Again, were any parents involved when you were courting me? Aria asked. Our daughter is happy and with the man she's suppose to be with, she squeezed his hoof in reassurance. All is well.
Valzar wrapped his arm around her waist, "But you're not doing anything like that again. I could not bare it."

Gregori smiled at Aria, once again she was right. Forgive me for not wanting to give our children up. "You take good care of her?"
Callista frowned. "Of course he takes good care of me. Would I be in the state I am if he didn't?" She stopped and covered her mouth, finding the ground again with her eyes. "Oops..."

"The state you're..." it took only Aria half a second to understand. "Ohhh!" she pulled her daughter back into a hug. "I'm going to be a grandmother! Congratulations darling! And you too Valzar!"
"Um...thank you," Valzar managed quietly still staying close to Callista.

If it were possible for Gregori to get any paler, he did. "You...what? But..." His eyes traveled over Valzar again. "You waist no time. Just how long have you been seeing my daughter?"
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Neither one of us knows anything about what to expect when you're expecting, so we thought we'd ask you two to see if there was anything we needed to do special or differently." Callista chattered happily, ignoring her father's question.

"We've known each other since we were both young," Valzar said quietly. "I only began to understand what it meant to be her lifemate recently."
"Gregori, you are happy to be a grandfather, are you not?" Aria asked turning back to her lifemate. Please, darling, she needs reassurance now.

Gregori smiled, only half forced, and reached to clasp Valzar's forearm in greeting. "Of course I am happy to be a grandfather, Ma Chere. It is a little unexpected, but joyus news nonetheless."
Callista grinned again cheerily. "Thank you Daddy!" She hugged him quickly. Daddy's offering you his arm. That means he likes you. She whispered to Valzar. "Four. Two males and two females. We're, well, I'm very excited. Valzar's still in shock I think."

Anything for you, Ma Chere. And our family, of course. Two sons and two daughters! I hope you won't keep us from them. I am sure your mother would love to dote on them. And I must help Valzar train the boys." He nodded firmly, his smile becoming less and less forced. They are sure to be strapping boys. I am finding myself more than a little excited to be a part of their lives.
"Daddy, you have to let Valzar have some of the fun." She smiled and kissed Valzar's cheek. "So is there anything that we need to change in order to help them make it here?"

"Don't mind him," Aria said shaking her head. "He's just dying to train someone since we only had one son..."

"Well...you know that our children run the risk of not living...they are not able to eat the same way we do...And there is a risk that your body will reject them, my daughter. Many things are at risk...but you will be fine. Your mother and I will help you all we can."
As Callista listened to her father the joy began to fade. "Is there no hope for them?" She turned her head back into Valzar's chest. You were right...they are doomed before they even get started...

Callista... Valzar gently pulled her into his arms and did his best to comfort her. Do not think that. You are strong, so am I...and if they are like me, like my family, they'll be even stronger that we can imagine. So don't worry, they'll be fine...
Aria shot a glare at Gregori, "No, there is more than enough hope for them. You know yourself that all of my children are perfectly fine..."

"I will not hide the truth from her, Aria. It is sad and heartbreaking, but it is still the truth." He placed a hoof on her shoulder, "Do not worry so, my daughter, it is not as bad as it seems. We will just have to take special care that you do not overdo anything. And make sure that you keep telling those little ones that you care for them and love them. Give them a reason to live. Do not let them be scared for one second, my daughter. And when you get further along, please let Valzar help you with things. I do not want to risk these babies any more than you."
"They at least have a chance to be ok?" Callista asked weakly as she peered out from the shelter of Valzar.
"They have more than a chance. I will see to it that they will be fine...Just as I am sure your lifemate will."
