Aer glanced over at Janika as she spoke, appreciating the apparent concern. Then he looked to Tekira.
"I--" No. He silenced himself. He had no right to ask that Tekira stay, whatever he thought he might feel towards her. They hadn't known each other long; if she decided to leave, he would probably forget her soon anyway.
Probably.
Maybe.
He shook his head and turned to Wraith. "What, exactly, does being the Wraith entail?"

"First and formost is the collection of Hearrtes. To do this, you are granted the use of the ship and all the powers it has attained over the centuries pertaining to the Hearrtes it holds. Before taking the Hearrte and fusing it to the ship, you must ask the donor if he is willing to give is Hearrte. If the answer is yes, you ferry them and their families here. If not, you must kill them, fusing their soul to their Hearrte so that it will live untill fused with the ship." Wraith gestured with his free hand, as the other held a goblet of Bayle's finest red wine, to a window which became transparent. "Secondly, you must act as guardian of this paradise for those who have given themselves to Merq's cause and their decendants." Flexing his fingers, he smiled as flames danced in the palm of his hand. "Packaged with the duties come the pleasures of various abilities, and mastery of most forms of magick. You will be able to detect Hearttes as they draw nearer, aiding you in tracking them down. Some of these abilities include shapeshiffting, teleportation, mastery over the elements--"
Wraith broke off suddenly and stood. "A Hearrte draws near, coming fast. If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was headed right for us! It is a powerful one at that." He turned towards a wall-mounted mirror which shimmered to reveal... nothing. "I'm having difficulty getting a lock on it."

Janika made a confused face. Collection of hearttes? Sound cool somehow, but not really. Hm... she didn't even have her heartte yet. Does that make her slow?

He may have becime my successir had he not slaughtered countless people without a chance at life. Through magick, the soul is removed and bound to the Hearrte. Whatis left is no more than an empty shell, a machine. It still functions, but can hardly be called alive." Wratih leaned returned to his chair, contemplating the mirror. "Tell me, Aer, would you know of where your Heartte might be?"

"My father said that he found his Hearrte in a cave. Not a Gortulki cavern... A cavern inside one of the Donnol Islands, near where I grew up. The Island... I think it was called Massilia. I don't know much about my own Hearrte, but I've felt it... sometimes... at home, pulling from somewhere nearby. I've never had much interest to hunt it down, even if I would have been let out of the manor to do so. Now, though... Is it really so important that I find my own?"

"Now, if you believe you know the general area, we can leave as soon as your ready. If the ladies desire to follow, they must sleep untill we are away from this place. I will not have my whereabouts discovered by anyone else."

Wraith smiled. "Don't worry, they can be provided with permanent quarters within the palace. I myself have had many loves and 'assistants' over the years, yet they still may not know the location if they are to leave. When one is as powerful as the Wraith, there are any crosshairs on your back and they may just aim foran easier target, torturing her into leading them to your doorstep."

Tekira looked between the two men and Janika. Finally, she smiled softly, turning to Aer. "I'd prefer to stay with you and Janika, if that's all right. Sometimes wandering isn't the best thing to do alone."
There was more to it than that, of course, but she wasn't going to talk about it. She wasn't even going to think about it.
At least, not yet.
