No, no...they're right..we are stupid...Comparing our education to other developed countries' education, we are pretty retarded. It makes meh sad.
Well technically speaking, intelligence has nothing to do with education.
Intelligence- the ability to learn, understand, and reason.

Education-the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.

To say about general education and intelligence, I see that they are well related. Without education, how could you be intelligent? When a baby is born, he is not automatically knowledgeable of everything. Acquiring an education acquires intelligence, does it not? So, comparing a person that has have some schooling background to another people that doesn't have any, wouldn't the one with schooling more likely to be more intelligent.

Because of your ambiguous reply, it took long, excruciating minutes to figure out your post...then, I typed many refutes, but finally realized your statement could mean many things. I tried to keep my answer safe as possible, but i know I'm still gonna be hit in the face for this...b*****d.
lol I like you, so I'll take it easy. wink

Exactly. How is that ability gained in education? We're born with the ability to learn. Otherwise, education wouldn't do us much good, would it? We don't learn to learn. That's irrational. : P
Kinda reminds me of the "you will boil me in a pot" joke. XD

Mhm. I'm not sure how you came to equate knowledge with the ability to reason. I fail to see the connection. The ability to learn and reason, of course comes in handy, when gaining knowledge, but they're hardly co-dependent. You don't have to be able to reason, to memorize words in a textbook. If Albert Einstein had a parrot (metaphorically speaking, I'm sure he has many, which in fact, is kind of the point xd ), would the bird be more intelligent than you and I?

You're confusing knowledge with intelligence. And aside from that, one doesn't necessarily need education to be knowledgeable any more than one necessarily becomes knowledgeable upon receiving an education. : P

Then why is it, that there are stupid people with college degrees? : P

Bella_May has had more schooling than I. Does she strike you as more intelligent? xd

Thank you. ^_^ Everyone uses b*****d as a strictly male term. I always wanted to be called a b*****d. It's one of my favorite words. 4laugh

1.Okay. What I meant was that education increases your intelligence i.e. your ability to understand, reason, and learn. Your ability to learn is broadened by education giving you the ability to learn more. Therefore we do learn to learn. If you don't learn to learn, then what is your reasoning and motives behind learning?
2. The ability to reason is improved through education in a certain subject. For example, a child who has no experience in Geometry wouldn't know what the measure of the angle created by a right triangle is.However, if another person, who was educated and was taught this subject, was told to give the angle measure of a right triangle, he could easily answers 90 degrees because of his enhanced ability to reason.
3. Okay, you win this time...damn skank...
4. Because there is cheating, bribery, etc. Even still, doesn't the student become more intelligent in cheating?
5. more likely... lol ( wait....Bella is probably like 13-15.That means you should have dropped out of highschool before that., but most states won't allow kids to drop out til they're 16...lies!)

Well if you compare a person that has some schooling to another that doesn't have any might just show that the one in school is more booksmart, but the other maybe be and usually is smarter in knowing about people and...life maybe? o_O well , in my experience, I'm in school and I'm good when it comes to book, but when it comes to people talking and such I just don't know what to do a lot of the time. I'm not socially smart, but i call talk about what we do in AP Bio all day x3 There are different forms of intelligence.

Also, you mentioned how a baby when a baby is born he's not automatically knowledgeable on everything, well we never become knowledgeable about everything. When we're born we don't know much at all, but we end up starting to stand and walk. we aren't really taught this. By living our lives we are taught things, we don't really have to go to school to become smart in some way. Book smart yes, but others schooling isn't needed. In Acquiring an education you acquire book knowledge, but i wouldn't say intelligence. WE are born and have the ability to learn many new things, but even according to your definition I don't think that going to school really effects your: ability to learn, understand, and reason" ......>_< i'm so sorry if I don't make much sense...like i said I'm book smart not socially smart ... sorry sad

don't worry! I didn't miss your comment, but I've procrastinated long enough..so I have to go back and study...

1. Motives behind learning? What motives? Learning is a natural occurrence and the desire to learn is a natural instinct. It's called survival.

2. Your example is nonsense. I refer you to Einstein's parrot. "SQUACK e=mc2 SQUACK"
: P

3. ^_^

4. You think that every idiot with a degree cheated their way through school? Really? All you have to do to get through school, is get good grades. To do that, you simply do your homework (copying down facts, like a ******** secretary) and do decently on tests (mindless memorization). (Though for most of school, you really don't have to do well on tests to pass, either.)
Let me tell you a story.
A couple years ago, I ran into a girl that I used to know. She did well in high school. Did her homework, managed alright on tests, usually pulled out a B+/A- in her classes, I believe. She had just gotten her bachelors degree and wanted to be a teacher. She seemed to have things in order and was well on her way to achieving her goal. We were talking and I mentioned something about the Empire State Building.
"The Empire State Building.... isn't that that pointy one in France, Paris?"
I kid you not. Word for word. At this point I give her a bemused smirk and say "France, Paris?". To this she replies "Wait... Paris is the country and France is the city right? Or is it the other way around?... No it is! I think... No, yeah.... *giggle giggle*".
She's probably "educating" our countries youth, by now. : P

5. Due to the unusual nature of my childhood, I have nothing beyond a 6th grade education.
Now I want you to tell me, that everyone in this guild is smarter than I. That I'm the dumbest person you know, over the age of 11. Go on, say it. xd

Love: When everyone thinks they know everything yet they know nothing at all. Human stupidity at its finest.
Hate: The fact the world is so beautiful but a lost cause unable to be saved by human intervention, yet... divine intervention may never come unless the cosmos sends the Earth into the Sun, but what would that solve?
No wonder you're narcissistic. XD
Am not. I only show narcissism when aimed around destroying myself. Other than that, I care only for the whole populous for I want humanity to reach transhuman status. At least then, today's intelligence becomes tomorrow's stupidity. Though that's still bad, we'd be awesome cyborgs so who cares.

Many may not like it but they can go kill themselves or tolerate it. I wanna be a terminator and travel the vastness of space. Space Terminator, they'll call me. I'll terminate space.
