Quote: I think we should alternate between Beyond the Box and Writer's Aide from month to month. Alternating is a good idea, but I'm not sure if consistenly doing Writer's Aide would be. My reasons for this are 1) there's a whole cajuble of good links and tips in one of the stickies in the WF already and 2) Finding websites and giving tips may be a challenge, considering none of us here actually have a lot of real life writing experience. Other than that, sounds good! We should have things that fluctuate. Random things that aren't consistent in each issue. We could do like, interesting facts or moments in history (funny/dumb moments or something). The tech monkeys can give tips even. Just generate a bunch of ideas and jot them down somewhere. And just because I'm studying the French Revolution and can... Interesting Fact: You're actually conscious of what's going on around you 8 or so seconds after your head is chopped off. Moment in history: King Louis XVI of France once tried to flee Paris with his family. They were dressed as peasants in a golden carriage with armed guards protecting them. The King rode up front as the coach, thinking no one would recognize him when his face was engraved on every coin in the country.

Yeah, good point! Can I ask you a favor? Hehe, if you're still recovering from heading the writing project, then I totally understand -- no need to volunteer! Although, it would interesting to see you put together a list of interesting facts in history for the next issue. We can group them by category, you know? The good, the bad, and the funny -- though preferrably something more creative than those, lol! Also, we should brainstorm more ideas for the "fluctuating" sections that'll alternate with Beyond the Box. PS: Kudos to you, I've decided that getting one's head chopped off is perhaps the worst way to die! Argh. eek

Quote: PS: Kudos to you, I've decided that getting one's head chopped off is perhaps the worst way to die! Argh. eek Actually, those who died at the guillotine said it didn't hurt, though it was more like signalled. No vocal cords, you know? It's the method of execution that my history teacher said she would prefer. xd I'm learning a lot in that class. And yes, doing a history section sounds nice. ^^ More planning though. Should it be on a specific time period/county? Or just facts in general?

The shitty part is that I can't experince that without dying. Why must all the intriguing things require you to die. It isn't fair I say!
Here's and interesting fact, well more of a bumper sticker actually.
"Patton was right!"
(He predicted the cold war, and the Germany offensive for the battle of the Buldge. He also could have beaten the Russians to Berlin, but we were stupid enough to go with Monty's market garden campaign, which was a screw up. That and he had the most kickass inflatiable army ever assembled. Single handedly he took on a majority of the german army on D-day.)
Honestly, I can't wait till I can take some more specific history classes. I'm tired of these stupid ******** overview phamplet classes we have in Highschool. What's worse, our US history book is the exact same book (well a more current edition, this one has the 9/11 chapter in it.) than the one we had in eight grade.

That is sad. I haven't taken US history yet. ^^ World history is a ton of fun though. Learn all kinds of things, and the teacher's cool too. She has a wooden guillotine and an iron maiden in her room. Some senior students made them for her.
And she says the funniest things! Like, she'll call on someone and say "Tell all these humans in this room what happened at such and such date." or "Sit down you communist."
I heart that class.

@ Ser: Now I am harangued by the incredible need to send someone to a guillotine then moon in their faces immediatele after....
@ Jaho: Liking the politically driven idea.
@ Alice: Nice schedule.
In my entire life, only one history ever made school worth goign to. He stayed as far away from the textbook as possible, showed us tapings from the indie-news, udnerground documentaries that show secretly captured videos of what happens in sweat shops...and his main goal was to drill in us that capitalism controls our lives.
Oh, and his motto "Question everything, but ask the right questions."

By the way, Alice, I took advantage of the PMs being up by sending a thank you PM to the authors of the submissions and links in the Neighborhood Watch. I included a link to the Press thread. In case you're curios what the PMs looked like: "Greetings, This is Kraeela, Writer and provisional PR representative for the Gaia Press. It is my pleasure to inform you that your poem/thread/piece, [insert thread/poem/piece name] , has been included in the Gaia Press Issue 2.0 published March 22, 2005 in the Writer's Forum. We thank you for allowing us to use your piece, one that definitely contributes to our high standards of creativity, appeal and masterful use of the language. [<== duh, that's not included for links] Good luck and may the Gaian Gods bless you with a high Post Count, Kraeela The Gaia Press"

I did the same thing. sweatdrop I guess we're just too efficient here at the 'zine, lol! I hope they don't feel too spammed! xp Nevertheless, if you're willing to do this again for the next issue, then I would greatly appreciate it! wink Just let me know ahead of time, so I can send the Best of Issue banner to you for the winner.

Someone give me something to do!
I need to be spoon-fed, as I've not developed motor skills.
...I mean, as I don't know what I need to be doing right now. I don't even care what it is, I'll critique a whole pile of stories (not poetry, I don't know a thing about it), if you so desire.

Your job, is to find the Holy Grail. Along the way you must write wonderful segements about where you are. It will be entitled, "Who Cares Where Zacharra Is?" And it will be an ovious rip off of Where in The World is Matt Lauer.

Hallooo there Zach!
Well, we're in a bit of a lull, a nice vegetative respite for the while. The day after publication....yep, we need a break.
Though you could start scouting for pieces that look like they might be good for the next edition, or write up an article/story of your own, or dream up a new project we could work on as a staff.....or join us in our very momentary and fleeting state of inactivity. If I know Alice, she'll have us working on something in no time.
