Owen didn't think his eyes could get any wider, but the stinging seemed to tell him that they had. "C-Charles? You-you're a man?" His left hand kept unconsciously groping for the door handle, which was a good several inches away, if he had bothered to look. But all he could do was stare unabashedly at the man in the wheelchair who had somehow spoken to him when he was outside. That thought alone made him panic, and he felt as if the mansion had suddenly sprouted dozens of eyes, and they were all fixed on him. He watched Charles, Professor Xavier, gesture deeper into the house, and a thousand crazy thoughts danced in his head, from fleeing deeper in and hiding until he could sneak out, to smashing the nearest breakable and arming himself with a sharp piece to ensure an unmolested escape out the front door. But all those thoughts born out of desperation quieted when a smaller voice whispered, What are you afraid of? Isn't this what you wanted? Isn't this the reason you climbed the wall in the first place? Owen found himself answering, Yeah well then why do I feel like a cornered animal? He forced himself to focus on the professor, glad at least that he was the only person around; any more people and he probably would have bolted without all of this crazy gut-wrenching indecision. He took a deep steadying breath, reminding himself that if the situation ever got freaky, he knew where the door was. Besides, Charles didn't seem all that threatening. He cleared his throat. "I...uhhhm....s-sure."

"Looks like we've got company," Morgan remarked, peering out the window to see what was going on outside. He'd heard the snowmobile, but Kara'd gone out before he'd had a chance to. He saw the girl turn from the calico form into the cougar, and knew in a moment that something was up.
"Be right backk," he said to Laura, moving past her and heading towards the door.
"Cool it, O feline one," he said, coming up the front walk, and getting a good look at the few who had gathered outside. Morgan stopped in his tracks, as he recognized several of them, in particular a dark-skinned brunette.
"Hello Victoria. It's been a while," he said, looking at his former friend.

Sarah had gone to scoop the cat up when Becca tried to chase it off. "Hey." She protested as Kara bounded away a few paces. "Huh???" She blinked at the cougar that appeared. "That' not normal...." She said looking over her shoulder at her three copatriots. Before she could question the situation more a familiar person came out of the Brotherhood manion. "Morgan?" She asked blinking.

Her head tilted as she looked up at Morgan before shifting back into herself. Arching an eyebrow at Sarah when she said his name she looked over at Morgan. "You know these intruders?" She asked, her ears tilted towards him curiously.

((Yeah we are but Shandra, my character, is cloaking them from all forms of senses. Kind of like true invisibility, where no one can see you in any form at all -hear, touch, taste, scent, the mental things people associate with the 'sixth sense' and of course sight. But that should be a problem now...after my post.)) Shandra watched the interaction between the Professor and the new kid. Her curiosity wasn't completely satisfied but she supposed she would just have to make due. After all if he asked later, when she finally did 'reappear' to any of his senses, she wouldn't have the guise of protecting him. At least none that he would feel was polite, some people had a thing about trusting everyone and giving them the room to be trusted. She slipped her hand off of Blade's skin and held her breath, while jumping up and down, until she felt like she was going to pass out. As she sucked in the much needed air she could feel her skin tingle, it was the key sign to when her powers activated and deactivated. She looked to Blade and gave an uneasy smile, "Sorry...just didn't feel like getting in trouble if he asks later."

((OOC: Noted the bit about Shandra, but yes, even if she did just now completely block herself from even mental senses (though I see that a bit unlikely, Xavier's an uber telepath afterall) he would have been aware of her and Blade's presence before the shield, no?))
"A man, a mutant, just like yourself, yes," answered Prof. X respectfully, and he wheeled back just a tad, to give Owen some space. The young boy seemed incredibly tense in his presence, or perhaps just because he was in a familiar place but it was understandable in either light.
"But since you look like you've been chilled to the bone, this way, please, Owen," Prof. X then gestured toward to the parlor once again, which, as luck would have it, was in the same direction that two female students of his were 'hiding' so to speak. Charles had picked them up, telepathically, just moments before, but now they were very hard to pin down, no doubt because of the mutant ability of one of them. He was trusting enough to know they meant no harm, so he left them be for the time, though they might make Owen a bit less anxious.
===
Victoria's focus broke from packing her snowball just right when she heard a deep, deep growl from not to far off. Eyebrow's furrowing, she flipped her gaze upwards and was only mildly surprised to see a full-grown cougar where the house-cat had once been. Apparently, the Brotherhood house now had a shape-shifter of some sort. Not showing fear in the slightest, Victoria slowly stood up just as a voice from somewhere behind her called off the cougar, which morphed into a more human form. The morphing did not phase her at all, but the familiar male voice did.
"Morgan!?" she sputtered, her tone flat, making it hard to read the thoughts behind it. She turned around to face him just to be sure the voice matched the face she remembered. "It's sure as hell been a while," she finished, with a trace of awkwardness.

((Ah, true on both accounts. I'd say she would need much more practice to be able to get away from Professor Xavier's mind. And I'd forgotten about before she shielded them. sweatdrop )) Seeing as the Professor had already escorted the new mutant by the time she had let go of Blade Shandra didn't feel the need to go and protect him. If need be he could protect himself. After all he was one of the strongest mutants in the mental field, or so she had heard. And where others couldn't even feel her he could usually find her when he concentrated a little. 'Which reminds me...I need to find a way to practice the metal shield thing...so far I can only do it unconsciously.'Turning back to Blade just a few seconds after she had spoke up, informing her about the fact that she didn't want to get in trouble her smile lessened but was no longer uneasy. "Out of curiosity, how did being 'invisible' feel to you?"

((Do you mean Lady A? Because my character is with you, Oniongirl))
Becca watched as the average looking cat shifted into a larger cat. A cougar perhaps? Something dangerous. Becca's jaw dropped, hands raising from her sides as if to protect herself from the animal, should it pounce.
"That is not a normal cat," she said, sliding one leg backwards slightly.
Becca was so focused on the feline that she didn't see the white haired boy exit the house. At the sound of his voice, her gaze snapped to him. His attention, however was focused elsewhere. Becca returned her gaze to the feline, feeling it was a bigger threat when she saw it change from cat to girl.
"Now that you don't see everyday," she murmured to herself, quite sure this was another mutant.
((Edit, and sorry, I didn't see your post.))

Owen moved as awkwardly as if his arms and legs were wooden and he had a plank shoved up the back of his shirt. He slowed his pace and looked at Xavier curiously. "Mutant?" He chewed his lip thoughtfully. "I know that word; what does it mean?" He walked more slowly in the direction Charles was gesturing, looking back at him in anticipation of the answer. He had heard the word often, but in association with everything from aliens trying to pass themselves off as humans to government conspiracies to create super-people for the military, and he had no idea what it really meant. All he knew was that they looked like normal people, they could do amazing things (he had witnessed that firsthand only a few months ago) and a lot of people really hated them. He had even had the occasional person attempting to be sneaky and make a little cred by catching what they had thought was a helpless little mutant. A few well-aimed brass candlesticks usually sped them on their way, and if that didn't do it, a dramatic appearance of a few dozen spiders did the trick. He had thought the intruders stupid and had thought no more about it. But to suddenly hear the same word used in reference to him by this man who had amazingly spoken to him from such a distance, it seemed so astounding and obvious at once. He knew that speaking to insects was no ordinary feat, as was his limited blending in, but it honestly hadn't occured to him to compare himself to the ones who could do such things as burn a mall down.

((Kara's not in cat form anymore Kayura. razz ))
Kara tilted her head curiously at Becca, her tail brushing the snow behind her. "You seriously act like I was gonna attack you." Well she had been if Morgan hadn't come out but that wasn't here nor there.

Blade smiled at Shandra. "It was . . . different." She supplied and thought for a moment about it. "I kinda liked it." Blade answered honestly. "It makes you good at spying. Which, I have a feeling, is something that will come in handy."

Becca watched as the girl changed, retaining some of her feline bits, cat ears and tail. She quirked an eyebrow at the odd look. What fear was there was gone, a mingled look of curiosity and slight disgust had replaced it.
"You were," she stated, her tone matching her expression.
Her gaze traveled up and down the girl's form, lingering on her cat ears and long tail, studying the girl like a scientist might study some interesting bug.
"You had all your shots, right?" she questioned, tone changing, taking a serious note. If she was being sarcastic, it wasn't detectable in her voice.

"Actually I wasn't going to attack, not without a reason. I was merely trying to scare the three of you off and I guess it didn't work. As for the second question, which I find insulting and annoying, I don't have to have shots like an animal. I've had all my normal immunization shots you twerp." Kara's ears flicked back in annoyance as she glared at Becca. "I don't know what that look of yours is for but you better wipe it from your face." She hissed out at the girl.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you," Becca said apologetically, expression matching. "Can you turn back into that little kitten? I think I preferred hearing that more than you," she concluded, expression turning vaguely sarcastic.
Becca then crossed her arms, expression changing again, this time to something of unamused boredom. If she was afraid of Kara, she hid it well. She glanced to Victoria, wondering as to the point of coming to this place with such friendly people.

"A mutant, is term for people like us," explained Professor Xavier as he led Owen to the parlor. "Meaning, we possess a seemingly rare genet, the X-gene, which grants us various superhuman abilities. Communication with insects and mild invisibility in your case Owen, am I correct?"
Bye now, the pair was situated just outside the parlor, which was hardly used by his students, despite being very open and welcoming. It was slightly more formal than the living room, where the television was, which might have had something to do with its scarce usage. Either way, the comfy chairs and coffee tables made it a nice place to offer a cup of tea to a stranger.
"Have a seat, please," he offered again, gesturing to the set of couches near the window, where tea and everything was already set out.
