Armor, armor. I'm talking about a completely indepenent machine that can function on it's own.
We're in the process of mapping out magic scientifically, and are hoping to avoid time paradoxes and whatnot. Then the easy part of automating the process with machines.

OSHI--
But anyway, I just thought it'd be interesting to see a mage wandering around in powered armor. Or have a robot that can cast spells.

iunno.. wouldnt the robot need life force.. or that 'missing element' thats usually equated to the soul or whatever?
to attune with the magical force being wrought, or something?
or am i reading too deeply?

We could just create an organic brain and place it in a robot body.

Depends how you define life force.
From all the ways magic is done, there is one common element. Every mage draws energy from somewhere, using their own. Conjuring foreign energy that is separate from the physical plane of reality. A mage is capable to use themselves as a conduit and use said foreign energy to manipulate the physical realm.
I had a better explanation, but Team America: World Police is playing next to me. Hard to concentrate with all of the "Jesus ******** christ!"

Sounds ridiciously overpowered to me. At least if they keep the usual tone of armor.
I mean - if I can fire a flamethrower from my right arm, chaingun with my left, have a booster pack, carry a shovel, have infrared scanning, and everything else those suits have.
Stacked on the ability to do magical stuff. I'm straight up immortal.

Nya? Heheh, probably. Doesn't make me dislike the idea anymore. All depends on the delivery. Personally I was considering two divisions, magic and not. Alright, there'd be a mage of somesort, but he'd have a guard or two that use conventional weapons.
