That was when Nightmare decided he had seen enough, slamming Soul Edge Phantom into the ground just in front of Crow. He stepped between Tai and his opponent, facing Crow. "That's enough," he said, "Any more damage to my serant will cost you your life."

"He has proven his loyalty time and time again," he said, "I have no need to call him off, as he knows better than to attack again once I have ended a fight."

Crow looked down at Nightmare, then released the charge in his fist and, once again, recalled the orb before it reached Tai. He stared Nightmare in the eye, and a strange eye it was, pulsing with the power of darkness. "I hate to say it, but your servent doesn't look to be in any condition to make real judgement. I'll leave him alone, but I have heard many stories of your power. If you think you can take my life, then I encourage you to try it now." Crow stepped back a few paces and raised his blade to Nightmare. "Though it might also be wise to tend to your apprentice."

Nightmare turned toward Tai, grasping him by the thoat with his huge right hand. He lifted him into the air, turning back towards Crow. "Is this what you mean by tending to him?" he asked, though knowing full well that it wasn't. "The fact that he isn't struggling shows how fit he is to make a wise decision," he said, watching as Tai just hung there in his grip.

Crow glared at Nightmare. "Yeah, you've made your point. Now drop the kid and fight me or take your leave now." Crow continued to point the blade at Nightmare, never wavering.

"Please," Rakunya growled. "Who are you trying to prove your darkness to, us or yourself?"

Laughing, Nightmare dropped Tai, who fell to his knees, gasping for breath. He turned and walked away. "Come Tai," he said, "We have other souls to conquer."

Crow turned away from Nightmare and began walking back towards the rest of the group. "I'll be back on your trail someday, remember it."

Tai got up and glared at Crow as he said that he would be back on Nightmare's trail. He would have to do something about that man before he could do any harm to his master, whom he revered as a god, as well as a sort of fatherly figure. Tai only stayed to retreive his sword, before vanishing again, only to reappear next to Nightmare.

Crow walked over to the hill that he had been sitting on while he'd watched the others brawl. He sat down again and watched Tai and Nightmare dissappear into the distance. "Those two seemed truly consumed by the darkness, I never knew beings like that walked the earth." Crow began to contemplate why one would be so intent on using Soul Edge, the blade would bring nothing but destruction, so why would any being, good or evil, wish to possess it?
