Earendil chuckled and patted Miyuki on the head. "Yes, yes, the horses," he grinned. "Come on, this way."
He led Lin and Miyuki over to the next stable, which had several dozen horses in stalls. There were whites, blacks, and all colours of browns, and they were all standing quietly in their stalls, some of them munching on their hay and oats, and others watching skittishly as the group approached.

They were all very different unlike the unicorns Miyuki decided. They were also quite as far as she could tell.
"They're colourful," she finally stated.
Since that was what caught her attention the most.

"They are indeed," Earendil smiled. "And you can go ahead and touch them, just move slowly and don't run."
He let go of Miyuki's hand and stood back to watch. He grinned at Lin, then looked back at Miyuki.

She thought it was going to be like last time and was surprised when her Daddy let her hand go to let her go pet the creatures herself. Miyuki padded over slowly towards the horses and looked up.
"Touch?"

The horses ignored Miyuki, snorting softly when she came closer. A few of them blew out through their nostrils, some of their ears flicked back and forth; one of them stomped a hoof on the ground: but other than that it was silent.

Miyuki didn't understand them, or maybe she had just been spoiled by the unicorns.
"No touch?"
She tried to get closer and hold a hand out to one of them. She liked one of the bay horses.
"I think Miyuki is too use to being around really intelligent creatures," Lin murmured thoughtfully.

Earendil chuckled softly and smiled down at Lin. "I think so," he murmured, amused. "I can't help but wonder how this is going to go. She tends to get frustrated somewhat easily."
The horse reached out tentatively and sniffed at Miyuki's hand, then rubbed its nose against her palm.
"Open your hand all the way," Earendil called to Miyuki. "It might bite otherwise."

Spreading her fingers wide, Miyuki opened up her hand and began to pet the horse gently.
"Pretty and soft...." she murmured.
She liked touching soft things, and the horse's fur was soft.
"As long as she doesn't get a temper, they maybe short and quick, but they're not pleasant..."

The horse's nose was like velvet, one of the softest things in the world, and it snorted softly as Miyuki stroked its nose. It was a snort of pleasure and affection, and it pressed into her touch.
Earendil chuckled softly. "Like when she got angry with Amalirahc for crushing her snow pile?" he quipped.

Miyuki giggled, this was different from petting a unicorn, but the a horse seemed much more friendly. Even if they didn't seem to want to talk to her.
Lin had to sigh at that, "Yes... I should be grateful though, she doesn't throw tempers over things she cannot get, and doesn't get down on the floor kicking and screaming."
It was just Miyuki seemed vicious when she wanted to get back at a person.
"I just have to worry about her getting back at people for whatever reason my mind can't follow until long after it happens. I've been trying to teach her to ignore people who upset her. I'm hoping it's just impulsiveness so ignoring will give her time to cool down."

The horse brushed its lip against Miyuki's palm as if searching for food, and it blew out through its nostrils when it didn't find anything to eat.
Earendil smiled down at Lin. "Well, it seems like you're doing a good job, so far at least. I mean, I haven't seen her be vindictive yet ... though I'm not sure if she's had reason in the hour since you've arrived. But still. It's something that we can work on together."

"We left Kaito and her alone together for a while, I think not hearing anything enough success for now."
She looked at him, knowing he couldn't understand why she had such issues leaving the two alone.
"I know that doesn't make much sense but I am telling you, leaving Kaito alone with a child her age for long periods of time isn't wise. He's responsible, but he's too catty, and with Miyuki easily frustrated that worries me."
She also understood that both Kaito, Ura and Shiro shared one other thing in common. They could be too blunt for their own good, which really wasn't good for child dealing.
Miyuki pulled back and giggled, "That tickles!"
She patted it again not aware it was looking for food.

"Then we'll just have to wait and see what Miyuki does on the voyage," Earendil smiled softly, watching the child as she interacted with the horse. "See if she somehow gets back at him for something."
The horse decided that it wasn't going to be getting anything from Miyuki and turned away from her, retreating deeper into its stall.

"Hey!" Miyuki looked over her shoulder to where her Mummi and Ada were talking, "Horse walked away!"
She didn't understand why, it didn't even say good bye.
"It probably didn't want to be petted anymore," Lin replied.
"Why didn't it say so?"

"Because horses can't talk," Earendil chuckled, stepping forward and standing next to her. He put one hand on her shoulder. "Horses don't have intelligence like unicorns do, they can't speak, they can't reason, they don't understand us when we speak. They're a very different creature."
