Keira wandered the darkest shadows of the subway, making her way carefully on four legs. She shouldn't have been there and she knew it, but underground was the fastest way to navigate the city as long as one had the layout memorized, which she did. In fact, she had been down in the tunnels several times before without getting caught, but she could never be too careful. Her green-gold gaze glowed slightly in the dim light as it swept the area before she hurried to the next shadow. She just prayed that her feathery black fur would be enough to hide her.

Ahead, she heard voices and froze. It was rare that she had encountered anyone else in the tunnels, but apparently she had chosen a bad time to head to a different part of the city. Still, the voices made her curious, and she wondered what they were talking about. In the end, curiosity got the better of her and she did her best to listen in on the conversation as she hid.

By the scent, Keira could guess that they were Lycans. She wasn't too worried about being caught by them; compared to her, they were clumsy on their feet...or paws. Whatever. She didn't care as long as she was confident she could outrun them.

When she thought about it, Keira hadn't been very careful at hiding her scent. She figured she subconsciously thought that the stench of the subway would mask it. The stench wasn't toxic like the city sewers, but it still burned her sensitive nose enough to assume that the same had happened to anyone else down there. She had thought wrong.

Crawling carefully from the shadows, Keira approached the two Lycans slowly. She wasn't sure whether to believe them or not, but they didn't seem too threatening. Once she was just a few yards away, she quickly shifted form to a slight, pretty young girl with feathery jet black hair falling to about her mid-back, just below her shoulder blades. Her green-gold gaze still glowed faintly, but that wasn't her most noticeable feature. Since the two werewolves already knew what she was, there was no sense in hiding her true appearance. Large, black, tufted ears replaced human ears and a long feathery tail could be seen swaying back in forth with nervousness as she edged closer. She didn't let it show otherwise, and wore an empty expression that gave nothing away. She remained silent, awaiting the consequences of revealing herself.

Keira recognized the name. She must have heard it passing, but she didn't know anything about what the Lycan was talking about. She had been down there before and never heard it called anything. Not that she cared. She had no business with any of the racial 'politics', per say, that others seemed to delve in. She didn't care for war or fighting. She simply strove to survive, which is why she couldn't bring herself to trust anyone, even when they offered no threat.

However, Keira couldn't help but be amused at the younger werewolf's attempt to ignore her presence. In fact, a slight grin cracked the blank mask she wore. She knew he was equally wary of her as she was him, but she knew that her appearance must have been dazzling, especially to a young male. She wouldn't let herself fall for the same feelings.

Turning her attention back to the older of the two, she finally considered allowing a little trust. After all, she couldn't fall for anything they might try to pull. She was one of illusions and could easily escape whenever she needed by trickery of the mind. Besides, these two were two of the first to even try to show her some hospitality, even if it was in the bleak underground world of the massive city. "Keira Ceinlys," she said simply, leaving them to figure out what exactly she was telling them.

Keira tilted her head slightly. She didn't understand what he meant by saying he was human. "You still have the st...scent of Lycan on you, though..." she murmured. The concept of one of the nonhuman races becoming human was almost mind boggling, and she wasn't sure she wanted to know what happened. At the same time, she was curious, like a cat.

Keira fidgeted uncomfortably. She didn't like this at all, and had other things to do. Besides, she was hungry and she had to get something and get back to safety before the sun rose and humans began to swarm the streets like rats, once more. She never enjoyed risking humans slipping past her illusions, and stayed in the shelter of safety as best she could in the dog-eat-dog city. "If you have no business with me, I'll be leaving," she commented, and turned with every intention of leaving. At that particular moment, her stomach protested, reminding her how long it had been since she'd had something decent to eat, and she flushed bright red, let her emotions seep through and shatter the mask she had so carefully placed.

Keira never thought she would find herself in a position like this, but she had to accept his offer. The only thing she had eaten recently was a couple of candy bars she had managed to 'acquire' in her last trip into the streets, and if she didn't get something soon, she'd likely collapse from hunger. After all, living alone without a home wasn't an easy life. Keira nodded. "I'll accept," she replied. Her blush was fading, but her embarrassment prevented her from looking directly at either of them.

Keira hesitated to follow. She still didn't like the idea at all, but she had to go along. However, an odd feeling sparked inside her as well, one of longing and at the same time not. She couldn't remember having felt it, even though all she could remember was the past seven years of her life. She couldn't quite figure out what it was either, like a word on the tip of her tongue. With a sigh, she headed after them.

Thudding steps echoed dowing the railways of the empty subway. He was back and was curious about what state things were in. He hoped all the old people he knew were dead or gone but figured that a few of them would still be needlessly clinging to the pathetic purgatory called life. He hated this planet he hated this town but no matter how he tried somehow it kept drawing him back. With a yawn that ended in a long drawn out sigh. Diego made his way towards the exit of the subway into New York. "I hate this place." His face curled into a hideous smile as he remembered.

Kara was happy when the aubway train finally came. She got on and waited to get off at the right stop. Finally it got to the one near Central Park and she got off. She stretched again before going out to the city.
