It was only his first hunting lesson!] "Well, not quite," I meowed, my tail twitching slightly. I sighed, looking at my paws for a moment. I looked back up, and my ears perked. A rustling sound occured. I grinned, looking at Lustrepaw with a mischevious grin. "Watch how a pro does it," I growled playfully. Without another word, I padded off toward the scent of rabbit. I smiled, and padded quicker, my muscles rippling gently under my pelt.
I soon caught sight of it, and smiled, closing my eyes abd darting foward. I was going to catch it! I always hunted better when going after it blindly. It helped me to focus my senses more.
Suddenly, I felt my body hit something with a somewhat sickening thwack. I yowled, collapsing to the ground. I felt myself quickly sweep into unconsciousness, the sight of my surroundings fading into fuzz, and then into swirling darkness.

"Fine then, a pro huh?"
[Lustrepaw giggled as he sat down, curling his tail around his front paws as he watched Cinderstreak. Or was it Night? He couldn't tell. Within a few heartbeats, Cinderstreak had already disappeared from his sight, only the rustling of the bushes indicating his presence.]
Well he'd better be quick, cuz I'm hungry!
[He thought as he tapped his paw impatiently on the ground...just as a sudden loud THWACK caught his attention. He heard a yowl, unmistakably Cinderstreak's. His eyes widened in fear as he dashed towards where the yowl was, only to encounter Cinderstreak's still body.]
"C-Cinderstreak? Night? NIGHT??"
[He meowed frantically, pawing at his mentor's still body. When he received no response, his ears flattened in fear as he took a DEEP breath, yowling at the top of his voice.]
"HEEEEEEELP!!! CINDERSTREAK'S DEEEEEEEAD!!! HELP!!" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

[Before my apprentice could respond, I heard the sudden cry of Lustrepaw shrieking through the forest. My head snapped up, sending the rabbit skittering away. My attention suddenly averted, and my instincts activated, I pounced on the rabbit and quickly killed it. Then I dropped it, somewhat guilty I had killed her prey, and somewhat panicked for Lustrepaw's screech..]
"Sorry Softpaw, but something's wrong," I said quickly before whipping around. "Let's go see what's wrong!"
[As I carried the rabbit in my jaws, my feet pounded over the undergrowth, scaring off any nearby prey. But that was not my priority.
As we neared the apprentice, I heard something about Cinderstreak being dead. My stomach lurched. Oh great StarClan, no!! I thought wildly.
I burst from the bush, my fresh kill still swinging from my jaws. I saw Lustrepaw sitting next to a lump of gray fur. My eyes widened. I dropped the rabbit quickly on the ground and dashed up to the fallen warrior.]
Pressing my nose against his throat to check for a heartbeat, I said softly, "Calm down, Lustrepaw, and tell me what happened."

Batkit, who had been sleeping soundly in the nursery, slowly awoke when the screech sounded. His unseeing eyes fluttered open and his ears pricked up like a rabbit's. He turned his head in every which direction, taking in the scents of the camp. He smelt Dawnthistle, a young mother that nested not but leaps away from him. He turned in her direction, blinking his blue eyes sleepily. "What was that, Dawnthistle?" the young tom asked quietly, as to not rouse her kits. He rasped his tongue over his paw and smoothed down a tuft of grey fur that stuck out on the top of his head. Then, Batkit got to his paws and stretched, his claws flexing in and out of his silvery toes.

Batkit." [Dawnthistle gave the small kit a lick to the ear as

[Lustrepaw stammered as he stared down at his mentor's still body with wide eyes, thinking him dead. He broke off when Cinderstreak began to stir, before getting up smoothly as though nothing had happened.]
"Eeeek! He's alive!"
[He squealed as he took a few steps backwards, before finally recovering from his shock.]

It's just a minor blemish," I meowed calmly, my cool facade still on. On the inside, I was dying though. Night was screeching at me furiously, barely audible over the terrible pounding in my head.
I hissed, shaking my head again. I felt dizzy, as if I was going to collapse at any second. I held myself together, and sighed, narrowing my eyes. "It wasn't me, it was Night. He was being careless and crashed into a tree," I explained calmly, enunciating every word. I didn't feel like repeating myself today.

[I let out a soft squeak as Night's body suddenly leapt back to life. I stared for a few moments before letting out a huge relieved sigh.]
"Geez, do you do that often?" I asked half-frustrated, half-amused. "You nearly scared the fur off my pelt!"
[I ruffled said pelt, a little embarrassed at my surprised squeak. I stood, stretching forward, them back, my muscles rippling a bit as I narrowed my eyes in relief at stretching my muscles.
I nodded to them.]
"I'll go fetch our prey."
[I quickly padded to the buried prey, digging it back up and carrying my bird and rabbit. Softpaw carried her catch with me back to the males.
I stood a bit taller, flipping my tail around proudly. We walked past them with our larger catch and I purred a bit, glancing back at them.]
"Shouldah shtepped uhp the compehtishion, boysh," I said through muffled fur.
[We arrived at camp and I placed my catch down.]
"Let's eat! I'm starving!" I crowed, grinning at the two cats.

There was a long pause before Night replied. Don't name me with one of those stupid two word names, doofus, Night snarled, and I felt immense pain in my head once more. I hissed. He was gashing into me. Not physically, of course, just my soul. I winced, almost howling with pain, and I shook myself, growling. "Knock it off!" I snarled at Night.
A malicious grin appeared across Night's muzzle. I could see him clearly now. We were in a dark space. Just space. Thunderflight, Lustrepaw, and Softpaw had disappeared, leaving me, him, and just darkness.
His light blue eyes glinted, despite there not being any light. Or what?! He unsheathed his claws, slipping foward a few steps.

I padded back into camp, smiling slightly. Night had long shut up at my last comment. My tail flicked with pride, and I looked at Lustrepaw. "Go take something for Batkit and Dawnthistle, and then you can eat that squirrel, little one," I meowed, smiling slightly.
