Pathological Kisser

User ImageKait stared intently at the fight, Isaac was certainly impressive for his size. She knew that Matt had special gifts while Isaac was like Kait, a skilled fighter. As she watched she tried to keep her mind busy by studying what it took to win at these arena fights. Matt's experience seemed be benefiting his ability to anticipate, deflect and avoid taking much damage from Isaac. The latter's attacks seemed somewhat impulsive and not entirely well thought out. Even so both fighters were putting on quite a show.

Out of her peripheral vision she saw members of the Corps looking over her and the other cadets. She felt somewhat self-conscious under thier gaze. She was anxious to prove herself and wanted to be in the field so bad. She had not interacted with any of the Corps during her time here and few of the recruits. She kept to herself, practiced and studied non-stop. She wanted to be the best and persued her goal in a single-minded fashion. After this fight she planned to go to the training area to practice. Watching the fight made her anxious to exert herself and imagine the techniques that she would have emplyed in the different situations.

Having finally slammed the voice back into it's quieet corner, Malkin sighed softly. Looking at the new girl once again, he greeted her much in the same way.
"Afternoon. My name is Malkin. Pleasure to meet you." Watching the fight and halberd kid barely dodge the other's attacks, Malkin nodded.
"I imagine telling people that I can light myself on fire would cause some disbelief. Still, that kid is doing impressively well for this man's testing. When they are done, you can try your hand at me if you wish." Malkin said, lighting a cigarette and standing off to the side. Most people don't like smoke being blown into their faces.

Kait looked up at Malkin. He was over half a foot taller than her and althought he was slight, he probably out weighed her by thirty pounds or so. He seemed to fight with blades as well. She looked up at him and smiled, there was something wild about him. She tipped her head towards his cigarette, "Give me one of those and you have a deal. I'm Kait, by the way."

She sat up and felt a rush of adrenaline up her spine. She was going to get to fight. Fighting was just as good as sex....well almost as good as sex. She flipped her throwing knife up in the air and caught it and slipped it back into her sleeve. She was anxious now, ready to test herself against an actual Hunter of the Corps.

Matt let his right hand swing wide with the miss. He watched, with a growing respect, as Isaac improvised on the fly and curled his legs for a powerful double kick. He swung his left arm in and across his body and then back outward to his left again as the kick came in, to hook both feet with his flaming arm and push it away from him. Meanwhile he had curled his right hand into a fist of fire, ready to slam it into his opponents chest once he had an open shot.

((Btw, Kyground, you mentioned this in a post a while back and I forgot to point it out. Matt's gauntlets are no longer bladed. He removed the blades prior to the match.

Kairi, Kaitlyn, there are several rings on this level. Each is inset into the floor, with stone walls, circular, and with circular stone benches rising up around them.))

"You really think that the boy will be able to take a direct hit from Matt? Without seeing the hit the shock value alone could knock him out." He chuckled then, "And I don't think you have to worry about Matt killing him. He's not exactly like that."

(Sorry, I must have forgotten at some point. By the way, what exactly is the floor like? Stone? Roman Arena style? We may have already mentioned this.)

Isaac was impressed, even with the high expectations that he had. Matt had been fast enough to deflect him. Not only was his perception and reaction time amazing, but he was in time to maneuver Isaac out of the way. With that he lost his only advantage, and like this he was fighting a losing battle. And he was tired, the meeting people had had him hyper for a while burning all of his energy. Besides, he had yet to eat lunch.

As his kick was deflected he moved with his legs and escaped by pushing with his arms to basically hop away. As he landed on his feet he held his hands up, his head was bowed. "I concede," Isaac said as his stomach growled. "If you want to keep going or do it again it has to wait until after I eat." Isaac wasn't sure how to act. He technically surrendered, it bothered him, but not enough to have a reaction other than that feeling in his gut that just kind of sat there.

(Aww...! It's short and it sucks... Plus it's me surrendering... I wanna die!)

Matt rose up to his feet and stalked off the few paces between himself and Isaac. He raised his right hand and as he brought it down onto Isaac's shoulder he extinguished his flames so that he set his normal gauntletted hand down on the young fighters shoulder.

"You did good, kid. You've got style, too. I like that. Get some more training and experience under your belt and you'll be a real competitor, I can tell. So, what say we head to the cafe for something' to eat?" Matt said to the younger Hunter.

Kiro sighed and then outstretched his arms, groaning extremely loud. "Man I'm tired now. This was the only stuff keeping me awake." Kiro said to no one in particular. "I still need to meet up with William, but I guess I'll wait for him to find me now as well as leave that kid alone. He's had a tough fight and he's making new friends, best not to disturb that." Kiro said quietly to Train.

"I'm going to go see what meat they got at the cafeteria." Kiro announced and began walking away while yawning deeply.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 09, 2009 4:28 pm

William and Kimiko walked into the cafeteria. After she had healed up his injuries the two of them had decided that it was close enough to noon to go for lunch. William had offered to lead her so that they would be able to arrive faster than if she had gone without his aid. They made quite an odd pair as they walked in. One dressed all in black, and with weapons strapped all over his body; the other in all white, carrying a simple walking stick, and with her arm around his.

"Here you go, Kimiko." William said as he pulled out a chair for her at a table in the far corner of the cafeteria. "Why don't you just tell me what you'd like, and I'll bring it for you."

"William," Kimiko said, with an exasperated expression that her long bangs partially obscured. "You know that I can take care of myself. I've been blind my entire life, and I've just fine so far."

"Of course I know that. I'm just old fashioned, I believe that a lady should be treated with courtesy."

An evil little smirk crossed her lips. "You'd better watch it with that lady stuff, William. But since you're offering, I'll have a plate of pasta, something with white sauce."

"How do you know which color sauce is which?" William immediately asked without thinking.

"Because I tasted it and somebody told me that it was white sauce."

"Oh..." William said, somewhat embarrassed that he hadn't thought of that. "Alright, I'll be right back, then."

William went to the tables, where the food was displayed and found what Kimiko had asked for. He gathered that, some utensils, and a glass of milk. He had it added to his tab and then returned to the table.

"Here you go, Kimiko." William said as he set the items on the table before her. "I'll be right back, again. Gotta grab something for me."

He walked to the tables with the food again and selected a spread of meat and vegetables with a wedge of cheese and a small loaf of bread. He again gathered utensils and a glass of milk and had that added to his tab as well before returning to the table with Kimiko once more. After sitting down the two of them proceeded to make small talk while they ate.

Isaac nodded furiously. He was starving, he only hoped he didn't stab himself with a fork again. But, this feeling was overwhelmed by Isaac pride and happiness. Matt liked the sparring match, good. Though Isaac didn't think they were at the hand to shoulder stage yet. "Nothing I would like more," Isaac said. "All I ask is that I can collect my things, mister, 'I have to melt almost all of the boy's bullets.'" Isaac theatrically waved his arms in the air. Happy to know he'd be eating soon.

He wandered away from Matt to get his halberd and pistol, plus any surviving bullets he could find. He lent his halberd against his shoulder as he moved back to Matt, "Ready when you are."

Train glanced over at Kiro again, acknowledging his announcement. He hadn't really realized that the fight was over. Glancing in the other direction at the other group. He wasn't too interested in entertaining them. It was unusual for him to even hold out as long as he did with Kiro even. He slinked away silently as he heard the sound of jumping and the slamming of boots on a hard surface.

Emma leapt over the small barrier that separated her from the fighting area. She ran over to the two males yelling, "I loved it!" She had to fight every desire she had to hug Isaac, she barely even knew him and yet she was proud. She almost forgot that she had brought Malkin to the arena to look for his teammates, but he was entertaining some ladies anyway. "You get 'em tiger." She thought quickly as she returned her full attention to the finished fighters.

"That was amazing, I'd squeeze the life out of you if you had the energy left." Emma was happy, nothing could ruin her mood now.

(Still not my greatest post.)

Kiro casually entered the cafeteria, hand hands rested lazily on his katana handles. "Gahh..." Kiro groaned as he came in. "Hopefully there is still meat left." Kiro said quietly to himself as he finally noticed William there. "William!" Kiro called out and began walking toward him. "We're on the same team this year a long with that new Issac kid." Kiro stated as he quickly made himself at home by taking up two seats at the table Kimiko and William were at.

Malkin nodded and handed the girl one of his cigarettes, flicking one of his light-sticks into existence. He had thought he was talking to Emma about the duel, but then, he had been talking to the new girl. And Emma looked rather distracted. Besides, he needed something to blow off the steam building inside him at that moment. Watching the finaly, he nodded.
The kid knew he wasn't going to win after Flamy got serious. Shows that he has some intelligence. If he lives long enough, he may become an incredible Hunter.
Looking back at the slim girl, he saw the hunger in her eyes. It somewhat worried him. If she got too serious, things could get out of hand. If he let himself go, somebody will die. Probably him, but anyone could go. Seeing her little trick with the knife, he sighed.
Crap. She may actually kick my a**. I suck at range weapons. I can dodge them easy enough, I'm just not good at switching my skills with them.
"We don't have to fight if you don't want to Miss Kait. I can always just go." Malkin figured she probably would ignore that, or get indignant, or just tell him to get his a** down there. This may be the reason he never had luck with women. Or finding princesses.

Freya looked at the fight ending and couldnt help but to let out a sigh of relief.. "Thanks godness no one got hurt". The fire dude could've easily blow up the unexperienced hunter in a second if he really wanted to and she was glad he had shown discipline toward the younger one. Because of this, she actually even considered dueling him one day. Shaking her head to exit her thoughts, she noticed another girl who joined them during the fight and the horrible scent of cigarette quickly got to her. Freya coughed a little and bowed her head politely to Malkin and Kait to quickly make her way out of there. Even her own father smoked cigarette, which is why she knew probably everyone in the Corps did and that is what kept her from bursting out angrily at the two of them. No matter, she was sensible to this scent.

Once she exited the arena, she stopped dumbly and thought. "Now what..". Most people were going to the cafeteria to grab a snack, but Freya didn't felt hungry at all. After a few second of a slow moment, the black haired girl walked away slowly, seeing the duel she had just witnessed rolling back and forth in her mind, eventually, she herself got to the cafeteria and she ended up getting herself a cold drink and a chocolate muffin.. can never say no to a chocolate muffin.

Matt had waited for Isaac to collect his weaponry and then led the way out of the ring. As he exited he saw that the two of them had collected quite an audience.

"Hey," Matt said as he raised a fist to all of the spectators, a wide grin spread across his face. "Hope you all enjoyed the show. I'll be accepting challenges again after lunch if anybody's interested." He turned back to Isaac. "Now, let's go get us some o' that good ol' Corps gruel." That said he led the way to the elevator and inside. He had the crank men hold the gates for anybody else that wanted to go down as well.

"Hey! Kiro! I was wondering where you went." William greeted his friend enthusiastically.

"Hello, Kiro." Kimiko greeted the young Hunter politely.

"Us and Isaac, huh?" William said. "That's excellent. Between the two of us we'll train that kid to be an a great Hunter."

"Who's Isaac?" Kimiko asked.

"New recruit." William answered. "Just barely hit the minimum age requirement, I'd guess. Fights with a halberd." As he finished speaking William noticed a young woman dressed in a kimono top and skirt with daggers, a katana, and a bow about her person enter the cafeteria. He didn't recognize her. "Seems to be a lot of new recruits around here lately."

She looked at Malking and laughed. "Worried that you will hurt me? I'm not. Come on, lets go play. You lead the way." She put the cigarette between her full lips and took a long drag. She knew that Malkin was a professional hunter, but she wanted to match up against someone of that rank to see how she was measuring up. She was close to graduation and she wanted to know that she was ready.

She stood up, stretching a little as the leather straps that wrapped from her back around her sides to her front went taunt to hold the back harness with her two weighty short blades firm against her body. She practiced flexing her arms with the leather sleeves holding all of her throwing blades. She had been planning on practicing after she watched a few matches so she was ready to go.

Her pants were really loose so that she could move and flex and sat low on her hips belted tightly around her hips. Her boots were heavy soled and tough. She didnt have any of the special powers that some of the others had like fire or super speed, though she was quick and agile, but only in a natural sense. She was skilled at hand to hand combat and with blades but that was the limit of her abilities.

"Yeah, and they all seem to have too much energy. It's too much for me." Kiro commented. "They're also pretty eager to fight whoever they can... Reminds me, you didn't hear about that fight between Train and I did ya?" Kiro asked both William and Kimiko. "He hit me real hard, sent me flying out the the arena and into the stands. I hope they don't make me repair those cracks in the stone!" Kiro ranted out loud. Kiro was relatively comfortable around William and could talk about whatever the heck he felt like. He was at home.
