Another day had passed since Mykanos had ventured into town to see what all the hub-bub was about, in terms of the festival that was booming and thriving. It'd been quite the trek, going back and forth from home in the mountains, to the busy civilization... very much like going between two different worlds, it felt like. As usual, he earned the typical stares while making his way to the designated meeting spot for the parade, but he didn't give them much mind, only staring down a few individuals who seemed to be staring a little too hard.... but even they simply got a rather disinterested and blank expression. The staring didn't really bother him, he just didn't understand the reasoning for it. Was he that odd looking here? maybe there was something on his face... in an idle motion, a hand did brush along his jaw as if trying to wipe something that wasn't there off.
Reaching the meeting spot, his eyes started scanning around instantly to try and find those who might be of his same situation; manning security. It was a simple enough job that even he could do it without feeling out of place, or useless. Just keeping people at bay. Sure thing. No problem. In his search for fellow security members, noting plenty of people taking care of other tasks, he did notice Elliot who didn't seemed to have his hands full with anything. Maybe him...? it wasn't in Mykanos' nature to approach others like this, but... he'd managed to have a successful interaction at least once so far here. Muscles tensing briefly, he took a inhale for courage, before advancing before the pink haired lad.
But even the approach was probably a bit awkward, the way he slowly, but very obviously made his way over to Elliot, hands running down to hide into his pockets, eyes trailing from the ground, to the sides, and very rarely peeking up at Elliot once close enough. Giving a weighted pause, he finally spoke up, "you in... security..?" he asked in a sort of mutter, deep voice calm but audible.

He'd have felt awful if she'd thought he meant anything poorly by it. He more meant once they were stressed up with the full attire anyway. Seeing her fling the bundles in, he was oblivious as too why she was suddenly flustered. "You ok..?" Alec hopped out of the cart that was now dust free thanks to her swift actions. Grabbing up an armful of flowers, tossing them over the wagon copying her. Set on his task to fill the wagon as quickly as he could let go, and grab more. "Well that works better yea duh." He laughed, agreeing with her. Once all the bundles were up and out of the way, he reached up adjusting a few. "There!" He exclaimed, beaming at their handy work thus far. It actually looked pretty good, he thought so anyway. Taking a step back he rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Good thinking Shankuntala." he moved over to one of the ox, giving the beast a gentle pat. "So; just these guys, decorations drive the cart to make sure its not going to drag..and I think were good?" Alec looked unsure glancing at the copper-skinned girl. NaomiNaomi c: if you wanna skim over our other duties feel free to push alec which ever direction since i'll be asleep, otherwise i'll get back to you tag wise. Night!

Shakuntala hopped down from the cart and landed with a dusty thump to the floor below. Casting her eyes over to the oxen, she approached them after Alec.
Without taking her eyes off of the hoofed quadruped, she replied, "Y-Yep, we just have to... get these guys decorated and, er, tested..."
Unlike horses, the seventeen year old didn't seem too excited when it came to the bovines. The one she stood before seemed to stare right through with its soulless eyes before its tongue snaked out and liked the underside of its left nostril. Shakuntala winced at it, but didn't want to jump to conclusions, and extended a hand out to it to see how friendly it'd be.
The ox, confusing a few petals stuck to her sleeve as a sign of food, immediately opened its mouth and clamped its leveled teeth in the middle of her wrist. A single moment of silence interrupted the area between Shakuntala and the ox before she bellowed loud from fright and pain.
It was going to eat her alive. She was positive of it.
leon_a_darkangel All righty. I'll just tag up since I'm not sure what to do next, aha. |D

At her hand being licked, and all but consumed Alec gave a small squawk of disapproval at the beasts trying to eat his new friends hand. "Ahhh noo! Don't do that please?!" He asked of the bovine, helping her get her hand back, realizing it was likely hungry and trotted off to fetch them feed so they'd be easier to work with...and less likely to eat random Tala digits. He was about to say something else, maybe ask her how does one even decorate a ox of all things when a man came running up to the two youngests, clearly out of breathe and panting wildly. "Y..you two. Were you the ones with Drakon yesterday?!" he looked between them, the older fellow looking panicked. "Please..can either of you ride. Please tell me you can." he leaned over touching his knees as he tried to catch his breathe. I"lI need two someones for tomorrows show..my damn riders are sick at home 'n my mare 'n steed gotta walk." They could practice now if they wanted for all he cared, so long as they wouldn't fall off the damn horses and make his namesake look stupid. Alec blinked, looking between Tala and the man. It was about now Alec's mother had shown back up and cast a look between the present parties listening in. "I..I have to be able to have my horses walk. I been workin' so damn hard to be ready 'n time..You can ride them now if ya want, they are stabled over by my stall." he patted at his forehead with a cloth from his pocket. He had to be desperate to be begging two kids. It was then the older red head had an idea. "Children, I can finish up here if you want to see if you can be any help?" The older woman stated, her green eyes gleaming with wonder. NaomiNaomi rofl I got you no worries. I hope that helped?

Zin arrived at the parade grounds the next day clad, once again, in full uniform. She had received her assignment and was ready to perform her duty. It seemed that, for the most part, she just had to keep an eye out for trouble. So that meant that she could still find and talk to Lenore! Zin stood by the waterside so that she could redirect anyone who came too close. It seemed that the volunteers knew they weren't supposed to go there, so it was a pretty slow job. Shoot, I should have discussed with Lenore where we'd meet up today, she realized regretfully.

The (middle aged, not THAT old!) lady stared at Danny, and then laughed, putting a hand on her shoulder. "I'm not the one you have to see, dearie. It's the trainee out front!" When asked, Lloren scanned the list for Danny Fitzergald. Ox-carts [X] Criteria: Looks representative of farmers Song and dance [X] Criteria: Danced consistently, would look good in uniform Decorated barge [X] Criteria: Made it to the end of the circuit without notable exhaustion Costume Parade [X] Criteria: None, any will do. "You can sign up for anything. Ox-carts, song and dance, decorated barge or the costume parade!"

Blade Kuroda Day 2After drinking his second cup of water, Shun finally went on over towards the trainee. "Oi. Where am I being put? I'm technically a trainee now but I don't have a uniform yet. Can't play anything either so probably should avoid the marching band unless you want things to sound like s**t." With so many people about calling out his name, it was difficult not to know Shun's. Lloren found his name and the judges' verdict. Lloren had in fact completely forgotten his eavesdropping on Preacher yesterday. She even went so far as to give him a thumbs up. "Sure, just wait a moment... naaaame..." Her thumb went down, then up again on the sheet of paper. She looked between it and Axel back and forth a couple times. "Axel, right?" Picking an assignment --> Day 3"I'll take the barges," Axel said. It seemed like the least desirable job available. To him it sounded slightly better than throwing flower petals or prancing around in a ridiculous costume, but it would be hot and hard and boring, and he figured that most of the parade goers would avoid it. ---- When Axel dutifully reported for work at the barges, there was already a small crowd. It seemed like more people had taken on security detail. At least, he saw a good handful of armbanded folk wandering here and there. There was only one familiar face at the barges, though. It was the noble-looking fellow who had fallen while dragging his bag of dirt. He joined the group in time to hear the noble guy talking about plugging leaks. Axel looked at the barge. It looked creaky, heavy, and dirty. He couldn't imagine what the infinitely more polished young man next to him was doing. "I guess we could plug the leaks with spare costumes," he said. "Or rags or something."Axel was clean, or at least as clean as a lower-middle class person from Shiganshina could reasonably get, but he was certainly not dressed as finely as the young nobleman. His brows knit, still puzzling over what the fellow was doing. If he hadn't seen him go sprawling in the dirt, Axel would think he was in charge of overseeing the barge operation. "I'm Axel, by the way. I didn't hear your name yesterday. You're going to be working on the barges...?" He trailed off into a question

Day 2 -> Day 3Saga was growing on Preacher. Well... growing much in the same manner black mold continued to grow in the corners of house no matter how many times it was scrubbed away. It may not be pleasant, but it was inexorable. She looked him over with a criotical gleam in her yellow eyes. In doing so, she noticed he actually did possess muscles - they had just been hiding under a layer of pudge. He was like a bear that, having woken from hibernation, still bore the fat of sleeping. Maybe a circus bear, she amended, taking in his clothing. Regardless, she admitted reluctantly, he was impressive. If he kept his mouth shut. At Saga's next words, she startled in surprise, then grimaced as her ribs twinged in protest. Dancing had been an awful idea, really. Her mind snapped back to the question at hand. The military? It wasn't somewhere she had ever considered. Most people, military recruits included, looked at her as less than them For the military, she would need someone to say she could join, and who would ever do that? She was only a slum brat. Plus, the military would be trading Tinker, the evil she knew, for an unknown. The only advantage would be the meals. In any event, someone like her didn't belong in the military with their glittering uniforms and shining ideals. She would never be accepted. "Hah! The military? Someone from the Eastern Alleyway like me could never join. You're daft! I dun belong in such a place. There are certain limitations, ye ken? It ain't, it can't be fer me." She swept her hand to the side, as if brushing the idea of military service from the conversation. But Saga's ridiculous story made her laugh. Laughed, and then immediately groaned in pain and clutched her side. "You are tha biggest ********' liar I ever met! Wolfmen?!" She punched him in the arm. --------------------- day 3 So, security detail meant checking up on other workers. It sounded hellishly boring, to be honest. She looked around briefly, breathing a sigh of relief that the brilliantly colored Saga was nowhere to be seen. Earlier, Preacher had glanced at the list of assignments and noted curiously that Axel had declined security. Preacher must be a glutton for punishment, or a masochist, she mused, for her feet had her strolling right up to the barges. Ah, there he was. It was petty, but Preacher never turned down a good opportunity for harrassment. "Oi! No slacking off, you layabout!" Mythee if you don't wanna write more day 2 saga, just assume Preacher wandered off after that xDD

Axel didn't have much of a chance to chat with the other people working on the barge before someone shouted at him. It was a horrible voice, a voice that grated on his nerves like a handsaw on a piece of cheese. He spun, facing the younger boy who seemed to have a severe hate-on for him. He should probably just continue ignoring Preacher, as he had during the volunteer assessment thing, but that was difficult to do with Preacher standing there yelling at him. "Shoo," Axel said irritably. "If you're looking for your fancy marshal boyfriend, he's not here." The rest of the people working on the barge (with the major exception of the rich guy nearby) didn't look like they had anything worth pickpocketing, but Axel decided not to jab Preacher about that. He still felt guilty for eavesdropping on the orphan the other day.

Lenore hung her head as best she could in the costume the manager had supplied her as she walked through the parade grounds. She should have known he would find a work around to the fact that she wouldn't be able to carry around an advertisement. "This is so embarrassing."The girl was dressed as a twelve year old girl sized book. The cover read 'Trost Bookstores', so the manager could still get the word out without technically breaking any rules. Lenore just felt incredibly stupid. She momentarily thought about just taking the costume off and ditching the parade, but she knew the manager would be watching the parade to make sure she was in it. She sighed.

Zin remembered that Lenore had signed up for the costumed portion of the parade, so she kept her eyes peeled for people carrying or wearing costumes. The only problem was that many of the costumes were so extravagant that she couldn't tell who was inside them. She looked around and read Trost Bookstores walking slowly in her direction. What was that supposed to be? A giant book costume? Zin's eyes drifted down slowly, and she spotted Lenore's face poking out. She had to slam a hand over her mouth to suppress a laughing fit, but a loud snort still escaped. She raised her other hand to wave Lenore over.
