Thats why i have the identify spell no? Lol jk but seriously trolls should be common enough to have everyone know fire kills them, and anything magical Selce should have learned about or know some kind of information from her training... I think?

Yea, the forest is Prometheus's, and Laren's neighborhood, haha. However, i gotta say Prometheus oughta know more, seeing as he is a druid and all.

I'd say a druid would know more about regular animals of the forest: I'm not exactly sure where druids stand on eating venison by most standards...rangers on the other hand are basically druids that hunt and track for a living so they'd be the best informed on this sort of thing especially if they have the feat for a favored enemy vs a creature or humanoid being of the type...speaking of which, Laren: do you get any spells in this RP? Or are you basically a bow technician?
I've been reasoning about it like this: If we (the player) know about it in detail enough, wouldn't it stand to argue that the character would know about it as well, unless we're talking about newly created beings? (For example, I won't be very garrulous about godly beings or outworlders because I simple don't know much about those sorts of encounters)

Laren is the character... I'm Purest. Though if you wana talk to the very pissy Elf chick thats fine.
Laren: What the Hell? What am I doing here? Where did the caravan go?
I brought you here to answer KaiTen's question.
Laren: Oh.. Well your the boss seeing as how I can't go agianst you... B*****d... Anyway, no I have no spells... I can do first aid, talk to animals and charm them to work with me, track and shoot a bow better than you ever could. Oh, and I can wield two weapons at once. Thats it...
Yes... level 8 haha wonder what you get at 10... >.>
Onto your second paragraph KaiTen: I know alot about monsters dude... I mean alot. More than any adverage player should know considering I've bought the D&D Monster manuals and I spent alot of time researching fiction from other sources because of my fantasy addiction.
If Laren knew everything I did, which she does not, then it woudn't be roleplaying. Sometimes you have to pretend you don't know something in character when you actually do know it OOC. It works both ways also, Laren is a ranger and knows alot more about plants than I'll ever care for.
wow long post...

Good God, so much to reply to. DAMN YOU COLLEGE scream
Anyways. As Purest stated, even if you, the person, know the entire D&D bestiary, then that's not a valid reason that your character should know it. They are, themselves, an individual within their own world, thus, they must discover these truths on their own at any point during their lifetime, whether it be during their raising/training or their adult adventures.
Rangers would have a greater knowledge of monsters than essentially any other class due to the fact that they are the actual wardens of nature, not the ones who actually are "one with nature". As a result, they not only encounter more creatures, but must prepare themselves for any future encounters. They are unfamiliar with planar beings or greater undead.
Druids would actually have slightly less information regarding the creatures of the world. They would know a great deal about all animal life, and a small amount about humanoids, however, they are blind when faced against creatures that do not belong to nature, such as undead or the races below the earth.
Wizards tend to be the opposite, their focus being on the rare, not the common. They are far more familiar with the creatures of legend and power, such as dragons, undead or the races beneath the surface.
All other classes just have a basic understanding of the bestiary of the world. It would be fairly common knowledge that trolls could only be killed by fire or acid, so its not a stretch to say that your characters knew that anyway.

Also, I'm assuming Halflings wouldn't know much about creatures from their short lives, true?

Well Ninja that's not necessarily true. But for your current character it seems likely he has only had a few minor dealins with the creatures of the world. Especially since he is the type to steal from people (Having to stay close to cities and the such to be able to do that.) , so he'd be a good judge of character or sumthing like that.
Other than that I dunno.

Zero is correct, it goes along with my previous post, simply saying that all non wizards/rangers/druids have the same basic knowledge of the creatures of the world.
Meaning more often than not in the later part of the game, NOT THE EARLY PART, everyone who isn't Laren/Prometheus/Selce, should be saying: "OMGWTF IS THAT?!!?"
By the way, either Erron or Tjaden should step up and take control of the caravan soon as a leader, otherwise the NPC's are gonna get restless and baaaaaad stuff is gonna happen. Just get everyone to Haven, ASAP. Phineas will be fine, he's a plot character, so he'll live razz
Oh, also:
THREAD UPDATE: Check the first page of the OOC Thread for details on Advanced/Master Class Upgrades.

Ninja Zackeus OOOOOooh, how do we know where or how to find the secret missions? Some villagers might be talking about the Quest NPC's etc. You won't be able to find them without hearing these rumors and exploring them on your own.
