With renewed vigor he swung the pick harder, and glossed over the fact he was only getting stone. He could use it, and had plans to use it even. Maybe the begining quests in the area had a stone mason that he could start to learn the basics of at least wall making down. Dagron could even make this crappy cave his castle, despite the blasted spiders. Guard spiders. That's it. An army of guard spiders to do his bidding, feeding players to them and forcing the local mobs to level beyond reason. Maybe, just maybe this insane idea might just work.

That was probaby the dumbest idea Dagron has ever had in his history of gaming. Or the best. This beta is the most open and free thing he has felt like he's ever done with his life, and he even played the damned beta for WoW 3: Marketing trash sellout fun time. Maybe that was the charm and merit of this perticular MMO. Hyper realism, perma-death, the fact that noncombat skills can potentially break a game to this extreme of an extent, and Dagron was ready to strap in for the full thing if he could manage to do half of the garbage his mind was attempting to form.

More of this glorious stone for his panultimate castle of ********, owned by king Dagron the cornerstone of the first floor economy. Lord of the Noobs. Destroyer of any chance to advance past the first floor with more than ten gold to your name and No god damn chance at having fun on this server with the giant spider army of hell no. If this all could work out, Dagron could single handedly destroy this game and make it his personal playing field. At the same time how shitty would that be to the developers? Some random beta tester coming into your game day one and completely obliterating any chance of a valid economy, with an army of mobs at his command? He could be banned for this. This is something that he would be willing to be banned for. Think of that pickup line. "Hey, you know Alice Online? Yeah, I'm the one who broke the game and am officially not allowed to even legally bring up that name in a public place, but for you? I'd make an acception." Insert some more crap about jail blah blah legal struggle and boom, He could have anyone he wanted. He may even be able to land a b-list celebrity with this story, Not only game famous, but he could be a star out in the open. There is solidly one thing this game could do for Dagron, and the only thing that could be is destroy his life.

This VR gaming idea might not be a great idea. This link crap may be messing with his head, Mining is really getting to him and he's not even actually doing anything. A virtual version of himself was hitting a rock, for what he can assume has at least been an hour, at least. God how long has it been? Where's the clock on this blasted HUD? There's really no point in stopping though untill he manages to finish this stupid quest. Last time he accepts a mining quest so readily. "Maybe before I say yes to a quest, I'll make sure that the mat's they need aren't harder to find than Minecraft diamonds!" Maybe it was time to take a break and find something to destroy with his bare hands, or his shiny new bow.

The Player was no more than an ordinary guy. He lived a fairly ordinary life, had an ordinary job, but made through with massive amounts of creativity and wit. The price of this was his love affair with gaming of all kinds, and when he found an mmo he liked, he usually stuck with it for a while. He returned home from a fairly terrible day at work, sloughing off his work gear into more comfy attire, and grabbing a soda from the pack. He sat down, fired up youtube to random music from his favorites to chill out to and forget the world, when he started nonchalantly sifting through E-mail. Then he saw it. His application to the new gen MMO, ALICE Online, was accepted. He nearly leapt out of his seat, and immediately downloaded the game. It took a few hours, but the plans were all ruminating in his head of what to do.
The time came.
Create Username: Rota Create Password:************
He was in. The character creator stood before him like a blank canvas from which to craft a masterpiece...and he was drawing a blank. This had never happened before. How was it, that he couldn't think of a single character to make out of his vast library? Then it hit him, and there was only one thing to do. He began making adjustments to his character for what felt like seconds, but moved like hours until the avatar stared at his operator through the other side of the screen with his crimson irises and scarlet pupils. He picked the weapon style he would use, and all that was left was the name.
Rota Emptiet Abyssian (Rota for short) stood at the entrance to Gloomwood, shouldering his two handed straight sword on his right shoulder, his sharp teeth bared in a cocky smirk. He had heard stories in his village about this accursed place, but he believed he could fend off whatever threat lied ahead of him. Rather than explore the village at the safe end of the wood, he decided to take the initiative and forage off into the wood first, deciding to face whatever wildlife decided to rear its ugly head.

He may not be the most naturally talented player, but he was definitely a force to be reckoned with going by nothing more than his insane stats. These boars were not even really a threat any longer, so he definitely needed more of a challenge. He supposed that going into the dungeon would provide that challenge, if he wasn't dangerously overleveled for that area, too. If so, it would be interesting to explore that area. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he heft the pickaxe back into the stone in front of him. His muscles would normaly be tired by now but it's not like he could really feel anything he did here. Great thing about VR games is that the players could push limits beyond anything they normally are capable of. You would always see media about this stuff, particularly popular ones about death games and no logging out, But this was the real world. No way would anyone be able to get away with doing something so insane and convoluted as that! Let alone the idea of microwaving brains through whatever technology the VR systems used for their controll mechanisms.

More stone! There must be a better place to find charcoal. Maybe Dagron could burn down half the forest and collect the remains of the trees. Make actual charcoal, rather than the coal that existed in the rocks. These stupid RNG's were killing him. How is coal the hardest mineral to find? WHY is it the hardest mineral to find? Clearly the only real option he had was to completely obliterate this cave till his mining skill reached a high enough level to get coal every strike. Pausing for a moment, Dagron hoped he would have the coal by then, if not he'd have to pick a new profession. Masonry maybe. Trees seem in abundance so woodworking isn't a terrible idea. But this quest needed to be done! He couldn't just pass it by. It would haunt his dreams and torment him, one simple quest, just to gather coal.

Another piece, slowly crawling to the 5 coal he needed. Tucking the black gold away carefully in the corner of his bag, he returned to the monotonos business at hand. Wouldn't continuing on this mining turn into something glorious though? Maybe he could join up with some other beta testers and produce weapons and armor for them, then set up shop for others, get his name put out there and become a face in the beta. Nobody said this game was all about combat. Clearly with this well hammered out gathering system, the crafting had to be stupendous. Maybe this stupid mining quest would lead to something amazing. With renewed vigor he stuck the rock and awaited the cursed coal.

What was he thinking? Why couldn't he just progress through the game in the manner he was doing now? It seemed like he could make an actual living just doing this, and he said himself just a while ago he could make a name making armor and weapons, so why not on selling materials and masonry? All in all it wasn't a horrible idea, no risk of death as long as he found a way to defend himself. Like always combat is always a nessecity, likely because pvp is always a thing in mmo's. It's fun, but not in a hardcore game where you can lose everything you've been working towards for however many hours of play. Dagron could probably set up shop on the bottom floor, and then travel along with PvE players after people unlocked the next floor. And what says he has to do combat, there's probably a way that he could develop viable combat healing and rent out his services as well.

Maybe he could just sell the stone. Masonry couldn't possibly require the amount of stone and he could probably make a decent fare off of his already abundant stone source. The way it looked by the end of this he could have over a hundered stone, simply from trying to get this coal. Dagron took a moment to recollect his thoughts. He didn't join a beta to only do crafting. If he was going to do that he would just go play Guild Wars or some free to play mmo that listened to it's players. This game was for combat and he would be damned if he just spent all of his beta time making houses and weapons. That means that he would have to go out and find a party, because everyone knows that mmo's aren't any fun on your own.
