Fox gave a light shrug and continued admiring the chip between his nimble fingers. "Although I do kind of miss the feel of fresh summer grass between my toes, this is my home now." Funny how he could remember certain things from his life on Earth like the texture and smell of dirt, but not the colour of currency. Flashbulb memories... He wrote a mental note to himself to look into that. "Hey, anything for the jolly ol' captain right? See you in a bit!" A click terminated the voice conversation and the green light on the com disappeared.
Slipping off the stool, Fox went through another session of treasure hunting before he found what he was looking for. A sleek round gadget with a lens on top, small enough to fit into the palm of his hand. The Holo-Disc, an invention he was proud to call his own, capable of representing light images visually in 3D. Fox looked at it with a grin. Yep, highly effective for 'business' presentations such as the upcoming one, now he only had to find the ship schematics to download onto it. Now where was the nearest jack-in port?

That's right. mommy always is the best. and treats! those were scarfed down without a second thought. though one tasted a bit different. ha! I got a speical treat! Oh. music. pretty..
Then the big pup plopped down, all three heads down and out, snoring loudly in three part harmony, if you coudl call it that.
James put his hand back on, and yelled.
"OW! blasted pup!"
Of course the slightly chewed on appendage had sparked to life again, but the surge was more an electrical shock then the normal powerup. at least it still worked.

Lillia looked up and shook her head making a cutting motion right near her throat and yelling, "The baby is trying to sleep you idiot!" Then she realized that she'd yelled too adn called James an idiot and she nibbled on her bottom lip for a moment.
"Well...in with us then?" she asked scanning over the enclosure and carefully supporting Jelly while walking forward slowly, keeping her eyes on that sleeping Cerberus. Would not be fun to wake the girl and have her want to play. Those teeth were no doubt sharp. "Her den is over there," Lillia said pointing.

Jelena rolled her eyes lightly at his yelling and Lillia's reprimanding on the subject as well. "Oh both of you quit." Reaching a hand down to pet the pup as it went down for the count. That was easier than she expected but good for her. Thus she took to walking with Lillia, though directing thier course a bit. "No need to check in there, need to check the enclosure walling...if that's what's she's chewing on then we need to fix that and break the habit." Of course a look over her shoulder to James. "You alright?"

Half an hour later, Fox was out the door and weaving through the air-conditioned corridors of Radiance. He acknowledged people he passed with a mild nod and a polite smile, but most of them seemed to purposefully turn the other way when they saw him approaching. He never let it get to him though. He knew his quirkyness got on nerves, but he wasn't one to change his ways because of disapproving opinions. The light tapping of the Holo-Disc against his thigh was oddly reassuring, probably because he had always been a mechanical type of guy. Science was his pleasure in life and if he could just retire to his workroom forever with the inanimate gadgets he loved, he could care less if the whole world looked down on him. Taking a right into an empty corridor, he soon reached the captain's room. The 'doorbell' type button by the door was duly pressed and he stood, waiting for the hissing swoosh of the opening door to welcome him in.

James was working his wrist lightly.
"I'll be alright. it still works at least."
Before moving to catch up with the women, taking a look around.
"How do you plan to break her habit of tearing and hoarding shiny things like a dragon?"

Lillia was allowing Jelly full control and the ability to direct her whichever way she might want to send her. "It's a little late in the game for genetic alteration isn't it? Or can that still be done now that she's out of stasis?" That would probably be the easiest way, to genetically alter her so that she no longer felt the need to hoard away things. Although that was an instinct that allowed them to find and hoard food and things for shelter away when they were in the wild. Of course they would never have to worry about that with the Echos but still. Some things just shouldn't be messed with. One of those arguments that had been going strong since Project Echo was begun. "I suppose it could be taught although that would take time and patience. How do you intend to do it Jelly?"

Michael looked up from his latest papers on his desk, setting down his pen and glancing at the clock there. Hm, who the hell could that be? Getting up he walked over to the door and punched in the code, seeing as he kept the door coded and locked. Thus the door slid open and Michael acquired that pleased grin of his. "Fox, how prompt of you. I'm plesantly surprised." Stepping aside and gesturing him in.
Well the habit doesn't necessarily have to be broken...my dragons still hoard shiny things, but they don't rip up thier enclosures. First thing first, find the parts that she's more interested in, put a work order in to get things fixed but made them plain, no shine to them. Probably paint over them as well in a drab color. Then probably coat them in something that's bad to taste, so even if she tries, she won't like it anymore."

Fox was just following the thin etchings in the metal of the door with his eyes when it did slide open with that familiar hiss. Michael's smiling face stared back at him out of the dim room and Fox found himself mirroring his grin. "Yeah, well you know how I am with time. Minutes can mean days, but hours can mean seconds." A look of momentary amusement as he considered his odd puzzling riddle himself. Then with a shake of his head, he followed Michael in and took a seat at the chair in front of his desk.

He took a seat behind the desk in the comfortable leather chair that he indulged in so much. Good for his back too. But he settled easily and then looked to Fox. "Bring schematics with you?" He was still considering how he wanted to handle this...the military was crafty after all, and were horribly creative sometimes. He had to beat them at thier own game now wouldn't he? "Well, Fox, I plan on reworking a bit of things in security...maybe make things a bit more easier to access internally and what not. Piece of cake for you I'm sure."

"Sure thing." With a fluid motion of his hand, the Holo-Disc was procured and placed on the desk between then. A flick of the switch as the entire floor plan schematic of Radiance was projected into the air, bathed in mysterious blue light. A turn on the switch would spin and rotate the diagram 360 degrees and allow for a full view of the ship, along with magnifying features. "Easier to access internally but harder to hack into right? I could do that." He leaned back in the chair and tapped on the arm lightly with his fingers. That was Fox, always antsy... "Talked to FS about it yet?"

"You have the other four ships on this thing as well?" Captain Noris was no techie buff...he was a star cruiser captain. Only thing he knew about these things was how to fly them and what the noises, lights, maps, and diagrams meant. Didn't need to know the rest really. But he did go about clicking at touch activated options, surveying the main station of Fleet. Starting there was best place, seeing as whole Fleet depended on Radiance. "Yes, I want to make sure all the security on this place is going to work if we do need it. I know our weapons systems have been deactivated for months." And those were on motion sensors too, easy to set of things. Didn't need mishaps. Then a nod. "Yes, I've talked to Donner about it for quite a bit of time now. He's up to date with everything. He's going to be training a few of them on a few more systems."

A grin on Fox's part at the question. Nothing condescending, probably just pride leaking through. "Button on the right." He watched Michael flip through the options and he too surveyed the schematic, the innovation gears already turning inside his mind. "The thing about the security now, is that it's all linked into separate areas. If we could centralize it, efficiency would be at its best."
Then a frown. "Although with that idea, if someone were actually able to hack in, it would be much easier for them to disable it." The slim fingers drummed more steadily now, as they always did when he thought deeply. "Sounds good. And about the weapons systems, I've actually been developing a few upgrades and I was meaning to talk to you about giving them a much needed tune-up. You planning on reactivating them all?"

Click on a button to bring up the rest, in a cycle through option, eyes scanning things from different viewpoints that were avaliable. "Yes...that would make things easier and worse at the same time." He rubbed at his chin lightly...he needed a cup of coffee bad. But that would have to wait. "What if we centralized and then split? Route them all to one location, then have security triggers. If the system or personnel recognize something amiss, they can trigger and then split control to three or so differnt areas?" A little tapping of his fingers on his desk. "Or...what about generating a whole new code? Nothing that's been used before, but can work?" Then another nod. "They do need upgrading, and yes, all of them. Do feel free to throw that disk/paperwork on my desk."

Still, the fingers drummed. They never did stop, did they? It was either that or a quick run-though of the blonde hair, but there was gel in it today so that option was out. "It's a delicate balance. That's essentially still centralizing it though... If the hacker got in, no one would have time to split the control manually." The captain's own finger tapping had seemingly made him self-conscious of his, and with a frown, he stopped the drumming and took to rotating the hologram himself as he thought.
"Automatic security triggers are very hard to program, and implementing them would mean a system down for a long time. A new code could work, but you'll have to give me time to work that out. Not to mention security clearances would all have to be reprogrammed, and that could create a lot of hassle for the projects..." Fox thought about the labs for Echo and Metamorphosis. They would kill if they had to go a week without project access, he sighed. Sometimes, he felt like he needed another brain.
