Zoje watched the smoke screen and waited for it to locate Jay. After a moment an image of a small tent appeared.There was a firgure laying on the bed. Zoje whistled and the figure rolled over to face the smoke screen emmiting from his own pendant. Jay smiled and sat up "Hey mom. Hows it goin."

Zoje smiled "Hello Jay. Im fine. Im calling cause I want you to meet someone. This is Ovan Maxwell." she said motioning to the man sitting beside her.

Jay smiled "You got a boyfriend mom?" he asked raising an eyebrow.

Zoje smiled back at him "Well, actually..."

Jay rolled his eyes "You engaged arent you. You know you suck at keeping secrets from me mom. Im too much like you." He turned to Ovan and ran hisfingers through his, just like his mother always did. "So future dad, can you speak or is my bed head as terrifying as Im told?"

Jay grinned "Make sure you dont get caught up too far in her world, it turns a man insane, I mean look at me for instance. Im off in the middle of no where eating stale food and wearing three pairs of underwear."

Zoje laughed and looked at Jay. "I dont suppose your going to tell me where you are, besides complaining abou thte cold."

Jay winked at his mother "Aw, mom, you know I cant do that. Its confidential. I mean, no one at all knows where the battle front is. All the smoke and battle sounds dont give it away at all."

Jay scratched his chin. "I dont know, you see Im really important. In fact Im so important Ive havent seen battle since i signed up two years ago." he smiled "Although, Commander Jenkins does have a thing for mom..."

Zoje smiled "Tell him I say please."

Jay chuckled "Ill ask him soon as he comes back from wherever it is battle crazed knuckleheads go off to when there isnt an enemy soldier to kill. Anyway, so how did you two meet?" he asked looking at Ovan trying to decide if this was a good person for his mother.

Jay was about to say something back when a shout from outside his tent proclaimed "Lieutenant Hathens you get your sorry a** out here right this instant!" Jay rolled his eyes and a big burly man with a graying beard stepped into the tent. He glared at Jay and was about to continue yelling when he saw who Jay was talking too. His face redened and he ran his hand over his hair to smooth it down "Oh, hello Zoje how are you today?"

Zoje smiled and fought the urge to laugh. "Hello Commander Jenkins. Im fine."

Jenkins smiled sheepishly and turned to Ovan "And who mightyou be?"

Jay, who had more practice forcing down laughter around his commander cleared his throat "You wanted me for soemthing sir?" Jenkins blinked "Oh, oh yes. Well, it can wait till after your done talking to your mother and" he shot a dirty look at Ovan "Her friend."

Zoje smiled and batted her eyes "actually commander I was wondering if I might borrow Jay for a week or two if you dont mind."

Jenkins face flushed "Why of course! Keep your wonderful son as long as you like. Ill put the paper work in right away." he shambled out of the tent." Jay waited until he had time to walk awaya bit before he burst out laughing, followed close by zoje.

Zoje smiled and squeezed his hand "Im sure you could Ovan."

Jay nodded his agreement "Oh ya of course! Jenkins isnt nearly as tough as big sword and huge muscles show him to be." He smiled "So I guess Ill be seeing you guys in a few days? wonder if
volrath is still mad at me for setting his shirt on fire..." he shrugged "Whatever. I cant wait to get back home."

Zoje laughed "Oh hes not mad, he only mentions it once every couple of hours. See you when you get here Jay. Love you son."

Jay smiled. He liked this Ovan person alot. "Right then. Later mom and, Ovan."

Zoje smiled and brought in the smoke screen. "He so much like me its scary sometimes." she said shaking her head.
