Same here. She was going to be in Spanish...
going to be in Spanish...
going to be in Spanish...
BAM! She's in band! Now our flutes SUCK because of her! Rarely pracitces, never tries, lies about her practice times, kisses up to the BD, the whole set....

There's a flute in my band like that...My band director lets her get away with anything, but he's always hollering at us. Like one time he let the class pack up early and me and a friend decided to "visit" the lunchroom, and when he caught us he lectured us, but when she walked right past he didn't say anything. heart

It's great when we play chords, it has a bouncy feeling when we play fast!

Yay!!! I'm going to States for Solo & Ensemble Festival! Do any of you guys do that at your schools? I'm doing a duet with a clarinet friend, and this is the first year we've been eligible to go to states (last time we got a 1 we were too young or couldn't make it or something.)
Do they grade a lot harder at States?

Our school stopped doing state solo/ensemble b/c it was so expensive and not really worth it... But yeah they judge very hard. The judges can only give a first division rating to like 1% of all they listened to.

I've got a queston that needs answering!
I can hit these high notes fine: (starting from high C) C, C#/D flat, D, D#/E flat, E, F, G, and A.
These notes I have trouble hitting (strange 'cause most of these are lower than the above notes): F#/G flat and G#/A flat.
I'd just like to know what I would need to do to get those notes to come out. Right now they don't come out like the note is supposed to sound. So help would be appreciated!

F# is a gnome as well as high E for the flute. I just have to relax and not force it to come out. Don't think about it when you're playing or it most likely will not sound when you try.
As for the high A flat, make sure your right ring finger and middle finger are down too. This lowers the pitch and helps it get out more. It's a big help on piccolo too.

Ahhh, my dear fellow flutists. We are all a burden, to dare say.We are rarely heard over the obnoxious tuba or the beastly baritone.Call me Halo.To which my real name, you shalt never know.
