You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

"I'm pretty sure that they are." said Perrault as he helped Farfarello to his feet.

"I think you should trust him if you want to see again..."

The demon hated to be seen so helpless. If they poison me, he thought, I'll steal a bezoar.
He stuck the power berries in his mouth and chewed. As promised, his vision began to return. Friends, he thought, a rediculous notion.

The Shrak's howl was louder now. Clem shuddered. It could be heard for miles. He shouted as loud as he could.

"HEEEEEEELP!"

Naturally, Raedou's keen Ganzi hearing picked up the cry for help.

The cry sounded like that of a little girl to Raedou, and he couldn't imagine why a little girl would be in the heart of the Valtican Mountains.

"Did anyone else hear that?" he mumbled as he took his hand off of Farfarello's head.

"Look at the size of my ears, of course I heard it!" Farfarello said, hands over his ears. First my eyes, now my ears, he thought. "Who the bloody hell is making that infernal noise!?"

"It sounds like a young girl." Raedou said, scratching his head in thought.

To Raedou, the sound seemed to be miles away from where they were now, and he could not make it there in his current condition... which was pretty bad. He looked down at Farfarello, putting his hand on the demon's shoulder.

"Farfarello, do you think that you could use your agility and speed to make over there and see what's happening? We will wait for you here, and you will be rewarded when you return."

"No." He responded simply, "I don't think I could. All of this agility and speed you speak of - gone." The spot on his stomach was still glowing, to his irritation.

K-JAG
Raedou struggled to get the demon off of his body, but that damn creature held on like nothing he had ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

Finally, he decided that he had enough of this.

Raedou frantically dug around in his pack with one hand while trying to keep Farfarello's vicious jaws away from his face with the other hand.

Then, he held out a gold, ornate mirror with leafy designs on it's base, surrounding a crystal clear glass face.

He shoved it in front of Farfarello's face, and it loosed a blinding flash of light, right into the demon's raging eyes.

Farfarello was still holding on to him, mind dazed and pupils unnaturally enlarged to the point where only a small bit of white was left visible in his eyes.

Farfarello slid off of Raedou's body, sprawled out onto his back.

"There..." sighed Raedou, obviously tired from such an energy consuming endeavor. "That should shut him up for a while."

((How you blinded him was okay. The emboldened, underlined part of this quote was the only instance (i think) of godmodding. But like I said, if you two plan this out then its completely okay. Now I know not to raise a fuss unless someone else does, first.

I shall post momentarily.))

Ephlas looked into the distance, squinting. "It sounds like a baby seal to me, honestly."

The mage considered a few things, during which time he gingerly grasped Raedou's outstretched hand, somewhat afraid of being crushed by the Ganzi, to be truthful.

How strong was a Ganzi's hand? Stronger than a human's, most likely.

"I can't afford to detour even a mile, and I have no idea about either of you two," Ephlas stated. He then considered the demon. It's powers were locked away... and could only be released by the command of the nobility?

It was too risky to try. If Ephlas did free him (assuming he was noble and of the nobility), then he would have no further reason to travel with them, he would be many times stronger in power, and there would be no telling what he would try to do.

Plus, he was a demon. Typically, demons tended to be, well, demonic. There was also the point that, somebody had sealed his power for some reason. Obviously, a reason well important enough to expend the considerable energy, time, and effort it took to form a lasting, impressive seal.

"I'm afraid that, unless you're willing, Farfello, the poor soul is doomed. I don't know how well Perrault fairs physically, but it just doesn't seem to be as well as your condition is. Poor soul. In the hands of a demon, of course, what else could you expect though?"

((lol, nice one. baby seal...))

Raedou nodded his head.

"Aye," he mumbled, "At this moment, she is probably being torn to pieces by some Horde creature..."

Raedou looked down and closed his eyes in remorse.

Farfarello nearly giggled like a little girl at the thought. "I'm not really a - Oh, how would you put it? - a saving people person."

((Sorry for the lame post but I have to go >.< Sumani sumani sumani~! Be back later, though >.<))

Ephlas nodded. "And that's too bad," he said with a sigh, "because I don't see why anyone would want to free a demon unless he or she was indeed benevolent. Ah well," he finished, turning to Raedou, "shall we go then? I still think that its dangerous out in the open...."

Needles to say, and said anyway by the shuddering motion Ephlas involuntarily made, he was indeed mortified at the thought of fighting Mindbreakers.

Tanessa... did something. I forget where she is, I know watching the fight, but I can't remember where I left off. ((o_O))

Raedou shrugged.

"Oh, well... maybe she'll make it out of there in piece..."

He pushed his fingers together and closed his eyes.

"May the spirit of Ganziga be with the poor young lass..." he mumbled.

He averted his gaze to Ephlas.

"Yes, let us go to the blacksmith's house, just down that hill," he said, pointing north of their location. "There, we will rest and resupply. After that, we shall venture into the mines."

Raedou began down the hill, and then turned around.

"Well?" he said, motioning for the others to follow him. "Let's make haste!
We have wasted enough time here!"
PostPosted: Wed Dec 10, 2008 6:39 pm

Ephlas nodded, following. He was busy at the moment, however, preoccupied with his mind, searching out the presence of any hidden Mindbreakers.

And if he did happen to brush his consciousness against that of another who was magically-inclined (or a Mindbreaker), then the other would know it.

It was too bad when Ephlas did sense not one, but three Mindbreakers to the north.

Ephlas's statement ("...I don't see why anyone would want to free a demon unless he or she was indeed benevolent...") screwed up Farfarello's face in an odd way, as if the glowing spot on his stomach suddenly started swimming around. "A benevolant demon? The very idea." He was, for once, telling the truth; the very notion of a benevolant demon was absolutely absurd. However, it was easy to tell by the occasional twitch of his tail that Farfarello was in mild concideration of saving the young girl. With an exhasperated sigh, Farfarello trudged in the direction of the sound before suddenly picking up extreme speed. The demon was fast.
