Jaeshan listened to Riza's answer attentively, smiling a little at her embarrassment. "Why would I mind?" he asked once she'd gotten her question out, liking the idea himself. "A little extra training is never a bad thing," he said, nodding. "I'd love to help you train. My Pokemon could use it, too," he added, patting the two Pokeballs that contained Weedle and Squirtle. Admittedly he hadn't been expecting the two of them to perform so well in their very first battle, though he was glad they had surprised him. Even still, he knew Weedle would be much more formidable when he managed to evolve into a Beedrill and he knew that work would have to be done in order for that to happen. He glanced back at the raven-haired girl, and smiled again. Other than her Cyndaquil he wasn't sure what other Pokemon she had, but he decided not to dwell on it as he would find out soon enough.

Erika didn't respond to Crenu's reply immediately; she instead sipped her tea, apparently lost in quiet thought. "That may be so," she said after a few minutes, carefully placing her teacup down onto it's saucer, "but not all Pokemon will respond to the same methods of training. Just something you should keep in mind," she added before standing up again. A few of the gym's acolytes were coming in for tea, as it seemed that many of them had just finished with training sessions of their own and were looking to relax in the quiet greenhouse. "It is about time for us to begin our daily training as well, isn't it, Meganium?" she asked, patting the Herb Pokemon on the head. Meganium nodded and rose from her position on the floor as well, already making her way to the battling arena. Erika turned to Crenu, and smiled. "You are more than welcome to join us, unless of course, you would like to get back to your own training schedule."

"But Lady Erika!" objected one of the girls that had just came into the greenhouse. She had long, dark blue hair and wore a pair of roughed-up bluejeans and a white tank top. "He's a boy! What are you thinking?"

"That is quite enough, Justine," Erika replied firmly, though she did not scold the girl any further, and instead looked back to her guest. "Please, do not mind Justine; she is one of our newest members, and isn't quite familiar with the way we do things around here. While it is true that we do not accept males as actual members of our gym, they are allowed to visit us whenever they please, so long as they respect me, my gym, and the others within it."

"Really? Thank you so much, I really appreciate it," Riza said happily. "Maybe then I can start getting ready for my first gym match." She sat back down on one of the benches, nearly unable to contain her excitement. Not only would she get to do some training with a really tough trainer, but soon enough she'd be taking on her first gym, and win or lose, she knew it would be a valuable experience. She pulled out her phone and checked the time before looking back up at Jaeshan again. "Is there a gym in Vermilion City?" she asked curiously. "And do you think that one would be a good place to start? Would I stand a chance at winning?"

Ignoring the searing pain in her knees and palms Katie could only watch in horror as the yellow and black spotted egg soared through the air, heading for certain disaster. Even Noa, who'd been following along behind her trainer couldn't get their fast enough, and trainer and Pokemon watched as the precious egg tumbled down, only to be caught safely by the most unlikely of hands. Katie pulled herself into a semi-sitting position, staring with wide, ruby red eyes at the small, delicate creature that had just saved the small, delicate egg. It was a Pokemon, small in stature with two beautiful roses for hands, thorns on it's head, and a leafy body. It carefully cradled the egg in it's arms, and smiled at Katie. Noa landed on the ground next to the hero of the day, chirping amiably.

"It's a Roselia, I think," Katie said, holding her hand over her heart as though it would slow the organ's rapid, erratic beating. She stood up slowly, wincing as her knees were stinging like crazy and a quick glance showed her that they were bleeding. 'At least I didn't ruin my socks,' Katie thought, walking over to where the Roselia and Noa stood. "That was an amazing catch," she said, crouching down in front of the aromatic Pokemon. "Thank you, I owe you one."

"Roselia," the flowery Pokemon replied, nodding as she held up the egg for Katie to take. Katie took it in her hands and carefully inspected it. It appeared to be fine, though it was still wiggling quite a bit. "I suppose I need to amend my design," Katie mumbled as she set the egg back in it's pouch. "It needs a button or a sipper or something to fasten it closed for just such emergencies like this one." She knelt down and looked at the Roselia again. "Thanks again, Roselia, you were great just now." Katie carefully got back up on her bike. "Take care of yourself," she called, this time trying to be more observant as she made her way down the route towards Hearthome City.

"Great work, everyone, you're doing fine," Kasiya said, turning her gaze to the remaining Duskull. It didn't appear to be upset or annoyed in the slightest, though it did turn it's single, glowing eye in Twilight's direction. The blue-ringed Umbreon was panting heavily, suffering more and more with every passing second. Finally it was just too much for him and the Umbreon collapsed onto his belly, too exhausted to fight anymore. "Oh no, Twilight!" Kasiya cried, rushing to the Dark-type's side. Twilight looked up at her weakly, attemting to get back to his feet, but he just couldn't muster the energy. "Rest now, you were great," she said, quickly recalling him. All right, there's just one left, and Rosemary and Flash are both looking quite strong. She clipped the sphere onto her belt and pointed at the Duskull. "Okay Flash, blast it with your Thunderbolt! Rosemary, Magical Leaf!" she shouted. The Jolteon was happy to comply, as only last round had the Disable worn off and he was able to remember the attack. He quickly generated a large burst of electricity which he sent speeding towards the Duskull, while beside him, the Bayleef also complied, sending a swirling gust of glimmering leaves forward as well. There was nothing the Duskull could do to block the two Pokemon's enthusiastic attacks, and still crackling with electricity made a hasty retreat, not even daring to look back. The single remaining Duskull, though he was invisible, chose not to mess with the girl and her Pokemon any further and retreated as well.

Once the ghosts had disappeared, the scenery around them seemed to flicker back to normal, and Kasiya realized quite quickly that she was nowhere near the Pokemon Center after all, and was in fact, somewhere near the Lilycove city limits. "Okay, wow," she muttered, adjusting her backpack before turning to her two Pokemon. "Okay guys, let's get out of here before anything else happens." Flash and Rosemary nodded and quickly followed after their trainer. It took longer than Kasiya wanted it but before long she and her two tired Pokemon arrived at the Pokemon Center, and just as expected the main lobby was crammed with people. All the couches were taken, and she even had to tiptoe around the floor to avoid stepping on anyone. She gave her Pokemon to the nurse for treatment and took the key that Keegan had given her out of her pocket, carefully inspecting the number on it before she matched the room number. She unlocked the door and poked her head inside - yep, this was his stuff, all right. She still felt a little bad for taking his room from him, but he'd been very insistent and she figured he'd be back shortly anyhow. She had no idea how much time had passed between her leaving the Contest Hall, encountering that gang of Ghost Pokemon and arriving here. She gathered up her bathroom things and left the door unlocked before heading to the girl's washrooms. Even though she didn't really need a shower she wanted to wash off the remainder of the makeup and she figured it would help her to relax a little before going to sleep. After that she put on her pale green nightgown and went back out to the front desk to claim her Pokemon - she'd also sleep better if they were back in her possession - and she headed back to her room. She couldn't help but feel disappointment over the fact that Keegan wasn't there yet, and before going to bed she grabbed a bunch of extra blankets and set up a comfy, makeshift bed on the floor for when and if he did come back tonight. She clicked off the lamp and lied down in the soft sheets, and within minutes she was sound asleep.

"No problem," Jaeshan replied, giving the girl a thumbs-up. He really didn't mind helping her to train, not in the slightest. He sat down as well and leaned back in the seat, putting his hands behind his head as he gazed up at the blue sky overhead. "Yes, there is a gym in Vermilion," he answered, casually looking over at Riza as she asked her next string of questions, though he didn't mind answering them either. "It's probably a good as place as any to make a bid for a gym badge," he went on. "It's all a matter of where you want to start, and keeping in mind what Pokemon type the gym specializes in. Depending on you and your Pokemon, I'm sure you could win if you gave it your all." He decided not to mention that the gym was famous for it's Electric-type Pokemon, as he was sure she'd figure it out as soon as she saw the gym.

To help the time pass a little quicker he went on to tell Riza about his previous match with Brawly, and as a little bit of incentive he showed her the Knuckle Badge he'd won as well. Before long the Kanto shoreline came into view, and the ship soon came to dock at the Vermilion City harbor. When the sailors set up the boarding ramp, he held out his arm to Riza, more out of gentlemanly habit than anything else, to help her down. "Shall we?" he asked politely.

Okay, so those last few words stung a bit, but Keegan did his best to shrug them off, and it wasn't like anything she was saying was news to him. He was painfully aware of just how much stronger his friends were, though he wasn't exactly in need of the reminder, either. "Yeah, yeah, I hear you loud and clear," he replied, pretending to look bored, "so if I'm such a big waste of your time, then why are you still here, trying to get to me? Has the almighty Team Rocket run out of grandiose plans to mess with everyone and now has to resort to petty name-calling? Seems to me like you're the pathetic one. And why do you have Kasiya's Raichu? I'm guessing you guys didn't get together and make a friendly trade," he went on, suddenly aware that he'd started moving closer to the Rocket Admin. He didn't know why, but for some reason, he wasn't intimidated by Mai at all. Not this time, anyway. "So how about you give me Shocker's Pokeball and I'll make sure it gets back to it's rightful owner, 'kay?"
=====
The Signal Beam sliced through the water at an alarming speed and slammed directly into the center of the Starmie's body, scoring a solid hit. Starrie was knocked back by quite a bit, it's body shuddering from the hit. Miharu was too busy reeling from the sudden attack to notice Marina's triumphant laughter right away, though when she did take notice she glared at the blue-haired girl. "Signal Beam, eh? Well, I guess if you want to play rough, we'll play rough too. Starrie, Thunderbolt!" she commanded. Starrie shook itself a few times before it began to spin, carrying itself up and out of the water before a golden-yellow glow began to emanate from it's core gem, and it sent a bright bolt of electricity arching into the water.

Marina's eyes went comically wide and just the look itself was worth more than the utter defeat of the Seel as it came floating to the surface, it's furry white body still crackling with leftover electricity. "O-okay so you won that round," she growled, recalling the fainted Sea Lion, "but you won't be so lucky next time! This time, I'm going with Seadra!" Marina's second Pokeball revealed the evolution of Horsea, and it glowered at Starrie as it appeared in the water. "Okay Seadra, use Agility, and then go into a Twister!" Marina commanded.

Oh, a combination attack, Miharu thought, watching as the blue Dragon Pokemon began to zip through the water, doing quick laps around Starrie. A small whirlpool began to form, soon drawing the Starmie into it's center. Miharu wasn't sure how much energy Starrie had left after taking that Signal Beam, and she didn't want to take any chances. "Okay Starrie! Try to go with the flow and use Recover!" the small girl shouted. Starrie stopped struggling against the damaging waters of the Twister attack and instead allowed itself to be carried along in the current. Once it had regained a sense of stability the Pokemon initiated the self-healing move, greatly restoring it's energy in the process.

"Urk!" Justin coughed out as Kilik slammed him onto the ground below. What was with this guy and mesing with his girl? Oh, wait. The purple-haired girl, Mitsu was her name right? Oops, looked like he'd already picked a girl that was taken. No biggie, he'd just show up this loser and steal her heart. Justin stood up, trying to hide the fact that he was just a bit intimidated by the boy standing across from him.

"Picked this guy up at Kanto," he stated before tossing out a Pokeball. A spiky mouse like Pokemon appeared from a flash of shimmering red light. It was a Sandslash, one that looked just a bit bigger than Kasiya's. Slowking was one of this toughest Pokemon, rivaling in skill close to Mitsu's own Ivysaur. His Sandslash, however was just as tough. "This'll be quick," he said throwing Mitsu another wink.

"Roll Out!" Justin commanded, his arrogance quickly replacing the fear that had just filled his being moments ago.

-----=====[x]=====-----

Mitsu breathed a sigh of relief as Kilik had quickly come to her rescue. "He didn't," she answered bluntly before stepping back. Sure that creep deserved being beaten up, but there was just something about the way that Kilik held him by the shirt that she didn't quite like. She took a few more steps back, hoping that Kilik didn't take the situation too far. She shook her head, no, he wasn't like that.

And girlfriend? She hadn't even realized that until he'd said it. A slight blush coated her cheeks but quickly disappeared as she remembered her Pokemon still out of his Pokeball. "Oh Ivy!" Mitsu cried crouhing down to be on the same level as the Ivysaur. She gingerly touched his leaves. "You did great Ivy, I promise we'll go to the Pokemon Center soon." She stood back up and recalled the Pokemon before returning to Kilik's side.

Eztli sighed. Her initial good mood was wearing thin after her encounter with John and now this battle. She waved her hand. She thought about what she could possibly do to defeat the Beedrill quickly before Xipil ran out of stamina. Eztli had been silly to accept the battle, the girl had three pokemon, and Eztli was lucky the girl didn't know how to use them very well. Xipil still seemed to be holding her own. Eztli pulled out her pokedex again. Maybe it would give her a hint. As she scanned the normal moveset for a Beedrill, she noticed something very ineteresting, and possibly helpful. The only move a Beedrill could learn for awhile was Fury Attack, and judging by the other girl's pokemon, Eztli could only guess that this Beedrill was still fairly young.

"Xipil, come here just a second." She whispered into Xipil's ear, "That bug is going to be trying to stick those spikes in your body. All you need to do is avoid those and hammer it with Ember, and we're in the clear. Got it?" Xipil nodded, a twinkle in her eye. Even if she was getting a little tired, she was greatly enjoying this battle. Eztli smiled sweetly. "Good," she raised her voice, "Ember!" Xipil exhaled a ring of flames that soon encircled the Poison Bee pokemon.

"Beedrill, Fury Attack!"

'Perfect' thought Eztli. The Beedrill jammed the spikes on it's forelimbs through several of the fireballs, but gave up instead actually concentrating on Xipil. Xipil danced out of the way, trying to show off by doing cartwheels and flips. She stuck her tongue out at the Beedrill, and made faces. Eztli hid her smile, feeling that it wasn't very nice of her to encourage Xipil's antics. As the Beedrill came in for another attack, Xipil dashed off into the tall grass. The Beedrill searched around for Xipil, unaware of Xipil coming from behind. Eztli showed no emotion, hoping the other trainer wouldn't notice either. Xipil snuck up stealthily, then, with a war cry for added effect, jumped on the Beedrill's back. The poor Beedrill, completely taken by surprise, flailed around, actually landing a few jabs on Xipil. Xipil hung on to it's wings for dear life, internally heating her body up so that it burned the Beedrill on contact. It cried out in pain, and finally flung Xipil off. Xipil landed hard, and struggled to get up. Eztli saw Xipil was finally running out of stamina.

"No more fooling around! Beedrill, finish it off now!"

"Xipil, Ember!" Eztli hoped that because Xipil was faster, Xipil would deliver the final blow. She was right. Xipil exhaled one huge fireball that struck the Beedrill. It wavered in the air for a moment. Xipil continued to exhale the flames until only smoke came out. As both pokemon staggered around, Eztli prayed that the Beedrill would fall first. It seems the Forest Guardian was watching over her, because the Beedrill did indeed fall first, with Xipil staying up only a moment longer. Eztli recalled her, then held out her hand. "That was a great battle. I have to say, I think I got lucky. I'll leave you alone to your picnic now."

"Are you kidding?! That was great! You were so cool, I'm not even hungry anymore!" She recalled her fallen Beedrill. "Wanna walk to Goldenrod with me to get our Pokemon healed?" Eztli smiled warmly, even though she didn't particularly want to take the girl up on her offer. She enjoyed quiet reflection, and the girl didn't seem to be the type to be quiet or reflective. The girl took her hand, and shook it briskly. She hurridley started to pack up her things. "I'm Alana by the way! What's your name?"

"I'm Eztli."

"Oh that's an interesting name, huh?" Eztli thought about the meaning behind her name, but kept the fake smile plastered on her face.

"Yeah, interesting."

Sam was a good swimmer, and much faster then when she was running, but she couldn't catch up to Star. Star was built for water, and knew about the currents and changes in wave patterns instinctively, something Sam could never achieve. Sam fought the slight riptide pulling her in the opposite direction. Star disappeared around the corner of the island, and Sam heard her cry out. Sam stopped for a moment, treading water, before continuing on at a faster pace. As she rounded the tip of the island, she stopped short. There were huge signs everywhere proclaiming "DO NOT ENTER" and "CONSTRUCTION ZONE". Star had been surprised as Sam, and had stopped. She was now slowly being pulled out towards a slight whirlpool that were common around these parts. She fought it, but she had never encountered a whirlpool, which was counterintuitive to her mind. Sam crawled ashore, breathing heavily. She really needed to excersise more. A worker pulled her up.

"What are you doing here?! Didn't you see the signs?! This place is a secure area! No trespassing by civilians!" He jabbed his finger at the various signs as spittle flew from his lips. Sam tried to explain, but was cut short. She heard Star cry out again. She fought against the man's grip, but it was like steel. She furiously kicked, and cried out, "Star! We have to help Star!" The worker didn't even spare a glance. He tried to shove Sam into a car, but she fought him tooth and nail. Literally. She left deep gouges in his face from her nails that had grown longer from her stay away, and she left a half-moon impression on his arm from her teeth. The man put her into a chokehold.

"What's going on?" The pressure immediately was gone. Sam almost fell to the ground. The man covered the bite mark on his arm. A well-dressed man came striding up with a stern look on his face. "Mr. Araoka, I am shocked. Using such force on a young girl is shameful. Our project is not that secretive." The man handed a hankie to the man to wipe off the blood. The man held Sam's hand, and kissed it gently. "I am so sorry for this mishap. You see, we are trying to build a new Safari Zone here, one Johto can call it's very own. We've been trying to keep it a complete secret, even from Cianwood's residents, for years until it is completed. It almost is done now." He smiled a wide, white smile. Sam, at this moment, could not care less. She looked around the man's shoulder, straining to see Star's dark blue fin. It was still above the water, and approaching the whirlpool very fast.

"Uh-huh that's nice, you could have told us sooner, sorry for attacking your worker, blah blah blah, now if you excuse me!" She pushed past the man, and went to dive in the water again. The man held her back. She turned on him. "Hey! If you don't mind, I'd like to save my Pokemon!" The man gazed out on the ocean.

"No matter. I can do it." He took out an Ultra Ball. "Dragonair, if you would be so kind." A large blue sinous dragon came out of the ball.

"Naiiirr!" It dove into the water, and sped towards the whirlpool. It jumped out of the water, hovering slightly above the swirling vortex of water. Star had given up on fighting the whirlpool, allowing to swirl her around like a giant drain. The Dragonair exuded an aura of peace, and it's eye were wide an curious. It dived slowly down , it's tiny wings flapping. It coiled it's body around the tiring Marshtomp, and slowly lifted her out. It flew back to shore, caring the Marshtomp almost effortlessly. It uncoiled like a yoyo before letting Star gently down. Sam held her for a brief moment, before dropping her. She had gained alot of weight in evolution. The man recalled the Dragonair. Sam leaned over Star.

"You okay Star?" Star's eyes were open, and furious. She spat a load of seawater in Sam's face. "Okay, I deserved that." Sam didn't even bother to wipe it away. She leaned down and hugged Star. "I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking when I said those things. I know you have done tons for me, and I haven't really thanked you for it. So...thank you." Star crossed her arms. She wasn't ready to give in that easily.

"And how long will this last? Until you get mad at me again? This is all very insincere you know. You're only saying this because I nearly drowned out there. Those seem to be the only times you care about me."

"That's not true, I always care about you." Sam leaned down, and whispered in her ear. "You know you're my favorite," she teased. The Marshtomp looked slightly more satisfied, and got to her feet. Sam sat on her knees. "Truce for know? I promise I'll pay more attention to you. I'll compliment you, shower you with attention. You just gotta realize, I'll be doing the same with Devlin and Miles, cause I don't want them to know I'm playing favorites here." Star smoothed her fin back.

" I guess I can accept that for now. On one condition."

"Oh I have to hear this."

"Ask the man if we can visit the new Safari Zone over there. I may be smarter then you think, but only you can understand me really, because of some weird bond trainers and pokemon share. I mean, people can usually tell what a pokemon wants and such, but they can't hold a real conversation like you and I. Well, psychics can too, but there are so few of them." Sam hadn't even though of why she could understand Star's words now, why they weren't just chatter like other pokemon, but Star's explanation made sense.

' I guess if Star wants to communicate with me, she can. She just chooses not to.' She turned the nice man, with the worker standing by, glowering. "If you don't mind, could we visit the new Safari Zone? Like get a tour or something? I won't tell anyone else, I promise, but...I've been living here my whole life and I never knew this was happening! This is going to be amazing!" The man smiled.

"Well I guess it couldn't hurt to give you a basic tour. It is the least I can do after my worker here mistreated you." Sam blushed.

"Oh yeah...I really am sorry about biting you and scratching you. I just wanted to save Star." The worker said nothing, merely stomped into the building. The man beckoned.

"Well, come on in. I'll guide you myself."

Kilik's lip twitched for a second. A Ground-type, he thought with a growl, Figures. They always play the weaknesses. Then it hit him that Rollout was a Rock-type move, and not a Ground-type attack. "I gotta hand it to ya, I figured you were a little smarter than that," Kilik laughed, looking over at Cable. The Electabuzz was a more than formidable opponent for any Pokemon. Even though that Sandslash did indeed look stronger, Kilik knew that it was speed over power that won battles. My strongest attacks can't hit him... he thought. No matter. I've got this in the bag anyway. "Jump out of the way, Cable!" he shouted, "And follow up with a Swift attack!"

Nodding, the Electabuzz dashed out of the way of the spinning Sandslash with incredible speed then hopped up into the air. "Elee...buuuuu!" The Pokemon cried out, throwing his hands out in front of him. A barrage of stars began to shoot out of his palms, aimed straight for the hide of the Digging Pokemon. Treecko pondered for a moment. Wasn't she good against Ground Pokemon like that one? Something was instinctively telling her that she would've had the advantage. Why wasn't she the one battling, then? Kilik slid his hands into his pockets very nonchalantly, acting very cool and collected about the whole situation. He looked over at Mitsu and smiled.

Giovanni put his chin in his palm, tapping a folder on his desk. He seemed very bored, very absentminded. However, what was contained in the file was very important to him and was causing his mind to work a mile a minute. Contained was information that quite possibly could bring those kids crumbling at their very foundation. "Managing to crack Mike was a huge leap," he said to himself, "As I've taken down one of their strongest. Kasiya and Kilik are thorns in my side, and this..." he smirked, opening the manila folder and thumbing through the pages. "Brings her straight to me."

"Developed by the best minds Team Rocket has to offer..." Giovanni turned a page, looking at the picture of the girl, "Our first foray into human experimentation...A failure of a project!" He threw the folder against the wall, paper flying all around him. He held his head in his hands, and growled. "A waste of my resources. But something tells me that she's finally found a way to acti---" A scientist came bursting into his office, panting. "What is it?" Giovanni stood up immediately, "Is something the matter?"

"Giovanni, sir!" he gasped for air, "get down to the lab immediately! It's urgent that you see!" And as quickly as he came, the man left. Giovanni raised an eyebrow and slowly headed towards the door inside of the fake wall. Just what could have been so urgent?

"Keep on going Sandslash!" Justin commanded. The stars fell like a barrage against his hard spikes that blurred due to the speed he was spinning at. The Swift, for the most part, had little effect on his body as his rotation deflected or shattered most of the attack. Not to mention his tough defenses.

He didn't give another command as the Sandslash veered to the left, circling around to try and hit Cable. He kicked up his momentum, spinning even faster than before. If he landed a ht this time it would definitely take out a bigger chunk of health than his previous try. "You know," the boy sneered, "By the end of this battle I'll have that girl for sure." He jabbed his thumb over at Mitsu, not even bothering to use, or remember, her name.

Mitsu glowered at the boy, angry at his comments. As if she'd ever be stupid enough to go with a guy like that. And to think she thought he was nice when their own battle had started! She flashed Kilik a smile, mirroring his own for her. "You can do it Kilik!" she cheered. But you already know that, don't you?
PostPosted: Sat Oct 03, 2009 11:45 pm

Cable landed on the ground and saw the spinning ball of Sandslash coming right at him. Planting his hand onto the ground, Electabuzz managed to flip into the air, but the top of Sandslash's ball hit his foot and caught him offguard, causing him to spiral and crash into the dirt. Clenching his teeth, the Electric type stood up slowly. That didn't hurt too bad. "Rock-type moves aren't super effective to Electric-types," Kilik said calmly. "You remind me a lot of my friend Mazarin, only he's actually funny. You're just sad. Mitsu isn't some prize to be won," he growled. Shaking his head, Kilik began to let the gears turn in his head, closing his eyes. He caught a glimpse of his opponent's Sandslash through Cable's eyes, and the boy began to wobble slightly. Groaning, Kilik put a hand on his head and opened his eyes. Looks like I'm going to have to pierce those defenses before I can get a solid scratch on him, the boy nodded.

"Alright Cable, I want you to use your Leer attack!" No sooner the words had left his lips, Kilik felt odd for saying it. Leer was never an attack that he used often, and to think that he was using something other than Thunderpunch, Swift, or Quick Attack boggled even his own mind. Cable had even been taken for a loop and turned his attention towards Sandslash. His eyes narrowed, then he opened them wide, both eyes flashing a red hue then blue, then back to normal. He sure hoped Kilik knew what he was doing. He couldn't lose his second real battle as an Electabuzz to a freaking Sandslash. Boys were weird. Why did Master always seem to stumble when he closed his eyes? Was it because he wasn't very light on his feet? Perhaps he didn't like the dark? Whatever the reason, Treecko definitely thought that he was a weirdo, but she loved him none the less. Even Cable, that big yellow thing that was fighting, she loved him too. Kilik rocked back and forth on his heels, whistling to himself. He didn't have much to worry about.

Riza nodded, satisfied with Jaeshan's answer, even though she was slightly annoyed that he hadn't mentioned what type the gym used. She wasn't completely in the dark about gyms as her hometown of Blackthorn was also home to the strongest Pokemon gym in all of Johto, and she knew that Clair and all of her subordinates used dragon-type Pokemon. 'Oh well, perhaps it's better that I don't know,' she thought. 'It'll make it that much more interesting for when we get to Vermilion City.'

When he'd gone into his story about his last gym match on Dewford Island, Riza couldn't help but pay attention to every little detail. This Brawly fellow sounded like a real tough trainer and again Riza wondered how Crenu's match had gone. When he showed her the badge, she couldn't help but smile. 'He must be good to have won that,' she thought. 'I wonder if we can win in the Vermilion gym.'

She'd almost not noticed when the ship docked in Vermilion, and after making sure all of her things were in order Riza followed Jaeshan towards the boarding ramp, giggling a little at his kind gesture. "Thank you," she said, taking his arm and allowing him to help her down the ramp. "So, where to first?" she asked, looking around the harbor. She still wanted to get some training in before going to the gym. She wasn't that confident yet.

Katie hadn't gone too far before she realized that Noa had stopped, and was trying to get her attention. Katie skidded to a stop and looked back where the Staravia was pointing with a wing. It seemed that the Roselia that had saved the egg was ambling along behind them, waving it's arms. "What's it doing?" Katie wondered aloud, gently rubbing the smooth surface of the egg without even realizing that she was doing it. "What's up, Roselia?" she asked, getting down off her bike. "Are you lost or something?"

The Pokemon continued walking until she was right in front of Katie and Noa, and she did a little twirl before bowing. "Roselia!" she said, nodding. "Roselia!" Noa tilted her head and looked up at Katie, cooing.

Katie wasn't sure what the Pokemon wanted, so she decided to make an intuitive leap. "Do you want to come with us?" she asked. The Roselia nodded, and clapped her 'hands' together. But before Katie could say another word, she jumped back, bringing her hands up in what looked like fists and she began to jab at the air. "I see. But first you want to battle, right? To see if we're strong enough." The Roselia nodded again, pleased that her message had gotten across so well. "Okay then, if that's the way you want it, we accept! Let's go, Noa!" Katie said, getting back to her feet, already withdrawing a poke ball from her backpack. 'Roselia is a grass and poison-type, it would be a great addition to my team,' she thought as Noa got into position as well. "Let's start off with tackle!" Katie commanded, hoping that her Staravia wasn't too tired to fight after that tussle with the Golbat earlier. Katie also took out her Pokedex, figuring it would be a good idea to get an understanding of what Roselia was capable of.

Mai smirked, and placed a hand on her hip, eying Keegan as he moved closer to her. "Dear boy, you give yourself far too much credit. I'm not out to mess with you. You just happened to pass out in the vicinity of my hotel, and had the brave little Raichu not awoken you, I simply would have taken all of your Pokemon and left you lying in the gutter like the waste you are. In fact," she reached into her pocket and withdrew two Pokeballs, "I think I will take your Pokemon after all." With that, she tossed the two spheres out in front of her, revealing her Glalie and of course, Kasiya's Raichu. "And you are right about Shocker, here. The means by which I obtained her are far from legit, though you'd be surprised just how obedient she is. Now, are you going to submit to me like a good little boy, or are we going to have to do this the hard way?"

Celsius, the Glalie, hovered a few feet from the ground, her angry frown forever frozen on her face. Even in the cool of the night the frigid cold generated by the Face Pokemon caused steam to rise from her body, giving her an eerie appearance in the moonlight. Shocker, on the other hand, looked straight ahead of her, hardly daring to make eye-contact with the redhead she'd grown fairly attached to in the past few weeks. The last thing she wanted to do was fight against her friends, but fear of disobeying Mai ensured that she would do whatever the Rocket ordered her to. The Raichu raised her fists and growled as a shower of sparks began to rain from her cheeks. She was ready.

Ah, Vermilion City, Jaeshan though, breathing in the salty air as he looked around. This place had so many memories etched in it, and he couldn't help but smile even as his feet touched down on the pavement below. "Where to?" he repeated, nearly missing Riza's question. "Uh, well, it's a pretty big place and there are lots of great places to visit. There's an empty lot a few blocks away from the Pokemon Center that's a known battleground, but I also want to check out the Pokemon Mart as well, so let's head there to do some shopping."

Figuring that Riza wouldn't argue he began to lead the way through Vermilion, as it was possibly the most familiar city in all of Kanto to him by now. After only a few wrong turns, they managed to arrive at the blue-roofed Mart, and Jaeshan didn't hesitate to enter. He knew exactly what it was that he was looking for and he didn't waste any time in doing so. He picked up the specific TM he wanted and also purchased three extra Pokeballs. Once he'd gone up to the counter he also decided to sell the Rock Tomb TM he'd won in Rustboro City, and in turn it canceled out the new TM he'd just bought. When he was finished he waited by the exit for Riza, already applying the new TM to Butterfree's Pokeball. I hope you can make good of this in the future, girl, he thought, grinning at the butterfly's Pokeball.

Mitsu touched Kilik's hand lightly as she caught him wavering in the corner of her eye. It was odd that he should be stumbling right now, he always seemed so strong and confident in a battle in a way that never showed any signs of weakness. So what was with the sudden wobbliness?

Justin growled not only at Kilik's insults but at his new tactic. While he was a stupid skirt chasing jerk he did know about Pokemon and these status effects were going to be a real pain. That was the only way that girl had managed to take down his Slowking anyways. "Pfft, why not try something that'll actually help you win?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest. "Roll Out may be Rock type, but not every attack has to be super effective to do some decent damage," he scoffed, "Take for example your little girlfriend. She won with those damn status effects."

His lips were pulled into a taut line as he watched the battle unfold, taking it just a bit more seriously than before. Sandslash was launched into the air and on his way down he picked up even more momentum. The Leer didn't do much to stop him from his downward plummet back to earth, though he could feel that his defenses were just a bit weakened. He swerved upon landing, moving in an arc to hit the Electabuzz from behind. This was three, only two to go.

Mitsu remained quiet. It was a shame that the boy was such an idiot and had such a horrible personality. He seemed to be a decent trainer. Not that the level difference or the type disadvantage was going to stop Kilik from winning.

Kilik's hand twitched a bit when she touched him, but a light smile crept onto his face. That moment of weakness vanished in an instant and Kilik was back on his game. "Cable, behind you!" he shouted. Electabuzz had the advantage over most first-stage Pokemon, thanks to his incredible speed. Few things could outrun him, and the things that could were fellow Electric-type Pokemon. This fact, coupled with his training, allowed for Cable to quickly get out of the way of attack three. I need to manage to stop that Sandslash from rolling. He's got two more chances to hit, and that last hit is going to count for some major damage, the boy dug his foot into the dirt. That's two more chances for Leer to penetrate. After all... he smirked and cleared his throat.

"Don't play with me and think I don't know that," he snapped, "You've got the advantage. My Pokemon's strongest attacks aren't going to be able to get through to your Sandslash. And for that, I can't tell if you're a smart trainer..." Kilik shook his head. "Or a pansy. Cable, use Leer again!" After doing it a second time, the boy felt that this could be a tactic to get used to. Yet once those Defenses went down, he had to use his strongest attack available: Brick Break. Nodding, Cable took aim at the still-spinning Sandslash. It was sort of making him nervous, and he really didn't want to disappoint Kilik at such a crucial point. He could tell that his trainer was being much more intimidating that usual and he wanted to back it up. Again, his eyes flashed right at Sandslash, his mouth curling into a grin. "Be careful, Justin. Two Leers cuts a Pokemon's defense clear in half! You wouldn't want me to get a third in." Though I need to be careful myself, he thought calmly, Cable would be able to handle the fifth hit so long as he doesn't take the fourth. He already took some damage from hit number two, though it was minimal. Part of me wishes I had Aggron with me. He'd really shut this kid up.

"Heh, best not underestimate your opponent," Justin sneered. His Sandslash barely flinched though he could feel his defenses were cut down once again. It wasn't going to stop him though, his trainer was counting on him. He turned again, spinning even faster than before, but this time at Cable's left flank. His spikes were close to his body, blurring so fast that they became indistinguishable. Dirt and grass kicked up from his path as he rolled forward, trying to pick up more speed than he'd ever before. Once he got near he swerved to his right and turned trying to get Cable from the front. He'd picked up quite a bit of momentum. If he didn't get hit this time he'd for sure get caught on his final turn.

Justin kept quiet. No insults this round. The kid knew what he was doing and he hated to admit it, which of course he would never do aloud, but the kid's Electabuzz was stronger than he'd expected. No need to worry though, he'd raised Sandslah to be tough as well. They'd been working on his speed recently too. If he didn't land the fourth he would for sure hit him on the fifth.

Mitsu stood next to Kilik. There wasn't much for her to do but give him her silent, though probably unneeded, support and watch the battle unfold before her. Sandslash was definitely the higher level of the two, though Kilik's new adoption of the attack Leer seemed to be paying off.
