"Milo! STOP!" Mike pleaded, ducking as the phantom swung at his face. He instinctively threw a punch in retaliation, but as usual, it passed right through him. Milo stepped forward and caught the boy's arm with his bladed fingers. Pain shot up the boy's body as the phantom wrapped his other hand around his neck. Mike clenched his teeth in anguish as Milo pulled him closer.
"I don't know why you keep fighting this." Milo said in a low voice. "When can you understand it's exactly what you want?" He shook his head. "It's like you're not even trying anymore." Both heads turned as Mitsu reached out and grabbed his arm. Milo's smile grew wider as he saw the girl's pained expression. "And she just keeps walking right to it. Like a Venomoth to the flame. She's always good for a laugh." With a quiet chuckle, Milo disappeared.
Mike quickly withdrew his hand from Mitsu's grip, not wanting to hurt her anymore than she already had. "I-I'm fine!" he snapped. "I mean, I'm as fine as I can be. I'm sorry, I-yeah. You know." He thought about telling her just what happened, but he didn't want to waste her time. "But it doesn't matter. How are you? Did you sleep well? You look much better than last night." He let out a heavy breath, rubbing his arm. Those fingers really hurt. It was like someone was stabbing him with a butcher's knife. "I just came here because I wanted to ask Sasha for some help with something." Mike's eyebrow raised when he heard a raised voice, no doubt Sasha's, cry out from the room. "I hope I wasn't...interrupting anything."

Mitsu withdrew her hand, placing it behind her back. There was no green aura only the stinging sensation of a burn. Stupid body, you never do what I want. What's the use of being a freak when it doesn't even help myself? she sneered in her thoughts, her face twisting to form a disgusted look. She hated herself, she hated what those people had made her into.
Mitsu shook her head, erasing the facial expression, she didn't want Mike to get the wrong idea. "I slept fine, I kind of just knocked out," she motioned to her clothes, all the wrinkles still there. "No nightmares either, lucky me. . ."
And then the words "last night" came crashing down on her. Mitsu's first reflex was to pull away, shrink and hide, or attack though that would have been stupid. Her flight or fight reactions were kicked into gear, and she had to try and calm herself down. She stood almost rigid, fighting back her unusually sensitive natural instincts. Breathing once again morphed from rapid to slow and calm. Mike was the only one who knew about her secret, and he would keep it safe. She trusted him.
"Sasha and Kasiya. . .are . . busy?" Mitsu tried, not really sure how to describe the situation without making it sound awkward, though her attempt really didn't work either. Mitsu turned around, rapping her knuckles against the door. "Hurry up Sasha! Mike wants to talk to you."
He's looking for Sasha, I wonder why.
Who cares, he wasn't looking for you. And we both know you wish he was.

"I gotta admit," Kilik said aloud to nobody in particular, "I'm loving the extra strength, but was it really worth losing the speed?" He tapped his foot, watching as Flareon easily dodged each of Cable's attacks. While it was worthwhile on Flareon's end, perfecting his ability to dodge, it didn't seem to help Cable. He needed a punching bag...someone that could take a lot of damage. Someone that could take blow by blow. Kilik snapped his fingers. "I got it! Flareon, come back!" he whistled.
The fox skidded to a halt and ran over to Kilik, looking up at him, swishing his tail. "Flaaa?" he found himself being picked up and he nuzzled his trainer's neck.
"Good job, Flareon. You're really improving! Certainly the fastest Flareon I've ever seen!" He let the fox scamper onto his shoulder. "Cable, I have a new partner for you to train with!" He pulled a Pokeball off of his belt and let it fly.
He was free! Free from the ball! And now it was hot. Really hot. He wanted to go back in the ball. "Weeeezing..." he groaned, looking around with his four eyes. They were in a volcano! Why!? He spun around and looked at Kilik, whining. Then his second, smaller head, caught sight of Electivire and he froze. "Weez!" he cried out. A ball of sludge slowly seeped out of one of his holes and plopped with a 'squish' on the arena floor.
"Weezing," Kilik laughed, placing his hand on the purple ball of gas, patting him. "It's just Cable! You're going to train with him, okay?" he smiled, "You're my best defender! You can certainly take a punch, right?!" He cheered when Weezing gave him a very brave, very affirmative nod. "Alright! You defend yourself as you need to, because Cable isn't going to let up on his attacks okay?"
"WEEZ!" He nodded. Wait...what? Before he knew it, he felt a full strength Thunderpunch sock him straight in the face. He spiraled through the air, sludge plopping out of his body. He floated in place and looked down. Well! He was going to fight thunder with thunder! "Weeeeez..." he body began to crackle and he let loose a Thunderbolt! Though it felt like if he had hair, it would be standing on end.
Cable stood his ground and unfurled his long tails, curving them over his shoulders. He smirked as he took the blow from the Thunderbolt, absorbing every bit of the energy through his cables. The two L.E.Ds began to flash more erratically now and he felt a little lighter on his feet. The Electivire jumped back a few feet and watched as Weezing hovered down closer to his level. He broke into a run, running faster than he ever had as an Electabuzz and slammed another Thunderpunch into the purple creature.
"Whoa!" Kilik's eyes widened, "That's incredible! He's so fast now!" He raised an eyebrow, "How did that happen? He was slow until..." he laughed, "Weezing hit him with a Thunderbolt! Haha!"
Hit him with a Thunderbolt? Well, alright, whatever. He let loose another blast of electricity in the form of a bolt straight towards Cable.
He once again took in the electric energy and converted it into another Speed boost. Now the lights on his tails were glowing, pulsing with a soft red glow. He dashed from side to side to showcase his newfound speed and hit Weezing hard with a Brick Break.
"The move wasn't very effective," Kilik said, calling for both of his Pokemon to come over to him. Cable was there in a blink of an eye, while Weezing slowly drifted over. "Good job. Cable, that speed boost of yours is insane!" he laughed, "Weezing...let's not attack Cable with Thunderbolt anymore, okay?" The Gas Pokemon nodded. The boy wiped some sweat from his brow. He wondered what was taking Mike so long?

"Hoot! Hoothoot!" Crash! Jett's eyes snapped open.
"..." The morning (or possibly afternoon) entertainment seemed to be an all-out duel between a one-footed owl and a very, very angry butterfly. River was still asleep, or pretending to be. Jett nudged her and nodded to the two Pokemon.
There was a green and white blur, dancing between the two egos before firmly shoving them apart. The look in River's eyes warded off any nasty intention to continue fighting.
"So this is our new teammate," Jett muttered, glancing between Hoothoot and Aerosmith. "How did you two even get out...? If we trash this room, we're screwed." Aerosmith was less than pleased with the new addition, knowing that he would get less time to fight. "You need to like, calm down. Not going to stop using you. You can become buddies and all of that... but we need to be a team, okay?"
Resigned to accepting this probably crippled owl as a teammate, Aerosmith sadly nodded. And then reminded himself to ask this new one how exactly she lost her foot... Before he could make an utter fool of himself, he was recalled along with River and their nick-nameless friend.
"Time to get healed up," Jett hummed, trying to make sure nothing was too damaged. No holes in the wall and one lamp was knocked over. Nice to know... the trainer thought with a rueful smile as he made his way to the lobby and the counter.
"Good morning! How may I help you?" Nurse Joy chirped.
"Can you heal my Pokemon, please?" Jett awkwardly set the Pokeballs on the counter. "And, um, I just caught my Hoothoot... and I don't have a Pokedex..." He tried to ignore how hard he failed at the moment. "...So could you um, tell me the Hoothoot's gender and level, please?"
"Sure!" Nurse Joy placed the Pokeballs in that large, clunky-looking machine and Jett watched it do its thing. Then, she moved the Pokeballs over to a computer looking thing and began to type. Her voice was still cheery when she replied, "Your Hoothoot is female and level 14!"
"Great, thank you," Jett said with all the gratefulness he could muster. Asking that is so awkward... He collected his healed Pokemon and headed right for the computer to research moves, placing the Pokeballs on the desk.

For a moment or so Kasiya thought she would become seasick from Sasha's rapid, jerky bobbing and at one point she lifted her head to stare at the pink-haired girl incredulously, not entirely sure what was wrong with her. Sasha sounded as though she was being electrocuted, and enjoying it and it was slightly unnerving for the blonde girl, mostly as she wasn't even sure of what she'd done. She was about to ask if Sasha was all right, but the girl seemed to snap out of it just then. Kasiya couldn't help but feel a little better knowing that she wasn't the only one that was scared of their upcoming mission. Though she could thoroughly relate to the majority of what Sasha was saying, she still had a hard time hearing some of it, even flinching a little when Sasha mentioned Keegan's name. Even though she'd realized she was frightened of him (or more precisely, his temper), she didn't want to see anything happen to him. Kasiya could feel the doubt starting to well up in her chest and she tried to fight it off. Sasha was right about one thing: he wasn't going to face Team Magma alone.
She'd been about to say something in reply when there was a sharp knock at the door, and she heard Mitsu's voice calling them. She was reluctant to get up and she did so hesitantly, giving Sasha's hand a gentle squeeze as she did so. "We'll be okay, as long as we all stick together," she said cheerfully, smoothing the wrinkles out of her night gown. "I know it." Seto hadn't really moved from his sunny spot on the floor, despite the noise and commotion in the room, and Kasiya fumbled for his Pokeball and recalled him, hoping he'd recovered from his battle with the Muk last night. She fastened the sphere back into its place on her belt before grabbing her bag and pulling out a clean set of clothes. Deciding it was useless to try and be modest around Sasha she yanked off her nightgown and dressed herself, still not entirely sure why the pink-haired girl was always swooning over her. She brushed out her hair, smiling when she saw how much it had grown since she'd cut it. It was long enough to pull back now, and she did just that, braiding the end of it while leaving some of it free to frame the sides of her face. She tried to smile at her appearance, but she couldn't even fool herself. "We can do this," she murmured quietly. "This is just another day at the office."
=-=-=-=-= That's gonna hurt, Jake thought, wincing as he watched the Mach Punch land a fairly solid blow to Bidoof's side. He was a little surprised to see that her Rollout had managed to inflict a bit of damage as well, but he figured it would take a lot more than that to bring down Ace. The mouse Pokemon cried out, using all her willpower to remain in ball-form. The hit had slowed her momentum some but she kept it up. She could feel her rage subsiding slowly, meaning the Taunt had started to wear off, but that didn't mean she still wasn't going to do her best. She had a point to prove, after all! With a sharp growl she hurtled towards Ace for a third pass, bits of dirt being kicked up in her wake.
"That's the way, Bidoof, don't give up!" Jake cheered, clapping his hands. As impressed as he was with the brown fuzzball of a Pokemon, he couldn't help but feel guilty mainly due to the fact that, according to Robin, he had other Pokemon somewhere out there in the world, and he had no idea where or who they were. Did they miss him? Had he invested a lot of time training them, too? He sighed and continued to watch the match even as Turtwig let himself out of his Pokeball. As much as he hated fighting, he didn't want to feel left out and he nudged Jake's leg. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get a turn too," the boy said, kneeling down to pat the Tiny Leaf Pokemon on the head.

”Yo, Rajasi!” Moti said with a wave as he and Claire entered into the Pokemon Center. It seemed to have thinned out, but the place was still rather busy. Chansey were bustling this way and that way along with several Nurses. It seemed the Contest had drawn in extra resources from somewhere. “We’re heading out, unless you all want to watch tonight’s contest. The mission isn’t so important that we have to miss interesting events like that.”
”I think I’d prefer if we just go going. It’ll take a while to walk to the Institute and it’s already the afternoon. We’ll be pressed to make it there before sundown.” Claire added with a sigh. It seemed like things were always pulling this trio off track.
”All the more reason to postpone it till tomorrow.” Moti said with a grin. “By the way, I’ve found a wonderful little café/hotel that will rent us out some rooms if we want to stay. I lucked out at lunch with that Amy girl and found out from the owner that there were still three beds left. The accomodations are pretty nice, and the owner is pretty cute.” Moti said with a sly wink to Rajasi.
“It seems you put a lot of thought into this.” Rajasi said, ignoring Moti's comment and setting aside the newspaper he was reading before the crew came back. “That’s fine with me. This way we won’t get lost or have to camp out and we can do a little bit more training.”
”Well, it’s decided then! I’ll show you to the Café. It’s just around the corner actually. A quaint little place called the Luidicolo Lotus.” Moti narrated as the group made their way out of the Pokemon Center. "It does this schtick where the Ludicolo dance and serve food to customers, and it's got one of my favorite flowers in the name."

Team Scarlet strolled into the center’s lobby, collective eyes half lowered from sheer drowsiness. “Wah. I’m still tired… Can’t we like… Just wait like, an hour or so? It’s not that long, Cindy…” Scarlet glanced down at the yawning Cyndaquil beside him.
No, Captain Lazy, she thought to herself as she sat down and rubbed her eyes. For once, her back was free of the flickering flames. With a sigh, she shook head, then looked at the pokeball at his side. “Quil?”
“Huh?” Scarlet glanced at the sphere the contained his new friend. “Oh. Him. We’re uh… Not gonna let him out until he has a target. He sorta creeps me out.”
With a relieved sigh, Cindy started to head for the door, but of course, she didn’t make it that far. She heard her trainer’s footsteps stop. “… Quil?”
Scarlet’s pitch black eyes were locked onto a black haired kid standing next to a computer with pokeballs on the desk next to him. And, with the subtlety of a guided nuclear strike delivered by a blazing death rocket, he decided to issue his challenge. “… Hey! Kid! You, next to the computer! You wanna battle!?”
Cindy grinned at the prospect. She hadn’t had a good fight in ages. Well. Hours. And most of that time, she was sleeping. But that didn’t stop her from squeeing.

Hypnosis... Peck... Uproar... is that the move those Whismur used...? The screaming thing... Jett was pleased that his new Hoothoot seemed so useful. And I have the perfect name for her...!
And then some kid was screaming across the lobby for a battle.
Jett made no immediate reaction. He didn't even look toward the opposing trainer, but that fiery red hair was clear from his peripheral vision. He collected his Pokeballs, attatched them to his belt, and faced the other trainer.
"Of course," Jett said with a daunting grin. "I'm Jett and it's nice to meet you, uh..." Do not refer to him as ginger unless you really do not like him. "...Well, you can tell me your name soon!"

“SWEET. Thanks! I’m Scarlet! Let’s take it outside!” There was nothing like a duel right after waking up. Scarlet even began to wonder why he didn’t wait at pokemon centers to get more battles in. Then he realized just how creepy it was. “…duh.” He shook his head, marching outside, Cindy right on his heels.
After waiting for the boy to follow, Scarlet decided to go on ahead and propose rules. “I’ve only got two pokemon, so is a two on two match okay?”
Cindy grinned at the prospect of her future victory, the battle that she was about to win for Scarlet.
“Hold off, Cindy. You’re up second round, okay?”
“Quil!” she cried, sulking as she inched back behind Scarlet, huffing and folding her tiny little arms. In the mean time, Scarlet drew a pokeball from his side, releasing his brand new Gastly.
“Hiya, Terumi. Are you ready to battle? You totally need the stress relief…”
The gas slowly congealed into its main body, eyelids half lowered as his beady eyes rolled back to look at Scarlet. It slowly looked back toward Jett, waiting with mild annoyance for him to release the target.

Jett followed, mentally recording info on this guy. He probably knew the region better than Jett, and if he was somewhat cool, they could be friends. "M'kay," Jett agreed to the two Pokemon rule. River'll be my second... let her get a good understanding of her new form.
Then Scarlet brought out that thing that Leon had. Jett inwardly sighed, but shook his head some. He would stay positive! "Athena, let's show 'em what you're made of!" He tossed the Pokeball into the air, summoning the Hoothoot. She was highly unamused.
And then she saw Terumi. Slowly, Athena's head tilted to the side and her eyes impossibly widened. Then she let out a shrill, "Hoot!" and leaned forward. She wasn't going to take any crap from this ghost, that was for sure.

“Woooow, karma hates you, huh, Terumi?” Scarlet said with a frown. He wasn’t exactly a genius, but he was decently well versed in typing advantages. And he knew that attacking normal types with ghost moves was pretty useless. “… Well, we’d might as well take a shot in the dark. Use Hypnosis.”
Almost immediately, Terumi’s eyes took on a violet tint, and several rings of psychic energy darted in toward the Hoothoot. Terumi’s full intention was an unconscious owl to utterly destroy. With what, he had no clue, but hell. He really didn’t like his situation, and he sure as hell wanted to take it out on someone.

"Athena, uh--" Then Athena sort of shook her head/body and stood there. As the rings came into contact, her eyes fluttered closed. "..." And they snapped right open, beaming at Terumi with the upmost alertness. "...What." The Hoothoot stared to her trainer, rolling her eyes, as if to say 'Just give me a command already.'
"...I feel like such a jerk," Jett said, glancing away. "But um. Peck! Yeah! That's one of your moves!" Athena nodded and turned back to her current opponent, the seriousness of her stare capable of burning a hole through buildings. With another shrill cry, she lurched forward using all her might.
The Hoothoot unfortunately landed a foot closer to the gas ball, and glared up at it. So she hopped forward a little more, flapping her little wings, and inched closer. I need to learn how to fly... Athena thought with great annoyance. But then she stared right at the Gastly and abruptly shot forward, launching herself like a cannonball. "Hoothoot!" Wahahaha, phantom! I have lured you into a false sense of security. I hope your surprise stings as much as this.
"...What," Jett repeated with a dull sense of surprise, because there was no way some descending ninja bird that ambushed him last night would ever be able to move that awfully. But the look on her face almost held some sense of pride as her beak tried to skewer (or really, poke sharply) the Ghost-type.

“… Gastly.” What. Terumi’s eye started twitching. He grimaced, glaring angrily at the Hoothoot.
“… That looked like it worked. Why didn’t it work.” Scarlet frowned, focusing hard on the strangely alert Athena. At that point, it launched toward Terumi like a bullet. For like, a foot. Terumi’s grimace inverted, while Scarlet raised an eyebrow.
Then it hopped forward a few more inches. Terumi started chuckling. “Gastly!” Hah hah hah! There is no way you can really be that-
At that point, Athena sprung forward like a missile, beak first in what Terumi assumed was a tackle. Which, incidentally, was a move that couldn’t hurt him. So, he didn’t bother budging. He just sat there, eyes narrowing and grin widening.
Scarlet, however, noticed that it was a lunge. A beak first lunge. From a bird. “THAT’S A PECK. MOVE, IT’S A PECK.”
Unfortunately, it was too late. Athena tore through Gastly like a katana swooshing through air. He let out a growl as his body completely dissipated into a purple haze before refocusing. He looked less than thrilled.
“Okay, Terumi? Can we maybe, not like. Sit there and get hit again? Cause it’s sorta embarrassing for all of us involved. Come on back. Cindy’ll handle it.” Scarlet sighed as Cindy ran out in Terumi’s place. The Gastly hovered back over to his trainer, shooting both Athena and Cindy a rather nasty glare as he did so.
Cindy was thrilled to be back in battle, a blaze heating up on her back as she flashed a grin at Athena. “Quil!”

When Keegan opened his eyes again, it was light outside. He was still lying flat on his stomach and his aching body told him that he hadn't moved since he'd flopped down on the bed the night before. Groaning, the redhead lazily pulled himself into a sitting position and took a quick look around the empty room. Kilik was already up and gone, and for a moment he pondered the idea that he'd overslept and the gang had left without him. Just like that 'Home Alone' kid, he thought sleepily as he groped around the floor for his shoes, which had somehow mysteriously ended up underneath the bed, and so much so that he actually had to get down on his hands and knees to retrieve them. He secured his belt of PokeBalls around his waist and slid his arms into his jacket, a little glad to find that the more he moved around, the less everything seemed to hurt. He turned to leave the room, pausing in front of the mirror. Even though he'd slept (somewhat) well, he still looked like hell. He grumbled as he swept his red hair aside to study the split in his forehead from his fall the night before, feeling a chill creep up his spine as Mai's voice haunted his memory. "I need a vacation," he grumbled, finally tearing his gaze away from his haggard reflection.
The door locked behind him and Keegan pulled the key card from his pocket, wondering what was wrong with good, old-fashioned keys as he made his way to the lobby to return the seemingly valuable piece of plastic. The receptionist didn't even look up as he slapped the card down on the desk in front of her, and for a moment the redhead stood there stupidly, not sure what he was supposed to do now. Maybe they really did leave without me, he thought, his stomach suddenly grumbling as he caught the scent of coffee in the air. Deciding his first course of action would be to obtain some sort of nourishment, Keegan followed his nose to the cafeteria. He'd fully been expecting to see someone he knew there, but no familiar faces could be seen in the few patrons milling about.
"...Whatever," he muttered under his breath as he poured some weak-looking coffee into a styrofoam cup. He looked over the various food items that had been laid out, finding that nothing seemed overly appetizing, save for a large basket of donuts and other breakfast pastries that had been set out nearby. He casually looked around a few times before glancing towards the door; it was all-clear. Without a moment's hesitation he swiftly reached out and grabbed the basket, resisting the urge to yell "Yoink!" as he did so. He tucked it under his arm so as to not to crush his purloined prize and made a beeline for the door, pretending that he didn't hear the annoyed shouts from several people behind him as he headed outside. ===== Miharu smiled and tucked a lock of green hair behind her ear. She couldn't argue against Sam's logic; having someone tagging along would probably make things far more interesting. And, of course, she still wanted to help Sam get stronger, as well. She glanced at her two Pokemon, giving them each a gentle pet before she recalled them both into their Pokeballs. "You're right, we can't have you going off and getting yourself into trouble now, can we?" She smoothed out the wrinkles of her dress and looked back to Sam. "So, what should we do today then?" she asked. "We could always head to Violet City and you could challenge Falkner. Or, we could do some more training. Or something. I don't mind."

Jett felt really bad at this point. He wanted to hug the poor Gastly. But then it would hurt him... "I like your reaction time," he said to Scarlet, smirking a little. Then his eyes widened. This must be his main Pokemon... and this one could probably hit Athena.
"So um, let's try that..." He was torn between Peck and Uproar again. Uproar brought back horrible memories, but it seemed like a good move... Let's take a third option! "Hypnosis! Yeah, that!"
Athena was basking in her short-lived victory when she noticed her new opponent. A fire mouse. This one seemed familiar to her... Unknowing of Cindy's now infamous (among the current wild Hoothoot population, anyway) status as a Hoothoot slayer, she hopped forward. Her eyes began to glow. "Hoot!" You will not defeat me.
And the Hoothoot let loose a series of red rings, beaming for the opposing Cyndaquil. Jett briefly wished for sound effects, but settled for seeing if they could get their fiery little friend to take a nap.
