The ocean spray spritzed Erebus' face as he walked along the shoreline, his thoughts following the same meandering path of his footsteps, already fading behind him as they were washed away by the surf. He was deep in thoughts, but his thoughts were shallow, hardly extending past what someone would consider a daydream. Erebus called this state of mind his workshop. It allowed him to think, to be creative, imagining places and things that couldn't possibly exist, and superimposing them on the real world.
As the waves laped at his feet, coming higher and higher with the tide, something interrupted Erebus' thinking. He wasn't exactly sure what, but something. Carefully, he looked around the beach, trying to identify the source of the disruption. After a moment, he saw what it was. There, by the rocks. There was a flash of some sort, like the sun reflecting off of a piece of glass. Curious, Erebus decided to check it out.
A minute later, Erebus found the source of the reflection. There was a man standing near two boulders, staring out into the ocean. In his hand was a sword that looked like it was made out of black glass. Curious. Curious indeed.
Looking at the boulders, Erebus noticed something strange. It looked like they weren't actually two boulders, but one that had been split in half. Cleanly in half, ignoring the fault and vein lines that surely criss crossed the inside of the former monolith. He looked from the man to the boulders and back again. Had he cut it in half? Only one way to find out. Erebus called out to the man. "Excuse me, sir?"
