Earendil nodded. "Do you want to wake Miyuki for a bath as well?" he asked her softly, nodding to where the child still slept in his bed. "Or would you rather she bathe after you're finished?"

The baths they used on the ship weren't very large, after all.

"Which you and I both know she needs," Earendil smiled. He leaned over and kissed Lin on the top of her head. "You go ahead then. I'll wait here with her, in case she wakes before you return. She was already asleep when we came here last night, so if she woke here alone she might be disoriented."

He sat down again on the edge of Lin's bed, since Miyuki was in his. "I'll be waiting for you," he smiled, as he always did when he promised to wait for her.

While Lin was gone, Earendil pulled out the map he had made of Nauros those years before and spread it out over Lin's bed, examining it. He was thinking of where they might like to take Miyuki in the time that they had left there - considering that they didn't know how much time they would have left.

The volcano, for certain, he mused; but the rest was sort of the same everywhere ... at least, from above.

Earendil turned at the sound of Miyuki's voice, and he smiled at her. "Ah, you're awake," he murmured. He moved over to sit on the edge of the bed that she was on. "Your mother went to take a bath, you'll be taking one after her, all right? And then some food and another night on the island."

He stroked her hair gently. "Maybe we can see the volcano," he murmured.

Earendil chuckled softly. "Inside they are, yes," he smiled, sitting next to her and patting his lap for her to climb up. "But on the outside, they're just like a mountain. You have to be careful with them, but they are very beautiful if you explore them safely."

Earendil smiled and rocked her gently. "Well, like I said, it's kind of like a mountain, so there are trees and such growing all over it. And when you look in the top - well, up there it's warmer, and you have to be careful, but when you look inside it's so pretty, it's all bright glowy red ... and Kelirahc says there are flowers growing inside."

He hadn't had the chance to see any himself, but he trusted that they were there. Kelirahc said so, and that was enough for him.

"Well, I don't know about that," Earendil admitted with a smile. "I haven't seen them myself. But Kelirahc knows all about them - Haldia might, too. Maybe you could ask her when we meet up with her again, what do you say? Maybe she'll even take us to the volcano."

"He might," Earendil said, though he wasn't entirely sure. "I guess it depends on how he feels. I wish Haldia had let Arwen heal him ... I mean, I really can't blame him for hitting Cald, the guy was asking for it. And this is a bit extreme."

He understood Haldia's intention, but hadn't the lesson already been learned?
