"Oh hell no!" he said as he gathered his remaining mana into his fist, bringing it down on her head again and again and using all of his will to keep it from flowing down to her.

The muscles in Gertrude's jaws, neck, and chest all contracted simultaneously, pulling most of his mana out from his punching arm into the rest of his body and sapping what was already drawn into the arm she held. His punch, deprived so forcefully of mana midway through, was enough to crack her neck back but not to get her off. As her muscles relaxed, Joe's mana flowed freely again.

Joe's eyes unfocused and his blows weakened. He began to slump to one side. For the first time since he had begun training, he was running out of mana. Marco skidded forward and put one hand on Gertrude's face and the other on Joe's arm. "Sorry," he grunted before blowing the two forcefully apart. There was significantly more force in the attack on Gertrude.

Joe recalled his mana battery.
Gertrude used Marco's attempt to separate them to back off and move away.

((Actually, I remembered the mana cell, but I wasn't gonna use it quite yet. Oh well.))
Joe reached down to find his mana cell still in its place on his belt. He pulled it out and held it in front of his half-closed eyes. The dark smoke within began to thin a little, and Joe gained more energy. The Djinn could support more now, and within a minute Joe was back on fire. Literally. Marco pressed the advantage, attacking the vamp while her broken neck limited her movement.

Jacob, having stayed out of the way for most of the events, finally decided to do something (who would've thought). He drew his 9MM pistol and aimed for Gertrude's head before firing with pinpoint accuracy. To add a little extra zest, Jacob decided to try out the fireball Joe had taught him, though in a slightly different way, the bullet he had fired was on fire as it left the barrel and flew at Gertrude.

Marco saw the attack and figured, what the hell. He added his own energy to the bullet, speeding it up exponentially as it came at her back. Marco fired shots all around and at her, keeping her already limited movement contained.

Gertrude snapped her head around to dodge. The broken neck caused it to lag long enough for the bullet to clip her nose. She clutched it in her hands, wide-eyed and screaming. She jumped backwards blindly, crashing into a car and ignoring it, fleeing further, ignoring a broken bone in her forearm from moving through one of Marco's force bullets.
((Back in 20 minutes.))

"How is she still going?" Marco asked of Jacob, shaking his head in disbelief. He continued to fire Force Bullets ((I love the name!)), but froze after a second, looking past Gertrude. She ran right into Joe, who stood, arms crossed, in her path. As she was rebounding, Joe slammed a punch straight at her face.

Fyrin advanced again. His lens hung in the air, focusing on the stumbling girl more easily than the girl leaping around like Fyrin could only do if he were dumping mana in an unrealistic way. So instead of trying to engage, where obviously since he was tired and more or less hurt, (he had yet to replace his hand that the dragon had eaten) he kept the lens focused.

Gertrude discharged the mana she'd absorbed from Joe before, rocketing into him and absorbing what was left to heal her neck and arm to the point they could keep up with her. She spun herself with a raw mana discharge, twisting into a dropkick, before running at a perpendicular angle, away from all of them.

Joe stumbled back but didn't go down, allowing her attacks to hit him and flow around, only moving to avoid the dropkick. He watched for a moment as she ran, then flitted to in front of her. "I doubt you can outrun me," he said as he shot another punch.

((Nope.))
"Let her go, Joe," Fyrin advised. "She's no longer interested in engaging us, and we can't prevent her." The lens faltered, stopped tracking for a moment. The combat no longer involved him.

((I have. Why?))
Gertrude ducked the punch and jumped into a flying knee, grabbing Joe's shoulders on the way up; only at this attack did Joe realize how short Gertrude was. She barely made five feet tall, by his estimate.
