Daemon the Sword

I had this tendency to injure myself by accident... after a while she wouldn't give me anything pointy.

Daemon seemed a bit mornful about that.

She gave me a retractable staff instead and told me to whack anything that got near.

How ironic, Gion grinned. She wouldn't give you anything pointy, yet here you are, stuck in her blade ...

He found that quite amusing.

Daemon laughed a bit sheepishly at that.

Yes well... she never expected anyone would try to use it...

Ah, but isn't exceeding expectations one of the things that makes life so much fun? Gion grinned. I mean, all throughout the history of our land, so much of it happened because someone did more than anyone believed they could! Or would! Even just the founding of the Southland elves for example. Most people would expect violence but thanks to Alyse there has never been bloodshed between elves! Not the entire nations, anyways.

Hmm... true... that is a good point, though I don't getting stuck in a sword was the idea.

He chuckled a bit.

But I know what you mean.

Gion chuckled again and looked around. His skin was already darkening from being out in the constant sunlight, more so than it already had, but thankfully he wasn't burning.

He took a long, satisfying drink from one canteen, splashing a bit of water on his face and neck as well. At least he hadn't been stupid enough to take his shirt off: as long as he kept a spidersilk shirt on he would be protected from the sun in two ways - first, from the heat because the shirt reflected most of it, and second, from being burnt from the sun's hot rays.

He was making good progress.

I wonder what Long's doing right now? He had always been an interesting person, even in his own family.

Daemon mused out of the blue.

Gion smiled. Tell me something more about him? he asked Maybe a story or something.

Well Long is from the East, like Yume was, though they were of a different people, really to anyone who hasn't been to the East for a long while, can't tell the different, but their languages are vastly different. Anyhow... Long came from a family that... well... let's just say they've seen the worse in the cities... they are human mages and fighters who specialize in stealth... well they're suppose to... Long was good, but asking him to break into a highly guarded area well... he's never managed to without causing a great deal of property damage.

It was one of the few things that made Long more human, otherwise he couldn't image the man would stay around Daemon as long as he did.

Uh oh, Gion chuckled. What kind of destruction are we talking about?

Fire damage... he was a fire mage, which is unusual since the family mainly deals with sheilds and seals.... I guess he never took to those spells or something. His grandmother was kind of in dispair about it I heard.

Daemon chuckled and let Gion know through his feelings she wasn't dispairing over anything bad or disappointment it was just Long was a different person to get along with.

Gion chuckled. My sister and my eldest brother are firecasters as well, he told Daemon. But they don't do any damage with it ... at least, not that I know of.

Yes well I'm sure if they did so it wasn't on purpose.

Came the reply.

He was good at sneaking up on individual people but give tell him to get into a highly guarded area and a fire was his most common form of distraction.

Gion shook his head slowly, still chuckling. Not exactly subtle, was he?

No.... well he was... it's just the moment he was at risk of being caught or he was spoted he stopped being subtle and well... fire in the hole as the saying goes.

Daemon chuckled.

Irony since his family specialized in stealth.
