Sam that usually jolly Ampharos now had a an irritated look on her face, and Sam without a thought recalled Star, who blew kisses as she entered her Pokeball. Sam shook her head. "You idiot," she mumbled to the Pokeball. Why did Star need to be such a diva? So much for social interaction.

"Mind if I tag along?" Sam asked without thinking. Her eyes widened. "Sorry, I'm inviting myself along. That's rude. It's up to you, of course," Sam said, her voice slightly apologetic. She really did want to tag along with Miharu, but Miharu would be training with her much stronger Pokemon, she probably wouldn't want Sam dragging her down all the time. Maybe Sam could walk back to Goldenrod and meet up with Kya once more if Miharu wanted to continue on her own.

To be honest, there weren’t many options that Gardenia had left. Roserade was getting a bit tired, especially after having fought that pesky bird earlier. But that didn’t mean she was going to give up! “Another Weather Ball!” the fearless leader called forth. A simple Flamethrower from a standing point on the ground was definitely not going to cut it, not in a gym battle that’s for sure.

Roserade once more gathered the air from her surroundings before launching the ball into the oncoming pillar of fire. The red and orange sizzled and crackled as the ball of wind tore through it, once again splitting it in half, both arcing around the curve of the Weather Ball and flying past the Bouquet Pokemon. A few stray flames managed to escape, though the Grass type easily sidestepped to avoid them.

The fire was a steady stream, wearing away at the Weather Ball considerably, but Gardenia did not have any doubt that it would make its way through fine. Like Turtwig, this Roserade was the daughter of one of her most powerful Pokemon, ones that were far too strong for the regulated levels of a Gym battle. The leader smiled, having full faith not only in her Pokemon but in her opponent as well. She liked the girl and her spunk.

Gardenia smiled, her wet hair still clinging to her face, droplets falling from her locks. She was expecting something marvelous from Katie and her Monferno Genki and she hoped that they would live up to that expectation. They’d have to if they wanted her Forest Badge!

Kasiya held back another choked sob and nodded meekly, not even bothering to protest as she felt her feet leave the ground. Despite her earlier feelings of fear towards the redhead, she felt strangely calm and at ease as he carried her out of the Pokemon Center. She whimpered a little and buried her face in his shoulder, focusing the redhead's scent and the sound of his breathing. She wasn't entirely sure, but she thought that she'd dozed off a couple of times along the way, though she became sure of it when she was jostled awake as Keegan fumbled through the front doors of the inn. "Hmm?" she mumbled, still half asleep as she lifted her head to look around. "Oh. Uh, I think I can get there on my own," she said, forcing a smile. "You can put me down now."

Jake watched the Monferno closely, realizing pretty quickly that both of his Pokemon would be bad match-ups against the Fire and Fighting-type. Grass was weak to fire for very obvious reasons, but somewhere in the back of his mind he knew a Normal-type like Bidoof wouldn't stand up well against Ace's Fighting-type attacks, but this wasn't a real battle and he trusted Robin not to go overboard and cause his Pokemon unnecessary harm. "Well, let's give this a try then," he murmured finally before he released Bidoof.

The Plump Mouse Pokemon appeared in a flash of light, blinking her beady little eyes as she studied the situation. She quickly noticed the Monferno from earlier and quirked an eyebrow. So she'd be battling against her previous ally? She could deal with that. She gave a little grunt and got into a defensive stance, ready to rumble.

'Now's our chance,' Katie thought, having expected Gardenia to counter this Flamethrower in the same way she had the last. The Weather Ball split the Flamethrower cleanly in two, but it also served as a perfect cover. "Quickly, Genki, Flame Wheel," she called, thrusting her hand forward. "Bust through it!"

The Monferno nodded and dashed forward on all fours. A bright orange and red flame engulfed the playful Pokemon as he picked up speed and met the diminished Weather Ball head on, ignoring the pain he felt from it as a result. He burst through the other side and lunged at the agile Roserade in a fiery tackle, eager to make his trainer proud. Katie smiled at Genki's enthusiasm, the Monferno always gave his all, no matter what, and she hoped they would prove to Gardenia that the two of them were worthy of that Forest Badge.

"All right then it's Ace vs Bidoof! Let's have a fun time with this!" Robin called out as they were both ready now. This was gunna be pretty interesting, well for her, she wanted to see what Ace would do if he was left to fight on his own. After all Tony had said something about adapting to how each pokemon fights right? Well she needed to learn Ace's fighting style so that she could work with him and be a better trainer! Determination to watch her pokemon do what he did best coursed through her. "All right Ace I am leaving this battle to you. I want to see how you fight best!"

He was on his own this time? Well that wasn't really a big deal, he had fought plenty of pokemon on his own. Still he did sorta enjoy Robin's cheer leading.Turning his attention to his opponent he looked at the Bidoof for a moment sizing her up. So he was fighting he former battle partner? Well they had pretty much fought there own battle that time so it couldn't really be called a team effort. Still Ace remembered some of that battle and the thing he remembered most was all the defensive moves that the Bidoof had used. Well, this was going to be a battle and he wanted a fight!

A big grin came across the Monferno's and he gave the Bidoof an arrogent look. Heh, that little mouse pokemon couldn't beat him even if his hands were behind his back. Making sure to lay it on really think Ace started laughing to while doing his best to look like an arrogant b*****d. Ok so Taunt wasn't exactly his favorite move, and ok he wasn't really good at it either. On the other side of the arena he could see that Totodile start to fume practically at his Taunt. Well at least it affected someone.

On her side of the battlefield Robin was a bit confused. She had never seen Ace act like that. It wasn't really like him at all. Frowning she pulled out her pokedex and scanned Ace in. Scrolling to his moves Robin read them until she came across one that seemed to be what he was doing. Taunt? Reading up on it Robin raised an eyebrow. If it worked the other pokemon would only be able to attack? Well, that sounded pretty cool, in fact it sounded really cool! But it also sounded really bad if it was used against her, especially Brook. Still she felt sorta proud by doing this small amount of studying. Like she was becoming a real sort of trainer, one who looked out for her pokemon and found the best way for them to win!

Roserade, not completely caught off guard, was hit by the flaming wheel that was Genki. There wasn't enough time to dodge so the Bouquet Pokemon took the attack head on. The fire stung like no other element could and burned the pristine flowers and leaves that decorated the Pokemon's body. Needless to say, she was quickly KOed.

A smile quickly spread itself onto Gardenia's lips. The same tactic would have worked against trainers who weren't competent enough to come up with a counter strategy, though she was fully expecting Katie to develop a clever bypass. "Great job sweetie," the leader smiled, recalling the fallen Pokemon back into the red and white sphere that was her Pokeball.

Gardenia looked up to Katie and Genki, still smiling. "Congrats!" she exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air, laughing a bit. Professionalism was never something that the leader was too keen on. She moved quickly across the battle field and drew Katie into a wet hug and would have done the same for Genki had it not been for his fiery tail.

"Congrats! You've earned the Forest Badge!" she laughed, holding the green and silver treasure between her pointer and middle finger and thumb. With her other hand she grabbed a hold of Katie's wrist and gently turned it so it was palm up. She placed the badge into her upturned hand and fished in her own pocket before adding a wad of cash and a green disk.

"As part of beating me in a gym battle, and an excellent one if I might add!, you get some prize money and the TM, Grass Knot. Unfortunately, I didn't get to use the attack in our battle. To put it simply, it does more damage the more your opponent weighs. Each Pokemon utilizes it in a different way, so I'll leave that up to you to figure out! Heehee!"

And with that Gardenia placed her hand on her hips, "Good luck with the rest of your journey! Be sure to visit me when your beautiful Roselia evolves!" she said, giving a small wave goodbye. The girl sure had potential, she was definitely going places.

"Take out that little weed with your Scratch attack!" Ian commanded eagerly, thrusting a hand out to point at the offending Hoppip. The Mankey in question jabbed the air a few times with his fists before he darted forward, his limber legs easily carrying him into an agile leap.

"Hoppip! Get ready for Poison Powder Counter!" Gina had shouted the moment the Mankey had begun to move. The tiny Hoppip nodded, her twin leaves serving as a propeller to keep her aloft. She waited until the key moment when the Mankey was within striking distance, and with a sharp little growl she released a cloud of toxic, violet spores right into the ape's face. That didn't stop the Scratch attack from going through though, and the small, flying Grass-type let out a pained shriek as she was raked by the Mankey's claws. The attacker landed, panting heavily as he felt the poison begin to attack his body.

"Hmm, nice move, Gina," Ian commented dryly, his arms folded angrily across his chest. "But it'll take more than that to defeat my Mankey!" Though poisoned, the Mankey gave a screech of agreement, his little fists clenched tightly in front of him.

Jasper and Ditto, meanwhile, exchanged another glance before they each turned their attention back to the ongoing battle. Neither of the young trainers had yet noticed their new spectators, but that was just fine with Jasper as he was certain the victor of this fight would most likely turn their attention on him, and since he was still struggling with the idea of actually being a trainer having an actual battle was totally out of the question for now.

Akane awoke to the sight of a tired looking Oddish sitting on the nearby roots, it's leaves starting to droop a little. She felt the beginnings of panic creep up before she remembered that she caught an Oddish the day before. The fog of sleep started to lift and she remembered her predicament. Her Pokedex was out of power and she was lost in Viridian Forest, well partly lost. She tried to recall the brief glimpse of the map she pulled up before her Pokedex finally ran out of juice but didn't come up with much - the most she could remember was that she should try and head west and hopefully meet up with the main road. At least that was the plan. Unfortunately the pair had woken late and between that, the cloud cover that had rolled in during the early morning and the forest canopy it Akane was hard pressed to pick which way was west.

The young girl and her Clefairy got out of the sleeping bag, Twinkers being rather smaller than Akane remembered, more like the size of a stuffed animal. And that was exactly how they had fallen asleep - Akane hugging Twinkers as if the Clefairy was favourite toy. Once out and on the ground the Clefairy returned to normal size and did a few stretching exercises. "Must be a new move" Akane thought sleepily. Then her tummy grumbled and she realized that she hadn't eaten anything since the apple she nabbed on her way out to the forest late last night. Akane turned to her bag (which she had been using as a pillow) to get some food for the three of them.

"Dish!" Colandra exclaimed and jumped down on the far side of her rooty perch. A large Pecha Berry popped into view followed by a triumphant looking Colandra. The Oddish marched happily over to Akane with the Pecha Berry held in her leaves and offered the girl the fruit with a nod of her head.

"You ... you went and got us this fruit in the night?" Akane asked after accepting the proffered fruit.

Colandra nodded with a large smile, obviously proud of her accomplishment.

"Thankyou!" Akane exclaimed as she picked Colandra up and hugged her, Twinkers throwing in an exuberant "Fair! Fair!". Part of her mind was a little worried they were left unguarded for at least a little while in the night, but nothing untoward had happened, plus Akane was grateful for the food - she realized that she may very well have to ration the food that she had left if they couldn't find the road quickly.

Moti was right, this guy had some serious issues if he was throwing away his hometown so nonchalantly. “Well that’s too bad.” Claire responded, tired of being timid, “I guess the same goes for me too. If we met before you didn't leave an impression then," although now she'd remember him quite well if they crossed paths again in the future.

This guy takes life way too seriously was the first thing to come to Moti’s mind after his comments. Just because someone is older, doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy the little things and have fun every once in a while. Sure life isn't always sunshine and rainbows, but you have to have some way to cope with the stress. Pranks worked well enough for Moti, maybe smoking was Crenu's only form of escape. The orange haired man kept his thoughts to himself this time, as Riza walked up muttering something about the Nurse looking for Crenu.

”Well, Riza, it was nice meeting you. I think Kokoro managed to make a a new friend out of this endeavor. We’ll let you get back to your business and maybe see you around sometime. Sorry for the trouble again.” Claire added, feeling like their welcome was pretty much coming to an end.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 25, 2010 11:22 pm

"Hmm, I thought so." Crenu said calmly as Riza placed the ball in his hand. Clenching it tightly in his hand for a moment, the pain shooting through his body getting harder to ignore, Crenu shrunk the pokeball and clipped it back on his belt. "We probably shouldn't stick around here much longer then. It won't be much longer until the contest begins...thanks for takign care of this for me." He said simply, looking at Clair and giving her little more than a nod to acknowledge her claim. It was as she said, they didn't know each other, if they had met then they weren't worth remembering and there was nothing insulting about it. Not in his mind anyway. By the sounds of it Clair had the idea of taking her orange haired friend and going about their business. This of course was fine with him, there was really nothing more to gain from this meeting it seemed, and the two of them did have their own business to attend to. The way these two looked at Crenu, he was sure their views differed greatly, which wasn't all that surprising to him. A lot of people were immature and naive, his ways were to much to handle really as it made direct conflict with the happy go lucky world everyone seemed to live in. That didn't matter to him though, Riza seemed to understand him for the most part or at least she was able to tolerate him to an extent. Right now she was the only person who he considered behaving for. "Let's go. No need to risk hanging around here. I'm going to have to change these bandages before the contest, I hate to admit it but I may not be able to do it by myself." He said softly, turning aroudn and slowly walking away from the center.

Beautifly vs. Poliwhirl, continued!

"Doubleslap, Poliwhirl! Don't take any of that!" the nameless sailor bellowed, and so the Tadpole Pokemon leapt to life and began to beat Aerosmith like he owed the Water-type money.

"Fly out of the way! Absorb!" Jett commanded, head thundering. I can't lose this time... please, not this time... The Butterfly Pokemon ascended into the foggy night, taking a few green orbs from Poliwhirl with it.

"Hypnosis." Poliwhirl fired a series of yellow rings, but the Paralysis combined with the foggy atmosphere made them far off in aim.

Aerosmith was having precisely the same problem. He swayed back and forth, the fog making everything blurry to him. He could accidently use Absorb on that big guy! "Fly," he grunted indignantly, lowering some.

"Aerosmith, I need you to sweep and use Poison Sting!" Jett called to the night, hoping that his hot-headed little Bug-type could figure out what to do.

Surely enough, Aerosmith swooped down, releasing a barrage of purple barbs upon the Poliwhirl, who brought up his white-gloved hands and cried out as he was stung. He swayed and when his trainer tried to call for a command, his muscles locked and he let out a muffled "Poli!"

"Finish it off," Jett said to the circling Beautifly. He hoped that this would be the last blow, and his wishes were granted when the Absorb hit and the Poliwhirl fell, down for the count.

"Sorry, little man, but my Krabby's sick and good ol' Jasmine is taking care of him," the sailor said, handing over a map. "Nice battling with yah! What kind of Pokemon is that...?"

"It's a Beautifly," Jett said, blinking. Were those only in Hoenn...? "Thanks for the map." He smiled half-heartedly, but there was a faint whistle and something told him that he had to get to the train station soon. "Gotta go!"

He took off running.

"Oh, all right," Keegan said quickly, and set Kasiya on her own two feet. She looked pretty wiped out, but given everything that had happened today, he shouldn't be surprised, though he was a little worried about her state of mind for tomorrow. A distracted Kasiya was far more prone to recklessness and carelessness (than usual) and it was safe to say that he was even more worried than he was before. "Go get some rest then, you're gonna need it," he told her, planting a quick kiss on her forehead before he turned and quickly headed for the room Blaine had given the boys for the evening.

Keegan was quite happy to find that he was well-past tired by the time he re-entered the room, and he cast a quick, envious look in the sleeping Kilik's direction before he kicked off his shoes and dropped his coat on the floor. He barely had the energy to remove the belt with all his PokeBalls attached to it before he flopped back on the bed. He stared up at the ceiling for all of ten seconds before his eyelids became too heavy to remain open, and he was snoring lightly soon after that.

Miharu relaxed a little once Star had been recalled, and she was certain she saw Mori relax as well. The Ponyta, while still quite young, was very much aware of the fact that the Marshtomp held quite an advantage over her, an though she wasn't the type to get angry easily, even she had started to feel irritated. Sparkle let out a relieved sigh and looked around the area, the light on her tail flashing faintly.

Miharu smiled at Sam, a bit amused by her embarrassment. "Well, you can if you want to, but it's not exactly going to be anything overly exciting. I mean, I'm just going to be training and looking for other trainers to battle against. I'm not sure it would be a whole lot of fun for you."

Train almost sighed in relief when Carlos agreed that a break would be a good idea. She brought her heels up as high on the rock as she could without losing balance and then placed her elbows on her thighs before resting her cheeks against the heels of her hands. Her eyes followed Carlos until it hurt to move them any further, and, as she didn't feel like turning her head and losing her position, she simply let them fall back onto the grass opposite the side of the path they were on. She lifted her head at the mention of a gym leader who used revived fossil Pokémon, though, and she turned so that her feet were on the ground and she was facing Carlos.

"That's pretty cool," She said, trying to get into another position where she didn't have to really exert effort to keep herself up. but this attempt failed and she finally settled her sitting in the grass and leaning with her back against the rock, instead. "Having a fossil Pokémon would be really cool and all, but I'd probably be really picky about which one I'd want and I'll bet it's really expensive, too." Train let out a little sigh, but it had nothing to do with the currrent conversation--her back was starting to feel a bit cramped and she also sat up and stretched it for a moment. Boy, was she sure looking forward to reach Cerulean and pass out in one of the Pokémon Center's beds.

Sam's face brightened. "But it will be fun! If I was alone, I'd pretty much just be wandering around alone getting myself into some form of trouble. That would be boring. And dangerous. But if I go with you, then I won't do anything too stupid. Besides, it'll make me stronger, neh?" She smiled sheepishly. "But of course, everything is your call."

Both Ditto and Jasper continued to watch the battle carefully, though each had a different reason for doing so. Jasper had started to contemplate the idea of adding another Pokemon or two to his very-empty roster and was scouting for potential future partners while Ditto watched the pair of Pokemon carefully, his blue, jelly-like body quivering as he studied their movements. He was sure it wouldn't be too difficult to mimic the Hoppip, but the Mankey's quick, fluid movements might have been above his current skill level. Ditto wasn't deterred, however, as this only increased his drive to become the best shape-shifting Pokemon in existence.

'Can we do this?' Jasper thought, tightly clenching the handlebars of his bike until his knuckles turned white. 'Both of those kids are so focused...' He sighed and shook his head, looking back towards the battle in time to see the Hoppip fall softly to the ground in defeat. The Mankey, though poisoned, had persevered, and now it limped back over to Ian's side in subdued triumph. Gina wore an expression of disappointment as her fainted Pokemon was returned to its Pokeball. The two young trainers met each other in the middle of the field and shook hands as they exchanged a few words Jasper could not hear, and the boy decided that now would be the time for him to take his leave.

He and his wobbly companion continued their ride south, the thick mass of trees that was Ilex Forest quickly creeping up on them. Jasper was no stranger to the forest, as he and Ditto had spent many nights camped out here (usually hiding from the local authorities or the like rather than for fun) so he had no trouble finding his way around. "What do you think, Ditto?" he asked, not looking down at the blue blob as he continued to pedal. "Should we go searching for a new teammate?" The Transforming Pokemon just looked up at the boy and offered a shrug, or at least the best shrug it could manage. Ditto wouldn't have minded adding a new companion to the team, but at the same time it was loathe to have Jasper's attention drawn away from it in favour of the newcomer. Even still, having another Pokemon on their side could make life a little bit easier.
