Swimming out further, Brody came up every few moments for a breath before diving back under. He had nearly made it across the entire lake before, as he was coming up for air, he noticed a glimmer of something. Rushing quickly to the surface, he took another quick breath and swam that direction. Seeing the reflection of light grow larger and larger, Brody surfaced again before taking a deep breath, packing the air as he had been taught, and diving deep. Coming up to the wall of shimmering-ness, he reached out to touch it, and was surprised when his arms passed right through. Always one to take risks in hope of gain, he pushed the rest of the way through without much more thought, and was surprised to find himself in warm, breathable air.

.Majestic.Sock.Puppet. ((Hey guys, it's Lawdy. Changed my username. ^_^ You guys like?))Rowan's face was unreadable - though he inwardly smirked at the older girl's fear. He assumed she was older by her larger size, at least. Instead, Rowan fixed his gaze on the smaller girl, honey eyes warm but detached. His hands moved from his back around to stick his thumbs in his belt and he peered at Serene, evaluating her worth slowly. "This is our castle. Mine, and Master Bran's. I believe you've already met him. And this," Rowan twisted to wave an arm around the garden, "is our garden. Bran especially does not take kindly to those who trespass in it. You must forgive Master Bran for his behavior earlier. We are... unaccustomed to visitors - and Bran is still very much a child at heart." Rowan's gaze turned suddenly sharp and hard, his back straightened and his pose grew formal and distant. Lilo's head snapped to stare at both girls, her own gaze equal to Rowan's. "It is, however, not your place to ask such questions - as you are the... guests. I must, however, ask what you are doing here." Rowan's rich baritone voice sounded dark and powerful. Not unkind, but not kind at the same time - stern and unbending.
Serene had the urge to step back when the two beings' demeanors changed, but she stopped herself partially because to do so would show a weakness to these men, though perhaps they would not feel so threatened had they believed the girls weak. So Serene held her ground and thought of some response that the two in front of her would hopefully accept and perhaps not kick them out for.
"Well, we were exploring our lake and we came upon this place and we were... curious so we stumbled in. We didn't think anybody lived here." She spoke slightly uncertainly.
Suddenly remembering that they hadn't actually introduced themselves, she hastily added, "Oh, by the way, I am known as Serene, and this is Breeze." She held out her hand to him, unsure whether he'd take it after such a long time after meeting and the not so nice feelings between the man and Breeze and herself but it didn't hurt to try.

Loen mutters something to himself, frowning slightly at nothing in particular as he stares absently at the water's surface, ripples caused by Caellynn's plunge circling outwards. Without removing jacket, boots of equipment, her steps out into the water and walks along the sandy bottom 'til he's out to his shoulders. Then he pushes off, slow, powerful movements propelling him after the two girls, towards the center of the lake. He seems to be breathing easily as he does so. Dry hair hand clothes would indicate the water doesn't quite touch him.

((Oh, Serene - don't forget that the daemon at Rowan's side looks like a normal dog. Perhaps it looks a little smarter than most dogs, and her behavior is a little strange, but there's really no indication that she's not a dog. ^_^ ))
Rowan nodded slightly at the mention of their names. He took Serene's offered hand - they must certainly be from a different world with their strange behaviors, but then, so was Bran before he and Rowan met. He knew the hand was offered for a shake, but Rowan didn't shake - not even with men. He instead gave the traditional greeting men give to women of higher rank in his culture, whether Serene was of higher rank or not.
His fingers closed lightly over her small hand, his fingers warm and rough, holding her hand palm down. He bowed over it then, allowing his forehead to just barely touch her hand before pulling out of the bow and letting her hand go. His hands clasped once more behind his back formally.
"Very well, Miss Serene and Miss Breeze," they had such odd names, Rowan almost paused over them. He knew he'd have to repeat their names a number of times before he'd remember them - they were even odder than Bran's name, to him. "My name is Rowan Makai. You may call me Master Makai, Lord Makai, or simply Mister Makai, whichever is most comfortable for you." Rowan's gaze shifted from girl to girl, considering the pair.
Lilo stared away at something from afar, her attention decidedly fixed elswhere. "It is only myself, Master Bran, and Lilo living in the castle - thus our... callowness... at recieving company."
Rowan - my canine senses are tingling. Lilo suddenly stared up at Rowan with large eyes - her powerful sense of smell had picked up a new scent - brought by the wind from not a terribly long way off. Rowan's attention was immediately captivated, and his gaze shot to the same spot Lilo's own stare was directed at. The two guests were instantly put aside for this greater threat, this greater importance. Had they led this new visitor here? Or was this entity completely seperate from the two girls?

Shocked momentarily, Brody quickly regained a sense of balance. Pressing he back up against the wall of water for a moment, he took a quick look at his surroundings, and cursed silently at having left his sword and gun on the beach.

Bran dimly heard the names of the two visitors. Serene and Breeze. Interesting names. As he continued to watch, he noticed the shift in attention of Rowan and his daemon and he looked to that direction as well, following their gazes. He stood and made his way in that direction towards, what he then saw, the new arrival. He was curious, but he decided he would not take action at the moment, just observe from afar. Or from nearby but not nearby enough to be noticed. After seeing the newcomer, a male this time, he pulls a cloak around him and seems to disappear into the shadows, watching.

((Yeah. I know. I just didn't feel like writing 'the man and the dog's demeanor' so I stuck them both into one group as beings.))
Serene was momentarily surprised at Rowan's greeting but she regained her balance and went along. Often in the past had she encountered new forms of greetings and she'd learned to take it in stride. She repeated his name, and the other names he spoke, quietly, beneathe her breathe to remember them. 'Rowan Makai. Bran. Lilo.' She smiled brightly at the two and was about to speak when she noticed their attention fixed elsewhere. She followed their gaze and, seeing nothing herself, focused inward to try to sense what it was that had so completely taken their attention away from herself and her sister.
She felt the presence of another within the barrier and others outside but decidedly approaching the barrier. She did not recognize some of the presences. She did recognize Arianna, from their previous encounters and slightly Loen from her brief exploration as a cat on land. She did not recognize the man now within the barrier nor the second girl who followed Arianna into the waters. She wondered briefly at their identities and then a little longer as to their purpose for coming towards this place, or even better, how they knew it was here when she herself hadn't known of it til a little bit ago, for they obviously knew what they were looking for, or rather where they were looking for.
She then processed that Rowan, Bran, and Lilo could interpret the approach of other outsiders in a very bad way and her mind raced to find some type of explaination as to the new visitors. But she could not, for the life of her, come up with anything as she did not, as of yet, know why they were coming here either.

Breeze noticed the man's hesitation in saying their names, and wondered about this man who seemed to find them so odd. He must not have many visitors here she mused, and watched his strange greeting with open curiosity, having never seen this particular greeting before, and wondering where he came from. As he gave his name and the names of the others, she mentally placed the names with the faces and set them to memory.
As his attention shifted from them, Breeze wondered what had caught his attention, looked, and saw nothing. Seeing Serene space off, she realized that whatever had caught their attention was way too far for her to perceive. She considered asking what was wrong, but decided that Mister Makai would probably not answer, having not known them for long and being unable to ascertain whether they were trustworthy or not, and Serene would probably not even noticed. Instead, she just stood patiently and waited for Serene to break out of her reverie.

*Swimming behind Arianna, she notices a faint shimmer in the water, and wonders what it is and whether that shimmer is their destination. Going to the surface for air, she notices that the shimmer is not above the lake either, and that it seems to make a sort of dome in the water. Treading water while thinking, sheeventually goes back under water to continue following Arianna*

Arianna approached the shimmery area of the lake slightly cautiously. she was apprehensive about this unknown place, but her worry for Serene kept her moving towards it. She stopped before going in and saw through that Brody was on the other side all in one piece and apparently in fine physical condition, though mental condition was always questionable. she put a hand through first and was only semi surprised, after her observation of Brody, that there was no water on the other side. She took a deep breathe, mentally and stepped through the barrier slightly behind Brody. She looked around her in wonderment, taking in the surroundings.
"Well, now this is interesting."
