"That was really something," Zach rubbed her arms up and down to try and rid herself of the goosebumps.

She examined the sword carefully, testing its balance and trying out a few swift strokes.
Realizing that Zach was uncomfortable, she blushed. "I apologize."

"Nonono, it's fine," Zach said as she shook her arms a few times. Ivan returned to his usual place on her right arm. "Just... I actually felt that, y'know? I don't have a very good magic sense and I still felt it."

Emma was genuinely intrigued. She leaned the broadsword up against a bookshelf, peering at Zach intently.
If she had worn spectacles she would have been looking over the top of them.

Zach saw the look on Emma's face and remained silent. She had nothing else to say on the subject since she did not have magic training. Ivan could carry on a conversation about it but odds were that it would end in more threats and standoffs. Of course, whenever the Lord decided to show up he would promptly move to Zach's foot or somewhere else hidden.

There was a sense of finality from above as there was the sound of one remaining survivor running as fast as they possibly could in the opposite direction.
Emma grinned from ear to ear as her husband reappeared, dropping through the ceiling like it was mist and landing beside her, not quite 'sticking the landing'.
The imperfection made it all the more attractive to Emma the Extremely Smitten, and the blush advanced.

Zach said nothing as Ivan moved from her arm to her back, hiding in the ring of Zach's ankh tattoo. Black magic was something Ivan had in abundance, although it was masked by Zach, and he didn't need Bainbridge to know about any of it. Of course, he knew that there was no way that he could be completely hidden.

Both of the Bainbridge nobles took note, especially of the fact that Ivan had never once ran from Emma.
He was wise.
