lost in thought...the wind flowing lightly, waving the red locks just lightly. This world... they would create this new world were everyone was equal. It still sounded bizarre... almost impossible to believe that there were greater powers over them controlling the fate of humanity. Just how would all this end?
She had been lost in thought. But when those words were uttered, Seika snapped back to the present, turning to look at her companion who was smiling at her with his usual peaceful smile... and she couldn't help the corner of her lips tugging into a ghost of a smile. He was thanking her... "You don't need to thank me..." the redhead muttered, feeling suddenly sheepish. "I am doing this because I want to... I believe in you, Hatsu. I am sure you'll make this new world work.
"So, thank you, Hatsu." She patted his shoulder gently, before turning and starting to walk some place else...anywhere else. There was a feeling about to burst in her chest... and in that moment she could've kissed him. But then... no one would have been able to erase that silly smile from his face for days. The way she patted his shoulder and walked away with that small smile that told him so much that she didn't even need to say, the way that his spirits rose tenfold when he knew that she was there beside him, ready to fight no matter what they were up against as long as they were together. Yeah, even someone like him could figure out what he was feeling just then. Her walking away, that red hair fluttering in the breeze as they looked on towards an uncertain tomorrow, and all he needed to know for sure about that tomorrow as that she would be there to believe in it. To believe that they could make their world a reality...

A little noise, like a twig snapping, alerted her of another presence nearby, and the girl whirled just as some guy jumped on her trying to attack her from behind. Her ashen eyes shifted to the left...and the right as more of them appear. "An ambush...Tch." They wouldn't be able to finish them on their own, not now at least. They had been taken off guard... and they wouldn't pay for it with their lives. "Hatsu, run!" Her Jack Frost lunged a huge icicle their way, giving them enough time to escape from the other side. "Hard Luck" Hatsu Harima, the Heartbreak Kid"Aa, I'll stand my ground...I'll help you."What had ambushed Seika had almost killed Hatsu..the attention of the attackers turning just as he had been rushing over to try and defend her, catching him by surprise and hitting him with an attack that nearly knocked him off of his feet...instead seeing him land on his foot and one knee, skidding to a stop along the blacktop where he recovered and struggled slowly back to his feet. That...if he had been even an ounce weaker, even a level lower...
"Aa...Sei...ka," he coughed, wiping his lips and feeling much better in that moment, "Let's go!" He wasted no time in escaping the area...and another near-miss death at the hands of an unforgiving world. Hatsu didn't even have time to think before Seika was under attack by Benetnasch and the two of them were fleeing together into the alley. Leaping over a dumpster, Hatsu wasn't sure it would do any good but he pulled the thing in the way and then disappeared with his companion far and away from the attack that had nearly planted them both into the ground just before the finish line.
"Aa...too close," he wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead and glanced over at Seika...and against all odds the corner of his lips curled up into a small smile, "It's exciting...a new world...just as soon as we finish Benetnasch." "Hard Luck" Hatsu Harima, the Heartbreak Kid"Aa, I'll stand my ground...I'll help you."It was the final day...and with the final day came challenges that were simply on another level from those that they had faced in the six days prior. Of course, there was Benetnasch...the impenetrable and indestructible Septentrione as their main enemy...but there were devils in hordes and incredibly high power levels swarming from every alley, down the streets, and even into the buildings into which many might have been hiding the days before. It was a city under siege, and Iwatodai's defenses beyond the shelter of Ronaldo's Faction were non-existent at this point. Hatsu and Seika tried to make their way back to the park, but demons had been ambushing them left and right, threatening to overrun them. It was hectic, terrifying; it was only when the young boxer rounded a corner near the shelter and saw one of the JPs summoning terminals that a plan came to him. No time to consider if it was a good one.
He flipped open his phone and invited the power to flood into his body, eyes shimmering and crackling with a milky white power.
"Aa...I am..." he turned and a blade of ethereal power formed within his hand, a single wave leveling and tearing through a wave of attacking devils like a hot knife through butter...and many of their pursuers were at last culled and dispersed, until a stronger vanguard lead them in another charge. And the ones that remained were swiftly dealt with.
Exhaustion filled him as the power fled, but he descended back to the Earth alive, if nothing else...but they needed to return to the station now, while they had the chance. He nodded at his companion to let her know he would be fine. "Let's go..."
