It was still a city, but at least Santalune seemed quieter than the over crowded, sky scrapper scattered Lumoise. Sighing, Jacque rubbed the back of his neck, heading towards the pokecenter, but pausing to release Dewott and Jesse, who fluttered her wings a bit and then crawled over to circle around Jay. "Hey Dewott, chu tried tha' 'shroom ah gave ya back at thuh fair?" he asked. Dewott blinked, perking up, and then pulling out the balm mushroom, looking at it. He seemed to stare a moment, then popped it into his mouth, chewing with a slightly disgusted expression. Didn't taste very good.... He swallowed, and JD raised his eyebrows, waiting a moment. After a long pause, though, he gestured absently. "Feel any diff'rent?" he asked. "De... wott..." the pokemon replied uncertainly.
Jay raised an eyebrow, but reached back for his pokedex. "Y'know," he started, bringing his bag around to shift about for the device, "Ah been thinkin', bout yer nickname'n such." Dewott perked up, not taking his eyes off Jay even as his trainer withdrew the pokedex and opened it. "Was sorta thinkin' 'bout Odysseus... Like thuh hero, who traveled all over'n defeated all those monsters'n e'rything," Jacque continued, opening the device, absently listening while he talked, as it began reading Dewott's information, starting with his species and pokedex entries, "Whaddaya think? Ah though it sorta fit--""Moveset: Tackle, Razor Shell, Iron Tail, and Fly."".... Say what now?" Completely derailed from his train of thought, Jacque frowned, furrowing his brow at the device. "Did this thing jus' say flah?" he muttered, then recomposed himself, "Repeat moveset," he instructed, muttering, "Better not be busted alreadeh..." He'd had the thing customized to do everything audibly, since, well... he couldn't exactly see the screen. "Moveset: Tackle, Razor Shell, Iron Tail, and Fly."
Jacque was still for a long moment, his pokemon, even Scyther, watching for his reaction. Finally he lifted his head. "Dewott, use Fly," he instructed dubiously. "De?" The water pokemon looked surprised, glancing at Scyther, who nodded. What... how? How was he supposed to fly? With Zoey back on his shoulder, squeaking to give him echoes, Jay waited patiently, while Dewott uncertainly tried to figure out what to do. Did he just... jump? The water pokemon tried it-- and found himself soaring up. "D-de woooooOOAAAAAAAAAAA..."
The whole group seemed to stare (or in Jacque's case, listen) where Dewott had been just a moment. Scizor shifted, and looked up, spotting the flailing pokemon up in the air. Jacque moved his weight to one side. "... Huh..." He tilted his head up, listening to his pokemon, clearly quite terrified with his new found, unnatural ability to fly, hover in the air. "Can ya come down, Dewott?" he called up, "Ya may have ta go get 'em, Jesse..." The beedrill buzzed uncertainly at the suggestion, but a moment later, Dewott came crashing down, landing with an 'Umph!' He laid flat on the ground, face first, for a moment, then slowly, dizzily, stood up. "Ya alright, Dewott?" he asked. "D-De.... wott..." the pokemon reassured, still a bit dazed. "C'mon, we can go to thuh pok'center real quick, getcha looked at," he urged, motioning for the pokemon, then turning to follow Scizor in the right direction.
Well then... a Flying Dewott. He wasn't quite sure the world was ready for this...

With Scizor leading the way, the group headed towards the pokecenter, Jesse walking beside Jay, and Zoey on his shoulder. Dewott lagged a bit behind, trying to get a hold of his new move. He jumped up-- them plummeted right back down. He pushed himself to his feet, hopped up, and this time, seemed to hover, gliding about a foot, and then dropping. He tried again--- and shot straight up, yelling in surprise. Jay would stop each time the pokemon made a sound of distress, listening to make sure he was alright. This time, he moved to catch him when he came back down, setting him gently on the ground, and then continuing after his metallic bug pokemon.
Dewott puffed his cheeks out a bit and followed behind the group. He was going to get the hang of this move... one way or another.

Frowning, the man got back to his feet and went back to making his way through the city. He made sure to avoid seeming like he was in a rush. It was bad enough that he didn't know how screwed over he was yet. No need to make himself look any more suspicious than he already was.

Clunk! Rattle! Thunk! Once Felix entered what little cash he had into the machine and pressed the button for the drink he wanted, a bottle of water tumbled out of the machine. The man knelt down and grabbed the bottle, frowning lightly as he noticed that it was not cool to the touch.It can't be helpedhe thought to himself as he shifted his pack around and tucked the water into a side pocket. The right arm was still mostly uncooperative and painful, but at least he could move it some now. Nodding to himself a bit, the man stood up and finished making his way out of the city.

Arriving at the pokecenter, Jacque went ahead and gave all of his pokemon to Nurse Joy, except Scyther. The two went to the PC system, Jacque lightly resting his fingers on the keyboard a moment, then directing to his box, and stepping back. "Ya mind pullin' out tha' Mime Jr. we got, Scy?" he asked, adjusting one of his sleeves and then crossing his arms over his chest. The pokemon was an... uncommon one, from what he knew. Not so much in that it was hard to find-- though honestly, he couldn't think of a region or area to find a Mime Jr off the top of his head-- but in that not a lot of trainers took to it. If one were to have a psychic-fairy type, most would typically pick Ralts. It had a greater evolution chain and variation, and, well... there might have been some aesthetic motives to it as well, but Jay couldn't exactly say much on that.
Still, though, he wanted to see what it was capable of, and it might actually help to have a psychic type around. They could sometimes do telepathy, right? Scizor nodded, moving to the PC, and tapping at the keys to select the psychic-fairy pokemon. He picked up the pokeball-- with much more ease than before he evolved-- and handed it to Jay, who felt the ball a moment, and then released the pokemon inside. Mime Jr looked around, from side to side several times, her arms straight by her side with her little hands pointing out. Then she took a deep breath, held it, and finally-- "MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMEEEE!!!" At the same time, a telepathic blast hit the room. "WHEERREEE'S RAAAALLLTSSSSSS!??!?!?!" JD dropped fast to his knees, clamping his hands over his ears with a grimace, but it didn't lessen the blaring voice in his head. "Agh! DABNABIT! Scy! Get the CONFOUNDED RALTS!" he yelled over the noise. Several of the other patrons were clamping hands over their ears as well, wincing at the blast of sound.
Scy was already at the computer, typing quickly, and tossing the pokeball up the moment he snatched it from the machine, releasing a confused and demurely looking male Ralts. "Mime!Ralts!" The screaming ended instantly, turning to a happy, chiming cry of glee as the pokemon practically flew over and embraced her friend, who turned towards her in quiet surprise. Jay sighed, pushing himself up, rubbing one ear as he slowly shook his head. "That nearly deafened me..." he muttered. Scizor moved over, watching the two, while his trainer seemed to try and recover. Well, this was certainly proving not to be a boring day...

Heaving a heavy sigh, Jacque straightened up, withdrawing his hand from his still slightly ringing ears. He'd never had a pokemon... speak directly into his mind before. Least he was pretty sure he hadn't. He had some faint recollection of it, from when he was a kid, but he was pretty sure that had been a dream. And it was nothing like this. And then the shouting on top of that... He looked at the two pokemon, Mime Jr happily clinging to her friend, and Ralts looking curiously around, and then hugging her back. Well... at least he knew not to split those two up, now. So... what now? Should he just address them? At least one of them was clearly psychic.
"Y'all mind if we move this on outta here? Ah don' think e'rryone much appreciated the shoutin' ya jus' gave 'em," he remarked, frowning with a hand on his hip. The two pokemon looked up, before Mime Jr smiled the biggest smile. It was almost cartoonish. "Sure Jay~!" she chimed. His brow furrowed slightly at the use of his nickname-- well, she was psychic-- before he turned and headed out, his other pokemon following, with Mime Jr dragging her companion Ralts along.
Jacque stepped out, turning towards the two once they were clear of the pokecenter. "Ah gotta go battle thuh gym real quick, alrigh?" he said, reaching back for his pokeball to return Jesse. "Scy, why don' ya take a break too," he added, closing his eyes and returning the Scizor pokemon as well. "Hey! Can you see? Can you see me doing this?" Mime Jr happily piped up, parting from her friend to wave her hand about. Jay frowned, Zoey still squeaking on his shoulder, and bent down, eyes still closed. He reached out-- and snatched her hand, lifting it up and bowing his head a bit. 'Mimey....' It was the first time he'd heard the Ralts speak, and it was purely telepathically, though evidently broadcast to those nearby.
Jacque opened his eyes, looking towards Mime Jr. "Well enough, thank ya. Ah may be blind but ah can still get uh pretty good idear've where things're at." He let go of the pokemon, straightening up and listening around. "Yew two gonna stay out'r d'you want me ta return ya?" he asked, turning his head back towards them slightly. He could feel Quena shifted around in his pocket, before darting out, frowning and listening after her. 'Uhh...' Mime Jr seemed distracted by the fleeing pokemon, but looked back to her newfound trainer, 'We'll stay out!' she decided.
Jay turned his head towards Zoey. "Yew should pro'lly rest a bit, too, Zo," he commented, returning the bat pokemon, and moving to ask someone where the gym was. The two fairy-psychic pokemon following along, with Dewott picking up the rear, watching the duo skeptically. Mime Jr was.... loud....
Once he'd determined where the gym was, Jay headed in that direction.

The three pokemon toddled along behind their trainer. 'So how long have you been doing this?' Mime Jr. asked eagerly. Jay turned his head, out of reflex, even though he could tell she wasn't saying anything-- she was speaking directly, telepathically, into his mind. It was a very... unnerving sensation. "Been doin' what?" he asked back, out loud, again, out of habit. 'Being a trainer! And what's with that funny accent?' she giggled. Ralts made a small mumbling sound and gently pushed his friend, frowning at her. She flailed her arms back at him with an exaggerated 'Whaaaaaaatttttt???' expression, then looked expectantly back towards Jay. "Depends. Ain't been on mah own all that long, but mah family's been lookin' after pok'mon fer a while. Dunno bout the accent... s'same one mah mom and dad got, so ah learned it from them," he replied. Mime Jr thoughtfully seemed to consider this, then, suddenly, spun around to face Dewott.
"You got a problem buddy!?!" she challenged. Dewott blinked, staring at her. "I can here your thoughts, jerk!" she yipped, bouncing. "De. I know," the water pokemon replied simply, going around her, and then jogging over to catch up with Jay, who hadn't bothered to stop once he got the gist of what was going on. Mime Jr blinked, flushing angrily, then turned, taking the sighing Ralts' hand, and running after them.

Jay came to a stop at the gym, leaning over to brush his fingers over the sign, just to confirm it was the right building. He turned back to his pokmon, snapping his fingers a bit to get some echoes off them. "Alrigh', Dewott, 'm not positive what kinda gym this is, but most've thuh first'uns're rock type, so ah'll pro'lly use ya fer most've it, alrigh'?" he asked. Dewott gave a sharp nod and sound of confirmation, and Jay shifted his attention. "Yew two gonna watch?" he asked Mime Jr and Ralts, who both nodded and confirmed telepathically.
Shifting, he turned back towards the gym, but stopped when the skittering of feet reached his ears, Quena scurrying over, trying to scurry up his pants leg, only to fall back down with something heavy in her hands. Jacque turned his head down, then leaned over, picking up the oddly shaped, smooth... stone? It could be a stone, that she was holding. He straightened up, frowning. "Oh hey! I have one of those!" Mime Jr piped up, leaning up to point at the object, "It's called an Eviolite! It boosts defense, but only for pokemon that aren't evolved!" she said. Jay smiled a bit-- Dewott crossed his arms over his chest, frowning, but was snickering inwardly. He was pretty sure there was a remark to be made about not being 'evolved'.
"Huh... Well, thank ya fer the info, Mime Jr... And thank yew, missy, fer gettin' it," he added to Quena, leaning down to pick her up, and place her back in her pocket, "Jus' hope ya didn' steal it. Now c'mon, we gotta get goin." He turned, headin got the gym, and subtly moving Dewott back to his active party as he did.

Jay walked into the gym, but stopped almost instantly. 'It's a bug gym...' Mime Jr observed, looking around with wide eyes. "Yeah... Ah know..." Jay muttered, frowning. 'Huh? How--'"Ah can still hear, 'Mahmee'," Jay replied, tapping his ear, before slowly moving forward. What in the hell kind of... maze was this...
'It's... 'Mimey'... Be careful, Jay...' Mime Jr warned, warily following him. Zoey released herself from her pokeball, apparently picking up on the situation, letting loose a constant serious of supersonics to give him a better echo of the web he had to traverse to get to Viola. He straightened, looking a bit more at ease, and though it took him a while, he climbed on up, reaching back to grab Mime Jr's hand, pulling her, and the subsequently attached Ralts clinging to her hand, up as well, and climbing to his feet.
"All ya gym leaders set up hazards like that fer yer challengers ta traverse?" Jay asked, Zoey landing on his shoulder, her echo giving him a clear indication of a woman standing across the platform from him, who he assumed to be Viola. "That was pretty impressive!" he could hear her remark, still peppy despite his comment, "But it's not really a hazard. There are safety precautions involved. I hope you don't mind, but I took some pictures on your way over." Jacque frowned. ".... Right." He turned as Dewott joined the group, once again, evidently, picking up the rear to keep an eye on their two newest team members. "Yew ready, Dewott?" he asked. The pokemon nodded, stepping forward as the area was transformed into a stage.
"Oh! How cute! That pokemon's not from this region. I hope you don't mind me taking some pictures, but you should probably know, his typing won't be quite as advantageous in this gym!" Viola commented, pulling up her camera, and grabbing Surskit's pokeball to release the pokemon. "Maybe not his typin'..." Jay remarked, flipping open his pokedex and stepping back to his position on the field, "But he's got another pretty handy trick up 'is sleeve. Dewott, use... Fly."

The match was already over, and admittedly Viola felt that she was far more attentive to taking pictures of the Dewott that somehow knew the move Fly. "C'est magnifique! How in the world did your Dewott learn how to Fly?!" Viola was fascinated, not deterred whatsoever by her loss. "Ah, but you've won this battle, so I present to you, the Bug Badge!" Viola announced in a congradulatory fashion, handing over her badge with a flourish. "Oh, and here, this is a gift from me!" Viola gave JD the TM Infestation with a smile. "Now, if you'll excuse-moi, I have some new fantastic photos to develop!~" She babbled happily, turning on a heel and bouncing off to go look through her new photos.

Jay chuckled a bit at Viola's awe, rubbing the back of his neck with a bit of sheepishness, while Dewott looked away with an embarrassed blush. He felt like such a freak show... and he didn't really like all the attention. He wasn't necessarily ashamed, though... just self conscious. "Not'n 'tirely sure, ma'am," he admitted, deciding not to mention the mushroom he'd purchased at the fair. He still wasn't really sure he understood how those things worked, and he didn't want to go conversing over them with such little knowledge. He straightened up, though, nodding in appreciation as she gave him the spoils of his victory.
"Thank ya kindly, Miss Viola," he replied, tipping his hat in gratitude, and taking the badge and TM. He straightened his head as she left, chuckling and shaking his head a bit, then turning to head for the exit. Ralts and Mime Jr were both staring at Dewott, who stiffened at the stares. He looked back at them, leaning away a moment, looking ready to mutter something, then just hunched his shoulders and quickly stalked past them, well aware of what had earned such reactions. "How did you DO that!" Mime Jr exclaimed, running after him, Ralts scrambling to run after her, nearly tripping before jumping onto her back to hold on. It barely even slowed her down.
"I didn't. Go away," Dewott muttered, looking down at her in annoyance, leaning away as she caught up. The psychic-fairy scrunched up her face, concentrating, then sending a blast of psychic power at him, knocking the water pokemon off his feet. "Don't LIE!" she demanded, stomping her foot on the ground. "Mimey doesn't like liars..." Ralts added from over her shoulder. Dewott scowled, pushing to his feet, looking ready to attack. "Hey." All three looked over as Jay's voice sharply cut through the scene, their trainer's head turned enough to see the frown and increasingly angry expression on his face. "Knock't off. Mahm Jr, ya so much as psychically push Dewott again, 'n ah'll give 'em full permission ta use any'n all steel attacks on ya. Don' attack my team," he ordered, turning towards them.
Dewott blinked, still frowning, then looked at Mime Jr, who was a bit red- redder than usual- and puffing in frustration. She gave a nod, though, then added, 'Yes sir...' telepathically. Jay straightened, turning, and heading towards the pokecenter. "C'mon Dewott, le's getcha healed up," he stated, "Ye've more'n earned a good rest'n a good meal."

While Mime Jr still seemed to be fuming over getting chided by Jay, and Dewott's dismissal of her question, Ralts slid off her back, falling into pace between the two while they all trooped after Jay. '... How did you do that...' the small psychic-fairy pokemon asked, a hand by his mouth as he seemed to peer over at Dewott. The water pokemon shifted, giving a half annoyed, half uncomfortable look at the pokemon, then shrugging and looking away. "I... I don't know," he muttered, vaguely aware of Jay turning his head to listen back towards them. Not that he could likely understand what they were saying. "Jay gave me this... mushroom thing a little bit ago. I ate it and..." He trailed off, staring at the ground with a furrowed brow.
'It taught you to fly...?' Ralts asked in awe. "I guess..." Dewott muttered, reaching up to rub at the back of his neck with one paw, evading his gaze to the side. When were they going to reach the stupid pokecenter...
