Maryl emerged from her room mostly dressed. She carried her thigh high socks and her travel bag as she made her way down the hall and down stairs to the couch. After taking a seat and putting on the right sock, she called up toward the stairs, "Okay! I'm ready when you are!", while putting on the left. To keep busy, she flipped open her travel bag to make sure it contained the things she needed.

Seth had been halfway through getting her chain shirt over her head when she heard Maryl call out. "I'll be right down!" She yelled back before putting her tunic on and grabbing a pair of short work boots out of the closet. After collecting her harness from the floor beside the footlocker at the foot of her bed, she hurried out the door and downstairs.

"Take your time!" Maryl called back up as she took her spell book from her bag. She began to thumb through it, inspecting the faintly illuminated letters of draconic text and symbols within. She knew how to cast some of them without preparation time or reading through them from the book but the sheer number made doing so with all of them an impossibility. After taking a deep breath and letting out a sigh, she stuck the ribbon page marker into the book and put it away again.

Seth came plodding down stairs and calmly walking over to the landing by the front door. She sat down on the step and set down her harness to put her shoes on then slip the harness on under her tunic. "Well alright then, how are we getting there?", she asked Maryl, looking back at her on the couch.

Maryl got up from the couch and approached Seth, stooping down by the edge of the step and smiling. "Well, for convenience, lets just stick to teleporting there." She approached the door and slid her shoes from by the door stepping into them, sliding them on, then tapping her toes to make sure her flats were snug.

"Well, lets go.", Seth said as she stood up and took her tinker's union cloak as she exited through the front door. After a few short steps off the porch and down to the grass, she stretched her legs as if she were preparing to run, then stretched her arms out before waving them back and forth. After turning to wait for Maryl, she put her cloak on and looked down at the ground, noticing she was standing in the swirl of dirt left behind from last time.

Maryl took her cloak from the coat tree and followed Seth out the door, stopping to close and lock it since she was the last to exit. She hurried down the porch steps and up to Seth in the grass before she took out her wand and began to hold it up. "Okay, here we go." A magic circle, the same as before appeared beneath them. the air around them began to swirl, picking up the already displaced dirt at the edge of the circle. As the circle glowed brightly, the two of them faded into the light to be whisked away to the refuge.

Kel came flying in high above the empty hills, living toward the edge of town like this had its conveniences. As he dropped out of flying formation and descended toward the ground, he could automatically sense that the house was empty. He remembered the kids had plans, and he was held up quite a bit with that unlikely encounter in the mountains. He landed toward the smithy entrance and took a short few paces to the cage door. "Well, the kids did have plans for today." He pushed his way in and shut the door behind him, before he made his way over to a chalkboard by the door to the house. He checked a few boxes off with the little stump of chalk, then went inside the house.

After some time to rummage about the house, do some cleaning, stop for lunch, and get some projects started, Kel emerged from the front door. He hadn't put away his sword and though hidden in his coat, his gun remained on hand. He carried a pair of swords he had crafted in the past, one was a wavy blade of flame, a flamberge. The blade itself resembled a lick of flame standing straight up off of the hilt colored of flame. The other was a thick Talwar of whirling gales. The blade took on a greenish hue and the hilt had a rounder knuckle guard similar to a cutlass.
After a short walk directly away from the house, Kel stopped some 50 feet away leaving a nice setting of house and trees lining the edge of his yard. Taking a stance and preparing his mind, he began to practice maneuvers and techniques of a twin sword style forgotten to this world.

((It's been almost 20 days...))
After a short break for meditation, Kel finished up his training for the day. The two blades of gales and flames he had been practicing with stood upright in the ground in front of him. Kel stood up, drawing both swords from the ground and turning to walk back to his house with them in tow. Having glanced up at the sky briefly, the sun looked to have passed zenith. It was the afternoon. I wonder what those kids are up to now? He thought to himself as he took a second to work some kinks out of his shoulder.
Kel could feel a faint resonance of energy. It looked like the kids were back at the refuge. Since their energies were so small it was likely they weren't in any immediate danger. Kel shrugged and entered his house through the side door, kicking it shut behind him.

A portal opened up next to the porch steps of the house. Maryl stepped out after Seth leaving the portal to quietly collapse. She took a brief look around to make sure they were in the right place and sighed in relief. They were home again, yet still it was rather quiet. "I wonder if your dad is home?"

"Huh? Nah, he's home. Dad isn't really the adventuring type." Seth walked up the porch steps and unlocked the door, expecting to find her father either working in the forge, cooking, or loafing about. Part of her began to wonder what it was about adults and routines. What joy could there be in doing the same things every single day for the rest of one's life?
After entering, She took her boots off and left them by the wall next to the door. She put her harness on the coat tree and walked over to the couch, taking a seat and leaning back. "What a day though, right Maryl?"

Maryl stepped quietly inside after Seth. She took a moment to place her bag by the coat tree and stand it up against the wall. She sat at the landing to take her shoes off without stumbling, leaving them sitting next to Seth's boots. It looked like Kel's shoes weren't there but since he did use them for work it wasn't surprising. "I guess you're right." She replied to Seth. "Though if I may ask, why does your dad not go adventuring? He seems like he'd be very capable."

"Well, it's not like he hasn't done it before. Being able to fly just about anywhere kinda cuts down on time and interest though."
"And for all the risk it provides, the rewards are somewhat paltry. I've made more within my profession than wandering around the lands swatting monsters and excavating dungeons." Kel chimed in as he emerged from the hallway by the stairs. He paced over to his chair at the other end of the coffee table and sat down. "So, how did your day go?" He asked them both as he sat back in his chair.

"Oh, it was great," Maryl smiled. Her smile turned to a bit of surprise as the rest of the day came back to her mind. "Well, it was a bit strange too." She remembered the refuge and began to wonder about the safety of the refuge again. She couldn't bring herself to actually trust the two strange gray women who knew their names but seemed to secretive at the same time. Being attacked by skeletons wasn't all that pleasant either. Making her way over to her spot on the couch and sitting down, she shook away those thoughts and smiled again.
