Without looking at her I stood up, "move on." I echoed her words, and took off at a dead run, straight through teh canopy, if there was no hope for my dreams of a better time, I would be tougher than what the world had become. If there was one thing a Swftiblade knew how to do, it was survive.

I stopped dead, ofcourse I heard everything she said, she dealt with humans too much my hearing was like that of a wolfs, she wanted to die, I just knew it....I thought the emotion was false, I had misunderstood.....but she wanted to ask me to kill her. I stared at my hands, would I do it for her? No...not myself....I lovde her too much to think of harming her in anyway, but I would make sure that, even if she faded into the shadows herself, her legacy would last forever. I jumped down to the ground from the canopy and began immediatly, a water source was easy, I was still crying, I started shaping the wet seed infront of me, growing it, changing its texture, its flower, finnaly, hours later, I had created a new plant species, Scarlet's Tear, it was a rose bush with the strangest roses ever seen on the planet, the outer rim of the rose was a bright light blue, but as it neared the center it turned darker and darker red, ending suddenly with a bright red middle, the same color as Scarlet's hair, I collected seeds from the bush and left, spreading them sporadically behind me as I went, eventualy the trail would be known as the Path of Tears, a natural source of growth and beauty, possibly one of the only ones left in the husk of a world.

It was a few weeks since Scarlet dissapeared, not even the link seemed to be able to reach her, instead of a faint tug in her direction it felt like a limp chain. I strolled through the forest, shade trailing me as always, the egg turned out to be a variety of...black velociraptor, where they got that I hade no idea. So far I (sadly) had a rising reputation as the mysterious 'wild man' of the region, fools didn't even remember what a druid was! I thumped my staff against a rock sourly. So far nothing new was happening, a few strange unnatural human creatures had gotten loose but they where all dead, returned to the earth where they came. I bent down, checking out prints on the ground, not identafiable, another creature from the goverment let loose. I hefted my staff and followed the trail, a growling Shade following.

I slowly pushed her staff aside with mine showing I ment no harm, Shade on the other hand, he was growling menacingly. "Please, don't mention Scarlet to me.....she has not been around here, I know everything that goes on in my forest. She has not been here..." The animals did warn me about near anything in the forest, and no one had been in it for days, until now.

I patted Shade's head to calm him down, which obviously didn't work, "Stop being formal, please, I have known Scarlet....for a long time...Her dissapearence was her own doing...I couldn't stop her." I stared off into the distance and leaned on the head of my staff, I felt tired. Was Scarlet back from teh shadows already? No, getting my hopes up would just hurt me, I must be tougher than the world.

"Ok, two things, one, i'm a druid, I protect nature so the new generations will have atleast a little hope of seeing the natural things I have seen in my past five some-ought hundred years, and two, I will certainly not take orders from you!" Oh she infuriated me, sh expected me to roll over and let her walk over me, like I would let anyone do that! And to bring up Scarlet like that....

I shoved my staff into the ground, roots shot out of the ground and grabbed her feet, she fell on her face, I walked over as she tried vainly to extract herself from the root, already producing a naturaly slippery film, "You. Are. Not. My. Elder. And you WILL not call me a half-breed! I am Drako Swiftblade, past general of the Roseblades. You are not above me in the slightest. I dropped the lightning she had shot at me, now in a compact ball, at her feet, it would die out ina minute. "Now, leave! This is my realm, it is under my protection as decreed by the ancient order of druids, that lightning could ahve started a fire!" I turned around and walked off fuming, she was still struggling with the roots as I left.

I turned around and looked at her and her 'form' I laughed in her face, "I am not a hero. End of story, I have paid many prices, I dont plan on paying anymore. Infact, I don't plan on leaving this forest until I damn well please, and no amount of 'fate' will stop me!" I was not going to be cowed into playing the hero again...no...not again. Scarlet would never love me like we used to....I stood their, waiting for a reply defiantly.
