Pendra grinned at the newly hatched pair. Still there was something about the watchfulness of the blue that made her wonder... If he's this protective what happens when she finds her's? Still it was refreshing after the earlier conflict.

It was too early to say for sure if the two newest dragons on the sands would be any less unruly than the last, but so far they seemed cordial enough. It was almost cute how the blue had waited for his sister, and then followed after her. Merase thought he must have a good idea on who he wanted to choose, if he had time to help her out first. She didn't seem to thrilled, but them what dragon here today had? She leaned forward in her seat to see better. The girls were closer on the sands than the boys to her, and some were out of sight behind heads of other watchers and so on. Would this impression be blood-free?
Velrun had many of the same thoughts as those watching. The pair seemed quite content when placed next to their siblings and rather calm. Something about the way the blue had watched over the green thought made him curious. Hopefully none of the girls would repeat the fool boy's attempt at getting closer. The green didn't seem the type to maul, but the blue perhaps... He shifted, moving his feet to keep them cool. The sands were hot today.

Jisken's eyes widened as he watched one of the smaller eggs quiver, somewhat hoping it would be a slightly more friendly green than its other siblings. However, another egg caught his attention first, and he hesitated at the sight of another blue, resisting the urge to pull farther away into the crowd. Once bitten, twice shy, as the saying goes, and it was hard to blame the boy for wanting to stay on the sidelines of things, especially with his arm still thrumming in pain under his bandages.
He couldn't help but be somewhat relieved when he beheld the green from the first egg, and for a moment found himself awestruck by the familial closeness of the two, completely opposite the previous pair. Even more relieved was the youth when he watched the two head for the girls, but as his line of sight expanded to view the females he beheld Firyal, somewhat wounded, and concern flared up in his chest. As soon as this was over, he vowed to be the first to check if she was alright.

He too would watch as the blue and green broke free from their shells, their patience and almost protective nature for one another enough to relax him just slightly. It was, he'd admit, a nice change. For the better, certainly. Inaari's words made his face fall flat a little, and he shook his head somewhat as though to deny it. "Don't count your dragons before they hatch." He muttered stubbornly, but kept an eye on the two. Who would they seek out?

A grin split across Terisa's face as the little blue waited until his sister emerged. Finally! A set of dragonets that did not want to attack each other.... Though she still wasn't going to step in front of either hatchling, it seemed a bit more safe to remain at least within sight of the hatchlings.

The bowl was starting to smell of blood, or was that just her nose playing tricks on her? Another felled Candidate, just one this time. Not bad, for this hatching. Then, the American Paint egg stole her attention. She was eager for it to hatch, curious to see the dragonet inside. When the Big Blue Brother took hovered over the American Paint egg, Weiwin became even more anxious, though she stepped back when the pair verged on her group. Her eyes didn't waver from the pair, however.

The display of the newly hatched dragons, namely that of the dark blue one, actually earned a feminine 'awww' from Alanna, who in a moment of feminine embarassment clapped a hand right over her mouth and frowned. Ohhhh shards.
Certainly she was smarter than to actually expect dragons to be so...bland in personality, but in this case she had been expecting them to be so very.. humanlike in their own right. But in that, she was almost in awe of how..darling it was. Ohhhh faranth, hopefully those two would be able to play together even after they'd impressed.
Yes, that would have been nice. Someone for them both to have besides their riders.... Ahhh! She was almost jealous right from that very thought. But no... .... She couldn't promise anything for it.
But she could hope for them!

E'si sat in the stands, legs stretched out in front of him, possibly take up as much room as he could for some as lean as he was. Those who complained usually received a flat glare or a small tell-off. Miith usually cheered him on when he prevented a girl from taking the space his legs required for relaxing. Silently he was glad he wasn't a participant in this Hatching, and also silently thought it served his brother right for coming to the Weyr after him. His gaze fixed on the taller and more pleasant-looking Silute. E'si had made quite a show of avoiding his little brother at every open opportunity. Really, since Silute had showed up, E'si hadn't said much of a word to him. He didn't hate his brother, he just hated that he was here. E'si had left home for the single purpose of getting away from his family, and now they were following him like a sharding plague.
A SHARDING PLAGUE.
* * *
Silute was relieved that the Blue had Impressed relatively quickly... and with only... uhhh... some collateral damage. He grimaced to himself, and carefully turned his gaze to one of the eggs that seemed to be shaking more than the rest. Another brilliant blue dragonet hatched, and it seemed to be the first one that wasn't aggressive. Silute's eyes remained fixed on the dragonet as he weaved through the eggs, and he was sure that the gesture of the blue guiding his green sister and protecting her was the most sweetest gesture in the whole Hatching. He was sure the other dragonets were more focused on themselves and their lucky dragonriders-to-be.
It put a little ease to the stresses of the Hatching, took off the edge, and if one of them 'snapped'... well at least they were in with the girls.

Before he had a chance to form another response, a green joined her blue brother on the sands, and the two touched like old friends, or the closest of siblings. Certainly, he'd never been so gentle and loving with his own sisters. Kind, perhaps, but not particularly tender.
True, it was a sweet moment, but Zafir had found himself on the wrong end of an unkind older brother defending his sister before, and even among humans it was a dangerous place to be. He found himself vaguely thankful that the pair was headed towards the girls, neither sparing another glance in his own direction.
The two would either be much kinder than the vicious hatchlings so far, or they would be a force to be reckoned with. Zafir hoped silently for the former, his fingers curling and uncurling. The stillness was going to make him tense. He took another few steps towards Merik and Raedue, but like everyone else, his eyes were riveted on the dragons.

Another egg cracked and split, and then another. Admiring the splotchy pair, Ceanandin absently listened in as a Candidate beside him muttered to his companion that these two, at least, didn't seem ready to kill anyone. Only then did he pull his eyes from the newly-hatched to note the blood-splattered sands, and the torn and stained robes of several Candidates. Perhaps arriving late had worked to his advantage after all, if he'd missed a mauling.

Well, Selachii thought as he watched the protective sibling and his little green sister, at least neither of them would be lonely. Fidgeting, he tugged at his hair in thought, rubbing one hand through the salty, sandy brown locks. What if none of them wanted him because he hadn't had time to wash up before he came to the Hatching? His stomach dropped, and he'd begun to look a little unhappy. STILL, there were several left, right, and surely one of them must like the sea... If that was even it! He was indeed being foolish.

If there was one word to describe this Hatching, it was chaos. Jaidev couldn't believe how many had been mauled (and that none of them was him- though he supposed he'd paid that due at his first Hatching).
It had started auspicious, with the big queen egg rocking. It was...strange since the golds usually waited patiently to even twitch in previous events but this one was so eager! He didn't think much of it- it was as good a start as a Bronze, right? He was still uneasy about the lack of a Touching combined with jam-packed Sands but maybe, he thought, Jisken was right and he needed to be less uneasy. They never Touched in the old days so...how much a difference could there be?
A HUGE difference, apparently. A roving brown's claws had sunk themselves into Jisken, first of all. It was...ironic. It had been a brown that had gave Jaidev his scars. Another boy had fallen to the claws of the brown as well. So much for an auspicious start. Then the queen, once she emerged, took out a few more Candidates. Next was a blue.
What now? Jaidev could handle the odd mauling or close call without panicking. His incident was thread-char in the wind- nothing lasting. He didn't have severe trauma. But when so many maulings happened with such frequency...yeah, he was going to get a little nervous. Okay, a lot nervous. But judging by the look on the other Candidate's faces...he wasn't alone in his feelings.
And now a Blue and Green were roving the sands, heading towards the girls (and away from him), mercifully. Would there be more casualties? Or would things settle down? These two seemed a little less angry and restless, at least...

He grinned at the other boy as the little blue came to take him. This definitely was interesting, and very exciting, even if he didn't Impress! He gave Mal a wave of congratulations and quickly glanced over at the Gold and Hers. She was much calmer than she had been, and he realized just how much power was shared between a dragon and it's bond. He blinked, slightly awed with the way any human could calm such a beast, but it wasn't long before his eyes were back on the eggs.
The Vanner was hatching.
Closest to the Clydesdale and one of his favorites, he watched anxiously as the Blue came tumbling out of it's egg, only to simply turn around and wait on it's sibling egg. And when she hatched, he was more interested in having her find her own bond first. He smiled and snorted softly, amused. He seemed rather intent on protecting her, like any proper older brother would, even honored to do it. They were quite a cute pair, really. For the time being, he could only watch. However, he was becoming quite restless, and shifted on the Sands, moving his legs so they weren't as stiff as they had been. He could only hope that it didn't disturb the little dragonets, because they had already found out how dangerous the little buggers could be.
As both dragonets headed towards the girls, he couldn't help but feel slightly relieved, and at the same time, worried. Would they both Impress to girls? It would be interesting, to say the least. Still, if anyone caused the little Blue or Green to become vicious, well...
At least they were over near the girls, and the chances of him getting mauled were slim. Or, so he hoped.
Still, he inwardly cringed at the thought of anyone else getting hurt, especially one of the girls. He may have been awkward and flighty around them, true, but he would, in no way, wish any harm to them. Especially not from an angry, moody dragonet who had yet to find Theirs. He pressed his lips together in a thin line and tried to think it through, only to groan at himself. Shardit, he thought. There was no rhyme or reason to the whole thing, really, other than instinct. So, if instinct was the main thing here, it was best to ride it through on that alone.

Getting close to the breaking point, Kess decided to momentarily give up on willing the rest of the eggs to hatch, and, keeping her eyes locked on the pair heading toward the girls, began to make her way through the other Candidates, heading for the healers she'd been intermitantly staring at, silently begging them to come and check on her.
They'd checked on all the other mauling victims, after all. And, well, her arm hurt. Not knowing if Uuni would join her or not [perhaps not, Kess was leaving a great vantage point], the blonde held her arm close to her chest as she approached the healers, face expressionless despite the unhappiness in her eyes.
Numbweed, maybe a splint, something that wouldn't make her leave the sands...

The green was, in no way, like her siblings before her. She was neither violent nor in a hurry. In fact, the splotchy green made a point to give each and every girl a good look. It wasn't a fleeting glance, it was a true study. She wanted to know each one before she made her final decisions. Her brother seemed to be perfectly fine letting the smaller dragon linger. Well, at least the first time. The second time she began to lap the females, the blue started to make it clear he was getting a little impatient.
Quite some time later, she still hasn't found Hers. Determined not to leave her alone, the Gypsy Vanner nudged the Paint gently before looking towards the boys. She sighed, but she allowed the larger blue to lead her along to the males. She was completely uninterested, but at least her brother was not nearly as meticulous. He gave the candidates a once over, puffing himself up a little as he attempted to make himself bigger. He was looking for His, a real man of a man, he must be-
The blue snorted and stared. Why was a girl standing with the boys? Tipping his head to one side, the blue started to approach Weylin, snorting again as though completely affronted by the idea a girl would stand with the-
Wait.
Waaaaait.
That silly-looking creature was.....
Weylinmine, this is absolutely unacceptable. LOOK AT YOU. You... The blue gave a great sigh. Come here. Your Toronth has a lot of work cut out for him. We wait here until she finds Hers.
Toronth sighed again. ...oh...Mine... He didn't look...like Toronth had imagined. For sure.
